If you are looking for a Korean restaurant to eat late at night in the Torrance/Gardena area, Tofu Village is a good option. They open until 1am and they offer soon tofu along with other options like seafood pancake, galbi and mackerel. The banchan was average and they ran out of the mixed rice option, but overall, the soon tofu was tasty. Given that there are fewer options in the area that are open late at night, if you want something other than fast food, it's worth checking out. Parking was easy as it's in an outdoor plaza. There was one server, but she was nice and did her best to manage all the tables by herself.
Tofu Village is one of those places I've been going to for so long that I honestly can't remember when I first started coming here. It's always nice seeing the same servers over the years since they recognize us and always make sure we have a great dining experience. Even though prices have gone up a bit since I first started coming, the quality of the food has never changed, so it's still completely worth it to me. I almost always order the spicy pork BBQ combo, which comes with spicy pork and a soontofu. I like switching up the soontofu flavors each visit, and this time I got the kimchi pork with medium spice. Everything was delicious as always, comforting, flavorful, and super satisfying. The banchan really deserves a mention too -- the side dishes are such a great addition to the meal that sometimes I feel like I could make a whole meal out of just those alone. The service here is consistently great, and the food usually comes out pretty quickly. It's easy to wave down a server if you want more side dishes or need anything else, and I also appreciate that they leave a pitcher of water at the table so you don't constantly need refills. The restaurant ambiance itself is simple, but the food is really what makes this place shine. One tip: come during lunch if you can since they offer the same great combos for a lower price. Overall, this is a spot I'll always keep coming back to.
A lot of people in South By a claim this is their favorite Korean tofu spot and honestly it was very underwhelming. Upon entering the restaurant I noticed that it's a little outdated, but nevertheless don't judge a book by its cover. The food was on the bland side and didn't remind me of your usual Korean food. The banchan variety was nice, but again it wasn't seasoned properly. I did really like the flat fish and thought that was unique seeing that on the menu. I always see mackerel at other restaurants, but never flat fish.
Amazing banchan! Love their fried tofu side dish that you don't really get at other tofu houses. Their other side dishes were great like cucumber, bean sprout, japchae. All crispy and refreshing to pair with the soup. Came with purple rice which is healthier compared to white rice This seems like a local spot and lots of Koreans hangout in this plaza. Got the Galbi tofu soup combo and the combination tofu soup. Would come again since I work close to here
Really wanted to like this place but ultimately can only give it a 3/5. I ordered the short rib combo which came with the spicy seafood tofu soup, rice and banchan. The short rib barely had any meat and there were very little pieces given. The pieces were also over cooked, making it difficult to consume. On a positive note, the spicy seafood tofu soup and banchan were delicious. All this for $40 + tip is not worth imo, not even for late night munchies. Service was not the best. There was only one lady working but she wasn't really attentive and kept conversing with her friends. We waited a while for our card to be returned to us.
We come here once awhile, we ordered the grilled fish combo and beef combo to go. The grilled fish was a little salty this time, service was fast, didn't have to wait long!
I appreciate that they bring the same quality food for years. It just costs a lot more now for the same food with smaller portion. It is not their fault, but it's a fact.
Came here for a late night meal (9pm) and surprisingly it filled up pretty fast after we got here. I got the bbq beef combo with beef tofu soup and my bf got the galbitang. The tofu soup was pretty good. It's not overwhelming with msg. The spicy level could use some work though. Compared to BCD's spice, it ain't really much. It was actually a bit bland. The galbitang was SOOOOO good like suspiciously SOO GOOOD im suspecting there's a lot of msg in it. Either way it's still really good. The bbq beef was ok.. maybe I should've gotten the galbi instead. I don't really like the layout of this restaurant because the area sat is almost isolated from the rest of the restaurant it feels like you're sitting in storage.
What a gem of a place! I love tofu stews it's one of my favorite comfort foods and I'm so glad I finally got a chance to come to Tofu Village. The restaurant is spacious but not chain restaurant big so when you walk in you're greeted immediately and sat down. The service is quick but not pushy. Now, onto the food! The food is glorious :) Before your meal comes out one of the servers will bring out the banchans (noodles, radish, cucumbers, kimchi, fishcakes, potato salad, bean sprouts) so many flavors and textures it was awesome. To start, we got the seafood pancake to start. OMG, so good. The edges were perfectly crispy with the middle cooked well. I got the mushroom tofu and it comes with hot pot rice. My friend got the dumpling tofu. Our entire experience was so positive.I'm already looking forward to coming back!
Affordable and delicious. Every time I visit, it's always one woman running the place on her own. She takes orders, serves food, and clears tables--all by herself--yet everything comes out quickly, and she still manages to pay attention to every table. It makes the whole place feel really comfortable. They're open late, and there are quite a few solo diners, so it's easy to walk in without feeling awkward. We walked in without initially planning to go here, but were pleasantly surprised by the generous banchan selection, friendly service, and solid menu options. Definitely an unassuming (but yummy) spot and the windows are shaded at night so it was hard to tell if the restaurant was closed or open. We were craving hot stone bibimbap and it hit the spot! They provide little bottles of gochujang and sesame oil to add to your liking. The galbitang was very flavorful and rich, pairing perfectly with the purple rice. Easy and free parking in the plaza. Would definitely come back.
As a Korean I can confirm that Tofu Village serves authentic spicy tofu soup, side dishes, & kalbi. It's about 15 min for the LAX airport (without traffic) and open till 1:00am friday-sunday. My family was starving after our flight and happened to find this place bc it was open till late. The tofu soup is very rich in flavor and full of meat/seafood. The side dishes are also very yummy. There wasn't a single side dish we didn't love. Lastly the kalbi was so tender and well seasoned. They season their kalbi without sugar! They are known for using korean pears and plum extract to make their Kalbi seasoning. I highly recommend getting the kalbi combo so you can taste this well cooked and seasoned kalbi. Overall, if you're looking for a nice korean food spot to eat late at night with kind Korean ajumma servers I highly recommend this place!

