Everything!!! I have ABSOLUTE TRUST in Dr Nakra. He is the MOST EXPERT, COMPASSIONATE & beyond EXCELLENT cosmetic surgeon I have ever used. He even contacted my DC cosmetic doc & studied pictures of me throughout my life before he came up with a treatment plan. I loved the fact and still love the fact that not only is he a physician; He is a well established professor at a prestigious medical school. TOC Eye & Face (south Austin location) can't seem to get their act together. They send texts confirming appointments that don't exist, they don't work with many insurance companies, and they make their patients wait well over an hour for their scheduled appointments with no apologies for delays. To them, expecting the patients to wait for hours seems normal and expected. They do not respect the time of their patients, unfortunately, and I would not recommend them. If a doctor doesn't respect our time, that is a big red flag that the doctor might not care for us as patients. This has been my case (Dr.Belinsky). I will not return to TOC in Austin and would not recommend them. read more

Called in to ask about a pterygium removal and was told that they can absolutely take care of that for me but needed to setup a consultation first, no problem. Showed up for the consultation filled out all insurance paperwork was asked to pay my copay before the consultation. After a short wait my name was called and I sat down for no more than 2 minutes with the Dr. and was told that they do not perform pterygium removals and that there is nothing they can do. So I guess it costs a copay to find out where you need to actually go... Please educate your staff on services that you provide so y'all don't waste people's time and money... read more

I had a very good consultation with the physician. I was told I would be contacted by the scheduler for the procedure "shortly". When I did not hear back I called 1.5 weeks after the appointment and spoke with someone who indicated that things had fallen through the cracks and I would hear back within a day. It has now been 3 weeks since my consultation and I still haven't heard from these guys. My standards are high but this is nuts! I'm now being told that because I take a baby aspirin they need medical clearance from my physician. A baby aspirin which is listed on my medications as not prescribed by a doctor nor mandatory. And, the reality they never contacted my GP even though they said they were waiting for his clearance! So on top of being in chaos..they lie! I guess they get their money from the consults -- I hope my insurance doesn't cover the cost of the consult since the whole process is fraudulent. RUN, don't walk from these guys. As many of the reviewers correctly described, TOC's front office experience is below par. They matched me to the wrong specialist so I had to pay $130 consultation fee and 3 hours of my time. I also waited for an hour past my appointment time to be seen, filled out 10+ pages of paper work cause they don't have an integrated electronic record system. When I asked why I was matched to an eye doctor when my main complaint was ENT, I was met with defensiveness and ill reasoning. In fact, read TOC's response to all the 3 stars and below reviews and find one that is not defensive. I can even type up the response to my review to save them some time - " You wanted to be seen for condition A, which the doctor we scheduled you with does not treat, but on this condition B that you just have some casual questions on, let us schedule you with that doctor. Oh, you still want to solve you MAIN COMPLAINT condition A, you would have to go through the process all over again with another doctor, and also pay us. We did what's best based on our limited knowledge of what doctor offers what types of services." My primary eye doctor scheduled an appointment with TOC for me. Several weeks went by and, one day before my appointment, I received an e-mail stating it was cancelled due to insurance issues. I called and found out the reason; it could have easily have been corrected by one simple phone call to me. Once they realized the issue, they would not give my appointment back and wanted me to wait several more weeks for a re-sked. The woman I spoke with was not rude but, she also did not care in the least that I was upset. needless to say, I won't be using TOC. read more

