This has to be one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had in my life. It was that bad. This place needs to be shut down . If I was the owner I would be embarrassed . After a long day me and my g/f wanted a nice sit down restaurant . We arrived here at 8:00 pm . We were told that it would be about a 20 minute wait for outside seating. No big deal to us so we agreed to wait. We went to the bar to grab drinks and totally forgot no alcohol served on Sunday's ( oops our fault). We then went to the back porch area and waited patiently . Upon our buzzer going off we were led to our seats . When we sat down our waitress quickly came to our table and we were wanting to order two sodas. She didn't welcome us, didn't tell us about what is recommended and quickly stated " you need to hurry up and order now, we are running out of food." Well we hadn't even looked at the menu, so I felt somewhat uncomfortable. I emphasized that and asked for our drinks as we looked at the menu feeling pressured to order right away . After decided what me and my gf wanted we began to order as she wrote our order down . As we were ordering, everything we asked for was out. No baked potatoes, no black eyed pees, no vegetables. They were out of everything . Kind of frustrating we settled on fries and Mac and cheese as sides . After ordering I noticed all the customers around us had bread, so being starving I asked if we could order corn nuggets that could be purchased as an extra side to come out right before our meal and some bread like everyone else. The waitress then tell us we are out of bread. Growing more frustrated I asked for our corn nuggets. She then went to put the order in . Well dinner came , but no order of corn nuggets as appetizer came prior . She apologized but I was so lost for hope for this place I was loosing my ability to care.... I then witnessed a table who I observed eating bread get another basket of bread , so the thought of telling a lie that they were " out of bread made me even more upset." Our food we ordered was a steak and a pecan crusted chicken . The chicken was pretty good, but the steak was over cooked ( I ordered medium and it was served well done). The waitress never came to check on us to see how everything was. Our drinks were empty, but never were refilled . About half way through our meal the entire staff was rushing us out by sweeping under our feet while eating and being loud and making it clear they wanted us gone. When the bill came the waitress noted we never got our corn nuggets and was " sorry" but it was still on the bill. Dishonest on wait time, out of everything not explained to us after sitting down after a long wait, charged for items we never got and lied to about being out of bread when baskets were coming to tables after we asked . This cost us almost 80 dollars after ordering a dessert to go . No thanks, save your money . This place scammed us!!!! read more

Fantastic outdoor dining area. You can hear the river rushing by while you dine. Trout is good and there are different preparation styles on the menus. The sides and other entrees are average. Customer service was good. Overall the best experience here from a foodie perspective is sipping on a nice bottle of wine, eating trout, and listening to the river. read more

My boyfriend and I were visiting from Atlanta a few days ago and decided to stop in Toccoa Riverside restaurant because we though it would be nice to sit near the river and have some dinner before we left. We were sorely disappointed and quite frankly left pretty ticked off. The girl that sat us asked if inside was okay, and we politely asked if the patio was available. Her response was a very short No, nothing else and directed us to a table inside. I looked on the patio and 3 tables were empty but dirty and needed to be cleaned. Not even 2 minutes after being seated inside, all those tables were cleaned off and immediately people were being sat at said tables on the patio...that we had asked to sit on 2 minutes prior. We would have waited for a table, but we were not asked if we wanted to wait, we just got a "No, its not available" with a bad attitude. Honestly that just kind of set the mood and basically ruined our how meal because that's why we wanted to come eat here. The food was good, but the service was extremely slow. We never once saw a manager anywhere in sight, so there was no one to talk to about any of the issues that we had. On top of that, our server heard us talking to eachother about wanting to talk to a manager and never did anything about it. Food was like all the other reviews- standard fair. It's a seafood restaurant that serves fried seafood so if that's your level of foodieness- then it's perfect. We came with some friends and was seated right away. The view was amazing with the river flowing right outside. We ordered fried calamari, fried pickles and cheese sticks. The calamari tasted old and freezer burned. It was very dry and chewy. For our dinner, the party ordered the filet, seafood fried platter, fried cat fish, roated (that's how it was spelled on the menu) duck, the angus burger, kids spaghetti, kids chicken tender and a chicken Caesar salad. Everything was as expected- fried platter was what you get if you went to a chain diner like Denny's; the filet was just seasoned with salt and pepper, the duck was horrible (overcooked, chewy ski and the orange rosemary sauce was a joke. My kids like the catfish but the batter was really salty so they ate it without the batter. The burger was good but way too pricey. Service was really good- waitress was attentive, quick and very accommodating with the kids. So much potential but they really need a new chef who uses more fresh local ingredients and better cooking skills. We certainly won't go out of our way to come here again. read more

