The walk up to Tomato Pie from Hyperion.

350 pm, Wednesday, August 20, 2025 I just snuck in to order the daily special (slice, salad, drink) for $10.99. First time here so might as well try the combo. I asked for the most popular slice (Grandma), a house salad with balsamic. The self serve fountain is around the back, lol. I've always wondered about this place. I'm unsure if they have a full size dining room! Seems like a place that is mainly for take out but has 4 petite booths. I asked the head honcho for more info and he said there's an outdoor patio too. Ooh baby! That slice hit the spot! It was warmed up. I believe and still had a bit of crispiness on the crust. The house salad was great too with the balsamic dressing tossed together. Shoot, next time I'm here for a somewhat quick service at Electric Ave I am returning to Tomato Pie for the daily deal! It hit extra good cause I've been avoiding fast food for a long minute.

Solid pizza joint with a nice diner aesthetic. Fast service. Check out the art store nearby too :)

We've been on a mission to find good pizza in LA and this one has been added to that list! I'd actually give it a 4.5. Love the old school diner feel inside. Not much seating but they have an outdoor area with a bunch of bunches as well. The staff were really nice and gave us suggestions on what to try and the drink specials. We are the Traditional Cheese , Grandma , Really Really Funghi , Syracuse, Utica slices. They were all good but the Syracuse, Grandma, and Utica were the best and I highly recommend. We'll definitely be back.

My sister was raving about this place, I actually had no intention of coming here today but saw it while driving and was like ooohhhhh Snappppp it's right there! And turned in. The place is small and cozy, parking lot is perfect size for the shop. When I went inside I was greeted right away. I ordered the Utica deep dish square and the fungi fungi slice. They heated it up perfectly and the Utica was super yummmmmy! Buttery and crispy crust and super flavorful. The fungi one was loaded with mushrooms and veggies and pesto that was super yummy too. Can't go wrong with anything you order everything looked bombbbbb! Make sure you give this place a try it's definitely worth it!

This is probably my favorite pizza joint in the city if I'm being honest. I come here with my partner at least once a month to split a whole pizza to share. I usually get the Miss Green and he gets The Primo and boy let me tell you it always hits. They're very consistent here when we come to eat so I appreciate that very much. The crust is always crunchy and thin ( makes me think I'm not eating too much carbs, but I highly doubt it). When you order, you order in front where the cash register is and they will provide you a number so they know where to place your order if you're eating in. The place is a casual spot to eat, nothing formal, but you get to have one of the best pizza's in the city. It may be hard to find because it's in the corner or a bending street. The parking lot is small too, so if you can find street parking that's the way to go!

Some people call me a space cowboy, some people call me a fat kid who loves pizza more than he loves cake. Tomato pie slings affordable, filling slices with unique, extremely vegetarian friendly flavors. My favs include: * Mr white - it's like Michael Jackson but you want it. If you love cheese and garlic, but want to go past the mozzarella, this one is for you. * blanco veggie - it's like the the mr white, but I want to pretend I care about fiber and my health. you're probably the person that considers the cilantro on a katsu sando as ruffage * miss green - you love pesto pasta, but wished it was a pizza * really really funghi - this guy is invited to every single rager I'm every throwing. hands down the best pizza they throw here. it's easier to catch a mew on the first try with a regular poke ball than find this behind the slice cage. I'm glad I make those big bucks now so that I can just buy an 18 inch instead of meal prepping for the week. p.s. did you know you can freeze pizza slices individually in foil and then air fry to crispy perfection at 400F for 6 mins in your air fryer. don't thank me, buy someone that needs it a slice and pay it forward.

Garlic Knots: 1/5 Tomato Pie: 2/5 Bbq Chicken: 5/5 Employees: 5/5 Clean: 5/5 Parking: 5/5 16th of August 2025 Took so long for the garlic knots to come out and they were tasteless. The sauce was watery. The tomato pie pizza had cold sauce on it yet the crust was warm and delicious. The bbq chicken pizza was my favorite and very tasty.

Fantastic slices of pizza! Reminded of a local shop in New York and gives a nice solid flavor with their sauce. Here in silver lake they sell by the slice and also whole pies. I prefer by the slice so I can try different styles . I got the pepperoni, Utica, and bbq chicken. Service was very friendly and gave some good suggestions so I decided to try all 3 slices. The ambiance also was very chill and laidback. They call your name once you order your pizza then go to the patio or back home to eat it.

Generally, LA is not known for great pizza until now. Tomato Pie Pizza Joint (est 2006) is corner pizza joint that makes the perfect NY-Style pizza in Silverlake. They have two other locations: So.Pasadena and Woodland hills. As far as I can remember I have driven past by this place going to work for years. But today is the day I checked it out. I arrived as a first time customer. I was warmly greeted by Cesar, staff, at the counter. I told him that it was my first time at this joint and he explained to me the pizza slices they have. I perused their menu (pizza, pastas, subs, appetizers, salads) and decided to get a slice of Mr. White (Garlic olive oil, oregano, romano, ricotta, parmesan & mozzarella cheese), reg Cheese pizza and bottled water. He was kind enough to give a complimentary pizza The Grandma (crushed tomato, garlic, basil, light mozzarella & our original pecorino romano crust) pizza, as a first time customer. I was grateful! Pizza was flavorful and its crust was great. It's exactly the kind of NY style pizza taste that I'm accustomed growing up in NYC. Service was great. Staff were friendly. Atmosphere was relaxing. Their sleek interior 60's design definitely stands out compared to other pizza joint in LA. Prices seem fair. Overall, I loved every pizza moment. I highly recommend them.

