This place is a hidden gem for sure! We did the tasting menu , amazing food and experience . Highly recommend it!

Unfortunately, my experience with The Mayor's Table was extremely frustrating--not because of the food, but because of their reservation and billing process. We made a reservation through OpenTable for July 16 and were required to prepay $276 for two people just to reserve our table. The very next day, we decided to change our reservation date. When I tried to reschedule through OpenTable, it prompted me to pay another $276. I contacted the restaurant before doing anything, and they specifically instructed me to make the new reservation, assuring me that the original charge was only a pre-authorization and would simply fall off. That didn't happen. When we arrived for our new reservation, both $276 charges were still on my credit card. I brought it to the restaurant's attention, and I was told the manager had already reversed the duplicate charge. Days passed, and nothing was refunded. I followed up again, and my issue was escalated to someone via email who claimed they couldn't find a duplicate charge. I sent a screenshot of my online banking clearly showing both charges, and after that, I never received another response. I ultimately had to dispute the duplicate charge with my bank because the restaurant stopped responding. If you're considering making a reservation here, I would be very cautious about the prepaid reservation system. If anything changes with your reservation, resolving billing issues can become a frustrating ordeal. I expected much better customer service, especially after following the restaurant's instructions every step of the way. read more

SERVICE: I had very good service while I was here holding a meeting for my team. They were very attentive and got our drinks out fast - and tasty. Weston helped me a few times and was awesome!! We went there with a group of 7. There were a lot of empty tables since it was a Wednesday night. The hostess was nice, they gave us a nice table to fit our group and the service was good until it felt like they were trying to rush us out. We had been sitting at the table for less than hour when the server brought us our check and kept asking us if we needed anything else. He looked extremely annoyed with us. When they first sat us they mentioned nothing about a table limit and the restaurant itself was pretty empty aside from the bar that had people watching the USA soccer game. I love Lido! The restaurant itself is really nice and spacious. They have live music and it got busy around 7pm. The wait staff is attentive and friendly. We ordered the bread and butter as well as the James Fries, which are supposedly the "best fries in America." The fries were good, but I wouldn't say they were the best we've ever had. I had the Nicoise Salad, which was tasty. I really wanted the maitake mushrooms, but they are cooked in beef tallow, so I passed. We came here late on a Friday evening for drinks. Everything was spectacular and they have a lounge area near the fireplace, so cozy! I enjoyed the vibe and loved that it wasn't too packed and was relatively calm inside. Drinks are on the pricier end, but that was expected. For parking, we used the valet (which is not always ideal) - I am not sure if there are any other parking options. Also, I didn't get a chance to try any of the food, but maybe next time! Chef Escobar hit it out of the park. We stayed at The hotel and were not sure where to go. Very grateful for Colin's excellent recommendations. The flat iron steak is reasonably priced, perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The truffle risotto is a MUST. Flavor and texture are power packed and super fresh. You have to try the Hawaiian tuna toast. Fresh, sweet, spicy and the sour dough is exceptional. We were stuffed but were told the dessert was amazing. We went for the 13 layer chocolate cake. If you grew up on Claim Jumper imagine a fancy version with flavor x3. So rich but not overly sweet. So good that we are coming back for breakfast and I'm bringing my girls for brunch. We came to the Mayor's table for a family dinner and to do our gender reveal. They put us in a quiet corner farther back in the restaurant which was really helpful for us to hear each other and for the dinner to feel more private. We had easy access to bathrooms just outside the doors to the pool area. Our waitress was super helpful. She asked how soon we would want the cake brought out and helped us order appetizers for the table. She regularly checked in on us to see if we needed any refills or wanted to order more food or drinks. The ambience was really nice inside. It's has a very modern interior but still felt cozy. They put shades down as the sunset got pretty strong. The staff regularly cleared our table and all the food came out in a timely manner. The food was all very delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I got the steak and loved the yuzu sauce on my broccolini. The onion dip and bread were especially delicious. Towards the end of dinner our waitress pulled dessert plates out for us and some knives to cut our cake. Almost no one was sat near us so we got some really nice photos and videos of the gender reveal without other customers nearby. I was very appreciative they left the back section pretty empty for us. I stayed at the Lido House and visited the Mayor's Table after a long day of travel. I was greeted and served by Joseph at the bar and he was fantastic. Super attentive and customer centric. The food was awesome, the octopus was amazing!! The chef came out to let me know that my salmon was taking a bit longer because he was breaking down a whole new fish, I really appreciated that! It didn't even feel that way because I was still working on my appetizer, so the extra attentiveness was unexpected and so nice. There was a wasted party at the bar with a man that I felt was demeaning to the staff but Joseph and his team handled them with courtesy and grace regardless. I wanted to say something! So let me just start by saying I REALLY wanted to like this place. I try not to write bad reviews unless absolutely necessary. But I do try to approach Yelp with some fidelity to its purpose. It's comfortable in the nicest way possible. A great place to catch up with friends. Also the service is great. Shout out to our server, Jose. He was phenomenal. Made sure to check-in but didn't hover. He definitely made the experience comfortable. If service and ambiance were the only qualifiers, I'd happily give this place 5 stars. Unfortunately the food was a bit underwhelming. It did, however, start off well. They provided an amuse-bouche which was a nice touch. I wasn't expecting it so I ate it before taking a picture or even getting clarity on what it was. A blue cheese stuffed grape tomato is likely the best description I can provide. Suffice it to say, it was tasty. We ordered the baked onion dip for a starter. This was the star of the night. The bread, some sort of pillowy pita, was insanely good and the dip