I had tried to return some keto hotdog buns a week prior for Fourth of July. When I went to pull out the cabinet, I had noticed they were significantly molded. I didn't have my receipt because it had gotten lost. I went to this Kroger @ Capital to try and exchange it out for another one and was told I couldn't because I didn't have a receipt. They were not very helpful and it honestly wasn't worth the argument, I could tell I wasn't gonna get anywhere, or have the time to argue. So I just went and started the process of purchasing them. In the middle of the procedure of bringing them up a nice gentleman came over and asked to look at them, and also noticed the cost of them which were not cheap because they were keto hotdog buns. I explain to him I understand that's why I'm trying to get them exchanged out. I needed them for this weekend for Fourth of July. He was so kind to make an exception for me and went ahead and exchanged them out. His name is Vincent and he went out of his way to walk over after the fact to make a customer happy. WARNING: CASHIER ASSAULTS CUSTOMER on Saturday, 7/29/2023 at 4:24 PM. Emesha, a store cashier assaulted me after asking to talk to a manager about my pick up order missing 5 items. She told me to go get the missing items myself, because that's the way they do things there. She justified her statement by following up with, "I'm just trying to get you in and out of the store and on your way home." I asked to speak to someone above her and she stated, "Yeah, they are not here." I took a picture of her and after doing so she put her right hand in my face and grabbed my phone away with her left hand and held it back from me. She also shoved me twice in the process of trying to grasp my phone back. She then loosened her grip on my phone and I was able to get it back, but not because she was handing it back. Upon walking away from the altercation, she threatened to call the police on me! DO NOT GO TO THIS STORE!!! If you have a customer complaint they are incompetent of handling the situation. A simple refund turned into an assault on a customer. read more

I always tend to end up at this Kroger because it's the closest one to my house. Parking can easily because an issue here because it's an apartment complex, a gym and a bank all sharing the same parking lot so it can easily become congested. The fruit can be hit or miss but I do love their vegetables and fresh seafood. They RARELY have their registers open so self check out line is usually pretty long. I've come across some great people that work here but I've also come across several that weren't the nicest. They recently did a renovation and now have a nice Starbucks so that's always a plus! read more

It's a typical Krogers (a reasonable facsimile to a Safeway); fairly clean and well stocked with pretty much anything you'd need. The staff here is a little annoying at times, since they're doing a "donate to a local student scholarship drive", and the cashiers guilt-trip you (and they're fairly persistent) into donating. And when you do contribute, they broadcast it throughout the store. I get it's for a good cause, and I hate to be "that guy", but it is a little irritating after a while. On the plus side, the self-checkout attendants are usually fairly helpful and attentive, so that's good. The last time I wanted to check out, all of the registers were closed, so the self-checkout line was over a dozen people/carts long (thankfully two rows of self-checkout made the line dwindle fairly quickly). Another two lanes of self-checkout were opened at the other end of the store, but there were at least 3-4 attendants at the self-checkout lanes, so I'm curious as to why nobody was manning the actual registers. Finally, as I was leaving, two of the staff were having a casual non-work conversation, blocking the exit, so I asked them politely to move for my cart. They did so, but muttered under their breath for me to use the other exit. It was rather rude, since not only is that not appropriate customer service, but my car was parked at the other end of the parking lot, and the exit was right in front of me, which they were blocking. Overall, Krogers itself is great. You can probably find whatever you're looking for there, even if it might not be food, and for reasonable prices. But the staff and service don't always make your shopping experience a positive one. read more

