I was craving for some pizza and searched for some places nearby. Most of them opened after 4pm and I was very hungry. I found this Raffallo's pizza in Hollywood and we decided to stop by. I have been to Raffallo's Pizza numerous times in the past but not in a very long time.. like probably over 30 years. The one in Hollywood & La Brea is still there, but was way out of my way. Yesterday, my friend and I stopped by this Raffallo's Pizza in the heart of Hollywood which brings me a lot of great memories since I used to live there and practically spend 17 years of my life there. It's still home to me. This Pizza place has been there for a little over 10 years but the new owners Miguel & his wife Geysy took over the business 3 months ago. Got a very warm, happy, pleasant welcome by them and their employee by the name of Abigel. She was very sweet, kind, and brought out our order on timely manner. We both got their Gnocchi Al Pesto Genovese which included gnocchi, sauce (homemade) basil, garlic, pine nuts, parmigiana & reggiano. It's a type of pasta.(18;00), Got 2 more things: Scampi Salad with Grilled Shrimp, arugula, cherry tomatoes, avocado with lemon dressing.($20.00). Last, but not least we got their 12 inch medium size Vegetable Lovers Pizza: Mushrooms, Green Peppers, Black Olives, Onions & sliced tomatoes ($22.95). For drinks, we both stayed with our waters. Total came out to be $65.51. Food was very fresh, pipping hot, & very DELICIOUS. GF dough was a bit hard to chew, but wasn't too bad. They have few parking spaces right in the front, 1 gender neutral restroom and one last thing that you should know. When we got the check there were few hidden fees that was not mentioned to us before hand if you pay with a card. I've been here twice since moving into the neighborhood. On my first visit, I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. It came with a generous side salad and a slice of garlic bread. The food was pretty good and satisfying overall. I was going to order a Chardonnay, but the server mentioned it wasn't available at the time. I came back last weekend because I was craving the same pasta. However, this visit was during the recent LA heatwave, and the temperature inside the restaurant was honestly shocking when I walked in. It felt very uncomfortable, but I still decided to stay and sit at my usual spot. I placed the same order and started eating, thinking I could tolerate it. But dining out should also be about comfort and overall experience, especially when you're supporting small businesses and tipping accordingly. Unfortunately, the staff (a man and a shorter female server) did not turn on the AC until I asked. That shouldn't have to be requested, especially during extreme heat conditions. Giving this one five stars for several reasons. I honestly needed an outlet for my computer and they gave me the best booth ever equipped with outlets and all. The Arugula and Parmesan salad was AMAZING. It's the most simple salad, but I absolutely love the simplicity of it. I paired the salad with a small personal pepperoni pizza that was too much for me to finish. The owner and waitress were very accommodating to me and my needs. Ok breakdown, these are new owners they have revamped there recipes. So I tried the rigatoni, so good it's not like the typical like tomotoe sauce it's way more tasty and complicated. This pizza spot is definitely a good place to try if you're craving some fresh pizza. My partner and I have gone a couple times over the past few years and we always go back. He always orders the Chicken Alfredo and I order a Personal pizza (toppings: pepperoni and pineapple). Every time we visit, our food is always fresh and hot. Customer service is on point. Both the elderly woman and the young man serve my partner and I with respect, kindness and professionalism. English and Spanish is spoken from the young man; his nice tone of voice and smile will greet you once you walk into the doorway. The inside of the restaurant is well ordered and there are enough tables for big parties of people. Windows are tinted; therefore, you won't be starred down from someone standing outside while eating lol. I also wish to appoint that they have delivery services which is quite nice if you ask me. Just hit them with a call and they will deliver to you. Oh Raffallo's. I've lived here for so long but had never tried it. This review is for people like me that hadn't tried it before. Giving it 4/5 because it's an institution, though i am hot sure how or why. I don't want to hurt them, but this place is def closer to a 2.5/5. It's just really cheap pizza made with cheap ingredients, at premium prices. Toppings cost $3 each whether you get them on half the pizza or the whole thing. The dough is bland and fast-food quality. And it just costs too much for what it is. It's FINE. It's just not worth spending money on when there are much better places out there for this style of pizza (Garage, Joe's, Lucifer's, D'Amore, to name a handful). read more

I've seen this place so often and finally decided to set my wariness aside. The façade looks suspect, being situated at the end of a strip mall next to a cigarette stand. There are a few Raffallo's in the Hollywood area, but this is my first visit to any of them. I ordered from the lunch specials and had the spaghetti with meatballs. Two meatballs with linguini like strands of pasta. The portion was good - not too small or overwhelming. It was served with a perfectly crusted slice of garlic bread for $6.95. The food is inexpensive especially for lunch and the service is friendly. A solid midday spot even for larger parties. read more

