Nice cashiers (Ms Jackie especially) and friendly staff. Clean store with a lot of offerings at a reasonable price point. Enjoy the convenience of living close by. However, the last 5 times I shopped here, four of these visits had incorrect pricing. Even though I clicked on the ForU deals, the price decrease did not reflect on the receipt. My last refund was $12.54: prior to this it was $7.84. In the course of 2 weeks, I was refunded roughly $50.00 for items not being properly discounted. The Good: Tom Thumbs are all DFW, so there is one near everyone. It's convenient. Most of these grocery stores have a Starbucks inside, so you can caffeinate while shopping. When you give up your email address for in-store savings/specials, 70% of your coupons will be Awesome savings. Occasionally, they'll even email you a freebie. Staff at this location is super friendly & helpful. The Bad: Everyday prices are high. I only shop at Tom Thumb due to the great coupons they email here, so sign up. The Ugly: I've seen lots of bruised, withered fruits & veggies at this location. I think the issue has to do with keeping stockers staffed, but there really is no excuse. This store is located in the Bluffview/Highland Park area of West Dallas. It is my favorite grocery store to shop at for various reasons. First, with every other car in the parking lot being a very luxurious, highly priced vehicle. Shopping carts are corralled in a timely manner. I have never seen an overflow or stray EVER. One ding in a $$$$$ super priced, highly prized set of wheels would be very costly and bad for business. Now my car is a 2008 Benz and not expensive. But I still appreciate the lack of random or careless carts flying into my baby and denting the heck out of her. Which happens at other places more than we like to acknowledge or want to deal with. Secondly, the variety of wine and beer at this store is impressive. In addition there are chilled as well as room temperature options to choose from in both wine & beer. Kudos Tom Thumb. Thirdly, the exceptional high quality and variety of products offered here at this location is outstanding. Fourthly, the Sushi chef making fresh daily goodies in the deli section is well appreciated. There were several brown rice sushi options with seaweed salad, that are delicious. Whenever I buy the Sushi entrees, they are so fresh, they crumble and melt in your mouth. And for around $10 for a 12 piece Tuna roll entree is a great price. Finally, there are tons of fresh cut fruits and vegetables in their produce department. Which are great on the go snacks. Fresh cheese, hummus, and some veggies are my favorites. I am trying to eat healthier with a budget too; Which is not an oxymoron. Tom Thumb may have a few higher than normal priced items. But overall, there is great value, high quality, and wonderful service too. read more

Curbside Pickup Fail Much grace is given because covid complicates all things.. but this store will waste you time. Placed an order the day prior for 5pm pickup. Arrived and called only to be told the order wasn't ready. Was told they would call when the order was ready and never did. Called at 9pm and informed order was ready. They delivered 5 of the 15 items but said the order was complete. Upon checking, realized the order was incomplete and ventured inside. There was no one at customer service and all the employees shrugged their shoulders and explained that it wasn't their department. Grabbed a hand basket and shopped and found the remainder of the items. Don't waste your time! read more

Calling corporate. There is a national emergency and they wouldn't let us in to get ONE GALLON of water. We told the lady and manager we were all out of water it was 9:55! They close at 10!! I said why would you close 5min early at a time like this?!! She said with an attitude "We can close 10min early if we want!" We had just got off a plane and had absolutely nothing!!! The staff is really what makes this location, I choose to come here just because of them. They are super friendly and treat you like family. The selection in the meats department could be better but they've got a killer wine selection so that saves it for me! I am a huge fan of their everything bagels in the bakery as well, to die for! There's no ethnic diverse grocery items (international brands). If you visit the store with the intention to prepare a Latin recipe, for example, you'll waist your time. The's no consistency with the customer experience given that the store doesn't carry the same products in a consistent manner. I'm not able to find the same products with every visit. It's a shame because is the most convenient location to visit from where I live, but every time a visit any Tom Thumb I end up visiting Kroger to find the things couldn't find at Kroger. After waiting another month, I was told they have no notes of speaking to me and needed to contact my doctor again. They are having to start over and have no record of speaking to me or contacting my doctor. This is absolutely ridiculous. This was one of the first Tom Thumb supermarkets that I went to when I first moved to Dallas. They've got awesome produce and a great selection of meats as well. Well, what a bummer. This is for the Starbucks inside this store. I don't feel too bad putting this on the Tom Thumb rating because the baristas are technically Tom Thumb employees, not Starbucks. This is the only Starbucks on my route to work (hard to believe!) I stopped in for a coffee and was not impressed in the slightest. The barista didn't look up at me when I was at the register. Instead of saying something like 'how may I help you?' Or What can I get you?' Or 'what would you like?' She said 'What do you want?' It was awkward. I ordered a Venti Vanilla Latte ($5+) And instead I received a Venti cup with 3 inches of foam- so really about a tall coffee. I think I'll drive out of my way to pick up a coffee the next time I need an extra boost before work. I love the bakery!! They have BEST glazed donuts! I live in Frisco and thought all Tom Thumbs were created equal. Nope. The donuts in my local Tom Thumb need some prayer. Unfortunately there isn't another grocery store in the area (there is smaller Walmart but who wants to go there on a Sunday either). Parking lot is small with small spaces. On 3/22/2020 I picked up a curbside order from Tom Thumb on Inwood. They said their system was down at the time, so they couldn't give me a receipt and would email it to me later. They never sent my receipt. When I got home, many ordered items were missing. I called the store and asked if any grocery bags were possibly overlooked when they brought my order to my car. They said that the missing items were due to demand. I had no receipt, so on my order printout, I noted which items were missing. Based on the items that were delivered, I should have been charged $71.44. However, my credit card was charged $123.17. I was overcharged $51.73. I have contacted the store repeatedly to try to resolve the issue, to no avail. They said they sent to "corporate" to resolve. I asked who