Been shopping at TT stores for over 50 years. Never had a bad experience until yesterday 03/29/2026. Fresh veggies not so fresh--indeed took me forever to find bell pepper and jalapeno that were not rotting. Then on to fresh meat dep't where there was one guy who was too busy doing nothing (I was only customer) to wait on me. When he finally deigned to ask me what I wanted, I pointed to boneless skinless chicken breasts and said I wanted 1.5-2.0 #. He understood not a word of English, so after five minutes or so of trying to get him to understand I gave up. I went to the front and told the shift manager my problem. He promised to take care of it immediately. After waiting five minutes or so, I gave up. Left my pathetic bag of produce on the counter and walked out. As I was walking out the door, I heard a voice on the intercom calling for some to go to the meat dep't. Usually shop @ Preston Forest (4.5-*). Will never go back to Preston Belt Line. read more

The management at this store is horrible. Ive spoken to a few managers and they seem incompetent at their job or they just dont care. The store is usually dirty and not well maintained, they have rotten, moldy produce. Definitely prefer Central Market to this Tom Thumb. read more

I don't get it. Tom Thumb is a regular smegular grocery store yet the prices are outrageously high. I came here for the first time today (I'm new to the state) and I was shocked by the prices. Some items and brands are the same general price as at other places, give or take 50 cents, but the difference in price of other items made no sense. For example, I always get the 28 pack of Nestlé Pure Life bottled water from Target. There it's always less than $3, about $2.89. At Tom Thumb, the SALE price was $4.89, down from over $5! Additionally, some of the other large cases of bottled water were over $8! Who would spend that on bottled water?! WTH! That's just one example but I found several other name brand items that I often buy elsewhere that were way higher at Tom T. Conversely, the price of a gallon jug of Diet Arizona Green Tea was $2.99 there which is the average price everywhere else too. I just don't understand the pricing here and I didn't find much there that I can't get elsewhere to make this my primary grocery store of choice. read more

Terrible layout, there were a lot of people but they only had one lane open for non self check out, all of which were packed, and I couldn't find most of the food I needed. I live in the nearby neighborhood and decided to shop at tom thumb for groceries this morning had a pleasant experience through the store except at the checkout station. I pulled my basket up to the scanning machine and started scanning my items and then this strange older man with glasses just kept watching from behind, every move I made he just kept watching me scan my items. He did not once ask how my day was or if I found everything I needed or even asked to help bag my things, he just stood there like a creep, I was starting to feel uncomfortable at this point and just left. HUGE THANKS to the Tom Thumb at Preston and Beltline in Dallas, TX. Through no fault of their own, I didn't get my grocery delivery. I can't drive right now due to my epilepsy and when I called the delivery service, they weren't very nice. In desperation, I called the store. And I cried. Over groceries. So embarrassing. The manager was incredibly nice and they got my groceries to me in less than 30 minutes. I'm incredibly thankful!! That's more than customer service. That's caring about people. Yes, they're a bit pricey. BUT you can't pay for that level of service and their produce and selection make it absolutely worth it!!! read more

This is a pretty good Tom Thumb. There's a Starbucks inside, they have a large floral section, and also a large wine section. This store has a good selection of prepared food items. This is an older store, but it's clean and one of the better grocery stores in the area. read more