This is a small, family-owned Korean tofu house serving a variety of soondubu soup, protein combos, and bibimbap. Our group ordered a little bit of everything. Two of us went with the galbi combo, another friend ordered the bibimbap, and I chose the soondubu with chicken. The banchan arrived almost immediately after we ordered and included japchae, bean sprouts, kimchi, cucumbers, fish cake, and a few other small sides. While the kimchi and fish cake were enjoyable, I found the cucumbers and japchae to be a bit underwhelming. The meal also came with purple rice, but it seemed like there wasn't enough black rice mixed in to give it that signature color. The chicken in my soondubu was tender, and I especially enjoyed the pan fried tofu side dish as one of the banchan. Service was a little mixed. One of the waitresses was warm and friendly, while the other seemed less welcoming. They do offer value lunch combo Monday through Friday, but since we visited on a Sunday, the combo was around $30, which felt a bit pricey for what we received. Overall, I'd give it 3.5 stars. The food was good, but a few of the side dishes and the weekend pricing kept it from being a standout. read more

A solid experience here at Tofu Village. A small mom and pops Korean tofu restaurant, this restaurant features great classics such as spicy tofu stew, galgi ribs, bulgogi beef, and spicy pork. I thought the quality were certainly comparable to larger chains such as BCD. Would go and support this lovely small restaurant in the heart of Gardena! read more
In my book, soup season is all year long and Soondubu/sundubu is one of my favorites. I recently discovered Tofu Village after coming here with some friends and it's now my go-to spot for soondubu. Tofu Village is located in a small strip mall with tons of parking. There's parking in front and a huge lot in the back. The restaurant is on the smaller side and the servers are friendly and check in on you often. You are offered tea or water as you sit and there is a nice variety of banchan (side dishes). I love the banchan here as it's mainly savory. The last few times I had Korean food, the majority of the banchan was on the sweet side which I just do not enjoy. I usually get the combo of soondubu and purple rice. The rice comes in a clay pot so it's piping hot when you get it. The presentation and the flavor is all very comforting and delicious. Another bonus of coming to this strip mall is that there's a bakery a few doors down so you can get a pastry for tomorrow or dessert! read more
Although I'm very used to eating at a lot of Korean Tofu places - and I love doing so particularly during chilly evening weather - Tofu Village distinguishes itself from many other Korean Tofu restaurants I have been to by offering a great variety of banchan, a really great broth in their soups, and great service from its friendly owners. I ended up getting the mushroom tofu soup, which was deliciously cozy and by itself, just right with the savoriness level. I also love how purple rice is the default option here. But the real highlight here for me was the banchan which included not so common small dishes such as lightly fried tofu and spicy marinated seaweed. Service here is as I specified earlier...great. The folks here were constantly checking up on us and provided to this place, a homely vibe. If you're in the area and hankering for something warm and filling, this is the place to go! read more
No frills soon tofu restaurant - went with a few friends on a chilly day. They have some reasonably priced combos of soup + meat. Ended up ordering a beef soon tofu soup + galbi combo. Lady brought a good amount of banchan for us and kept the refills going - definitely looked after the group! Soup and galbi were both tasty - think it's one of the better soon tofu places around the area. I have been here before and would come back again! read more