Half of our food was cold, all of it was disgusting. No one even acknowledged that it took too long. Half of the restaurant was empty. In our party of 8, not a single person enjoyed their food. We saw a billboard featuring the Riverside Restaurant near Blue Ridge and decided to give it a try. We sat in a sparsely filled restaurant for 13 minutes before we were acknowledged. We were told she would get to us shortly. Finally we were given a menu and water. I was advised no alcohol was served on Sunday. My wife ordered the Shrimp Po. Boy and I started with the Cajun crawfish. Our waitress was very prompt and friendly once she got to us. She knew the menu items very well. Both items were very heavily breaded and over cooked! I could not tell if I was eating crawfish or a deep fried piece of breading, both tasted the same as did the shrimp! We stopped in Blue Ridge to buy some chocolate to put a pleasant taste in our mouths. The physical facility is very nice with a terrific view, it's a shame the food does not measure up. read more

If you've been living or vacationing in North Georgia you know two things guaranteed. Good food and a unique spot to eat are far and few in between. This restaurant is not only on the outskirts of blueridge in the country. The food is delicious and it's on the river. Unique setting, awesome bar and hard working staff. Just more highlights of this beautiful location. My favorite meal is the smoked trout, mashed potatoes and corn nuggets. The burger is delicious as well. I had the rib eye and it was perfectly cooked and so tender I practically didn't need to chew it. The crab stuffed mushrooms are fantastic. Carrot cake? Ridiculously good. Brownies and ice cream? Fantastic. All bad reviews are worth ignoring. Snobby yelpers complaining because there delusional pampering wasn't fulfilled. Good riddance!!!!! Thanks Owner and staff. The view is not worth it because chances you won't even get one. The owner/manager is incredibly obnoxious and rude. The food was pretty bad as well, but the wait staff were incredible. Decent food. Unfortunately the service was not only bad but actually resulted in a shocking altercation. Ive never experienced anything like it. The trout was decent and the succatash was very good, but one person in our party received a steak that was way overcooked. When we tried to send it back our server actually argued with us -- "Im not sure the kitchen will redo it, i will have to show them." WHAT?! We were never able to speak to a manager and they rudely refused to take the well done steak off the check. The place is beautiful, however, the owner is worst kind of human being. Our steaks arrived at the table and where over cooked. (Three medium well steaks that should be Rare and 2 medium rare). The plates came back to the table and we were told the owner and the cook disagreed with us. My brother is a professional chef of 23 years and attempted to show them they were burn cooked over. The owner became almost crazed and told him "you people come down here in June and July think you know food". My brother ate his steak, I asked for the salmon as a replacement, and my wife decided not to eat (she was shaken by this guy). In almost comical fashion my salmon came to the table RAW. I went to talk to the manager and he was so disrespectful to my wife and mother that I lost my temper. I can't express in words how bad of a human this guy is. If you don't believe me, I recommend trying to send back something at this restaurant because I'm guessing this is a habit for this guy. Please do not support this type of restaurant... 