I must admit, Tommy Bahama has been a bit of a bucket list item since discovering its presence in OC. It's not quite themed dining but it's close enough that it piqued my interest. We went here for a family dinner on a Sunday. I think my favorite part was the appetizers and it was a bit downhill from there. We got the skillet bread and coconut shrimp. These were so good! The coconut shrimp is perfect crispy and the skillet keeps the bread nice and warm. For my main, I split the blackened mahi mahi tacos with my sister along with the steak salad. Both of these were just okay. I liked the crispy potatoes on the steak salad but it was just kind of meh for the price, same with the tacos. For dessert, we overindulged with the key lime pie, cake, and creme brûlée. This might have just been personal preference but I only really liked the key lime pie. Service was decent. Our server was certainly friendly and kind but it was a little slow here on a Sunday evening. Overall, this was a one and done for me.

Had an amazing lunch/dinner at Tommy Bahama is Newport Beach today. The ambiance is always pleasant and uplifting. We had reservations yet found a nice hightop in the bar area. Rose was our fantastic server and truly did an amazing job serving us and providing a quality customer experience. We started with drinks and the artichoke dip with flatbread. Yummy. We also were please to see and visit with Pilar, the GM, a true sweetheart and someone we care dearly for. We visited for a while and then Rose stopped by and took our entree order. We both had the macadamia nut crusted halibut which is so good! My wife had the rice and asparagus and I had mashed potatoes and sautéed spinach. What a great dining experience and the Tommy Bahama family, staff, are all amazing! We just love the people, food and ambiance. Thank you Pilar, Rose and the entire TB team!

We have not ate at Tommy Bahama for about couple years, we decided to come back and have a causal dinner tonight. We had a reservation at 7:30 pm for 4 people, when we get there, we had to wait for about 15 min before they seated us. Seems like the walked in got seated before us. We sat inside the restaurant since it was a cold night. The decor has not changed. It was a clean minimalist beach decor. We ordered the World famous Coconut Shrimp as appetizer. It was tasty! We ordered Lump Crab and Avacado salad, Crab Cake entrees, Creole Shrimp and Crab Pasta and the Macadamia Crusted Halibut. Followed by the Pina Colada cake and a Pineapple Cream Brulee. All 4 of the Entree are really good. However, the Coconut Shrimp and the Pineapple Creme Brulee is to die for. One reason why I did not give it a 5 star is because our server really did not come around our table to give us refill. He was very friendly, just not around too much. Otherwise it was a nice dinner!

It's been years since I've been year and I'm not sure why but the food and drinks here are the best. I came here really hungry so that I can taste a couple of things. I started with a tequila drink and it was outstanding. I ended up having 2 of them. I had the famous coconut shrimp and it came with 2 different sauces. An orange flavor one and one tasted like some kind of peanut base sauce, both was very good, and went well with the coconut shrimp. My main entree I decided to go with the Seabass. Definitely a must try dish. It was really good. It had nice vegetables that went with it. Both bartenders were attentive. I came here during lunch time on a Friday and it was fairly busy with a nice casual vibe to it. I would recommend this place for any occasion. Plenty of parking since it's located on an outdoor shopping center.

The ambiance was so nice. We sat outside enjoying the outdoor weather. Had the nice umbrellas covering us from the sun. Everyone working there were nice and friendly. Our waiter was fast and helpful with menu choices. Food and drinks were delicious. Good food and friendly service deserves a compliment.

Well overdue review! This is just such a great place for dinner or happy hour. I've been here many many times and realized I never reviewed this restaurant. The happy hour appetizers and cocktails are a must. Tonight we had dinner and cocktails after not visiting for sometime. The filet mignon salad with the crunchy frites was surprisingly so darn good. I enjoyed every bite with the tender filet mignon. My husband had the crusted halibut dinner which was superb. The mai tai cocktails are a must ! Our service was great and love that the bar is huge for a random happy hour visit

Years later, the quality of the food is still good. Service is fine. There's a bit of a serious, get the job done vibe. They don't give the yummy warm bread anymore. They offer the House Biscuits which are on the menu instead. The bar and restaurant always have a solid amount of customers.

Love to come here on a warm day. The open air restaurant is wonderful. There is also seating outside. But, we wanted to watch the football games, so we loved our table near the bar. Service was wonderful and attentive. The macadamia nut crusted halibut was delicious. We also had the holiday special salad made with kale and cranberries. Neither of us liked it. It had too many stems and tasted bitter. The full rack baby back ribs were huge, tender, and moist and we loved them!! The key lime pie is also a winner here! We will definitely be back!

Fabulous experience! Packed with people during the lunch rush. Book ahead on OpenTable, that's a must! Shoutout to my server, Annie! She delivered phenomenal friendly customer service! This restaurant is gorgeous! I had their Coconut Shrimp that was served piping hot and mouthwatering deliciousness. Caesar Salad with Grilled Chicken, and that didn't disappoint! Ample parking, but it can get crazy during peak hours. Lots of shops in the center. Food was excellent, huge menu selection, and the restaurant itself was aesthetically appealing. I didn't check out their retail store selection, but I will next time! Highly recommended! Had a great time, overall! Thanks, Annie! And thank you for reading this, Yelpers!!!

We walked in on the Sunday brunch hour. We didn't have reservations but was fortunate enough to be seated promptly even though the eatery was at capacity. The decor and size of this restaurant is large and airy. We started off with Mai Tai's and two orders of the coconut shrimp. For my main entree, I chose the lump crab, avocado salad which was delightful. Our waiter was friendly and on point. Overall, our party enjoyed the Sunday brunch at Tommy Bahama and I look forward to returning to another Tommy Bahama soon.

