Lovely, cozy little restaurant with some of the most fresh and tasty traditional Dutch food we had while in Amsterdam. The restaurant is small with dim lighting, perfect for an intimate dinner with a friend or loved one. They also have several board games and books to use while there, we played Connect Four over beers while waiting for our food to arrive. The portions are very large, we had the tomato soup and the starter portion of ravioli filled with mash pot served with Dutch beef stew. Both dishes were great and so flavorful. The tomato soup was thick and definitely not your average bowl of tomato soup. We were pretty full after these 2 dishes so we didn't even get a chance to try some of the delicious sounding main plates. We ended our meal with the crepe with blood orange ice cream which was the only dish that we weren't really crazy about, cold ice cream that just tasted like orange sherbet, nothing very special here. Our server was very friendly, it was our first night in Amsterdam and he gave us a few tips about the city and just chatted with us for a bit before we headed out for the night. Great experience at Tomaz, would definitely recommend to others!

If I get only one meal in Amsterdam, it must be from Tomaz. This trip I had a single night. Found Tomaz's place and enjoyed the Stamppot. On this occasion it was Pork chop and Spinach Mash Potatoes. Accompanied the meal with Leffe beer. Will be back if I get the chance.

We ate here on our first night in Amsterdam based on the Yelp reviews. The food here was really delicious and the restaurant/pub has it's own lovely charm. There is an outdoor area to sit and we were lucky enough to have perfect weather for sitting outside. The service was good most of the time we were there, however dropped off as they got busy.

Everything we had was fantastic. The owner and host was working hard, but came by our table to chat with us. He has a collection of various paper money taped to the wall... My colleague just happened to have 15 EC handy (about $4-5 US)... He donated it and the owner donated pint of beer! Collectively we had the barely dish, traditional Dutch beef stew and an asparagus and ham dish. Everyone was very happy. For dessert we had waffles with intense citrus ice cream and a three chocolate combo - wowza! The ratings are well deserved.

Another hole in the wall in Amsterdam serving delicious filling meat dishes. The place is cozy with a few tables indoors and out. Service was friendly. I'd go for the meatball! Did not even have room for dessert after main coarse. This was groupon 3-course dinner. We skipped the desserts since we were too full.

Came here on a Friday night. Outside looked packed, but inside super roomy. Cozy, laid back vibe inside with chill music. Stampot was excellent, reasonable portion and delicious.

It's not your typical "dinner out" spot--it's a humble counter inside a subway station--but the food is arguably some of the best Surinese soul food in Amsterdam. Why it's worth the stop: * The Sandwiches: The Broodje Pom is the star here. It's flavorful, authentic, and served on a fresh roll. * Efficiency: They move through the line fast. It's the ultimate grab-and-go meal that actually feels homemade. * Authenticity: It's local, unpretentious, and consistently high quality. Things to know: It is located inside the station, so there's no "ambience" to speak of and seating is very limited. It's definitely more of a "stand and eat" or "take it to the park" kind of place. Overall: It might not be a fancy sit-down experience, but for the price and the flavor, it's easily one of the best quick bites in the city.

Food was reasonable in price and great tasting, although some would find the portions small. I found them just right. Get some home made French fries on the side if you are hungry. At the end the single espresso was really good. Recommended.

Having never had it before, I was pleasantly surprised to see how many different parts of Asia seemed to influence this cuisine, especially given that Suriname is a South American country! There is satay, nasi goreng, goat curry, etc - stuff inspired from all over Asia but slightly different than you would get in their original countries. I ordered the chicken Longtong which is an Indonesian dish and a specialty of this place. It was OUTSTANDING and really filled me up too. I did not expect that especially given how nice and cheap it was - I had even ordered an extra side of Satay skewers which I then had to share. Service is nice and quick especially since you mostly just interact at the back stand to order, and then sit down. It was a bit crowded inside but the vibe is nice and we were able to get a table without waiting too much. One minor note is that our cards were not accepted here (visa, Mastercard), so make sure you bring cash! They did a good job of communicating this before we ordered so we did not have to waste too much time, and luckily we had just enough cash anyway. Overall, very solid recommendation for Amsterdam!
