    Cappuccino, latte and tarts

Super yummy tarts, came a little late in the day and still tasted good. Service was average, nothing bad but nothing over the top.

Ini mini miny moe... If I'm left with the choice to get a cupcake at the new cup cake shop or a petit darling, it would be a no-brainer. Whereas cupcakes often fail to impress me, I immediately knew was on to something good as soon as I laid my eyes on to those little colorful beauties staring at me from the vitrine of Petit Gateau at the culinary extravaganza Taste of Amsterdam that took place last rogue "summer". Don't know but when I think of cupcake stores, I think of avid home bakers having a quarter life crisis tired of their office job and in dire need of change and starting over, starting something fun...So, why not open a cupcake shop...What you end up with is amateurish dry, bland bottom cake with the all the taste only in the usually too sweet top frosting. Contrary, I was instantly impressed with Petit Gateau. Little did I know the shop is run by professionally Parisian trained pastry chefs. Their miniminis haven't disappointed me yet. So far I've tried 3 kinds, but flavors are infinite. Almost requiring a notebook to write down all those wonderful creations in order to make a solid choice. I am indeed happy to see, they sell more than just miniminis and offer French classics such as éclairs! (which are otherwise hard to come by in A'dam) They also do breakfast, which I bet they do really well as well...

very nice little French cakes crafted by a French family. On taste, appearance and choice I have nothing to say. I confess that after 2.5 € for their relatively small I find it expensive. it takes two to make a cake that In normal buys bakery, which amounts to 5 € and 10 € for 2 people. I am a little disappointed ...

Chocolade creme is to die for. Almond pear was good too

These petite tarts just made me consider creating a last-meal-on-earth wish list. They are rich and but small enough to not give you that post-dessert-regret feeling. It's great to have a couple flavors and share with friends with a tea or coffee in their upstairs area. If you like chocolate, you can't go wrong with the chocolade creme! -- Had their croissants recently. Buttery and delicious. Seems you really can't go wrong here.

Whooo, I finally tried the delicious goodies at this place. Well, I haven't tried that much yet, but the things I did try, were delicious! :) I sat down upstairs with my boyfriend to have a coffee break. There are 3 little tables and 1 big communal table. The staff was quick and friendly and told us that if we wanted some pastries we could choose them downstairs. I choose a lemon tart and a raspberry macaroon to go with my cappuccino. The cappuccino was good and came with a raspberry filled madeleine :) It tasted very good. The raspberry macaroon was delicious! Great quality macaroon, still soft inside with fresh cream in the middle. The lemon tart was also delicious. I am looking forward to try more of this place! It was so good. My boyfriend told me the praline and salted caramel tarts were also amazing. If you order tea, like he did, you will get a little pot which is good for filling your cup 4 times! That's why I also tried some tea, and it was one of the best teas I tried in a while. I love this place!

They have real chocolate eclairs! They were so good the first bite compelled me to recreate the Meg Ryan restaurant orgasm scene from When Harry Met Sally. Thank God I was in the privacy of my own home at my kitchen table when that happened. They're a bit pricey, 2 eclairs and 6 petit gateaus cost 21 euros, but I didn't care, as it was cheaper than a trip to Paris, but just as tasty. All of the petit gateaus were delicious, but I want to give an honorable mention to the caramelized apple (unbelievably strong and clear flavor!) and this one I can't remember the name of that is a Japanese lemon mixed with mandarin flavors. Maru-something? It was way more interesting than your average lemon petit gateau. There appeared to be a class going on at the time I stopped in, which made me glad they were trying to spread their excellence. Definitely check them out!

Things just sound more appealing when written in French. Like petit gâteau, little cake. But in this case they also sell an exciting product: little cakes indeed, round and with a diameter of around 7 centimeters - sweet! And there's something for everyone: milk chocolate, dark chocolate, caramel, crumble, pistachio, almond, apple pie, berries etc. The cute little ones look so innocent. But don't come here with a craving for sweets and you "only want to get something small". Meh, you'll walk out with 3 at least. You don't wanna keep all the calories for yourself, isn't it? Sharing is caring. Visit the Petit Gâteau stall at the Neighbour Food Market in Westerpark and get the perfect dessert for you and your crew, and then chill out in the sun.

