Whooo, I finally tried the delicious goodies at this place. Well, I haven't tried that much yet, but the things I did try, were delicious! :) I sat down upstairs with my boyfriend to have a coffee break. There are 3 little tables and 1 big communal table. The staff was quick and friendly and told us that if we wanted some pastries we could choose them downstairs. I choose a lemon tart and a raspberry macaroon to go with my cappuccino. The cappuccino was good and came with a raspberry filled madeleine :) It tasted very good. The raspberry macaroon was delicious! Great quality macaroon, still soft inside with fresh cream in the middle. The lemon tart was also delicious. I am looking forward to try more of this place! It was so good. My boyfriend told me the praline and salted caramel tarts were also amazing. If you order tea, like he did, you will get a little pot which is good for filling your cup 4 times! They have real chocolate eclairs! They were so good the first bite compelled me to recreate the Meg Ryan restaurant orgasm scene from When Harry Met Sally. Thank God I was in the privacy of my own home at my kitchen table when that happened. They're a bit pricey, 2 eclairs and 6 petit gateaus cost 21 euros, but I didn't care, as it was cheaper than a trip to Paris, but just as tasty. All of the petit gateaus were delicious, but I want to give an honorable mention to the caramelized apple (unbelievably strong and clear flavor!) and this one I can't remember the name of that is a Japanese lemon mixed with mandarin flavors. Maru-something? It was way more interesting than your average lemon petit gateau. This place is absolutely delightful! It has a hipster feel and reminded me of my hometown (SF Bay Area). I ordered an iced coffee which came very lightly sweetened with the ice blended on top in a froth. €2.5. I also ordered the white chocolate pineapple tart, which came with a light vanilla bean icing. €2.5. I was initially hesitant on paying so much for a treat smaller than the size of my palm, but it was truly worth it. Located on a busy pedestrian street between tourist shops and coffeehouses, this little bakery is such a gem! I've been to Amsterdam three times, and always make a point to stop by for a cappuccino and a few of these amazing little tarts! This charming little bakery has been in my bookmarks for a while and I was very excited when the opportunity arose to check it out. My boyfriend and I went here for brunch. Please note that the menu on the website has been changed and limited to only a few items which led to a bit of disappointment for me. Also, their chef had gone out to do groceries (at 11 am on a Saturday morning) so we waited for an hour for our order. We had pastries to fill the time. Their petit gâteau are to die for. The madeleines are very nice as well. The food once it arrived (scrambled eggs and American pancakes) were also very good. We bought some more boxes of the petit gâteau to take home. I don't know why we waited so long to eat brunch here! Since their opening in September we've stopped by for their delicious tarts, which we are a huge fan of, but have never sat down and stayed for some of the offerings off their menu. Today I think we sound our new favourite brunch spot in Amsterdam! I had the french toast and my husband had the eggs benedict. Basically the opposite of one another (one sweet and one savory)... but oh my were they both delectable. The french toast was made from brioche and served with caramelized apple, caramel sauce on the side and cinnamon mascarpone -- fabulous! The bite I had of my husbands egg benedict was also delicious -- a point upon we both agreed. Alongside our brunch we also had cappuccinos which were good. The cafe portion is located upstairs with a few small tables and one large communal table alongside the semi-open kitchen (you can watch as the chef makes your hollandaise sauce fresh). It's a "gezellige" atmosphere with friendly staff. One thing to point out: If you are staying to eat in the cafe, you are supposed to order downstairs at the bar. We didn't realize that, so we waited a while until a waiter asked if we had already ordered and was kind enough to take our order down for us. So all in all -- Highly Recommended. Thank you to my fellow yelper, Thamar N, for recommending this phenomenal little bakery to me. This is a great place for a simple "tarte du jour" and coffee. The chef is French and you can taste it in the food. Very nice presentation, great quality and great taste. They even have workshops ( for adults and kids) which I am a total fan of. This gets more people to understand the work and love that goes into creating a great tasting dessert. It shows in the end product and this pastry shop definitely shows it in their products. I tried a few tarts the chocolate crème which was just perfect, the pate sucre tart shell is . Next was the kers clafoutis which was a nicely balanced with the sweet and tartness of the cherries) banane chocolat crumble was super yummy, again nice balance of both components. Last but not least we're the madeleines, pistachio and citron, were good even though in my opinion the pistachio was a bit too sweet and almondy for me but still a great place with traditional French pastries!! read more