I ordered to-go and the wait time was pretty quick. I ordered a half & half (grandma and florentine). The grandma was a great basic plain pizza, but the florentine surprised me in a good way. I loved the flavor of all the vegetables together and would definitely order entire pizza of this next time! And don't miss out on the garlic knots- they're great with the gooey melted cheese and pesto! There's a small parking lot otherwise it's street parking.

Ask the Community - Tomato Pie Pizza Joint

Are there vegan pizzas here? I see vegan cheese but no mention of fully vegan pizzas.

    Yes.

Does anyone know what their vegan cheese is made with?

I believe they use Daiya Cheese. Their sauce is so delicious and you can get veggies if you don't like Daiya Cheese.

    Is the cheese cashew-based?

    No

It was getting late, so while I waited for the kid in the car at their activity, I went on The Heights website found an order form and placed an order for some sammies all in 5 minutes. I didn't even ask the hubs or the vegetarian kid what they wanted. I went with what I thought they'd like. 15-minutes later, I was picking the sandwiches up at the walk-in only shop. There was no line and better yet, they were wrapped up and ready to go when I walked in. The smiling lady asked if I wanted napkins or utensils. They have case after case of cold drinks so we picked out a couple of drinks, paid for those and left. It was easy and fast. Enjoyed the yumminess at home. I normally would save a half for another meal but my "Pasadena" hit the spot that I finished it up all at once. Quality bread, meats, cheese, fillings aka all the ingredients...to boot! PS the kid loved theirs and so did the hub. Thanks for making dinner: easy and delicious! There are no pictures because it was too delicious to take the time out and take any. Just order.

During a…read morelazy afternoon after visiting the Pantheon in Rome, we had our first experience with All'Antico after taking a 5 minute walk down the road. They actually had 2 separate locations flanking the pedestrian road, so there were two long lines snaking out in opposite directions. While we were waiting in line, we bumped into a couple from Spain who were also visiting. They gave my wife some personal recommendations, advising we get the blood orange soda with our sandwiches. After getting said sandwiches (the La Paradiso), we nibbled on them while walking to Sant'Ignazio of Loyola Church, which is that cathedral where there's a mirror directed up towards the murals on the ceiling and a huge selfie line. Hot damn were those sandwiches good. The thinly sliced mortadella paired perfectly with that buttery, green pistachio spread. The only challenge for my taste buds was the mild oral trauma I sustained from punching through the crispy bread; your gums started to feel it by the time you devoured your sandwich. But we liked it so much that when we later took the train to Florence, we sought All'Antico again at their original location. I thought that would be my last experience with All'Antico (unless, of course, I came back to Italy). So imagine my surprise when later that year I heard All'Antico had coincidentally opened a branch in Los Angeles, although rather awkwardly situated in Koreantown. Even though we live 30 minutes away, we made the drive immediately. There was no way this remote All'Antico location, thousands of miles from Italy, would live up to the experience I had in Rome earlier that year. But I was mistaken. Not only is the taste spot on, but the bread they serve is actually chewier and removed the gum calisthenics I suffered in Italy. And yes, they also have the blood orange soda as well. It's a little weird their location is in Koreatown, but not a big deal; we'll usually do a bingsu run afterward. Just like their locations in Italy, All'Antico is small but they do have a small collection of bar seats, some of which overlook the staff as they're making your sandwich. Be mentally prepared though to take it to go depending on how busy it is. Parking sucks too; there's street parking only, but if you come on Sunday you don't have to pay. Every so often now, we'll make the 30 minute drive just to relive that slice of Italy we experienced nearly 2 years ago. Thankfully, not a lot of people recognize how good this place is yet, as the lines aren't crazy long like they are in Italy. For all the other Yelpers in on it too, let's keep it our little secret for now.

Lunch rush came around 1:30pm. The workers were kind and helpful, each working diligently to complete everyone's order timely. Loved to see how they only use focaccia that just come out of the oven, and they cut your sandwich's meat from the meat hunk on an order basis. Very fresh, never greasy. I thought the Dante and Mamma Mia could improve by adding just one more ingredient as a cherry on top, like a sort of nut (walnuts, pine nuts) or something that helps the sandwich spark. Would love to see a bit more arugula too. No public bathroom--closest one is probably Hmart across the street (needs a code). Parking is metered, but there's free neighborhood parking 1-2 blocks away if you're able to find a spot. There's a few seats (5-6) and a standing bar around the perimeter of the store. Also, the drinks are money but you can ask for a water cup for free.