2 hours ago This was the worst dining experience I have ever had. We went with kids and grandkids for dinner last night. When we arrived, they said it was a 25 minute wait, which wasn't bad. I went over to the bar side and asked for a glass of wine. The bartender said due to Covid, the owner would not let her serve anything until we were seated. That made no sense. After we were seated, we waited at least 10 minutes before anyone came to the table. The server was busy and seemed bothered. She took the grandkids order, our appetizer order and drink order. That all came out fairly quickly. The grandkids had fish and it was pretty good. The appetizer was Calamari and it was greasy and chewy. We did not complain. The "bus boy" whom we found out later was the owner/manager came over and started taking appetizer and kids plates off the table and we weren't' even finished yet! He asked us if we wanted dessert and we told him we had not even received our main courses yet. This is when it started to get really bad. We ordered our dinner, 2 steaks, the pecan trout and the fried shrimp. After 50 minutes, we asked the server how much longer the food would be. She said 10 minutes. We said we've already waited 50 minutes, so we need to get it boxed up. She said rudely, "we're kinda busy here tonight". My son-in-law took one of the grandkids to the bathroom and while he was gone, the food arrived. My son-in-law came back a minute later. His food was ice cold and the fried shrimp dish was also cold and it was greasy and overly fried. Both steaks were good. We complained to the server that the food was cold and said we did not want the trout. She took it back to the kitchen, microwaved it and came back out with it. We only saw our server 3 times during this whole time. We told the server she was not attentive and not listening. She just shrugged us off. We asked for the manager. The owner/manager came over and would not even listen to us. We told him the food was cold and he said it was because we left the table to take one of the kids to the bathroom. So, he literally blamed our cold food on 2 twin 2 year olds! We boxed our food up and went up front to pay since the server and owner were insisting we pay for the trout. When we got up front, we found another server who gladly removed the trout from the bill. The table next to us had an issue too. They never received their food, so they just got up and left. The owner/manager needs to learn how to treat his customers. If you read other posts on here and Facebook, you will see this is a pattern for him. This place should be shut down! I'm shocked... shocked see the three star consensus review of this place!!! We passed by this restaurant on our way to hike Long Creek Falls. We planned to stop and eat here on our way back to our cabin. From the outside it's so inviting. I forgot to take pictures I wish I would have. Our server was phenomenal. She was about 35-40 and had short blond hair. She really knew the menu and made some great suggestions. We got crab cakes appetizer, I recommend this. For the main course I ended up having a salad with shrimp on it. My husband had a seafood pasta-that he still talks about ( yeah man we get it, it was good okay). Used to eat there before the fire. Really enjoyed it. Arrived with a group of riders at 12.07. Seated promptly and the server took drink and food orders. It took 20 minutes for the few appetizers to arrive and a FURTHER 30 minutes for the entrees. No the place wasn't slammed. My entree, once hot was reduced to a luke warm bed of pasta with 3 shrimp and 3 scallops. How do they hope to cook and serve 9 different entrees and deliver them at exactly the same time to one table. Come on kitchen educate your wait staff. Then it took about 10 minutes for 3 desserts to be delivered to the table. Our server had ONE table - OURS. The fixed 18% tip is enforced cause they know service is crap and we would have tipped accordingly. However I will vote with my wallet and doubt if I will return. read more

