I've been here a few times. The service is top notch. They treat you like family and are always so welcoming. The restaurant has plenty of seating and can accommodate a modestly large group - may just want to give them a call ahead to arrange ahead of time. Everything they offer is fresh, flavorful and beautifully plated. The sushi is on point and fresh! Crab cheese wontons are delicious, potstickers are too. Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon to get a little of everything. A friend told me about this place and glad I stopped by. It was not too busy when we got there but by the end all the tables were fairly full. Started off with their BOGO SAKE and a few beers . Ordered the chefs choice of sashimi and were pleasantly surprised with the selection given . It was fresh and delicious. I little thickly cut but the taste was very good. A little yellowtail, white fatty tuna and albacore to start it off with a delicious yummy roll that melted into my mouth. We ordered a few bento boxes because for the price you just had too . It was affordable , fresh, pleasant and full of flavor . From the wonton soup , to the shrimp tempura , to the orange chicken my family was happy. Will definitely be back and ended the evening with the owner stopping by at the table to ask how was the food which just made me feel welcomed and ready to come back soon ! We came here for sushi, and honestly, the experience was pretty mixed. The service was subpar right from the start, it took around 15 minutes just for someone to come over and take our drink order. I get that they were busy, but that's still a pretty ridiculous wait, especially when you're just trying to get situated and settle in. The overall vibe of the place is pretty average restaurant energy, nothing bad, just nothing that really stands out. The one thing I did really like was the presentation. They brought the sushi out on a boat, which was super fun and definitely made the meal feel a lot more special. It's a cute touch and probably the highlight of the whole experience. Unfortunately, the sushi itself didn't sit well with me at all. It made my stomach hurt really badly afterward, and it also messed up my mother-in-law's stomach too, which was super disappointing. When food looks great but makes you feel horrible later, it's hard to overlook. That being said, my sister really loves their Yummy Roll, it's her favorite and we haven't been able to find it anywhere else. So even though this visit wasn't great, I'm sure we'll end up coming back at some point just because of that one roll. I just really hope the next experience is better. read more

I have tried this place out I believe around times already and the only reason why I've tried it so many times is because it's close to Buckley SFB. It's convenient that it's close by when I'm craving sushi and I do not need to drive far. However, in my honest opinion, I would not recommend their sushi. The workers are nice and attentive. The interior is presentable. Nothing too noteworthy. The fish itself is not bad quality. It's decently cut. It's how the sushi rice is made that really brings down the quality of the sushi dish. The sushi rice is overly soggy and sticky. It does not have a good texture or taste to it. I thought maybe it was just bad prep the first time around but the second time I got sushi it was the same thing. The miso soup was also okay. It was nice and hot and tasted good but the seaweed they had in there was overly chewy and hard to swallow. Another time that I came here I got their Chinese dish, beef broccoli. It tasted good when it was piping hot but as the food started becoming room temperature, you can really start tasting the msg in it. All in all, I would only ever come back for the convenience of it being not too far from my work place but it is definitely not my first, second, or third choice. read more

Located in a convenient strip mall, Saigon Tokyo serves up some great eats! Great service! Yeah, we were the only ones dining in the whole time, but they really took the extra time to make us feel special and well looked after. Crab Cheese Wontons. Good food and good prices. The people that work here are very friendly and are very efficient. I ordered the hot and sour soup as an appetizer, which was good but much spicier than most other places I have tried it. My main dish was the General Tao's Chicken with a side of white rice. It was very flavorful and definitely would order this dish again. We got our food relatively quick and it was prepared fresh. There is plenty of free parking available as well. Craving sushi, we browsed our options and chose Saigon Tokyo for our lunch date. BITES: We started with an order of cheese wontons. We chose four rolls to split, including: Philadelphia, spicy crab, rainbow, and Jenny. While the rolls were good and everything tasted fresh; they weren't anything particularly memorable. Serving it up on a mini boat was a nice touch. BEVVIES: Knowing that we were heading over to a nearby brewery after our meal, we decided to sip on a couple Sapporo's with our sushi. SPACE: Inside was very modern. I liked the lantern/umbrella decor. Nothing super special about the interior. SERVICE: This was probably the biggest drawback to our experience. Service was very awkward and ridiculously slow. There were three tables including us during our visit. The two girls working never checked back with us to see if we needed anything additional. When they brought out checks for us and the table next to us, they didn't bring a pen for them. Luckily, they weren't shy about asking to use ours. While Saigon Tokyo was alright, I have other sushi restaurants in the area that I'll gladly make my way back to before returning here. read more

