I was looking for lunch while my hubby visited Kaiser. Stumbled on to this little hole in the wall. Honestly not much to look at but the lady at the front was genuinely lovely. I ordered the vegetarian sandwich without cheese. She asked if I wanted mayo, as she thought I might want a vegan sandwich. "Nope, mayo fine, just no cheese". When you have a sandwich with only lettuce, tomato, avocado and carrot you have little to hide behind. The bread was fresh and delicious, toasted well. The filling for me was perfect. The cafe is small but clean. And later when hubby was free he came and ordered pastrami. His sandwich was also great. Did I mention the bread was bomb? They also have salads and pizza but the sandwich was perfect. Such a great surprise and now I have a lunch place to look forward to when visiting Kaiser on sunset. read more

My dad is undergoing radiation treatment across the street at Kaiser so we saw this pizza spot across the way and gave it a try. Pizza was really really great and the lady behind the counter was amazingly nice and inviting!!! We have gone back a few times since. Great prices & great service. Slept overnight at the Kaiser hospital. Woke up hungry asfk, and this spot was open early. I got the chicken pesto and lemme tell you, the portion size is huge for the price. Everything was fresh and only took about 5 mins. The guy behind the counter was very nice and humble. 10 out of 10 must come again! read more

Expect a long wait during high season. Expect a long wait before 8 pm during low season. This place is gorgeous and huge. The tables are actually tacky =P Expect to pay a premium for the food for this area - but still reasonable price for American standard. What a pleasure all around! Nvard and his wife were wonderful hosts and Nvard is a fantastic chef! The restaurant itself is nicely appointed and very clean and comfortable! It was great to finally be able to get my daughter authentic fresh chicken shawarma, unlike the dry chicken curry masquerading as shawarma at California Adventure two weeks earlier! The chicken shawarma here is made with the freshest ingredients! I even ate the tomatoes, and I don't even like tomatoes! The cucumbers had just the right amount of crunch! It was so delicious, I ate the whole thing in one sitting! My son's large pepperoni pizza was just as delicious! He ate half all by himself!...then polished off the rest when we got home! This place was delicious. We had a Pepperoni pizza, pineapple pizza, chicken sandwich, and a Greek salad. Everything was delicious! I never like to order salads from fast food places but my wife wanted it and it was great. The lettuce tomatoes and onions were fresh. We were at Kaiser for several days and wanted to stay close so we went a couple times. After our first visit the young lady at the register remembered us. She was super nice. I've been meaning to try this place as I usually park nearby for appointments! The gyro was the best item out of todays order! It's stellar! I would definitely order this again and pass on the Philly cheese steak and hummus! The gyro was flavorful and packed! I wanted to write about this place, but I also didn't want to write about this place because then more people will find this gem, you know what I mean? I walked in one morning in search of coffee. Zero expectations, only saw that they had great Yelp reviews. Got myself a sandwich and a coffee. And oh. my. god. It was divine. Freshly baked bread, delicious taste, great texture and a decent portion size. Just yummy! And the coffee? I got plain black coffee and boy, was it good. Strong enough, but not too bitter. If you drink your coffee without creamers and sweeteners you will know how unusual it is to find high-quality, great tasting coffee for a reasonable price. Came back again for another sandwich and it was incredible again. Definitely coming back for more. Amazing service too. They were very friendly and personable. A great place, a short walk from Kaiser hospital, for a quick breakfast bite. I had their sausage-egg sandwich, seasoned with pickle "relish" and mayo, served on lightly crisped Armenian bread. Prices are reasonable. I like that they serve your food, not on styrofoam, on a real plate! This place has an old school vibe with indoor seating only. I'll be back sometime to try their lunch plates or pizza. read more

I recently moved to the area and found New York Cafe on DoorDash. I've ordered a few times now and really enjoy the kofte sandwich combo which comes with the side of your choice. I opt for the thick cut fries that come perfectly crispy with a nice seasoning salt on top. The sandwich itself is huge, I can't really imagine considering what you get one sandwich. You'll most likely be satisfied going for half, so in terms of size it's a very good deal at just over $12 all in. The kofte is a ground beef kabob that fits nicely in the sandwich almost like a burger patty. It's not fancy, comes with lettuce, tomatoes, and mayo, but it's very tasty. New York Cafe is quickly becoming one of my go-tos for lunch in the area. You can't really beat the speed, quality, and value. Looking forward to trying other things on the menu! read more

This is a small cafe right on Sunset. The prices are ver reasonable. I ordered the avocado toast on my first visit for breakfast. The bread was excellent with a good sized slice with some avocado, tomato, and fried egg on top. Overall, for the price, it was a great deal and very tasty. Service was good. Under new ownership! I like the new owner and the girl that runs the front is a crack up. Funny and friendly. It is always nice to see the owner there regularly and chatting with the patrons. I only have gone for lunch, so I can't comment on any other time of day. I typically order the regular steak sandwich or chimichurri steak sandwich , side salad and drink. The sandwich is tasty, the bread is delicious ( flat bread , crispy Israeli bread?) and the portion size is perfect. I've also had a flavorful chicken soup. They have a good selection chips and drinks. Give it a try instead of fast food, because we need independent restaurants to survive and the hospital employees need good choices in the area:) I keep forgetting to take pics, but will edit this to include them later. read more

They typically give you a 25-30 min pick up time after the order is placed. I arrived 15 minutes early and received a text shortly after stating my order was ready. I proceed to pick up the order and return back to my office in about 5-6 minutes before eating. Within this time frame my fries were already cold. Again, the burger is of very good quality meat. But placing an automatic tip of $4 on an already expensive burger that I have to go pick up myself seems unreasonable.