Just visited earlier today. Server was great! Food was pretty good. Would give this place a solid four stars if it weren't for the extremely rude older man (appeared to be the floor manager or something). We were sitting outside and I had my window cracked because it was extremely hot due to the burners running even though it wasn't very cold out. This horrible older man ran up and squeezed himself behind me in order to slam the window and yelled at me because the burners were on and windows cannot be opened. Due to the current pandemic this was not only rude, but also incredibly unsafe for me and my family. He could have simply asked me to close it. Instead of getting within an unsafe distance. The restaurant's location and ambiance being on the river is the highlight of this little gem in the North Ga Mountains. Sitting outside on the deck overlooking the Toccoa River is a nice way to enjoy a meal and the company you are with. I had the Broiled Trout with a baked potato, mushrooms & spinach. The dinner was $18. Being on the road with my job, I eat Lemon Pepper Rainbow Trout from the Cracker Barrel a lot. Their trout is $8.99 tastier and never dry...So TRR might be a little overzealous with their prices versus flavor and appeal BUT the dining experience was pleasurable and very little downside. My companion got the pecan crusted trout which is to be their feature menu item. I tasted and it was better than my broiled for a unique flavor. The butter was not room temp enough to "melt" as it should (figure quantity of orders was reason for this--if trout kept hot enough to melt butter, the trout would have been overcooked), and wound up sitting on the side of the plate. The dinner rolls served with Infused olive oil from the local Blue Ridge Olive Oil Co (have to ask) is a definite treat! A definite 3.5 stars and will definitely return. They told us there was no place to put 6 people on the patio, there was a table big enough for 8 and the patio was mostly empty. They put us at 2 tables. We didn't have reservations on a Saturday night, and the hostess informed us there would be a 20-30 min wait, which we were completely fine with. We were seated almost 45 minutes later in a corner behind a loud group celebrating a birthday. We promptly put in our food order (since we'd already made our selections while waiting to be seated). Over an hour later, our waitress returned to inform me that they ran out of scallops and shrimp - meaning they hadn't even started cooking our food yet! I switched my order to a simple fried chicken plate, which came out after not too long. The chicken was good, but the mashed potatoes were bland. They forgot to bring us dinner rolls until we reminded them, but even then they came with no butter. I'm sure this could be a good place once they get it together, but I am not sure if they will ever be getting a second chance from me. Our group ate there yesterday. Every meal was excellent! This restaurant is way better than 5 stars. 2people had ribs and they were grilled to tender perfection. 2 had catfish and they said it was fried to perfection. Rainbow trout also was awesome. Thank God for tourists willing to overpay for crappy food because without them this place would be out of business. The food is not fresh, some dishes look like they're using up kitchen scraps, wait staff is badly trained, dishes come out wrong because no one cares, the entrees are grossly overpriced at $20+ for lunch, the beautiful deck overlooking the river (the restaurant's best feature) isn't air conditioned in summertime so if you love 90 degrees with oppressive humidity it's the go to place for you. read more

I wish I was able to give zero stars. Ordered a steak done medium only to receive a steak that was clearly well done. I NEVER complain or send food back at restaurants but it was way too done for my liking. The waitress politely took the food back and returned after a few minutes with the same steak and said that the owner insisted that it was medium and had put it back on the will to warm it and added some type of garlic butter. I tried to eat it and not complain but it tasted worse than before. The waitress again tried to take the team back but he owner would not budge and would not do anything about the overdone steak. I told the waitress I did not want to pay for a steak that tasted terrible. The owner refused to do anything but give a 5 dollar discount. Would not recommend this place at all. This is a very generous four stars which is based on the attestations of my family members. I had to send my food back, which is really, really rare for me. Unfortunately the ribs I ordered were inedible. The silverskin was never removed so chewing through the meat was not possible and when I cut away some of the meat it was very tough. Fortunately, my server was able to get me a quick replacement of fried shrimp so that I wasn't eating by myself. The manager also stopped by to apologize for the ribs and make sure the rest of our party were satisfied. We were a party of 9 and they got 8 of 9 dishes really right. While they are one of the only restaurants in the area and I will definitely visit again when I'm in town. read more

We have travelled quite a bit, but this has to be the worst food we have ever tasted. It needs strong effort to make pasta this bad. Absolutely no salt, no sauce, it's boiled pasta with some dry trout with no flavor at all. Pecan crusted trout which they say is their speciality is really bad. If it was all about setting, ambience and service this would easily be a five-star spot. Our food, while not bad, was not five-star. First off, the house salad was really unusually good. Normally that wouldn't be noteworthy, but this salad clearly did not come from a bag, which often seems to be the case with restaurants of this ilk. I ordered the blackened mahi--nicely done if a tad dry, but definitely, positively absolutely stay away from the black-eyed peas as a side... unless you like them from a can. Big disappointment seeing as how I love me some black-eyed peas. My wife ordered flank steak, and while it was good, I don't think she'll go to sleep tonight and dream about it.
