Yummies

Passed by this place while out exploring the town. We each got a ham and cheese croissant. They were so good. In addition to the cheese they put inside of the pastry they also put parmesan cheese on top and then toasted it. I'm over here drooling now just thinking about them. We went by again on our last day and got another one along with some cookies. This was a great place to finish off our visit.

Croque monsieur

Delicious pastries and readily re-heated sandwich and savories. I had breakfast here more than once - it was so good! The people working were very friendly, even first thing in the morning And it was a convenient stop next to the Metro and my hotel. If you just want a relaxing snack, there are two parks close by where you can watch birds on the canals or just take in the atmosphere.

Tge service was quick and friendly. We enjoyed the pastries. There was a very hectic time, as was Easter Sunday so the ambiance was a bit off, but definitely will try their pastries if I see any other Simon bakery while traveling Europe.

Yummy! This was one of the first places I went to with my awesome host Alli K. Just a terrific assortment of fresh breads, desserts and these pizza breads that were delicious...or as they say in Dutch. Lekker! Right next to Stedelijk Museum and the Van Gogh Museum. Drop by here for a quick snack.

Love this place . Found it walking back from the Van Gogh museum . To the Iron Horse Hotel . I had the Croque Monsieur, it was AMAZING , and the almond croissant was delicious . Everything was so fresh and the people working there were very nice .

The sheer proximity of this place to my hotel meant that I came here multiple times. Had a chocolate croissant and a chocolate almond croissant. Both were really good and not terribly expensive. They have a pretty wide selection of yummies here. Based on the lines at the couple of different times I came in, this place seems pretty popular with the locals as well. I kind of wish I tried more items - I bought more items but ended up giving them away to coworkers.

Really delicious pastries, cakes and sandwiches. Serves coffee too! Has both sweet and savoury. Great staff, we had it on the way to the Van Gogh museum. (No food in the museum tho!) Staff are really friendly and they speak English. They also welcome credit cards.

Apple beignet

A great spot to stop by after the museum of before heading to a very nice shopping spree. I decided to go for the Apple beignet that was really delicious but could have been a bit warmed up to suit entirely my taste. Also I like that hidden cherry in the middle of it that gives a little twist. Coffee and hot chocolate comes out of a commercial automatic machine so nothing fancy here. Price are average (around 3euros) And there were still choice just 30 minutes before their closing time. The only big no-no on this place is that they use their hands to pick up your pastry or bread or money... they don't use the pastry tong available. I thought it is not hygienic but in the same time I have seen it often in Amsterdam... is it like something normal over here??

Cookies, muffins, and tarts oh my!

This place is magical. Delicious affordable sweet and savory pastries with a huge variety! I wish I always lived next to one.

Almond croissant

Almond croissant! Haven't stopped thinking about this delicious croissant I had for breakfast this morning. I took a few bites and realized I better get a picture of it before it was all gone. I was not expecting the custard almond paste in the middle. I went back this evening and they were sold out. Now I have to wait till they reopen in the morning.

Never ever do I recommend this place. Worst service, obnoxious staff, and wouldn't pay for anything.

I can only speak for the almond croissant which is certainly one of the best I've had.

I was thinking of picking up a few breakfast treats and came across this bakery on my way back to…read moremy hotel. The pastries caught my eye in the glass case. There were cannolis, cream puffs, cookies, donuts, cakes, macarons and there were also sandwiches and pizza type breads. We bought a cream puff with Bavian cream, a chocolate covered cream puff with the standard cream filing and a chocolate covered croissant. Everyone was happy with their purchases and I was especially happy with my cream puff with the Bavian cream. The surrounding cake was light and airy and the cream was delicious; not quite whipped cream (like American version) but like a combination of whipped cream and vanilla custard. The filling was very light and the entire pastry did not leave any heavy feeling at all. The 2 chocolate pastries were consumed without complaints. The chocolate croissant I noticed, was completely dipped in chocolate rather than a croissant that has chocolate inside. This bakery lives up to its c'est magnifique name!

My favorite place in Amsterdam missing from Yelp? I had to add you Croissanterie C'est Magnifique…read more And you are simply that: MAGNIFICENT. You have set the bar for every patisserie and croissanterie I visit from now on. MY GOODNESS. I don't even know where to start. I visited you more times than I care to admit. And each time, your fruit tartes, custard croissants, crumble cakes, and cappuccinos made me dread the day I was to leave Amsterdam. For I knew no other place would ever compare. This small, unassuming place is located smack in the middle of the bustling Leidsestraat shopping district. The glass counter houses a plethora of sweet goodness (see my pics). The same girl was there each day making coffee and running back and forth from the kitchen in the back. Pastries are made fresh multiple times a day so everything is always fresh. Once you grab your order, there is a long table with stools that runs along the right wall. The smell of ground coffee beans and fresh baked bread filled the air, and spilled onto the street making it impossible to pass by without stopping in. They are open until at least 10pm but I'm not sure of their exact hours. And they open early too. Sweet, sweet danger. I am saddened that you are so far away from me. *insert sad face here*

The counter was packed with beautiful looking, freshly baked European breakfast pastries. Two cappuccinos, two raisin snails and two little tarts stuffed with almond paste were more than enough... OK, maybe WAY more than enough than we needed! But I have a weakness for that golden brown, sweet and crunchy goodness. Yum. The young ladies who work there are charming, pleasant and efficient. It's a wonderful place for a quick snack or a delicious start to the day.

My breakfast included a large glass of fresh-squeezed orange juice, toast, perfectly-cooked scrambled eggs with gouda cheese, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers, a warmed fresh pastry, and a large cappucino for about €17. This neighborhood is packed with bars, clubs, restaurants, and coffeeshops and young people who party late into the night. I think we were the first customers to show up when they opened for business at 9:00 AM on Sunday. The two girls that run it were a little bleary-eyed, but got it together for us even though the Rembrantplein was deserted at that hour like a ghost town.

I've lived in the Netherlands for 2 years so I'm very accustomed to the "it's the customer's fault" attitude but these are very clearly overbaked, almost burnt. I don't often complain or ask for a refund but I can't even eat the cookies or finish the cake. The juice however was very good. I wish I had checked yelp before ordering but the pictures on their site and FB looked good.

So delicious, fresh, and definitely popular since they didn't have it on days when I stopped in after 12pm. The cookies were also amazing. Tried a bunch of flavors, and every one was on point. The waffle, however, was the best thing I've eaten in Amsterdam all week. Had to go with the chocolate covered version, and it did not disappoint. The waffle was fresh, covered in powered sugar first and then amazing, rich chocolate that melted in your mouth/ hands and the combination was just divine. I will definitely be back, just for this, but next time after a long jog.
