I was in Auckland on a trip for my friend's wedding. I decided to go out for brunch before a busy day and Chuffed stood out to me. When I got there, I was seated immediately. The ambiance was vibey and loved that I was sitting outside, but still covered from the sun. The waiters were so nice and were able to answer any questions I had. I ordered an iced hazelnut oatmilk latte and a fried chicken benedict and they were delicious! The latte was the perfect drink to wake me up for a busy day ahead! They definitely do eggs benedict different but it was still so tasty. Instead of the usual english muffin, they used an herb rostis, which is a crispy hash brown round. The fried chicken was juicy and crispy. The herb rostis was also crispy and paired well with the creamy poached eggs! Came here for breakfast on a Monday morning and was not disappointed. We were able to be seated immediately in their gorgeous patio and service was prompt and friendly. We started off with a round of different types of coffees, all of which were delicious. we ordered a pretty diverse Items menu, and everything fresh and tasty and seasoned. We left very pleased and would definitely recommend this place. Located on High Street, we almost walked right past it! I was looking for the restaurant from the street front, but its kinda tucked in. Luckily there is a sidewalk sign outside letting you know its here! The Grub. Big Breaky ($27) This is definitely a big boy! It comes with literally everything :D Two eggs, bacon, mushrooms, pork sausage, potato, smashed pumpkin on toast, roasted tomatoe, whipped feta on sourdough Eggs Benny with Mushrooms ($24) served on brioche and topped with a poached egg and smothered in hollandaise sauce and a side of kale and your choice of either bacon, salmon or mushrooms. 4.5 stars. Great little brunch place hidden in the CBD area of Auckland. I would recommend parking in the nearby parking garage to avoid the headache of looking for street parking. We got reservations but went early and were seated immediately. The servers were nice. The ambiance is very airy, fresh, and reminded me of a garden with painted birds and hanging plants. We ordered a cappuccino and a hot chocolate, which were both works of art to look at and tasty to drink. I also ordered a Cold Toddie, a refreshing juice of apple, lemon, honey and lots of ginger! Since it had a lot of ginger, I loved it. If you're not a fan of ginger, I would avoid this. For food, we ordered the Bowl of Mushroom, the Chuffed Bowl and the French Toast. The Bowl of Mushroom was a mushroom explosion in my plate and mouth, which I loved because I'm obsessed with mushrooms. So, if you're not a fan of mushrooms, this is not the plate to go with. The mushrooms are sauted with garlic and thyme, there is a mushroom paste on the side, some additional caramelized onions, goat cheese, raisins, crispy buckwheat with chimichurri and eggs on a sourdough bread. If there was anything missing, it was a little spicy kick, but that's just me. The Chuffed Bowl included quinoa with a tahini dressing, avocado, radish, buckwheat, broccoli, lettuce and an egg. It would've been nice to have the broccoli and lettuce sauteed with some garlic and oil so that they didn't taste so raw as compared to the rest of the bowl. But, otherwise, it was really good. The French Toast was a marvelous piece of food art. The bread was brioche and a "pillow" sized piece that had been soaked overnight, with a citrus mascarpone, apple, ginger, fruit compote, ginger-lemon honey and with candied walnuts and freeze dried berries. While I'm not a fan of French toast, I tasted this one and it was a rockstar. The mascarpone is the lightest I've ever had. The fruits accompanying the toast were delicious. My friend licked every last speck of the dish off her plate, that is how good it was. All in all, an excellent experience eating here! Pricing is at par with good restaurants in Auckland. They also sell some interesting coffee beans. I recommend coming here for sure! read more

The revers were great, the vibe was very relaxed and the outdoor patio was perfect-beautiful, with a great breeze. The macchiato and lattes were perfect for our jet lagged crew. The smashed burger and the maple chicken, with truffle fries were both excellent, very flavorful and served with just the right amount of sauce. A Fantastic spot for brunch or coffee in the heart of the city. This place has delicious food and while I often get an eggs benedict at cafes I'm also a fan of the sweet crumpets here. There is more seating hidden away in the back of this place with cool street art on view and paintings of birds on the walls, but it is a popular spot and it is still fairly small so there can be a wait time before getting a table on weekends. Staff are friendly and helpful though so they're usually able to tell you how long you'll have to wait. read more

I wanted this place to live up to the hype of all the great things I heard, but was not super excited about the portion sizes and overall service. However, everything did taste fairly good. Firstly, the seating space is adorable, at the back of the cafe, hidden away nicely from the buzzing outside activities. The menu is small enough to not confuse. It was very busy for my entire visit around lunch time. I ordered the rye bread with poached eggs, and a side of bacon(costs additional $$). I opted for a flat white for coffee. I was given sparkling water throughout my visit. The service was very slow, and when the food arrived I was a little disappointed primarily by the portion size given the price of the food(maybe serve in a smaller plate so that the eyes are deceived!!). The actual taste of the food did make up for the overall price though. The coffee was also spot on in flavor. This place is a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle with tasty food, but the prices would keep me from being a regular. Would definitely stop by as a coffee regular though! read more