The food was pretty good. I like the goat cheese appetizer a lot and the mussels soup. I felt like the Thai curry was a bit overly salted but the shrimp and scalloped in it was cooked perfectly. Super buttery. It did have great flavor though We came here on a Wednesday and it was quite busy but we were able to get a table at the high top since we didn't have a reservation. The vibe is really relaxing and leisurely. Our food took quite a long time to come out but they were very nice and comped some of our appetizers for us. I would come here again and try some other items to taste it.

When booking, I had the option of dining , chef's table, or patio seating. I specifically chose the dining since my daughter loves creating content, and the indoor ambiance is absolutely beautiful for photos. The hostess seated us on the patio, and I mentioned that I had selected dining. I was told that seating is based on first availability, which was a little disappointing, especially since the restaurant is right on the water and by 7:30 PM it was getting pretty chilly. While they do have heaters outside, sitting in gusty winds with the smell of gas (especially after a fresh trip to the hairdresser!) just wasn't ideal. My daughter went back to the car to grab a blanket. Thankfully, the hostess noticed my discomfort and came back shortly after saying, "Donna, we have another table further down that's out of the wind and under a heat lamp." That small gesture made a big difference, and honestly, that's when the experience started to turn around. From there, things only got better. When our entrées arrived, our waiter Nick realized we had never received our appetizers. Without hesitation, he assured us he would make it right, and he absolutely did. He brought out a selection of cheeses for us to sample, which led to us ordering a caviar bump paired with champagne (highly recommend!). To top it all off, he surprised my daughter with olive cake and fresh berries to celebrate her birthday. Such a thoughtful touch. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would. Not just because the food was amazing, but because of the attention to detail and how seriously they take the overall dining experience. Parking is available in a nearby garage, and they validate the first 90 minutes, which is a nice bonus.

I had this place bookmarked on Yelp since November when it was all dressed up for the holidays. The…read morepictures of the interior looked beautiful and the food looked great. Yesterday, I came here for my birthday lunch with my mom after she made a reservation, and honestly, I wish we had just gone somewhere else. We sat down right at our 1:00 reservation and then waited 35 minutes just to get a drink menu. Not food. Not to order. Just the menu for drinks. After we finally ordered, the champagne showed up about 20 minutes later. It was served in wine glasses, which feels like basic wine bar knowledge, but apparently not here. When we asked to switch them to champagne glasses, the waiter brought out smaller wine glasses. Not exactly good etiquette for a place that leans so heavily on its bar concept. The whipped ricotta appetizer came out even later, around the 65 minute mark. As an appetizer. It was fine, probably the best thing we had, but "fine" after that kind of wait is not a positive. From there, everything just dragged. It took almost an hour for my mom's meatballs to come out, and when they did, they were raw. Not slightly underdone. Fully pink in the middle. She sent them back and was so turned off she didn't even want to eat anything else. I ordered a salad and specifically asked for light dressing. What I got was the opposite. It was drenched in a thick, heavy dressing that made the whole thing borderline inedible and the lettuce soggy. After our food, I tried to order drip coffee, which they didn't have, so I settled for an Americano. I asked for warm cream, which I've had done at plenty of places, and somehow it came out clotted. If you know anything about coffee, that shouldn't happen. At this point, we had been there for over two and a half hours. For a salad, an appetizer, and four raw meatballs. The server was very nice and doing his best with being busy. BUT, the overall operation felt completely disorganized and untrained. We weren't the only ones either. The couple next to us was also complaining after waiting 40 minutes just to order breakfast items. To make it even better, parking is only comped for 90 minutes. So because of their slow service, we ended up paying for parking on top of overpriced, underwhelming food. What should have been a 45 minute lunch turned into a 2.5 hour ordeal. The bathroom also wasn't clean either time I went, which pretty much sums up the lack of attention to detail across the board. The only slightly redeeming part was the crème brûlée, which was... fine. Not amazing. Just fine. It's a pretty space. I'll give them that. But that's about where the positives end. The food is not good, the timing is unacceptable, and the whole experience feels like Instagram style over quality and substance. Definitely not worth the money, and not somewhere I'd ever go back to.

It's waterfront and can be accessed via the boardwalk (it's behind the street-side shops). Parking can be tough and very expensive - you'll likely have to park in the structure and walk over. Make sure to take your ticket with you for validation. Seating is available inside and outside on their covered patio. Plenty of space for parties of all sizes. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to make a same-day reservation for a Sunday afternoon. They had plenty of open seating even when we got there. Tables were very dirty. They have a lot of work to do - it seems like months if not years of food, dust, and salty moist air mixed together and collected in the creases in the tables, on the walls, etc.. It's like a sticky gross residue that never gets completely clean. Many people like to dress nice in the area but honestly I would hate to wear something nice here out of fear it would get dirty. We also required new plates as ours had old food stuck to them. Service was not great. Our waiter was somewhat attentive but not nice - the poor guy seemed miserable like he hated his job and did not want to be there. Despite the restaurant being full, he wouldn't come by often when we actually needed something - he even disappeared towards the end and a new waiter had to help us. Food is delicious. Besides the location, their saving grace. We tried the sandwiches and yummy! Fries were also delicious with the spicy mayo. Love the different options they have, overall. They also had some great looking food on the brunch and drinks section of the menu. You can scan the QR code at the table to see pictures of each menu item.