New to working in the area, and I wasn't quite sure where this particular Kroger's was located. Needed to pick up lunch for my work shift. Once inside, everything was laid out like your typical Kroger's store. As soon as I found what was needed for the day, I sped through the self-check lane. Quick and painless! I love Kroger, but this is by far the worst location i've ever been to. As soon as you walk in the smell is terrible, but especially in the dairy section. I opened the fridge door and it smelled like something died. There was mold covering the bottom of the fridge and it was on the yogurt containers I was hoping to buy. Only go to this store if you are desperate. They usually have 1 check out open, so you have to do the self checkout and they have item limits so the "attendant" has to constantly come enter a code. Oh, and the "attendants" have a shortage of brain cells and don't have any customer service skills or training. Avoid this store. It serves its purpose. I didn't realize how spoiled I was because I typically go to a signature location. The selection of meat (chicken) seemed limited. I was pretty Frustrated and ultimately picked something else up for chicken. It also felt really tight near the registers because there were some shipments blocking the aisle. Sure, you can buy most of the things one could ever want at this Kroger location, but when compared to others, it feels a bit more chaotic. A few reasons why: - They share a lot with a few other businesses, so it feels a bit more cramped. - Not sure why, but their lot also has a lot of trash all over. Not sure if they have anyone to pick it up. - They have cops both inside and outside of this location. I don't know anything about the neighborhood, but I guess things could go down here? Aside from that, I generally purchase a few essentials, like lamb shoulders, ground turkey, and other proteins, on the cheap. I also enjoy their robust produce selection, which I find a lot more plentiful and organized when compared to other grocery stores in the area. Check it out for yourself! read more

So it's got it's problems right? I think a lot of those are do to understaffing. If you come in anytime on the weekend after 12pm or any weekday after 5pm, you better expect to wait. But here's the thing, most people in the area that shop there during those times are in their mid-late 20's and are doing self check out with maybe 10-15 items. It moves fast. Occasionally there will be a rude guest that makes the whole line thing unbearable/awkward/aggressive for no reason. But hey; such is life. With that out of the way; it's a great store, they have some dedicated staff, wide selection, and a nice roomie layout. Personally I've noticed that now and then produce takes a bit of a downturn every couple of months, but that's a supplier issue, not a grocer issue. Deli, butcher/fisher, and baker are always killing it from what I see, and the stockers are quick, maneuver well, and are quick to help with questions. Check out; while a bit of a nightmare, has a pretty good team working it. I too think that self check out only is kind of awful, and it's awkward, especially when I have to go through, have 30 items, 15 of which I have to key in. I'm with LeighP on this. We needed this grocery store. I've only been in a couple times, and haven't really made it past the produce and beer section, but I liked what I saw of each. Very organized and there were a lot of free samples around in the produce section. The parking lot was crazy busy the first time I went, and had to circle around. Not so bad on the second time. There are people outside the store selling food from food carts. Yesterday's vendor was selling ribs. They smelled so good. There was also a frito pie making station before going inside the store. Looked free, but I'm not sure?! I'll definitely be shopping here on my next grocery outing if I can remember and not automatically go to the Albertsons. read more

This Kroger is the grocery store of choice for me. They have everything I need and are seldom out of stock. Produce is prepared for the buyer and it all looks like a buy! Only issue, when it's busy the aisles are difficult to maneuver. It seems like they are always stocking when I shop...or, they are so busy they need to re-stock constantly. The staff of workers at this location are just okay. They seem exhausted and overworked. Very little attentiveness and seems like mundane. It was not like this on prior visits last year. Being new to the area I was very disappointed by the condition of the store and quality of food provided after raising prices. When Kroger trucks came to South Florida I was so anxious to visit an actual store. But in my 3 visits I've noticed the meat selection getting lazier, the produce quality is poor and the lack of cashiers is not convenient. I will be trying another location from now on. read more

The Kroger at this location is pretty good. Parking isn't the best here and can feel congested. The nearby fire department usually make grocery runs here so their trucks are parked right in front of the store creating more traffic. Everything else about the Kroger is nice though. My pickup order had 3 meat items that were expired or a day from expiring and 4 items missing from my order. They emailed me telling me they added $5 to my Kroger card. Unfortunately, the usual miserable experience with unfriendly staff, long lines, An unkept parking lot that looks like a Walmart. This was a specific trip to the pharmacy where the staff couldn't be bothered to pick their head up and look by the register to see customers patiently. Took 30 minutes to pick up a prescription . The trenches.... Whoever is managing this store needs to be terminated. The "Customer Service" is non-existent. The store is hardly stocked, the parking lot is full of trash, the lines are long and consistent which seems to have less to do with a worker shortage and more to do with them not activating all of their self-checkout lanes like the Mockingbird location. Between this one and Cedar Springs, I don't know which is worse. Pick a struggle, you'll find it at Kroger-Capitol. I'll pay more to go to Tom Thumb and deal with less bs read more