Best pizza ever! Family friendly service and delicious food overall. But there is something special about their pizza sauce and the cheese they use. I remember my first trip to the original location on Vermont when I was 5. That place was iconic. My father went there in the 80's when he was a teen, he took me when i was a kid in the 90's and i took my friends as i got older. I miss the original location and the classic "Italian restaurant" ambiance. Too bad an idiot tenant in the hookah lounge business from the 2nd floor ended up burning down 90% of the building/plaza. Luckily this tragedy caused Raffallo's to move to a new location thats actually closer to me. We still order from them regularly and always know we are going the get the same, classic, delicious pizza. Classic pepperoni or the Raffallo's special always hit the spot. Oh and also, if you get full and have extra slices, they make a great midnight snack especially when they chill in the fridge, something magical happens when the pizza chills in the fridge. I have an hour for lunch no more.. so if i want something other then Korean food or junk food, I need to drive a good 10 minutes away and this luncheon afternoon I was craving lasagna. I've seen several Raffallo's around just never been so this was the first place I remembered close enough to my job. I had the beef lasagna and my coworker had the spaghetti and sausage, very friendly service and despite the ugly exterior with gated windows and door, it's quite lovely inside. When I ordered the lasagna our server was honest enough to tell me it would take longer then the spaghetti so I'm assuming it was because it was somewhat freshly made and wasn't going to be reheated in a microwave. Along with that we ordered yummy garlic bread, not overpowering at all, and even thou they have a bottle of wine everywhere we opted for fountain drinks. I couldn't believe it, our food was served and my plate was hot to touch, the garlic bread was just an added bonus and it was under $22.00 including tip... we 15 minutes left to get myself back to work on time. Raffallo's back in action!!! About a mile+ further than the old location, but their pizzas are very worth the drive! Even though, there's a location not too far, I still wouldn't go to any other than this spot! It's quite rare for me to post reviews but I must say that since they have re-opened, I have been back more than I should! The pizza sauce is just perfect (as to some places will either be too sour or too much or just not enough). Raffallo's just makes you want to go back everyday! In addition to great food and service, warm and friendly staff also makes it worth while to return. Super happy that they are back in action! August 2019, a few days ago, Sanderz List went viral on Twitter. All of our fast food chains have deposited their profits to owners and CEOs who in turn donated that money to PACs to re-elect Trump. I don't want to stay part of that cycle. I went to Raffallos instead of Little Caesars. I didn't even know this place. Never seen it and as a rideshare driver, I don't live in the area. Honestly I saw this place on my way TO Little Cs and the List repeated in my head. The place is so small but so genuine. The decor isn't modern but the booths are small in an old way that feels oddly nostalgic. It feels like your uncle's first pizza shop he's trying to get off the ground. I decided on an Individual sized pizza, but the surcharge on my card hamstringed me just to hear. The price difference for the next size up was uncomfortably high to me, tho. ...but because I was under the $10 limit, I'd incur a nasty surcharge on my card. Large places can afford to waive that for you, but small businesses have to nickle and dime everything just to break even. It's really rough.. especially if your customers don't know. Big businesses are afforded so many conveniences we take for granted. It's so much more expensive to run a smaller home biz. Screw it. Upgrade me. At least I'll know the money is going to a place that needs it. Still, I really hope the pie tastes good. (I'll be honest, the by-the-slice pieces looked depressing, which is why I figured to go for a full fresh pie.) I'm a big gal and I barely squeezed into the tiny booths, but even still, the place had a charm. Or maybe I ascribed it. Still, not being local myself made me more shy than normal. But then one of the guys, maybe a manager? Older, dark hair, working hands, yet a glint in his eyes that said nothing would dim his light He was so nice and came up to greet me. I think he noticed my miserable reluctance to fork over more money because things are always tight. But he didn't judge. He just seemed to understand without needing a word told. Something about him, about the cheery girl at the register, something about this place felt more real and understanding than I've felt while put in public all week. Meh- pizza was okay. I had Raffallo's months ago (looved) and my pizza didn't taste the same this time around. I'm a bit disappointed since I chose lunch today for my colleagues and I. They also thought the pizza was mediocre. I went with the delivery option so I'm wondering if it was perhaps due to the pizza arriving cold or maybe it was the excessive grease. Regardless, the delivery guy was awesome. He was very kind and made it an easy delivery process. Delivery time read an hour but we received our pizza in approx. 30 mins.The service over the phone was also smoothly and kindly done. Any true East Hollywood native has enjoyed eating at Raffallo's. The original location on Fountain was a fixture in our neighborhood. Since the unfortunate closure of that location we have patiently waited for the reopening of this Iconic Eatery. Its new location just a 2 min walk down Edgemont on the corner of Santa Monica is the new home of this beloved restaurant that has since passed to the next generation. Family owned with all the taste and flavors that we've always cherished. Trying the food again after almost 7 months of being away was like coming home to a beautiful cooked meal made by mom. Food: The Super Sandwich is one of my favorites here! Sliced meats with melted cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, vinaigrette dressing on a nicely toasted french bread.....mmmm.. Eggplant Parmesan... I had caught a glimpse of this place the other day and for some reason I knew had to come back to try it out. I came back to this area because across the street there is a video store where I get my vintage DV tapes converted at. So there I was, faced with the Raffallo's sign once again. After some indecision between the Salvadorian food across the street, I chose up and went to Raffallo's. I was greeted by a nice Latino man which made me feel right at home already. He suggested I try the famous Raffallo's Super sandwich. Originally trying to get a calzone, I am glad I switched my plan and went with thy super sub. As I sit here with the last couple bites of my sub and a glass of homemade lemonade, I am feeling satisfied and ready to have another sub, another day.