Chocolate mousse and banana dark chocolate crumble :)

This place has picked my interest some times ago due to their name as well as their outside decoration. And so I have decided to come in and see what's inside. Gosh, I was melt by the heavenly smell of chocolate and coffee that are all over the places. There was whole range of different bite-size tarts and I didn't know which one to choose since all looks yum to me. So I decided to go with one with chocolate mousse on top and one with banana chocolate crumble. Damn, WORTH IT TO TRY!

This place is absolutely delightful! It has a hipster feel and reminded me of my hometown (SF Bay Area). I ordered an iced coffee which came very lightly sweetened with the ice blended on top in a froth. €2.5. I also ordered the white chocolate pineapple tart, which came with a light vanilla bean icing. €2.5. I was initially hesitant on paying so much for a treat smaller than the size of my palm, but it was truly worth it. The pineapple tasted so... fresh. :D Wish I had enough time & money to try out all the other fancy flavors! Other benefits: friendly baristas and free wifi.

Located on a busy pedestrian street between tourist shops and coffeehouses, this little bakery is such a gem! I've been to Amsterdam three times, and always make a point to stop by for a cappuccino and a few of these amazing little tarts! There are also a few small tables upstairs as well as free wifi, if you want to take a break from trekking around the city. Otherwise they lovingly pack them into little boxes for take away. Every single tart that I've tried has been amazing, though my favorites are the citron meringue and raspberry pistachio. Oh, and bring some euros, as this place is CASH ONLY.

Play with some tic-tac-toes while you wait!

Amazing and delicious tarts! We had the pistachio cherry crumble and the mango-pineapple ones along with orange madeleines. Its was pure bliss..

I was thinking of picking up a few breakfast treats and came across this bakery on my way back to…read moremy hotel. The pastries caught my eye in the glass case. There were cannolis, cream puffs, cookies, donuts, cakes, macarons and there were also sandwiches and pizza type breads. We bought a cream puff with Bavian cream, a chocolate covered cream puff with the standard cream filing and a chocolate covered croissant. Everyone was happy with their purchases and I was especially happy with my cream puff with the Bavian cream. The surrounding cake was light and airy and the cream was delicious; not quite whipped cream (like American version) but like a combination of whipped cream and vanilla custard. The filling was very light and the entire pastry did not leave any heavy feeling at all. The 2 chocolate pastries were consumed without complaints. The chocolate croissant I noticed, was completely dipped in chocolate rather than a croissant that has chocolate inside. This bakery lives up to its c'est magnifique name!

My favorite place in Amsterdam missing from Yelp? I had to add you Croissanterie C'est Magnifique…read more And you are simply that: MAGNIFICENT. You have set the bar for every patisserie and croissanterie I visit from now on. MY GOODNESS. I don't even know where to start. I visited you more times than I care to admit. And each time, your fruit tartes, custard croissants, crumble cakes, and cappuccinos made me dread the day I was to leave Amsterdam. For I knew no other place would ever compare. This small, unassuming place is located smack in the middle of the bustling Leidsestraat shopping district. The glass counter houses a plethora of sweet goodness (see my pics). The same girl was there each day making coffee and running back and forth from the kitchen in the back. Pastries are made fresh multiple times a day so everything is always fresh. Once you grab your order, there is a long table with stools that runs along the right wall. The smell of ground coffee beans and fresh baked bread filled the air, and spilled onto the street making it impossible to pass by without stopping in. They are open until at least 10pm but I'm not sure of their exact hours. And they open early too. Sweet, sweet danger. I am saddened that you are so far away from me. *insert sad face here*

The waffle was fresh, covered in powered sugar first and then amazing, rich chocolate that melted in your mouth/ hands and the combination was just divine.
