The people are incredibly friendly, not only the workers but everyone who was there which shows the audience this cafe attracts. It was awesome to see the wide arrangement of drink options from hot to cold to energy infused drinks with Red Bull. They also had a TON of house baked goods. Scones, muffins, cinnamon rolls, strudels and more. They even have lots of various breads to choose from and cakes! They have inside and outside seating which is charming and simple. The food is great and the drinks are high quality and refreshing. The cinnamon rolls warmed up in the microwave were probably some of the best I've ever eaten. The cream cheese frosting is to die for as well as the strawberry rhubarb filling (I need a jar of it). Muffins are SO MOIST and great texture/flavors. I also really liked that by the cash register they had some pre wrapped baked goods that were slightly discounted meaning they were probably leftovers from the previous day or what not so I like that they do not waste! Overall, if you are in the area or a short drive away please stop in and you won't regret it!

I have not tried the sandwiches yet but heard they were good and that is next on the list to try. My favorite are the cutout cookies they have around the holidays.

The…read moreBake Shop in Ghent is tucked away and has a wonderful front and side patio/porch to sit on which really made the vibe great. I got in there about 30 minutes before closing so they were pretty cleared out of stuff and they mentioned how they stop serving lunch/sandwhiches 30 minutes before closing so just a heads up on that. The service was great and the two ladies behind the counter were friendly and helpful. It appeared that some of their refrigerated items may be bought for sale and not baked in house but all their baked goods in that case were made by them and had a large selection of baked goods from breads, biscotti, bars, tarts, cakes, and more. it also looks like they offer made to order/custom cakes so that is pretty cool! Although not pictured, we tried several macarons and they had a subtle flavor, nothing overpowering which was nice. We also tried their mini tarts in lemon and cherry, as well as their apple crumble in phyllo dough. This was interesting and I have never seen it wrapped in phyllo dough. We also tried the carrot cake which after unpacking it, I do not believe it was made in house as it was part of the other refrigerated goods. Everything was light and pretty tasty. I would give this place a try if you are in the area as it has a lot of charm and variety of goods so I am sure you can find something you will enjoy!

Wow--this is a quick review to match the quickness of the service…read more I stopped by Breads of Fairlawn this morning, just two days before Christmas. Parking was easy, and the door was wide open when I arrived around 9:00 a.m. The line wasn't too long, which was impressive given the timing. As I waited, I noticed one of the many signs stating cash or check only--uh oh. I rummaged through my purse and managed to come up with $8.00. Whew! Just enough for what I was hoping for: a loaf of sourdough. I love sourdough. Mine was a complete failure back when everyone else mastered it during the COVID era. Since my husband is gluten-free, bread has mostly disappeared from our home, and when I do buy it, I usually choose small half-loaves for the freezer. But with Christmas here, I decided to treat myself to a full, good-tasting loaf--and I found exactly that. The sourdough loaf was $7.00, and they offered to slice it at no extra charge. I was also offered samples (which I happily accepted). I tried the Parmesan-crusted onion bread and immediately understood the hype. The crust was chewy, the cheese flavorful, and there was a subtle onion finish--perfect for snacking on the way home without dipping into my new loaf. Once home, I tried the sourdough. The end piece is always my favorite test bite, and it did not disappoint. The shop itself is cozy but efficient, easy to get in and out of, and conveniently located near Route 18. The aroma of fresh bread was divine, and the staff was fun, friendly, and incredibly helpful--even with the steady flow of customers picking up holiday goodies. I also learned they accept Venmo and Zelle, which is great to know for next time. They even offered me a calendar of their daily bread specials, and I noticed that sourdough is one of their regular daily offerings--very good to know. I'm really looking forward to going back.
