Great! I spoke with Sarah in the vitamins department and she was so helpful! I was really overwhelmed by the amount of products and she made it easy. If she didn't know something, she was able to find a way to get an answer. Their gluten free selection is outstanding! Zane (i think that's his name, he was wearing a hat) gave me the lowdown on many of the grocery items. My only criticism is that I wish they had more ready-to-eat foods like sandwiches and stuff. I was originally lured to this chain because I wanted to try "The Paleo Bread" and they were one of the few retailers in my area to carry it. I came to this particular store because I was already in the area on other business Access and parking are decent for this area (the Preston Forest area is a haven for high end shops serving a number of shoppers, so it can be crowded at times). Coming in to the store, there are two sizes of carts available plus plastic hand baskets. The store is laid out in a very intuitive fashion, with foods on the left as you come in, moving towards supplements and other products on the right. It's well lit, clean and overall projects a calm, inviting atmosphere. The product selection is vast for a store this size, including many brands that I'm familiar with and a number that I'm not. I picked up some NuStevia packets for several bucks cheaper tthan GNC, and I did, indeed, find The Paleo Bread as well, but at $10 per loaf (!) and not a great eating experience, it's my last experiment with that (no fault of Natural Grocers, though). Overall, this is a great place to shop for those that are looking for these kinds of goods. Competitor Whole Foods is right across the street, so I suspect they keep each other honest on pricing and products. Check them out! read more

I loooove natural grocers. It is one of the few companies that still adheres to strong standards when they choose to put products on their shelves so you really don't have to research if it's healthy or good ingredients are being used. Please support them especially this newly remodeled location. The employees are knowledgeable and the manager Sean is kind and seems like he loves his people. Nick in vitamins is extremely knowledgeable and has the kindest soul. You will always learn something new about supplements from him. After talking to him I always leave with a product he sold me on. Haha Also, the produce section is always top notch since they hired a new curly haired lady to take it over. It's beautiful! Everything looks full, fresh, and colorful. Let's support this business and go here first to get as much we can on our list before we go to another grocery store. They may not have every single thing on your list, but our patronage helps keep them alive. Besides your eating habits may start changing when shopping here bc the food is so fresh and nutritious that you get satiated and then your meal planning becomes more minimal. I love grocery stores that put the focus on health and wellness. It takes the stress out of shopping for those who have to check all the labels... you can be sure that no bad ingredients will be in your groceries. The produce here was gorgeous. I was tempted to buy some, but wasn't planning on cooking all weekend. Otherwise, I would have loaded up. They have over half the store dedicated to vitamins and supplements for everything you can think of. Plenty of options. I got some lemon almonds from their nut coolers, some iced coffee from a roaster in Austin, some chocolate bars, a bag of granola, and a packet of masala chai tea. Everything has been amazing so far. The prices are much higher here than other grocery stores, so it's not a place I could shop often. I wish it were a bit more affordable. read more

We love this place. They source a lot that other local stores don't have, and many items are better than other markets. The woman who helps with product acquisition (her name begins with a Tzy I believe) is great. I called this place ahead of time to make sure they had this brand in stock and they did! They were so helpful with letting me know they had it in stock and had plenty available for me. When I came into the store later I loved browsing around to see different products even I haven't heard of before. The downfall was I didn't feel like their produce department was fully stocked. I saw some sort of citrus fruit...with lots of spots all over the flesh like it was going bad. They had a lot of different flavors of Kombucha! I decided to try a jasmine flavor. This place has a lot of great healthy items but since the product section isn't so big for my taste I don't think I will be back often. What a great store! I really appreciate that they carry all of the amazing organic brands that we have grown to depend on and love, unlike an unnamed competitor who was taken over by an evil giant and now only carries their inferior brand. Natural Grocers' produce is wonderful, and the staff is always friendly and eager to help. You can feel comfortable that if Natural Grocers carries it, it's either organic or fully natural and safe. Natural Grocers gets right to the point. Not as many options as other chain stores, but they have carefully curated the best of each item type. Perfect if you're an organic foodie, lactose intolerant, or have a sensitivity to gluten. Everything is clearly labeled. The store is easy to navigate & in case you do need assistance, the staff is incredibly knowledgable especially when it comes to their large vitamin selection. Prices are most times half the price of Whole Foods across the street. My only wish is that they had a larger fruit selection. Make sure you bring your own bags or buy a reusable tote at the front or else you'll be carrying your groceries out in boxes. Natural Grocers had 4 vegan items that the Preston Whole Foods has carried, that I can find there off and on, but has been out of the 4 times I have been there since the coronavirus. Looking for specialty health food items or vegan foods? Check this place out! NGVC has a nice selection of pretty much every food item in healthy form. Dairy free creamers, milks, and ice creams? Check! And in all the flavors you can imagine. Need a new plant based protein shake? It's here. How about that hard to find stuff like nutritional yeast or egg replacer or arrowroot starch? NGVC's got it! The store is rather small, but that makes those odd items much easier to find. There is a small fresh produce section, a great frozen dessert section, and a section of frozen meatless "meats". The best thing is that NGVC has great sales on all kinds of nifty items you wanted to try. I've seen vegan cheesecake, flavored almond milk creamers, and kombucha tea drinks on sale over the past week. So if you wanted to try some of these things without making the full investment come here. They also have a rewards program where you earn points each time you shop. Finally, don't forget to bring your own bags. They don't provide paper or plastic here. However, on your first trip they will give you a free reusable bag, it's a good one with the longer straps too. :) read more

