Tom Thumb had their Signature turkeys advertised to sale at .55 cents a pound but it was required that you spend $35 in groceries which I did. When filling my order they stated that the Pepperidge Farms stuffing wasn't in stock so they removed it from my list and not once did they offer a substitution so by them doing that they automatically boosted up the price of the turkey so yes, they boosted up my grocery bill without my consent. I will no longer be shopping with them as I consider that a complete scam. read more

Today was the second time that I've had to waste my time calling Tom Thumb to correct something for my parents on their grocery order and pick up process. This is the second time that I have found one of their meat products not just missed marked but it had the wrong meat liston the meat department sticker then it was inside the package. Example today's product in question was a pork shoulder butt. Which is on digital coupon sale for $.99 a pound.(see picture below) The pork shoulder butt, per package labeling was marked as a pork shoulder blade roast on the meat department price sticker. Which means my parents paid an extra dollar a pound or so then they should have. Also another funny thing about it is the Printed meat department sticker.... It was the wrong kind of meat, they had the wrong price on it and the weight was even wrong.... the printed label from the meat department said 9 pound something while the actual meat weight was over 11 pounds. So there was nothing right on the printed label from the meat department about the piece of meat that my parents over paid for. With this kind of error, especially in the meat department... take a guess of how much extra a grocery store can make with this kind of mistake!!! especially at a time when every penny counts for so many households in our country. The other thing that we've noticed at this time time is that a lot of their "in store made" items, they have changed as well. A lot of the items have just gotten smaller what used to be 14 ounces is now 9 ounces, and not only that but the taste has changed and they've changed something that's in it, probably to save a little bit of money per package. It's up to us as consumers to stand up for ourselves and actually get what we're paying for or at least what they're advertising. If it were not for the pharmacist in the pharmacy I would make my parents change their grocery store. So if you frequent this Tom Thumb, make sure you pay attention at checkout and check everything you buy to make sure it's actually what you want and what you're willing to pay for it. This store is so poorly managed. The staff are greatly lacking in customer service skills and that obviously starts at the top. After being a customer for over 15 years, I won't ever set foot in this location again. There are so many better choices available. Very disappointing. read more

This grocery store is smaller than the Kroger next door to it. However, it is more stocked and a little bit more upscale than Kroger. Kroger has a larger selection, but this store often has some specialty items that Kroger does not have. The prices at Tom Thumb can be higher than at other grocery stores, but sometimes it's worth it because the store is well stocked. I like the organic vegetable section in Tom Thumb as well. 3.5/5 Give it a try! read more

I did a positive review on Google a couple of years ago...I believe in being intentional about both positive and negative feedback. Sad that this is negative for a store I have always considered my "neighborhood grocery". But the meat department is missing Melvin these years and slipping in personal touch customer service. The evening front end "customer service" manager is ironically adversarial and the checkout staff from indifferent to rude. Kroger is within walking distance of my house and on the way to Tom Thumb; Going to be harder to drive by and come up here to get lectured and gaslit. You are more expensive and smaller than Kroger -- I come here for what used to be kind neighborly workers. Y'all need to nip that slip in the bud. read more

I gave it two stars only due to location. I was elated when Kroger's opened a few years ago just down the road. As others have mentioned, Thum is over priced and poorly staffed with employees who clearly don't want to be there. 50% of the time the self checkout is not staffed and you have to wait for someone to come and help: annoying as hell. Management apparently could care less about their employees or customer service or pricing. Although the pharmacy has always provided very good service. If I could give less than a one star I would. Been going to this Tom Thumb but no longer. Went to pick up a cake that I had ordered. Could not find anyone to help me so went to service desk to get help. Back to bakery and the lady that came to so called help me was already rude and I guess mad because I went to service desk and hurriedly got the cake and shoved it at me and said there you go and quickly walked away before I had a chance to look at it. Trying to get her attention for more help my wife went back a little to get her attention and the woman actually yelled at her to get behind the line. Trying to tell her that the cake was wrong she kept on yelling. I asked for a manager and she walked back and laid down the F bomb sting f you. This made me really angry and I went off on her. Manager came and I relayed what had happened and told him that we will get the cake somewhere else and will never step back into the store. read more

I have only one complaint about this Tom Thumb. Someone needs to replace the Produce Management, or he/she needs to be given better resources / product to put on the shelves. I've frequently found old/whithered/expired/bruised produce on the shelves. Not that you can't find some things ok, but quite frankly Kroger kicks this place(s) produce department badly, enough so that while I live less than a mile or so from Tom Thumb, I'll still drive 5 miles to Kroger. I would also like to see a better selection of wholesome / organic foods, another set of items we have to go to Kroger for. On the upside EVERY single employee I've encountered here is awesome! The reason I'll still come back, even though it's more out of convenience is because of the way everyone is treated here. They don't have a lot of turnover either and you get used to seeing many of the same folks. A sign that while "general" store management is good, the lacking in the produce department is overlooked sadly. read more