We came here late at night on Labor Day struggling to find an open restaurant since a lot of places were closed. We were craving a hot meal after a long day out exploring. Our meal was so delicious. Our server was knowledgeable and quick with our banchan refills and meals. The crab soondoobu was refreshing and the sizzling hot. We could tell this restaurant has been around for quite a while and knew what it was doing. read more
Great spot and delicious tofu soup! I'm trying to be a little forgiving because they seemed short of staff the day we went in and it was also a full house, but service was pretty slow. It took us over 40 minutes before we were able to get our order in but they looked slammed. Water also tasted strange so we asked for their complimentary hot tea but they kept running out so she would bring us a little bit here and there. Ambiance is casual and the tables were a little dirty. Had a more homey feel to it. Food itself and the banchan spread was all very good and generous! I got their tofu soup and really enjoyed their soup base. Overall, I would only come back if it's not too busy. read more

Great service and great food. It's been a while since I've been to a Korean restaurant that serves 12 side dishes. Not only many but they were all tasty. No other food photos because we were too busy eating. Definitely a place to visit. read more
I wasn't a fan of their tofu soup because it was quite bland but their galbi here is pretty good. I definitely came with high expectations because their name is Tofu Village and I thought their tofu would be really good, but I was wrong. The tofu soup had no flavor and simply tasted like watered down broth. There was no hint of spice, even though it was a mild, but I did appreciate that it came with purple rice in a hot stone bowl. I did enjoy their galbi tang and galbi short ribs though. The galbi tang was a very large portion of glass noodles, flavorful broth, and tender short ribs. The galbi was nicely charcoaled and very tasty, although a bit difficult to chew from the tendons. They did have a lot of sides which I appreciated. The workers were very friendly and attentive and the restaurant had comfy, mom and pop vibes. The tofu and galbi combo was quite pricey at about $30 and the galbi tang was about $18 but they do have lunch specials, which is cheaper. Overall, I would get their galbi and would not recommend coming here for tofu soup even though their name is Tofu Village, but it was a comforting meal. read more

Hot stone soups and rice are highly recommended! Has the taste of a home cooked meal with all the combination options and variety on the menu! The BBQ ribs were tender and flavorful! You can choose the rice or soup combo and all the sides are delicious too! Staff is friendly and attentive! We got more kimchi and spicy cucumber to go with that yummy purple rice. There was no line, and they can accommodate for groups too; plenty of free parking and they don't charge extra for boxes to go (which you may need because the portions are generous). The prices are affordable and the quality of the food is excellent! They're baseball fans so you can probably catch the games there too! read more
Definitely hole in the wall type of establishment with classic Korean comfort foods. I've yet to try their sundubu jjigae, but I love their spicy and regular beef stews! The server is efficient and pleasant, and consistently checks in on you. Highly recommend! read more

I am a Villager of Tofu Village! My partner's and my go to soontofu spot. Waitresses are so kind and food comes out relatively quickly. I looove how much banchan they provide! I recommend the soontofu with dumplings, and my partner's go to is the soontofu with beef. I think their Yelp hours say they close at 9:30, but I think it's closer to 8:30/9. Parking lot available! read more
