Came here for dinner on a Monday night. Ordered at the counter to go and the food came out in around 10 minutes. I personally think the best bang for your buck is the kids meal. I got a chicken teriyaki, and it was very plentiful. They had lots of indoor seating however we decided to take out food to go. Have a very good experience. On October 3, 2025, between 5:00-6:00 PM, I visited the Mississippi Ave. location with my mother and children. When we arrived, we stood behind another family who waited nearly 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged them. After their order was finally taken, the staff turned away and prioritized online orders, leaving my family and me standing at the register for an additional 20 minutes without so much as a greeting. We voiced frustration about leaving several times, yet no employee took notice or made any attempt to assist. After 30 minutes of being ignored, we walked out and spent our money elsewhere. I cannot comment on the food, portion size, packaging, or cleanliness because we were never given the opportunity to order. This was not my first negative experience at this location, but it will certainly be my last. Years ago, this store had employees who took pride in their work and cared about customers. Every time I give it another chance to this place it's always meh!!! The food is either salty or too sweet. The service is excellent that's the best of it. Went for a leasurly lunch date with my honey recently. We LOVE us some TJ's! The place was mostly empty but for a few people. More employees than customers. The egg is the most amazing surprise added to an already delicious soup. Everything else was tasty as well...love a good poke bowl and TJ's is my favorite! The chicken in the spring rolls was a tad dry but the sauces help. Why 3 stars? It took a reallllly long time for our food to arrive after we ordered. To go orders were flying out the door which gave the impression that maybe our order was being pushed back to get the to go orders out. This was my second trip to this location (both times I have gone with my sister, who is an avid Tokyo Joe's fan). I think the ambiance of the restaurant is fine - it's not too loud or too quiet, however, it was quite cold this most recent trip (but there are worse problems to have - it was 80 degrees outside)! The servers/employees are always nice (I take a bit to order because as I said, this last visit was only my second one), and they are super helpful about explaining the menu and the options available, as well as suggestions to make the food how they think you might like it (based on what you say). The food was hot (since it's cooked/heated to order - mostly), and it was pretty good. This last time, I got (I don't remember the name) a noodle dish, and I would pass on that the next time, personally. I think the first time I got the MoJo(?) bowl, which I liked better than the noodle version/dish. My go to fast casual restaurant whenever I'm in the area. Since this is a fast casual chain, the food is ready quickly and makes for a fast in and out meal. The environment is casual and they even have a small patio and a private indoor section. They really thought of everything at this location. The staff are always helpful, have great attitudes and are knowledgeable about the menu. I love the interaction even if it is brief. Chicken Teriyaki with white rice. I could eat this everyday, it's that good. Not to mention, this is a healthier restauarant with all the extra veggies you can add on. They also offer different varieties of teas which are always tasty and a good change of pace. Love the food. The wife and I have eaten here for years. Tonight's call in order was met with no answer. The answering system keep telling me to order online which I prefer not to. Plus I was driving. So many possibilities that have occurred in the past that I wish not to reoccur. But to no avail. I had to order online tonight. It took longer to do everything online than it would have with a person on the phone. But that takes too much time for you as a company to pay someone to answer the phone and take a order. Maybe yo busy for customer convenience. I had to pull over and do the order on the side of the road on my phone. Be personable and pick up the phone. First time at Tokyo Joe's and I think I just found my new lunch spot! + Food was made quickly + Everything was fresh + Lots of specials going on throughout the week + Most things seem to have a vegetarian option + Generous amount - Restaurant is dimly lit, which isn't always totally my favorite sometimes. Update! I cake back on a Tuesday to try the poke tacos. It was worth the try, but probably wouldn't get it again. Doesn't seem like a popular dish, either. You get to choose salmon or tuna (all raw). Why oh why Tokyo Joe's!!?? You took mushrooms away and it makes me so sad. The one thing that has a meaty feeling with the umami flavor for us vegetarians. Pretty disappointing, you can source wild salmon but you can't provide a alternate protein product that isn't manufactured in a factory (tofu). Full disclosure: I ordered delivery and it came over an hour late so i'm not sure how much of this is due to the long time I had to wait I ordered a chicken teriyaki bento box with veggies, a spicy salmon roll, and a side of a four piece Yo roll. The chicken was super overcooked and swimming in teriyaki sauce, plus they gave me an extra side of sauce that I didn't need. The veggies were just steamed mixed veggies and the sushi rolls fell apart the minute you tried to pick them up with chopsticks. I love their tea and wish I could buy it by the gallon to have at home. The service here is hit or miss. Actually, at all TJs the amount of veggies you actually get is unpredictable at best. On my most recent visit they added things I didn't order and missed a couple that I did. Just something to consider if you have an allergy or aversion to something that might end up in your bowl. Their chicken is lean and tastes good. They have several other proteins and a decent selection of vegetables (15+?) for your bowl. I opt for brown rice usually, but they also have white rice, ramen noodles or allow you to skip carbs entirely and get a ton of veggies. The kids Bento boxes are great too. Sort of a deconstructed version of the bowls and generous portions. My daughter likes playing with the edamame (but hey, exposure!) and enjoys the addition of fresh mandarin oranges on her plate. read more

Instead, you pretty much have teriyaki, spicy peanut ( which is too spicy for me) and some broth sauce. None really appeal to me besides teriyaki. My absolute FAVORITE Tokyo Joe's! I can't count on my fingers and toes combined the amount of times I've been to this Tokyo Joe's; I'll frequent at least once or twice a week! The staff are professional, friendly, punctual and timely! I have never had to wait that long in a Tokyo Joe's line, which proves the efficiency of every worker; from the cooks to those at the register, they work hard! The wait time for food generally ranges from about 10-20 minutes depending on how busy they might be at the time. Dinner time rush hour is probably the longest time, but it's worth it once you get the food. I find myself craving the almighty, god-blessed, drool enducing Mojo Bowl. Succulent white chicken and a pillar of white rice with the perfect dose of the angelic sweet and sour sauce! That plus the crisp veggies just create the lovliest sensation! Mix that in with some sriracha and your mouth will sing to the angels. The food gets a 4.5. I ate here several times because it was down the street from the hospital where my friend is currently. The service... Ugh... It could be slow. One day, I waited 30 minutes for a take-out order. They seemed short staffed, but really how hard is it to put together rice bowls?! That was super annoying. But at least the food was consistent, and made me feel like I was eating healthier than at other chains. I ordered, on different days - a tuna poke bowl, salmon poke bowl, and mahi mahi bowl.