I've just relocated to the Dallas area. This was my first visit to Tom Thumb and likely my last. I found this experience revolting and incredibly wrong. In Florida the chain Publix holds the reputation for excellence. I was expecting Publix. I got the most sad customer service I've ever had. Every employee was miserable, sad, and angry. Prices are higher than acceptable. Yes the store is clean. Yes there is selection. But employees express the heart and soul of a store. There were few employees and none were happy. Is it this store? This store has serious issues. I have purchased 'fresh' meat 9 TIMES in less than a year that was spoiled. Even meat packaged on the same day as purchased and several days before the sell-by date has been inedible. I have physically returned the putrid meat only 4 times. It is extremely inconvenient and wasteful of my time, gas, money, and other ingredients prepped for the meal I intended to cook when the main protein is ROTTEN upon opening the package. Several instances didn't even require the cellophane to be removed as the smell of sulpher penetrated through the package and onto everything else in my fridge. I don't always bother returning the product because I do not ever get compensated for my time, gas, wasted ingredients, and cost of replacing the planned meal with an alternate option. I spoke to the general manager, Patrick, once when I returned decomposing, smelly pork. He condescendingly paraded me through his meat department opening random packages for me to smell how fresh they were. This was on a busy Saturday, not a day I would ever do my shopping. I shop late, on weeknights. He then charged me with the responsibility of notifying HIS store immediately upon opening a package of spoiled meat. Well, by the time I prepare dinner, it's in the evening after customer service is closed and THAT'S NOT MY JOB to make sure Tom Thumb isn't selling meat that can make people sick!!! Patrick didn't bother to take a whiff of the putrid pork I returned. He sent me on my way. That was absolutely embarrassing. Not only was our dinner ruined the night before, but the lunch planned from the leftover preparation was now nonexistent. That was not the last time it happened. This store is along a route we often travel. I don't really buy a lot of meat there considering their track record. Since I'm on the 9th instance of purchasing spoiled meat from the same location, I've committed to notifying the local health department on number 10. I should have already made that call. Honestly, every single staff member has been quite pleasant, except for the GM. I now have a new issue, online orders. I recieved delivery 3 times before with only a minor incident. This last time I ordered, I was overcharged, by almost 15% of the total. (No meat purchased) I normally recieve a printed receipt with my order as well as an emailed receipt, which is not easy to read. No receipt came with my delivery. I called the store because I was overcharged and my discounts were not applied. This was never an issue with my 3 previous deliveries. The person who took my call said they did not usually work this department and I would have to come to the store for my refund. I wasn't able to come right away, hence the delivery order I opted for. I came to the store on a Tues. evening before the ads rolled over. The associate noted the 5 items I was overcharged for, but said someone would contact me by telephone the following day. Guess what? No contact attempt was made. Now I have to spend even more of my time on the telephone attempting to dispute the situation. I called the corporate customer service line. The associate was polite, asked the amount I was requesting for refund, and prompted me to wait possibly more than a week. I asked if she needed to know which items, she declined, noting they rarely ever asked to see specifics and she would call me if they did. She called me back a few days later, they did want to know which items. 2 days later I recieved an email stating that Tom Thumb could see that I did not have those discounts on my account at the time of purchase. That is a lie. How could TT be trusted to view that info when they can't even update their online orders each week to match the ads? I was also told that ad prices were not honored on online orders. Another lie, this is not my first delivery. Is your grocery total for purchases a gamble, or is it actual math with REAL NUMBERS? Well, I finally found the time to publicly relay the occurrences I've experienced from my local Tom Thumb here on Yelp! Hey, check your display coolers in the front of the house! They are probably not below 45° and this store is constantly selling spoiled, stink-up-the-fridge meat. How many other loyal customers are getting squeezed and bilked when ordering online pickup and delivery? I am certainly not the only one. read more

My employee number. No contact from Tom Thumb. Therefore, my review remains the same. Be careful when you purchase the Fresh Pass. The customer service is lousy the second year. Tom Thumb's A-OK in my book. The selection's decent, it's never ridiculously busy, but where they lack is in customer service and open registers. I don't know why they would think it would be a good idea to have only 2 registers open at 6pm on a weekday, but they do it anyway. The length of the lines are touch and go -- sometimes you're waiting for what feels like an eternity, and then other times it's like 5mins. In regards to customer service, some cashiers definitely need an attitude check. They don't greet you and half the time, they're grumbling something while they ring you up. If you don't want to work, quit or get a backend job so you don't have to deal with people. Because of this, I like to use the delivery service which isn't all that bad. I highly advise you use the "allow substitutions" option sparingly. Example: I ordered onions, potatoes, and some other vegetables. They were out of onions so they subbed it for potatoes. I don't need more potatoes dude! I swear, I got like 20 potatoes. Why? I mean, yes it's a root veggie but not the same thing. The funky substitutions don't end there. I've got dozens of stories, so just be warned when using that feature. read more

This is not one of the "better" Tom Thumbs. It is cluttered, and seems poorly laid out, however it is clean and usually well stocked. The Starbucks coffee counter is often not manned, because the barista is doing 'other duties' but will come back to the counter as soon as they become aware they have a customer. The main reason for the low ranking is the Pharmacy. I tried for over 3 months to use this pharmacy. They continually messed up my prescriptions, lost my insurance info, would not process my prescription requests and once even insisted that I must have a secondary insurance in another state (they had somehow connected my client profile to another person's). Finally, I changed to a different pharmacy, and because the experience with this pharmacy with its incompetent pharmacist and techs was so negative, I also will no longer go to this particular Tom Thumb. Accessibility - inside is fine, but the sidewalks and parking lot are in poor repair and must be navigated very carefully. read more

The deli in this Tom Thumb is great - excellent service and food quality. I've used them to cater several times for our office Thanksgiving party and am always happy with the experience. The parking lot has become a little sketchy though, so keep your eyes open while putting groceries away. read more

Did you know you can get your car registration at Tom Thumb? That's right! You won't find it on the aisles next to the bread or anything, but march right up to the business center/ customer service area and in a flash, you can walk out with your new shiny sticker to slap into the corner of your windshield. I was on my way to dinner in Addison, so I stopped by this location. Nearly no wait, except for the lady in front of me that was buying 50 dollars of lotto tickets...grr. Other than that, it was past 6 p.m and I got to get my registration out of the way easy peasy! They charge you the same dollar fee it costs to mail it in, but since it's printed right out for you, it's so worth it. Efficient, fast, friendly. Now that's what I'm talking about! read more