Dr. Anish Abrol My whole life I have struggled to breathe through my nose. I never felt like I was getting air through my nostrils. I always thought it was a deviated septum. In recent years, it became a lot worse, and I eventually became so desperate to breathe through my nose, often times only being able to breathe through my mouth, I became dependent on Afrin just to get through the day. It was just miserable. I finally went to TOC and visited with Dr. Abrol. He did a really thorough examination of the inside of my nose. He quickly determined it was not a deviated septum, but the real issue was my malformed nasal passages. I needed an overhaul in there! He was so extremely patient and kind, while he explained the real issue. He and his staff sent the preauthorization to my insurance company quicker than lightening! A few weeks later, he did extensive grafting work, and even removed a bone spur I didn't even know I had!! When the splints came out a week after surgery, I could actually breathe through my nose like a normal person, after all these years!! I can even jump on my elliptical and do an hour like it is nothing, now! I used to get out of breath immediately, and always thought it was because of my lungs! I have not had to use Afrin to breathe, since! The intricate, extensive, complex surgery he did inside my nose, is downright miraculous. I'm late submitting this review, but I wanted to let folks know how great my experience was. I had an orbital blow-out. Put simply, I punched a hole in the bone holding my eyeball. My eyeball partially dropped into the hole so I had severe double vision because my eyes were not level with each other. Dr Blaydon was just amazing. He took the time to explain everything to me prior to the surgery, and made the tiniest stitches by my eye that you can't even see 8 months later. The staff was very nice. I had a procedure scheduled, and paid my portion. The procedure was ten canceled and am still waiting on a refund. Paid on 4-10-24, procedure was scheduled for 4-19-24, now almost through May. When I call then do not give me a date when I will get a refund, or why it takes over 30 days. It took me three times to actually reach a person to schedule an apt, my doctor and her MA were both nice- did an okay job removing my mole... but the meds given to me irritated my eye so I called (got the voicemail) and it's been over two weeks with no call back. I am extremely disappointed in the rude and unprofessional service received at Austin's TOC Eye and Face. I completed a surgery consultant that went exceptionally well. I was told by Tammy I would receive a related costs estimated associated with the surgery in approximately 14 days. On day 16 nothing was heard and I called the office to follow up. I was told by the representative there was no record of my visit and she would reach out to the physician. I waited three days and nothing was heard. I called again and I was told Tammy handles that area. I was switched to Tammy's voice mail and recorded a detailed message about the purpose of my call. I am seeking information regarding the cost of eye surgery. My initial exam was 2 July 2024. I called again for a third time on 12 Aug. 2024 and was told by the representative I will leave a message for Tammy. Today is 13 Aug. 2024 and no response from TOC Eye and Face. Not sure if he over promised or under delivered on my brow surgery, but the results were pretty minimal to the point where a series of other procedures were recommended, including a possible redo. I'm writing this because today I called to talk to Makali about my bill she took upon herself to debit my account and leave me with insufficient funds. I never ever agreed to her auto pay she said that I did. I live paycheck to paycheck. I was planning on making my first payment tomorrow on payday. I've never been treated so rude before and then she tells me that's just the way it is and hung up on me. Dr. Emily Barrett is that rare combination of great personality and exceptional surgical skills that you almost never find in a physician much less a surgeon. Dr. Barrett did my eyelids, a cheek lift, lower face lift and neck lift. These procedures were done over the space of 2 years. I am now 66 years and look a 50 if not younger. Very pleased with the results and the down time was minimal considering. The staff was friendly but I arrived for my first appointment and was asked to fill out the exact paperwork I had filled out online. Then I sat and waited and was told they had a problem with my insurance, I explained why it might appear that there was a problem but I had already fixed it and even logged on and verified everything was active and up to date. Instead of calling and verifying themselves, they wanted me to call and handle it...even though there wasn't a problem. They wanted me to pay cash for the appointment and then made me reschedule. Having done this line of work, it would have been courteous to have verified before I arrived. Or even to have called my insurance themselves to verify instead of making me feel miserable. I had to drive 30 minutes to the office with a toddler and then was turned away even though I had active insurance and they were just unwilling to actually verify through my insurance. So while I may not be able to give a review of the doctors, I can say that the way I was handled today would not make me want to find out. read more

