The oldest bakery in Amsterdam! Since 1898. Specialties include fresh sourdough bread, croissants and their legendary freshly made Stroopwafels. Open daily from 8am - 10pm.

These pressed waffles were the most delicious thing I've ever tasted! The place was packed but we were with a tour guide that got ours fairly quickly while we chatted with our group members. The shop was very small but quaint as you watch them prepare the pressed waffles in front of you! Delicious!!!

Must eat when roaming the streets of Amsterdam. Staff is super friendly. It was a thrill to watch them make our treats.

This is a must stop while roaming Amsterdam. The staff is super friendly and it was a thrill to watch them make our wafels.

Really pricey stroopwafels especially when Rudi's and other vendors at markets are making it fresh and for half the price but your girl came on the one day the open air market was closed so I had to fork out 8 euro or something for this. All I can say is the Albert heijn brand stroopwafels were BETTER. These were totally double the size but they were also 4 times the cost. I get it's probably because they're the oldest bakery in Amsterdam but damn. I went for experience's sake but if you're in Amsterdam for more than 24 hours unlike me, go somewhere else and get a bang for your buck.

Known as the oldest Bakery in Amsterdam Bakkerij Egstorf is found at Spuistraat 274, hours from 08h00 until 22h00 finding staff making fresh Stroopwafels though the key is actually arriving early when Viennoiserie are still hot on the rack just moments out the oven. Established in 1898, a reliance on historic recipes eschewing a need to do things for the #gram, guests at Hans Egstorf are welcomed warmly by fourth generation ownership that clearly cares about doing things right from the kitchen to packaging. Baking throughout the day, fresh Sourdough amongst the best in town per locals, Croissants sell for just €3 each and whether one selects natural local Butter or freshly-made Almond Paste the rise is generous around soft insides that can also be filled with a single or double baton of Dark Chocolate.

    She's making fresh ones!

Wow this place smells amazing and I bought four bottle boxes in cardboard of their special to go. Also I bought an apple turnover for later. Service is friendly, leave outside is fine, but once opened must finish within 24 days. Highly recommended!

During my research, reviews said that Hans Egstorf is the oldest bakery in Amsterdam. And it was one of the highest rated places for stroopwafels, which is a must-try when visiting the city. When I arrived, I was expecting a more rustic aesthetic but it's pretty modern-looking for the oldest bakery. There isn't any sitting room inside and the service is fast...meant to serve customers as fast as possible so it's not too crowded inside. If you want to eat on the spot, there's a small bench just outside but most people will be standing and eating their purchases. When you order a stroopwafel, it's made fresh right in front of you. It probably comes from experience but the way they can slice the wafel into two thin halves is pretty impressive. These are best eaten fresh and warm so the caramel is still soft and kind of gooey. Make sure to hold it flat or else the sauce will ooze out from the bottom. Overall, very delicious but also very expensive when compared to other options. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to eat a stroopwafel here but would buy one if passing by.

I am no stranger to stroopwafel, while not well-known in the the US it's easy enough to find them at TJ Max, Marshalls, Whole Foods and even Costco, among other places. Therefore, when I was planning my trip to Amsterdam, eating a fresh off the grill stroopwafel is on my bucket list. When I found out about Hans Egstorf, the oldest bakery in town, this seems like the perfect spot to fulfill my wish. The staff is very nice, and their stroopwafel is hands down the best I have ever had. Not just because it's warm and crunchy, it is also not as sweet. Yes they do have a generous layer of caramel but somehow it just tastes better. It's definitely more expensive than other places, you can get one at Albert Cuyp for half the price. But I totally didn't feel overpaid, because this place does make it better. Even the ones I took home, still tastes better than what I got at Costco or TJ Max.

Very cute store. I had a fresh stroopwafel and it was good, not great. It was overpriced, but it seems like most people who go here are doing it for the Gram. If you don't care about finding the city's BEST stroopwafel and are okay paying €7.50 for a good one at a cute shop, go here.

The oldest bakery in Amsterdam apparently? I saw all the great things about it and happened to just casually walk by. The stroopwafels were calling my name as well as the beautiful croissants, but I first just took a quick browse. Later in the day though, I knew I had to come back and try a fresh stroopwafel. They have a basket filled with dough, and make it fresh right in front of you. Stroopwafels used to not be something I really enjoyed, but after this trip I am now a huge fan. The waffle itself was massive - definitely share! It was warm, filled with sugary syrup, and almost a little too much of it. While delicious, I almost have to say that I still prefer the store packaged ones - something about the chewiness is just so addicting. This was still a great spot to visit and try though!

Yes. This famous stroopwafel shop. I saw it has amazing reviews on Yelp and google. It's about 8€ a stroopwafel. They're made fresh in front of you as well! So it's always super hot when you get it. Be careful not to burn yourself. At first first bite, I was disappointed since I only had the batter and didn't get to the brown sugar, butter, and cinnamon yet. But trust, don't stop there, keep eating and youill reach the ooey gooey deliciousness of a fresh hot stroopwafel. Sadly, I only got 2 bites of the ooey gooey yummy gunk before I dropped it right in front of the store LOL. There goes 4€ . Still a great first stroopwafel experience. Id recommend one to be shared between two or three people. It's a pretty good size and I don't think I would've finished it alone. More of an everyone take a couple bites type of snack in my opinion.

We had seen the reviews for this place previously and it definitely didn't disappoint. The waffles are made right in front of you and only takes a couple minutes. I also ordered a meat pastry that came right out of the oven and was incredible. Keeping the waffle maker right in the window is a great look and a really cool addition. The ambiance of the place was also great. I would definitely recommend if you want a quick and delicious waffle!

Came here as the reviews were really good. There was a short line that went outside the shop but it moved really quickly. They have stroopwafels made fresh and some other baked items. After ordering my stroopwafel they handed me a freshly made one just shortly after. It was still warm and tasted so good! Missing this place from back home. Definitely give it a visit!

There were cannolis, cream puffs, cookies, donuts, cakes, macarons and there were also sandwiches and pizza type breads. We bought a cream puff with Bavian cream, a chocolate covered cream puff with the standard cream filing and a chocolate covered croissant. Everyone was happy with their purchases and I was especially happy with my cream puff with the Bavian cream. The surrounding cake was light and airy and the cream was delicious; not quite whipped cream (like American version) but like a combination of whipped cream and vanilla custard. The filling was very light and the entire pastry did not leave any heavy feeling at all. The 2 chocolate pastries were consumed without complaints. The chocolate croissant I noticed, was completely dipped in chocolate rather than a croissant that has chocolate inside. This bakery lives up to its c'est magnifique name!

You have set the bar for every patisserie and croissanterie I visit from now on. MY GOODNESS. I don't even know where to start. I visited you more times than I care to admit. And each time, your fruit tartes, custard croissants, crumble cakes, and cappuccinos made me dread the day I was to leave Amsterdam. For I knew no other place would ever compare. This small, unassuming place is located smack in the middle of the bustling Leidsestraat shopping district. The glass counter houses a plethora of sweet goodness (see my pics). The same girl was there each day making coffee and running back and forth from the kitchen in the back. Pastries are made fresh multiple times a day so everything is always fresh. Once you grab your order, there is a long table with stools that runs along the right wall. The smell of ground coffee beans and fresh baked bread filled the air, and spilled onto the street making it impossible to pass by without stopping in. They are open until at least 10pm but I'm not sure of their exact hours. And they open early too. Sweet, sweet danger. I am saddened that you are so far away from me. *insert sad face here*