The atmosphere and look of this cafe is super unique and cute! Very soothing and relaxing. They have an adorable fireplace in the covered outdoor seating. Like a little secret oasis! The menu was quite expensive though...I just opted for a chicken sandwich which I wasn't sure of with the sourdough bread but actually it worked out very well for me! The waiter was nice and tried to switch the bread out for me but they couldn't for some reason, but he convinced me that it's not that bad and I agree that it wasn't. It was a really delicious sandwich actually! They also offer smoothies and other entrees...But everything struck me as expensive. Not sure if it was or if I just wasn't used to using the NZD yet. It took a while to be seated but I understood as it was brunch and graduation day. The service was nice when they came to check but I had to ask for everything, she didn't come over to check on me. I asked for a new cup because the water cup was dirty. I asked for salt and pepper and the pepper was completely empty. I asked for my mimosa that arrived after my food.. Waited for her to come around to ask for a new pepper grinder. The food would've been better but it was sooo salty. The bacon was so salty I ended up taking the pieces completely off my benedict. The potato underlay of the benedict was also super salty which I put ketchup on to try to hide the salt. A shining gem in a concrete playground! Chuffed is located down a corridor off High St (look out for the sign) away from the hustle and bustle of the CBD. The interior is small with a cool vibe but for me it's all about their covered courtyard out back. That place is like my ideal urban oasis. The wooden floors and walls are painted a soft cream and are adorned with flourishing planter boxes. One of the walls has a floor to ceiling mural of budding branches but best of all, it's blissfully quiet. As far as seating goes, there's big wicker armchairs to relax in or your traditional table and stool setup. As for the food, the menu is small but well thought-out and features some interesting options including their take on green eggs and ham, which is kind of like baked eggs but with a ragu of wild boar, lentils and smoked feta served with sourdough. Yum! On my first visit I ordered a light salad with witloof, raddichio, heirloom tomatoes and feta ($10) - simple flavours but the quality of the produce was incredible and the presentation....well, it almost looked to good to eat. Word of warning: this dish is no longer on the menu but their new salad with cauliflower and barley sounds equally as good. I'm totally chuffed (hah) to have finally made it to this nifty High Street cafe that everyone seems to be raving about! My cappuccino ($4) was really tasty, but it's the whole vibe of the place that really had it for me. The simple interior boasts bright and colourful murals, while out back, the surprisingly roomy courtyard - with cushioned seats, a roaring fireplace and tables adorned with little succulents - provides an escape from the city that is, amazingly, still in the heart of the city. I do have one word of warning, though: the courtyard roof is retractable and well, the open space and its plant furnishings probably attract a fair amount of attention from birds, so keep an eye out for bird poop before you sit... don't make the same mistake I did! I only stopped for a quick caffeinated pick-me-up so I can't comment on the food, but the menu items look worth trying. House made crumpets and a more peculiar but tempting wagyu tongue burger? Chuffed is a cute little cafe at the end of a corridor off High Street. Make sure you look out for the sign, otherwise you will miss it! I had only heard about Chuffed by reading reviews about it in magazines and on websites, and could not believe it when I found out that it is just up the road from my work! Upon entering, the bright mural on the wall amazed me - it is stunning. I was also very surprised by the courtyard out the back. It is sort of like a hidden paradise away from the hustle and bustle of High Street. There is an open fireplace, cushion seating and decorative hanging plants. From the menu, we tried the Pulled Pork Sandwich ($10) with ciabatta, house made BBQ sauce, apple, cress and pear celeriac remoulade and the Roasted Wild Mushroom Sub (also $10) with pear and Whitestone Windsor blue. Both were delicious, but the Pulled Pork Sandwich was definitely the stand out of the two. I will go back to Chuffed, because I enjoyed the vibe of the place and sitting out in the warm courtyard. Tremendous little find, tucked away on High Street - Chuffed sweeps you away from the busy CBD traffic and chaos and invites you to a quiet serene patio with sun, light and peaceful zen. Their trademark artwork that drapes the welcoming lobby and menu alike, shows the creative juices running through the place which translates down into their staff and food. Have visited Chuffed for morning breakfast and brunch a few times now and have never been disappointed. Poached eggs, with that vibrant beetroot cured salmon and the smoked feta are the perfect combination of sides for a morning breakfast. The eggs benedict will tickle your tastebuds and have you buzzing all morning - served on a delicious bagel with a creamy hollandaise. The chicken sandwich perhaps had a few too many flavours going on (chicken, brie cranberry - and then oddly tomato and rocket) so I would recommend the pork sandwich which has less 'greens' and more 'meat' so to speak - alot of punch flavours. The strawberry shortcake shake is also a must try - a delightful suprise when the bits of "crumble" arrive on your palate through the tall shake mixer straw. Sweet and Tart - like a fond childhood memory of Nana's Sunday baking. Finally - the Cauliflower Cream soup. Deliciously smooth and rich in flavour- whilst the mushrooms seemed to serve little more than decorative purpose - they didnt take away from the brilliance that was that soup. Overall the place is beautifully set out - the staff are absolutely wonderful and the food is delicious and fresh. Dont skip out sitting next to the fireplace with the cosy chairs and blankets - or in the summer basking with your nibbles in the sun. Its so rare to find such a gem in the middle of the city ! I'll be looking forward to when they start doing a dinner service which I hear is in the works atm :) read more

We came Friday at lunch and were able to snag the one large table inside. Service was prompt and attentive but they were out of many of the things on their menu. The waiter told us what they were out of before we ordered, but then had to return after that to tell us some of what we'd ordered had also run out. I visited this little gem of a café after a friend recommended it to me, and I think most people would need a hint to find it as it is tucked away down a High St alley. Not that this is a bad thing - instead it makes you feel like you've discovered a well-kept secret. There inside is fairly cosy but there's a covered outdoor seating area filled with light and funky artworks, with sheepskins on the stools and wild flowers in jars on the table. I had an excellent coffee (they roast beans to create their own blend) and a lovely rich chocolate brownie while I flicked through a magazine. But after seeing the menu I'll have to plan a lunch visit on my next visit... provolone and gruyere cheese toastie with gherkin and branston pickle... cauliflower, quinoa, barley and hazelnut salad - yum! It's open super early at 7am - good for city office workers needing a caffeine fix - and I notice it's also made the ranks of the Metro top 50 cafes. read more