They have lots of all natural, organic options. The prices are fairly decent too. I wouldn't do all of my shopping here though, I would only visit for specialty type of items. I was actually driving to whole foods on Preston/Forest and took a detour took pick up a few things at the walgreens across the street. Walking from my car to walgreens, I noticed natural shampoo brands in a window that I buy at Whole Foods. I've never heard of Natural Grocers but I was intrigued so I decided to check it out. Um, I can't believe I've never been here before! I had an entire shopping list for Whole Foods and I ended up finding about 95% of it at Natural Grocers! And each item was considerably less expensive than Whole Foods! Are you kidding me?! I was finally able to buy a bunch of Weleda products (they also attach coupons to a ton of their products, including Weleda). I went back the next day because I closed the store down and didn't even make it out the hair/skin/body area! Even better, they sell talenti gelato for $3.99, which is of course less than Whole Foods, but it's even cheaper than Target ($4.49). I'm obsessed with this place. I only ask for two things: Please close later than 8 on weekdays and PLEAAASSSEE open a location closer to Uptown/Oak Lawn area! read more

This place is great! I just moved into a new home in Preston Hollow, so am checking out the area, and was so pleased to find this as a Sprouts substitute. Although it is quite a bit smaller than Sprouts, it still has everything I need for my grocery, except for meats and seafood. They have a smallish section of nuts and seeds that are pre-packaged; no bulk bins here. For people with "alternative" dietary needs (gluten-free, vegan) they have a large section of vegan "cheese" and "dairy" products. They also carry a large selection of gluten-free cookies, crackers, and mixes if you like waffles and such. They have an emphasis on vitamins and supplements, and a large selection of personal care items. The produce manager, Joaquin, showed me where to find things, and was super-nice and helpful. The nice service is what will keep me shopping here; it's lots easier to run in here and get what you need as opposed to having to try to navigate the nearby Whole Foods or Central Market. read more

After passing this store over and over, I decided it was time to wander around. It looked so grand and almost like it was calling to challenge the Whole Foods right across the street. Upon entering, I was surprised that it wasn't as large as it looked from the outside. The produce selection was ok and the prices were reasonable - less than WF but not what I normally would want to pay for my produce. The staff was very helpful and I was asked several times if I needed help. One thing, like another Yelper, that concerned me was that the store was pretty empty. In the 20 minutes I was there, only 2 other patrons came in... odd. The shelves were well stocked but nothing really seemed familiar. Perhaps I just don't know my organic/healthy ABCs well enough yet. I doubt I'll go back, not because of the store itself, but the location just isn't convenient for me. read more