I went to see Mr. Blaydon. He took 45 wonderful minutes to tell me what I need, and he answered all my questions. When I finished my appointment I was so happy and eager to do what he told me to do. I was ready to scheduled my s, but his assistant Ms. Tammie Gordon. Called me for three seconds to tell me that the cost of the surgery was 9.500 + the anesthesia. "I said, "perfect, and she told me that after she hang up, she was going to sent me and email with information about surgery and payments. Many years later update.... I stand by everything written in 2015. Selecting Dr. Tanuj Nakra to perform my rhinoplasty was one of the worst decisions I have ever made. After years of heartache I have learned to live with what I, and plastic surgeons with whom I have consulted, believe to be disfigurement. Because of the permanent filler he injected me with, not much can be done. I hope others will use me as a cautionary tale. In hind site things I believe to be extremely important are: 1. Always select the most qualified and experienced plastic surgeon you can find. I do not believe Dr. Nakra was as experienced as he let me believe. And, I do believe he practiced on me. 2. Always work with a plastic surgeon who uses imaging software. You may not end up looking exactly like the picture, but at least you will know you and the surgeon are on the same page. At the time of my procedure Dr. Nakra did not use this software; he drew on piece of paper that he kept. We definitely had different ideas of what would happen. The poor results are proof. 3. Never let anyone inject your nose you with permanent filler. The surgeons I have spoken with since then all indicate it is not safe. It also reduces the chances of actually fixing the damage done via additional surgery. Dr. Nakra injected my nose with permanent filler. He indicated he could balance my nose using this method. It was not helpful and actually caused more problems. 4. If your initIal rhinoplasty does not go well, find an experienced plastic surgeon for your revision. I did not and I allowed Dr. Nakra to perform another procedure. It was not helpful and there was no improvement. 5. Finally, know that if the very final result of your rhinoplasty is bad life does go on, happiness comes back and a great pair of large eye glasses does wonders. Also know that in my opinion, most surgeons will not take responsibility for their poor work. Dr. Nakra did not. So it is the client's/patient's responsibility to do the upfront work and find a qualified surgeon. Hopefully this will reduce the chances of a bad outcome. read more

To start, I love absolutely all the people that work here, they have been nothing but informative and have tried to be helpful, I can tell they're a very genuine group. But to be honest.. I'm very, very frustrated. I understand that "some people are more susceptible" when it comes to styes, however I've received 2 procedures for stye removal (multiple chalazion) on the top of my right eye. One in June & one about three weeks ago. I asked my doctor straight up if I'm expected to come here in another three months for this same procedure- she assured me no. The day AFTER surgery I developed a stye on the bottom lid of the opposite eye, my left. This was 100% cross-contamination along with 100% zero accountability. I called continuously for two days requesting some sort of antibiotic cream or pill or ANYTHING because "warm compresses" have done absolutely nothing for me. They responded that they can't- because it is not an infection and have only apologized for my bad luck (after I very politely expressed my frustrations). It's now been about a month, my eyes are lop-sided. Two big styes- one of the top right, the other bottom left. I canNOT pay for another procedure, not even a consultation. I'm but a broke college graduate. I'm now considering seeing a dermatologist, I'm tired of being told that there's nothing else to be done by this practice and I've wasted about $500 in procedures and "check ups" read more