Their low carb rolls were unusually diff than other places as in it was not fresh either. Spicy tuna Naruto roll had a weird texture (and I've eaten plenty)...so to say the least it was not good. The snow crab roll didn't have any snow crab taste and i did ask the waitress if it was real snow crab. She confirmed they were. I really love the bento boxes at Saigon Tokyo. The fried rice was delicious, miso soup was wonderful, california sushi roll was delicious and pretty! We were in the mood to try a new sushi place, and decided to try this location. The strip storefront itself in pretty unassuming but inside it is open and normally very busy. We greatly enjoy their sushi, when we are in the mood for consistently good sushi we come here. You can get most of the common sushi rolls done well, with a couple of specialty rolls that's include sweet options which are interesting. The service is great and the owner or workers remember you and what you like to order if you came here before. I usually get a bento box depending on my mood. It comes with your choice of soup, I get miso which is nice and hot, gyoza, crab wontons and some sushi with your main entree and of course a musubi (rice ball). I had the shrimp tempura bento box last time and today I had the sesame seed chicken bento box. The sushi was good too, me and my friends had a Manhattan roll which was delicious, off the top of my head I can't remember what else they ordered since I was already indulging myself with my bento box. I feel like this place needs another review. I ordered again last night. I got the fires starter roll again (delicious still) and the salmon nigiri, it was so fresh! I love pad Thai so I decided to give it a try, I got the chicken and shrimp. I didn't have high expectations because normally when restaurants have a little of everything they don't really specialize in anything. The pad Thai was awesome! We came in around 7:30pm. The whole area was super dark. Feeling a little off but we still gave it a try since it's close to our hotel. Walking in, we were the only table inside. The servers didn't speak much English so we had some miscommunication through the ordering process. We had tea, with rolls, tuna sashimi. The vibe, decorations was absolutely quiet and depressing. The sashimi was frozen I could taste the ice melting to water. Spicy tuna roll, spicy salmon roll have like 10% of fish mixed with 90% oily breadcrumbs I tried but I could not eat them. From the simple Menu, I opt to have the Nigiri and Hubs ordered 2 items from the Regular Menu. From what I recall these were the items we had that evening : * Cheese Wonton ($5.25) * Royal Chicken ($9.95) * Shrimp Fried Rice aka Tokyo Fried Rice with Shrimp Option ($9.95) * Hot Vietnamese Coffee ($3.50) for Hubs The items I have on the "Sushi" items were : * Ebi ($1.00) * Octopus ($1.00) * Tamago (Egg) ($1.00) * Squid ($1.00) * Flying Fish ($1.00) * Eel Sushi ($2.50) * Spicy Scallop ($2.50) Take note the Nigiri ORDER ONLY comes with 1 item per Nigiri. I ended my evening with Honey Dew Boba... This establishment was just MEH. YES, maybe its popular with the Neighborhood what nots. The service is OK. The service to bring out our food is fast. The ambience is OK. But I come here to get some Sushi/Nigiri. The Sushi/Nigiri were tiny. I am disappointed with the portions let alone the taste of the Nigiri. *SIGH* Nothing fancy, nothing stellar. Nigiri QUALITY is NOT that good either. The Shrimp Fried Rice, was also MEH. Come on, don't be like another establishment that just put those frozen vegetables like peas and carrots. Create your own creativity or something. Furthermore, the Fried Rice is tossed with those Black Soy Sauce, that I dont fancy that much. *DOUBLE SIGH* The Shrimp Fried Rice was a little greasy, uninspired and once again small portions. At 19:00hrs, they ran out of certain items when we want to order. Maybe this establishment is very busy and popular with the Lunch crowd or something. Even with the Boba I want for my Drink, they ran out. *TRIPPLE SIGH* The server said, they can put the "jelly" that they have. Oh well... Hubs also said his order of Royal Chicken was just MEH. Small portions for his liking. The Royal Chicken is overly salty and too sweet at the same time. The Royal Chicken dish is DRENCHED with too much of Dark Soy Sauce once again. The Hot Vietnamese Coffee comes in with a TALL GLASS, that makes the Coffee colder faster in which Hubs does NOT fancy. We would NOT be returning anytime soon or in the future.