I could call at "corporate" about the issue, and I was told that I cannot contact "corporate." I have emailed customer service through the Tom Thumb website but have received no response other than an automated response saying they have received my message. I'm too tired and sick to write a long review but don't bother using the delivery service. I'm on my third attempt to get basic supplies since I'm currently under quarantine. My order was "on time" at noon. It is 8:16 pm and my order to be delivered between 3-7 is nowhere to be seen. The only update I've gotten is from checking status on the new (and crappy) app which simply says "your order is delayed". No text, no phone call, nothing. If I sound grumpy, it's because I am. I'm not stupid...I understand hiring is difficult and times are tough but a simple text or courtesy call would have been appreciated. Oh and I was charged for the service (which included a pre-calculated tip). Very poor service Tom Thumb. I'm not sure why this place has such a low rating, i guess from skimming other reviews, one person seems really annoyed they didn't carry the brand they wanted... that's a troll review, i'm sorry, your grievances are unwarranted, it's akin to reviewing a restaurant badly because you couldn't get a reservation. rant over. my experience here has been very positive, the place is super clean, the quality of produce is really good, they have a fantastic array of spices (couldn't find goram masala anywhere else including whole foods and trader joe's!), there has generally been a good supply of everything i needed, the people who work there have helped me search for items, and even the return process on an item that was not expired but had somehow gone bad when i opened it was "no questions asked" and very quick. They also have a pretty good (surprisingly so) beer selection with some great deals, as well as an extensive wine collection for a grocery store. We went here because we needed adult beverages for a week, and a corkscrew. They have a really good deal on wine if you stop by the customer service desk and get a membership card. If you fill a six pack, then you get another 10 percent off. Coming from oklahoma, the selection is very good, the prices are ok, and the ability to get it all in a grocery store is just great. As I begin my review, it doesn't surprise me that the overall rating averages around a 3, pretty sad for a grocery store, one would think. YET, after my experience last nite, a 3 seems unfair to a consumer, I would say a 0-1 is more applicable. I plan to write everyone that I can find associated with T Thumb regarding last night , for my experience is both unbelievable and sad and rude. As I checked out at approximately 6:20 p.m., I glanced over my receipt as I suspected something must be wrong because the amount was so much more than I expected. My eyes located gold Yukon new potatoes for $5.01 (I purchased 4 of these small potatoes to go with my beef roast. Before I left the store, I went back to the produce department and found that all the red and gold new potatoes were $1.29 lb. ALL OF THEM! So, I went to customer service to ask what could have happened only to find another irritated customer in front of me, furious, she said she had been waiting for help for over 15 minutes and no one had come out of the back to help her, even when she asked a cashier to page a manager. So, we waited together for at least an additional 15-20 minutes before another CASHIER to appear and she told "us" that there were no managers that could be located and she had limited skills and no authority for refunds (a like), but that she would try. She helped the lady in front of me and then started to listen to me (not really listen, for I had to repeat my problem a few times to which she said to me "TATER's have been going up, lately; this is probably correct." to which I replied that there was no way that 4 small gold potatoes where $5.01. She then asked me to go back (me, not her) and confirm the price; I did; I only saw the $1.29/lb prices, I came back to customer service, just to wait again to someone else now in line. When it became my turn, again, she stated that there was nothing she could do (remember......I had a roast to cook, but remember also that price is absurd). I remember the cashier's name now (LaTrenna). She called over the intercom again trying to confirm the price and whoever answered said ( I could hear), well, it's probably right, but just send him back here (2nd trip), after I waited 15-20 minutes he explained that produce had been going up, I agreed, but not like this; DeWayne said that the charge was probably write, yet he understood my concern over seeing a the stickers saying $1.29/lb. He continued, saying this must be my fault (did you here that? HOW, I asked him), he said that potatoes are now measure either by count (I don't believe that) or that I might had selected, unintentionally a potato that was slightly larger than the $1.29/lb potatoes or maybe I selected one that was priced by count instead of by the pound. This, my YELP and Tom Thumb friends, is a lot of bull, if you ask me and I am asking and demanding an explanation. Lastly, I refused to pay for the potatoes and when LaTrenna tried to return, she doubled the cost instead of refunding it (OH, btw, she said that was my error). Anyone reading this, may assume this whole review just can't be true, but, OH, YES, it's true? Will I go back? I would say doubtful except this store is about 6 blocks from my residence. I don't know, but I promise I'll watch everything more closely, YEP! I ask all of you, would your pay $5.01 for 4 small yellow potates smaller than a golf ball, just to add to a post roast. Now, I'll have to serve it tonight with only carrorts celery, I already had. SAD. May I also give a commendation, please? The cashier that waited on me was very apologetic about the original price the register charged me; she said she was new and didn't know what to do. I think she was oriental, but I'm not sure, but I am sure she was lovely! I cannot seem to find her name on the receipt. He had all the artesian cheese I craved. His gourmet selections were out of this world. He was interesting, signature, mysterious, and alluring. He even had a second floor. He wanted to be different in a very hoity-toity way. He was my Whole Foods before I knew Whole Foods existed. I wanted to make a special visit to him last night because I missed him. I drove over for a surprise rendezvous and the excited built the closer I headed towards Inwood. But to my horror, he was not longer there. You were there instead. Standing before me, cold and cookie-cutter, just like the rest of them. The artesian cheese selection that I once craved was gone, replaced with processed low-fat cheese. At least you had brie; you are generous. And you had my favourite Greek yogurt. The one with the honey. I shall make a note, but in no way does this redeem you. I came in there for cheese, but ended up spending over $75. I need you to explain this to me. I could have spent that at Whole Foods.