I'm pretty torn about writing this review because my son's experience with TOC was outstanding but my own experience is a terrible one. It almost warrant 2 separate reviews but I'm going to put it all here so you can read it. My son was seeing Dr. Alison Huggins, and once again she is OUTSTANDING. Dr.Huggins's scheduler, Hannah was sweet and she kept me in the loop in every process during my son's eyelid surgery. She got authorization from the insurance company within 48 hours and everything went well. They definitely earn 5 stars from me. Now, the 3 stars solely based on MY own experience. In late September I had an appointment with Dr. Durairaj for my own eyelid issue. By the way I made an appt with Dr. Huggins but she had a last minute surgery hence they changed my appt with Dr. Durairaj. The consultation with Dr. Durairaj was quick, probably 5 minutes at the most and based on that, it was decided that my chalazion/stye will be drained. So look, I had multiple of these removed in the past so I know the drill. Dr. Durairaj said the next step is to get authorization from my Insurance. I did tell him that my own son just had this done with Dr. Huggins few months earlier and I know from my insurance (the same insurance that was used back in March) that no authorization is required for minor procedure like this. He insisted that they need to ask so that I don't get an unexpected bill in the mail so I said fine. Anyway I still think Dr. Durairaj is okay, he's just following protocol. I am however not a fan of his scheduler, Shareena (I hope I spell this right..but whatever). I didn't hear from her until the following week 10/2, just to tell me that they "thought" I had my procedure during the first visit. I told her, umm no...I thought he said you need to file for authorization. She apologized then proceed to tell me that she has forwarded the request to my insurance company and they should hear back in a few days. Until then, she will not be able to schedule anything with me. I followed up 10/8 and since she's not in the office on Mondays, they only said, we are waiting for the insurance company so we have no update for you. During this time I called my insurance company and found out that they have responded to TOC on 10/4 to tell them that NO AUTHORIZATION required just like I told the doctor earlier. At the very same day I decided that I will not be contacting Shareena again. I'm not going to tell her how to do her job because it's not my problem. She made TOC looks bad and I know it's far from the truth because I did deal with a different scheduler on behalf of my son and it was stellar. Today, 10/16--I still don't have my procedure scheduled, just so you know. I like TOC and if I have to go there I will make sure that I don't deal with her, if it means that I have to pick a different doctor then so be it. read more

Dr. Nakra was supposed to do my eyelid surgery in January 2021. However, after I signed the consent form showing Dr. Nakra as my surgeon, and after I was drugged on Xanax & Hydrocodone, his trainee's name was added to the consent form without my knowledge or consent. She did surgery on my left eyebrow and right eye, and he did the reverse. The result was a total failure. My eyelids still droop below the top of my pupils just like they did, my eyebrows were not raised and my bags are essentially unchanged. The surgery was a total failure, and I will have to repeat it. However, my brows cannot be raised now because almost all of the loose skin was removed. If my brows are raised now, I will not be able to shut my eyes. Beware of Dr. Nakra. read more

Not only did I have an office visit charge of $100, paid for parking then I received an additional $84 invoice in the mail. $184 for a consultation visit is outrageous! They should tell you at the desk or when making an appointment how much the consultation fee is. I even called the billing dept. and they would not do anything. Very disappointed!! read more

The TOC Med Spa is fantastic! Hands down the best in Austin. I have regularly been seen by Jennifer and Andrea, both RNs for filler and Botox injections. They do amazing work and have helped keep me looking younger than my actual age. Both Jennifer and Andrea are facial artists when it comes to fillers and botox. They know exactly where to inject and how much is needed to reduce or eliminate wrinkles. They're patient and gentle and know exactly what they're doing. During a routine session with Andrea, she pointed out a potential skin issue that needed to be addressed immediately by a dermatologist. It's quite possible she saved my life. After years of outdoor activity with minimal to no sunscreen use, I paid the price. The reception staff and office manager are all very attentive. I've never had to wait for my appointment and checking-out is a breeze. TOC also offers a wide variety of great products that are life changing. Your skin is your largest organ and they make sure you take good care of it. On a side note, TOC also does a lot of fundraising for the community. As a patient, I am on their mailing list so I often receive updates about their fundraising activities. I've also attended a couple of their events. They are a very generous group of doctors and nurses who give a lot back to the ATX/central Texas community. I recommend TOC to anyone looking for a great med spa. read more

I tried to make an appointment today with Dr. Nakra who came recommended by my eye doctor. The young man on the other end whose job is to make appointments was so rude and brisk. Nobody explained to him that if he spends all day making appointments, that does not does mean that I do the same, nor that I am a professional patient. Hell, I hardly call a doctor's office once a year, and I am not use to the barrage of questions I got bombarded with. Every time I was slow in giving him the piece of information he just requested, he would add; "we can't make the appointment today unless you provide.....". He seemed more eager to end the call instead of making the appointment. - I am writing an update, 3 days after my first post. I got a call from the office manager next day. she promised to take appropriate steps to remedy any deficiencies. She listened and seemed eager to invoke changes for the better. read more