Would have to give 5 stars for cleanliness, the place has s spotless and always has been...BUT the whole checkout experience makes me give it 3 stars. I shop here at least once per week since they do have pretty Good Friday & weekend specials. While there I always pick up items that are not on my list, usually very pricey. So when I get to checkout today they had ONE manned lane, I was 4th in line so I reluctantly go to self checkout...fiasco ! Problem immediately and I'm looking for help, shit you not there were 3 managers talking with each other with no regard for my issue. I cannot believe that this year (2019) this store will be 9 years old; it still looks like a brand new store! And I absolutely adore this store! I drive 17 miles, one way, so that I can purchase the freshest fruits and vegetables from Tom Thumb/Rockwall. The folks that work here are so sweet and helpful. The store is always well stocked and has a great selection of everything. The floral department is also very nice. I just adore this Tom Thumb!! read more

Beautiful store - clean, nice displays, good selection of goods, makes for a good shopping experience. They even have a Starbuck's in this location and wooden plank flooring in the produce section. This is always a sign of a classy grocery store in my book. Unfortunately, Tom Thumb's prices are out of my pocket book range so I don't shop here very often. On this occassion, half of Rockwall was without power so I had no choice but to venture out of my way. I will say this - the parking lot at night is dimly lit and I was lucky not to drive off a curb when trying to get back onto the main road. read more

ONLINE DELIVERY GROCERY SERVICE double charged me and wouldn't even listen to me when I called to ask for a refund. She kept assuming my charges were still pending when I explained they were finalized and I was double charged. Instead of fixing THEIR mistake I had to call my bank and wait for a 90 day! processing period for the duplicate charge to be disputed. Ridiculous! I placed an order several days ago, more than 3, they should do the delivery tomorrow, 2/20/2021. So today they call me to apologize because they won't be able to fulfill the order. I said, ok, it's fine, but it will be great if somebody called me before so I can have time to do my order with another company, now tomorrow I won't have food for my family, they apologize again and we finished the conversation. This is when this gets interesting, 2 minutes after, somebody called again from the same Tom Thumb, explaining the same situation all over again, she was really rude, but she was putting all her energy to turn me into a believer, she was trying to convince me that they make no mistake, and they inform me just now because they receive the order just now, and I explain I put the order several days ago and somebody in her company is not forwarding the orders at the right time. She got really infuriating, then she started talking and even if I said something, she didn't stop talking, was like the radio or the news, and I was trying to keep working and trying to stop this very unnecessary call, so I told her that if she had a bad day, I wasn't here to fight with her and this call was pointless, then looks like her boss got the call and guess what.... the same, like the radio, she was talking non-stop. I was doubting that this was kind of a sect and they were trying to convert me; I had a better time listening to somebody trying to sell me Herbalife or Amway. What is wrong with these people?. Customer service is not about forcing the customer to see everything from your point of view, is about caring, they never offer me to sell me food that they DO have so that I can have food for my family, I am sure the entire store is NOT empty, and they have something. This is the closest grocery store, (one of the 2 in town not counting Wal Mart) to where I live, and other than a quick purchase, I do not enjoy shopping here. The prices other than the Just 4 you deals, are much higher than Kroger. The organic produce selection is limited, expensive and not very fresh. The service is very hit or miss, and usually miss. I rather, fight the parking and have the lines, and know that I am getting the best overall deal at Kroger on Ridge Road. read more

This is by far the worst Tom Thumb in the chain. I can't begin to tell you how many times I have gotten home without some of my groceries. Very annoying - I don't have time to make multiple trips to the grocery store for the same items. They also can't seem to keep the shelves stocked. Went today and they were out of Ozarka water - really? Don't even get me started on the floral department. The selection is the worst ever - they never have any decent looking flowers. I stop in other Tom Thumb stores (Rowlett and Dallas) and they seem to have a good selection so I am confused as to why the Rockwall store can't seem to do the same. More often than not, the staff is rude. Complaints to management and even to the home office have not resulted in any improvements. I have never been a Kroger fan, but I can't wait until the new Kroger down the street opens. read more

I recently got a cake for graduation and I had a picture that I wanted my cake to look like. The writing was not consistent, the artwork looked slopped on and it looked like they did it in about 5 minutes . They need to go back to a cake decorating course because they obviously forgot how to decorate. My shaky grandma could have done a better job. read more

This store is my favorite all time store, the staff always goes above and beyond to be helpful. Other stores should learn from this store . The store director is polite and always has a smile on his face. Only issue I ever had is with a bakery staff member and her not so nice behavior and selling a cake with mold on the strawberries. When I asked if they had another one she acted like I was a bother so I just left and bought this cake elsewhere. read more

This Tom Thumb is the worst! The only nice thing I have to say is that it IS clean! I grew up shopping at Tom Thumb and they always had the best produce and grocery selection; from basic pantry goods to gourmet specialty items. Not only does this store NOT have gourmet or specialty items they hardly have the basics. They are always out of a staple vegetable such as squash or corn. Service is terrible. It's impossible to find the needed basics. If u do find it check the expiration date as chances are it's expired. Managers do not care. And customer service takes forever to assist u and then doesn't offer much assistance. This is a high dollar grocery store with less than discount store service. read more
