I swear this business changes staff, menus, and general feeling more than any other place I know. At the moment it is going for a mediterranean feel, with tapas and all that.
I am a massive fan of tapas dining, it is probably my favourite, but only if the restaurant pulls it of, and I don't think Toby's does. At least not now.
The menu is awkwardly phrased and they have too many items on it in my opinion. The staff are still all over the show, as they have been for some time, I think it is becouse they change all the time, with staff coming and going (I've had friends who have worked here).
The food itself isn't horrible, but it is not the greatest either. Portions are okay, but for tapas I think there needs to be more flavour in all of it.
I also think it is awkward with the bar next door, I never really understood it, becouse it feels like there is a random pub attached to this nice little space. Becouse it is a nice little space, with neat furniture, dated but okay interiors, and surrounding decking. It totally has potential, but I think this place is fading, fast. read more