I am always on the lookout for new gluten free options for my husband so when I saw there was another "natural" store to try, I was excited! The #1 thing I come here for now is Against the Grain frozen gluten-free pizzas. They are cheaper than Whole Foods and sometimes on sale for even less! They also carry the very expensive (yet very yummy) Against the Grain french bread. They also have a huge assortment of different kinds of flours which would be great if I was the kind of gluten-free person that tries to bake (but I am not.) The produce is quite limited as is the dairy/refrigerated section- like, it's $5 orange juice and this weird half and half that goes bad instantly or the highway. I am not personally a health nut nor do I really care about organics but I always enjoy having another option for stuff. Sometimes it works out well but sometimes you try a new brand of gluten free mac and cheese and it's gross (Ancient Harvest, not a fan but obviously not Natural Grocer's fault!) But then sometimes you try something new (coconut sugar) and you're like ooh where have you been all my life? The people that work there range from cute young guys to older spacey hippie ladies to just regular nice folk so the service is generally fine (and sometimes FWINE, if you know what I mean.) I'm also not a bag-bringer usually so I try to have a bag with me when I go but sometimes I walk out with the Box of Shame, it's not that big a deal. read more

I like a lot of things about this place. First the organic produce is generally very good, and nearly always less expensive than Tom Thumb's and Trader Joe's organic produce--not to mention Whole Foods or Central Market. I like the size of the store--it's relatively small and I can find things and get in and out easily. They have a lot of great unusual organic ice creams and yogurt brands, like Whole Foods, but at significantly lower prices. Same with premium chocolate bars and other unusual candies. Raw nuts, seeds, dried fruits etc.,, same story--premium quality and lower prices. Plus they have great sale prices and markdowns of expiring items. What I don't like is that you really have to keep an eye on how your groceries are rung up at the register. Cashiers tend to overlook markdown produce, etc. prices, and sale items sometimes are not input to the registers, so they ring up at full price. read more

I've raved about Natural Grocers before. It has become the only place where I do my grocery shopping. There are 3 Dallas stores: Preston Forest, Coit and Campbell, and Preston Forest. I shop most often at the Preston Forest store. Why do I like it? Prices are the VERY BEST, all of the produce is USDA certified organic (it's not mixed in with conventional produce like at other stores), wonderful bath and beauty products, great dog food, huge supplement area, gourmet grocery items, immaculate, the very best trained staff, great service, and after being in business since 1955, they are still family-owned! How unusual is that? Nuts are refrigerated to keep them fresh and all ingredients are carefully evaluated for safety. It's a fun place to shop and when I'm there I always learn something new. I eat the freshly ground peanut butter and almond butter (yep, ground right in the store) with a spoon-- forget the bread! They also have what they call as Nutritional Health Coaches who meet with people privately and AT NO charge to help people support their health through good nutrition. Yes, free. Just moved to Dallas from San Fran and have felt health withdrawal from the lack of healthy options in this city. For groceries ive been going to the farmers market but organic options there are limited. Whole foods is too expensive for me and central market is where ive been going. But i stumbled upon Natutal Grocers yesterday and was delighted. The fruits and vegetables are ONLY organic. And there are more vitamins than a vitamin store. I found my goat kefir and sprouted breads and plant based protein powders easily. Love this place read more

I really hope this place stays in business because I really like it. It seems kind of empty whenever I am there. I love it for staples and for meats - they have single portion organic meats. I get loose spices here too. The only reason I'm docking it a star is because the produce section is not as large and plentiful as say, the main Central Market and the vitamin selection is not huge, but I really like the easy in and out of this size store. I hope some of the Whole Foods people will migrate over here. I like the fact that they don't use bags either - you bring your own or use their cardboard boxes. Natural Grocers is the Best stores to buy food from in Dallas.

I like this store and shop there as often as I can. It has better prices than a lot of the natural foods places nearby (Whole Foods) and a great selection of natural health and hygiene products. The essential oil and bath products section is great. I wish the fresh produce section was bigger and had a better selection, but that's really my only complaint. I usually shop here first when I can, and then just pick up any produce they didn't have on my way home. It has the best prices, isn't a giant chain, and clearly has a commitment to healthy organic food, so it's definitely worth the trip. read more

I've started shopping at Natural Grocers in Dallas and Santa Fe because their produce is fresh - unlike Whole Foods (WF) where I can buy fruit and veggies and they are moldy or showing signs of spoiling within 2-3 days. The Organic Valley mozzarella I like is $2 less than WF. Their Boulder Natural chicken is also outstanding. I find everything I need here and save 30% on my grocery bill. It's not about conspicuous consumption like WF and lots of unhealthy sweets and fatty meat like WF. read more
