If you don't want to read the long winded explanation below, I will make a long story short. I would recommend this place to anyone.
I needed to have the frame on my truck welded back together 4 years after purchasing it from Martin Chevrolet. When I bought it from Martin, it came with an aftermarket 3 inch lift in the front. It turns out that lift was done terribly, and the straps used to hold my suspension down were literally cracking the frame on both sides.
I went to a couple of places to get it looked at, one place had a guy who was doing the welding who didn't even speak English, so I had to speak with the shop owner about the work and he said they would weld it back together for $4-500, and that was about it (just weld it, nothing else). So, I decided to shop around a bit. While I was still looking for other locations, Tomcat was actually recommended to me by a guy named Eric? (I apologize to him if I am spelling his name wrong) who works at 4 Wheel Parts.
I called Tom and he told me to come by and he would take a look. When I got there, I instantly felt comfortable. He let me know that he does all of his own work, he got down under my truck to took a look at the job and let me know his opinion. I had a lot of questions for him, as you can imagine. I also told him how much I was quoted at the other shop. He was upfront and honest. He told me he would not be as cheap as the guy mentioned above, but that he would do the job right. Now, let me mention that I have a 6 month old son, and safety is a huge concern for me. I can quote him saying "I have never been sued by anyone for letting them leave here with something that isn't fixed, and I don't plan on starting." He had a lot of recommendations for me, and definitely sounded like he knew what he was talking about.
After thinking it over for a few days, I decided to go with him.
It took him 1 full day to do the entire job. He let me come in while he was working to show me how the lift had been improperly installed and gave me a lot of advice as to what I should look out for in the future. He wasn't as cheap as the guy above, it was a couple hundred dollars higher, but he not only welded my frame back together, he added huge plates to the frame, welded them on, and painted them so you wouldn't notice what was done unless you really looked. When I picked it up, he told me he drove it around and went off a few curbs to make sure it was solid. He said he would rather have something go wrong with him behind the wheel than me.
Again, I would recommend this guy to anyone who asks. He was great. read more