Dr. Blaydon has performed two different procedures on me. A couple of months ago Dr. Blaydon corrected my droopy eye lids. The procedure required additional attention to correct and even out the surrounding areas aound the eyes. We are very pleased with the results. Most rececently Dr. Blaydon had to repair an area above an eye due to a dermatologist procedure. This included taking a small graft from behind an ear. Again we are very happy with the results. He and his staff are very professional. I recommend him and his staff at both locations. read more

I was at my regular dermatologist's office for a mole removal, but my dermatologist said he wasn't comfortable removing it himself but that he could call and make a last minute referral appointment to a surgeon at TOC Eye and Face to get it removed right away that SAME day. I was even told to quickly hurry & leave immediately from my dermatologist's to TOC's office so I could get it removed. When i arrived at TOC office, I reconfirmed with the TOC staff that I was here to get the mole removed that day, and they said yes, they already knew about my mole removal because my dermatologist had just called them earlier. I also made it very clear that the reason why I was here was to get it removed that SAME day. And that if that's not possible, then I would leave. And this was the whole point of the reason why my dermatologist made the last minute referral appointment for me. However, after a very long wait, when I finally saw the TOC surgeon, he did NOTHING, but just take a couple minutes to tell me that I would need to come back MULTIPLE more times before he would decide whether to remove it or not. They STILL billed me the FULL amount even though the surgeon did nothing. Then the surgeon ran off to his next appointment. I cannot say enough thank you to Dr. Sean Blaydon. I had ptosis on one eye since I was born. I was struggled to get a surgery all my life because a lot doctors said it is very risky to do such a surgery, the outcome could be not so good. I am in 30s now. This year, I finally decided to get this fixed. I went to TOC and found Dr. Blaydon. I asked a lot questions about the outcome, side effects, et al. which showed I was so worried. Dr. Blaydon addressed all my questions. He is so professional. He explained the whole procedure, why he picked this procedure, what the outcome would be (which is definitely better than without surgery). After the consultation, I felt much more comfortable. The surgery turned out to be quick. It was about 30 minutes. I felt zero pain because I was under anesthesia. The first day at home was most difficult. The next day, I removed the eye patch, wow, I just saw very few bruise, and my eye was much larger than before. Now, 1 month passed, all bruise is gone and my eye looks very natural. It is not exactly the same as my other eye, but they look very similar. This is what I expect for, and my family is very happy about the outcome as well. The staffs and nurses are also very nice and polite. I enjoyed every visit so far. I highly recommend this place to whom seeking for eye surgery. read more

I visited TOC (Dr. Blaydon) with a referral from my eye doctor as my "droopy" eyelids were beginning to affect my vision. I was able to secure an appointment fairly quickly and Dr. Blaydon recommended a blepharoplasty procedure for both eyes. He took pictures and explained the entire process for submitting to insurance, and what my options were if insurance did not approve the procedure. Insurance approved and I had my procedure performed in February. The procedure was exactly as Dr. Blaydon described and my experience during the entire process was excellent. The staff were all very professional and I received 2 follow up calls post-surgery. Note: The procedure itself is not that painful, but the healing process is. Expect redness, tenderness, swelling, bruising, etc. Don't think you can have this surgery and return to work right away. Plan on taking at least a few days off. Ask a lot of questions if you have concerns about your appearance during the healing process. It's now been 7 weeks and I am very pleased with how my eyes are healing. The only reason I did not give TOC 5 stars was because of the nurse/consultant they had me talk to who wanted to sell me stuff from their medical spa (Toccare) which is also owned by the physicians. The nurse recommended a kit to speed healing (at a cost of over $100). But, Dr. Blaydon came in after and explained the facts/myths about certain products. After learning about the efficacy of silicone for healing scars and keloids, I did purchase one product which has been very effective in speeding up the healing process (and costs less than $25). read more

For a simple skin tag removal, he first made me wait for an hour for him although I had an appointment, and then did nothing other than noting down the location of the three skin tags in the computer! So far I have only had a consult with Dr. Nakra but he was patient, thoughtful, and thorough. Since the consult, I have been in contact with his nurse Angelina several times and she is just wonderful.
