    Confit salmon with kale

Though I am a local, this was the first chance at trying Deco Eatery, the first real, 'fine dining' restaurant in the village. Though I had heard mixed reviews of the place I was excited to try this Turkish inspired eatery that has been established below the iconic Lopdell House. First impression, the place was LOUD. It was busy and full of people and the acoustics did not do the restaurant any favors. We were at a large table, but it was difficult to even have a conversation with the person opposite us. Secondly, I have to agree with previous reviewers that commented on the cheap looking menus. Certainly did not fit with the decor or the very well presented and rather pricey food. However with the bad comes the good. Our server was friendly and helpful, the Turkish accents on water jugs, tea pots and cushions were tasteful and ecclectic (in a good way) and most importantly, the food was delicious. My party selected from a number of mains on the menu with the lamb salad and salmon were stand out favourites. I had the stuffed capsicum with lamb, and though I wasn't sure about the rather strong cinnamon flavor as part of the seasoning, it grew me and I enjoyed it overall. They also had a very good wine list and cocktail list to chose from, another bonus. All in all, I can see why this latest Titirangi restaurant is always so busy during the weekend, and it is certainly somewhere I would consider coming back to. The noise was a bit of a problem, and so likely would not return with a large party again, but am interested to try more of the dishes on their menu, including the lamb rack and the beef cheeks. Defiantly a must try.

My family and I ate at Deco after my graduation on Monday. It was my first time eating at Deco, even though I'm a local, and I was pleasantly surprised. We were a big group and ordered a big table in the back of the beautifully decorated restaurant. Even though it was a Monday night in Titirangi, the restaurant was full and loud. We had to raise our voices to be heard which was OK as we were a jovial bunch, but I could see how this could become tiresome. The service was brilliant from the start. The staff were attentive (placing my bouquet into a pitcher of water for me), friendly and seemed genuinely interested in my graduation, which was such a special touch. For starters we ordered the scallops (divine), dips with bread to share (again, sublime) and mushrooms, which we devoured hungrily. We took more time with our mains and weren't disappointed. The portions were large, the food delicious and pretty much faultless. I had the fish of the day which was cooked to perfection and so very tender. The prices were a bit dear, but they only added to the luxury of Deco. My family and I had a lovely celebration and we'll definitely be back!

Deco was on my list of places to visit. It was nothing less than spectacular but what's more it has actually surprised me! The foundations of Deco's food are based on Mediterranean ingredients and cooking and that's my favourite! We are talking hummus, tzajiki, babaganush, olives, warm Turkish bread and pure olive oil! Pardon spelling. The wine was extremely aromatic and tasty. The mezzo dish was divine and served on the biggest wooden board I have ever seen in the restaurant, to the point we moved tables because of the size of my dish haha!!! Prices are like at any good restaurant nowadays whilst meals are slightly bigger than average tiny portions you get served in town. Seating spaces are nicely spread out, lovely private tables by the windows are just gorgeous!!! Serving personnel is friendly and not in your face. Kitchen set up is something I couldn't take my eyes off. Tried Tiramisu, fluffy scrumptious coffee based pudding served in a beautiful old fashioned jar was a delight and big enough to share! Deco is the place I can't wait to go back, I am desperate to try calamari as I have heard those are exceptional!

It's really chic and stands out from the rest of the run down shops. We came here after going out to dinner at the nearby 'Ragu' and the place was raging! I guess there's not much else around Point Chev so the locals are loving it. And we loved it too! It had such a great atmosphere, really made you want to stay out all night haha. Inside it's a dark but not gloomy environment. There's a huge bar and a few seats dotted around the outside. I love that they have lots of quirky décor around and lots of things to look at. They even serve cocktails in metal milk bottles! How awesome is that.

Having only opened in the last 6 months or so, Montage is slowly becoming a bit of a local hot spot. Deep red velvet chairs, ornate iron gates, dim lighting - the atmosphere of Montage is quite intimate and while it could be a bit threatening it is the exact opposite. In the afternoon sun it's the perfect place to sit outside and enjoy a cold drink with friends, or alternately enjoy a few shots and vodka and limes after dark. The staff are funny and friendly and make you feel right at home. When my boyfriend and I first went there, despite being inebriated to begin with, the staff were good sports and put up with our jokes and terrible dancing and even helped call us a cab. Though not a great venue if you're in the mood to dance as it's quite small, Montage is an ideal place to meet friends for a few drinks before heading to town.

Jeremy, our bartender, hailed from Manchester, England, and is an all-world server. Everything he made for us was fantastic. He knows his liquors and mixers, and for a tiny bar, Mea Culpa has a good selection of both. Especially the second-to-top shelf liquors. We ended up having four cocktails and a beer (between two of us) and came away impressed with the lot. My recollection of the night is fuzzy, even more so a month later, but we still do remember enjoying every cocktail. Not the place i would suggest for microbrews, a long row of taps, or a wine bible, but great for cocktails. Highly recommend dropping by if you're in Ponsonby. Tell Jeremy (or whomever is on) your favorite liquor, and let him/her whip something up for you.

Unfortunately I do not remember what was in it, as I was wined out from earlier in the day & I wasn't feeling the atmosphere here, so I was ready to scoot ASAP.