The place is filthy and it's obvious that management does not care. This used to be a nice store but has been on a consistent down hill slide. I will take my business elsewhere, somewhere clean and that operates with a little pride. The pharmacy counter tops look as though they have never been cleaned, carpets in Pharmacy waiting area need to be cleaned or replaced as well. Produce and deli is old, dark and smells. Something has changed here!! We have been coming to this Tom Thumb for years and lately the customer service has really been lacking! The cashiers especially!! No sense of appreciation for the customer, no Hi, no Thank You, no smile, no eye contact ; it's like they couldn't find a job anywhere else and this is the only place that would hire them. Seriously, what is so hard just smiling and saying hi, or at the very least respond when I say Hello!! Maybe it's a reflection of poor management decisions? This is still a nice area, why the change?? 04/21/2019 AND THE SAGA CONTINUES... was sitting in the parking lot of Tom Thumb with my puppy with all the windows open enjoying the beautiful weather when I noticed this very large young lady in uniform driving a golf cart with a yellow flashing light on top; she would drive around in her golf cart where a I was parked and just stare at me and my little dog. After her 5th pass she parked next to me and just stared!! I asked her if she needed anything and she said, "it's her job to patrol the parking lot!" I responded to her and said, "Ok." I then asked her if she needed anything from me? She said I've been sitting her too long and I couldn't stay parked for this long. I explained that I had people in the store shipping and she didn't need to worry about me. She then said I needed to move on. When me and Lola (my puppy) ignored her she backed up her little cart and wrote down my license plate. I called the Tom Thumb and spoke with the Manager on Duty, Andrea I believe, who I explained my incident and she provided me with the property managers number and suggested I call and report my incident with them, as well. I'd only go to this place, if it were past 9pm (sams club / whole foods closes).. or if i'm too lazy to go to walmart.. and then its only for like non-produce type items. Forget about Wal Mart people! This place has it all! Aside from the fact It's clean friendly and super easy they have a wide array of groceries as well. There's even a starbucks inside! They always have the prettiest flowers and fresh produce. They also have fresh sushi, an amazing salad and panini bar, an olive bar, and a pretty elaborate meat market bakery and deli. I was in the store on Wednesday evening after work I wanted to pick a few things up for dinner. I went to the butchers case and wanted to get a whole salmon and a couple of ribeye steaks. It was about 7 o'clock in the evening and the store wasn't all that busy. I waited for the Hispanic lady to get off her cell phone and wait on me as a customer. When she looked at me and kept talking on the phone in Spanish I finally had to ask her for help. 1st she "rolled" her eyes at me like I was bothering her. This woman was very unfriendly and rude. I've been shopping here for over 20 years and never have I been treated in this manner. The woman acted like she didn't want to speak English or wanted to understand what I was saying. I finally got the items that I wanted and reluctantly asked to speak to the manager. She a that moment decided to speak English and informed me she was the "Market Manager" and asked what the problem was. I told her she was rude, unprofessional and had the worst customer service I've ever encountered. In response she looked at me "rolled" her eyes and walked away, REALLY! Well Tom Thumb there is a Kroger right down the street where I'll be taking my family business too for now on. Don't know how a business can hire a person like this to manage their department. Okay so reviewing a grocery store seems kind of random, but I just have to brag about my local Tom Thumb. First, the Pharmacy staff is really great, they have always gone above and beyond for me and are always more than willing to fill my Rx's within minutes to get me on my way. The butcher is super nice and always has what I need meat-wise (ha, okay that sounds more than a little wrong), and their take and bake items (like the stuffed pork chops that are heaven sent) rival those of any of the fancy pants grocery stores in this area. All in all I think this Tom Thumb location is on the ball and I am lucky that I can count it among my neighborhood favorites. read more

From the minute you walk in the door the fresh fruit catches your eye.The way this store set is is beautifully,it just draws you in.They have such a variety of organic products but cheaper than whole foods.They have a great deli where we now get our grass feed beef.And they have a lot more variety of products than your average grocery store.It is a little but more expensive but you are definitely getting better quality. Security at door and management allows customers to hand carry small non-service dogs into store...disgusting. This customer and his small dog that he was hand carrying were leaning over food in meats section and other places in the store. Brought it to managements attention, management (John) blew me off and did NOTHING. I left and went to Kroger. This Tom Thumb is nextdoor to where I live, but unsure if I will return there. The meat market should be wearing gloves when they fill plastic containers. I like to buy crab dip or crab salad and every time they use bare hands to handle the container. CHECK YOUR RECEIPTS!!! Mind you, before I moved to Addison, I had THREE Tom Thumbs within a mile of where I lived, and visited them all regularly. On occassion, there would be price discrepancies, but nothing at all like this Tom Thumb location. I've to drive the following day after reviewing my receipt and finding an error after EACH visit, 4 miles to fix it. I usually shop when I get off work, after 10pm, so customer service is not open, for those of you wondering why I don't check my receipt before I leave the store. The last two times, I've asked the customer service agent as to why the problem still exists, when after 4 visits for the same item(big bag of peanuts ring at $5.99 when big signs have shown $4.99 and $3.99) and her response each time, I'm sorry, the manager has noticed there's been a problem with the person who puts in the price adjustments, has had talks with him, but we are still getting ppl like you where he's not done it right. REALLY?? Who needs to be fired first? The manager for not finding a competent person, or the person who can't input into the computer the store's specials....