was so flavorful. I would come back just for this. For mains we ordered the pork chop (which came highly recommended), the burger and the truffle orecchiette and cheese. It was fine. All a bit bland but a bit of a let down. I'm willing to try this place again. It really is a beautiful space and the menu is seasonal so perhaps I'll find something I like better. This food is trash and the price is worse. We had a wonderful waitress named Tiffany.. but all the good starts and stops with her. The prawns they brought out stunk and were mushy. I mentioned it and the chef said that's how they are supposed to be. Terrible. My wife got the fried fish tacos. Somehow even fried they had a fishy smell. The bar does look welcoming. From the moment we checked in for our reservation the manager, Shubham made sure to seat us in a comfortable area. Our server, Joshua came shortly after and was extremely attentive, he checked on us multiple times and ensured our daughter received her pasta exactly how she requested. We placed a reservation almost 2 months in advance. Was completely confirmed. We were asked via email and text if we would like to use the preset valentines menu. We politely declined as we were planning on getting so much more than what the preset menu offered. Then, last night at 10pm we received this message. I took my daughter to The Mayor's Table for Thanksgiving lunch and we had a wonderful time, starting from our approach to the beautifully kept grounds and buildings, which had my daughter skipping w joy. The dishes were all well thought out, prettily plated, generously portioned (enough for leftovers even though one of us had a kid's meal), very reasonably priced for what was offered, and, yes, delicious. Van D and I celebrated her bday at this restaurant at the Lido Hotel in Newport Beach. Its the site of the old City Hall. They offer seafood and vegetable forward cuisine that includes a raw bar. We started off with oysters that we liked so much that we had a second order. For our entrees, I had the steak and Van had the fish. We also split some fries. My steak was very good and medium rare as requested. However, like most of the menu, it seemed overpriced. Van really disliked her fish bc there were a lot of bones. On the hand the fries were excellent bc they were GBD and bc of the truffle. Regarding the ambiance, its a big space and they have outdoor seating also. Its open air and you can see the kitchen. Our waiter José was super nice and attentive. He took excellent care of us for this special occasion dinner. Although this is 4 Stars, I will likely not return. Gave this place a try as the original place we wanted to go to was packed and did not allow reservations. Our experience was great with Jose as our server. Took some time for him to come to our table but he made up for it with making sure i enjoyed my cocktail since I was celebrating my birthday. They make all cocktails from scratch which I like. My sea bass was ok. The skin could've been crisper. My friend and I enjoyed the side mushrooms the most. Better than either the dishes we had as it was unique and well flavored. Thank you to my Yelp Bro Joe P. for always putting in the effort to making my birth months special!! Mayor's Table is located in the Lido House Hotel by Marriott Bonvoy in the Lido Village area. The ambiance and service was really on point, so I can see how travelling guests from the hotel or those who are not particular with their food might like it here. Jose greeted me upon my arrival and he took care of us throughout the night. I think Joe Joe and Jose really hit it off. They were bromo-ing the whole time. I was definitely the third wheel haha. Joe P. brought a fancy bottle of the Chateau Montelena (corkage fee $25) and Jose offered to bring us a decanter for the tannins to breath. Very fancy. After the wine had some time to sit, Jose kept our glasses well refilled throughout the night. When we were reviewing the menu, neither of us were too excited about the menu. When making the reservation, we saw a lovely Octopus leg, but the menu had changed since then. We started off with 8 Designer Oysters ($4/each). So OC right? Even our oysters need to be designer. No knock offs please. These come with champagne mignonette and raspberry pearls. Very fresh and tasty! For our meal, Joe P. had the 18 oz. Prime Bone-In New York Steak ($72) and I had their Wild Catch of the Day ($44) which happened to be a seabass. We also shared a side of their James fries ($18). Joe P. seemed to really enjoy his steak. I had a bite and it was nice but nothing mind blowing. On the other hand my wild catch of the day was less successful. The description below was "ancho chili, fava beans, asparagus, herb salad"... sounds fine. My fish comes out SMEARED with all this random stuff that this beautiful fish really could have been made without. And SKIN DOWN!! Which made the skin soggy and rubbery, which really does this beautiful fish a disservice. To make it worse I sat there spitting out an endless amount of fish bones... Like definitely 20+ fish bones. Good thing I was just with Joe P. and not on some hot date or that would be really awkward spitting up bones the whole time. I liked the fries with the truffle aioli sauce more than I liked my entree. They gave me a dessert menu to look at in which I would have picked the Saffron-Infused Panna Cotta, but they sent me a complimentary Strawberry White Chocolate Brownie ($14 value). It was good but on the sweet side, and not something I would pick for myself. But nevertheless a kind gesture. Jose was so nice and his above and beyond service is the only reason this isn't a 2 or 3 star review. Sorry but even a more affordable California Fish Grill never serves me fish with any bones let alone that many bones. And so dining like the Mayor isn't enough for me... The service was great and the atmosphere was nice. We've been twice now; once for brunch and once for dinner. Our brunch was great and food was amazing. Our dinner was a different story. To be fair, it was a brand new menu and I think they were working out the kinks still but we did not enjoy the dinner. The salmon was fishy and my wife did not finish it. My flat iron was pretty good and enjoyed it but I do think it was slightly salty. We also ordered spinach artichoke dip which had a twist and we liked the bread but the dip itself was just ok. Never heard of any restaurant serving steak charging over $50 a steak to serve such a horrible cut. took 45 min to cook otherwise we could have sent it back. Also be careful with online booking and buying champagne toast. We had thought it was necessary online to purchase for a larger reservation size but it was not and we asked for a refund immediately / it took over a month and 5 phone calls and emailing the food/ bev head Quentin gravet for this restaurant to credit back $250. This is unheard of for a hotel such as Lido house that has been around for some time and its in-house restaurant to treat any guest there in this manner to be given a run around for a credit. read more
