This small quaint shop is located right in the heart of Medina. Near the Medina square. Just slightly off the main walk by about three stores. I wasn't looking for it by any means. I was just walking around and this place caught my eye. Who wouldn't want cupcakes. I love them. And I can for sure tell you that these cupcakes were delicious. The owner of the shop was extremely friendly. And walked me through the options I had as well. I also bought a cookie that was very large. And tasty. One thing to keep in mind. This shop closes when they sell out. So get here quick before you miss your chance of a delicious cupcake. I will be back next time I am in the area. read more

It took someone awhile to realize they had a customer in a shop and in the meantime, another employee came in, went to the back, chit-chatted with the person working, and then came back out, and as an afterthought yelled back "hey, someone is out here". The cookies were very cute, but overly sweet. The salted chocolate chip sandwich cookie was not salted at all- I think maybe she gave me something different from what I had asked for. So overall, they were okay, but I hate to say, I've had better local baked goods. I will try to come back again so I can improve my review. read more

Such a gem to the Medina Square. I love cupcakes, but it can be hard to find a place that has a soft flavorful cake with an icing that isn't overbearing in sweetness. A Cupcake a Day hits the mark for me across the board. The menu changes pretty consistently, but you'll want to try the different flavor combinations available to discover something you never even knew you enjoyed. We discovered our favorite of blackberry frosting on chocolate. The chocolate cake is soft and flavorful (almost a darker chocolate taste) and the blackberry icing has an excellent blackberry flavor that isn't overpowered by butter or sugar. Just an excellent match. Also something to note is they have the basics if you're looking for chocolate or vanilla with the same great taste and quality. If you're looking to try a few but don't want to load up on calories, the minis are a great way to sample around the menu. The staff is also incredibly friendly and accommodating. They were very helpful in our gender reveal in January and made the desserts exactly what we were looking for. The best red velvet cupcake I've had. My husband also tried the chocolate chip chunk cupcake, which he loved! I've been to A Cupcake A Day twice now and I'm not really sure how to review it! The shop itself is adorable. The woman who "helped" me on the first trip was pretty impatient and made me feel like I was an inconvenience. When faced with an entire display of cupcakes, sometimes it takes a while to choose only a few! I ordered six cupcakes for everyone at home to share and my family was a little underwhelmed, claiming the frosting was too sweet and the cakes themselves were dry. I like to try places more than once, so I stopped in again today to pick up a single cupcake for myself. The young woman who helped me this time (not the same person as the first time) was very pleasant and chatty. I think she may be the owner/baker, and she was personable. Again, there were dozens of flavors to choose from, but after a pretty hefty dose of doughnuts earlier this week, I knew I could only treat myself to one! The flavors ranged from cookies and cream to Cadbury creme egg to peanut butter and beyond. The selection was really impressive and I loved the variety. I chose the strawberry orange (strawberry orange cupcake with orange frosting and a slice of strawberry on the top). I have mixed feelings. On one hand, who doesn't love a cupcake? On the other hand, the cake was denser than I would have liked, almost like a cranberry orange muffin or bread as opposed to a cupcake. The frosting had a great orange flavor, but yes, was a bit too sweet. I know, I know...it's frosting. It's supposed to be sweet. I just like mine a little less sweet! I really liked the flavor of everything, just not necessarily the sweetness level and cake texture. I'm not sure if all of the cupcakes are made fresh daily...if so, hats off to the baker, because that's a huge undertaking. The cakes are in a refrigerated case, so it's hard to tell how fresh they are, and that may also impact the texture. I don't want this review to deter anyone from stopping by A Cupcake A Day. I definitely think it's worth checking out because we all have different tastes and I think it's important to support small, local businesses. If I buy a lemon cupcake, I think the cake should taste lemony? Very disappointed in the appearance of the cupcakes I bought on the second trip. Frosting was sloppy and didn't cover the top of the cake. On one, it appeared to have slid off of the top as it was mostly on one side of the cupcake. Variety has improved. Craving something sweet, I noticed this cute little cupcake place. For being so tiny, they had a variety of cupcake options. They had normal sized cupcakes, mini cupcakes, and a couple other baked goods. The flavors were a good range from birthday cake, coconut lemon, to peanut butter chocolate. I got four of the mini cupcakes which were priced at $1.10 per cup cake. The cupcakes were pretty tasty. My only complaint is that the cakes were slightly dry. The frostings were very good. One of the ones I got, Salted Caramel, didn't taste like either of those. It tasted like chocolate. Also, it was half the size of the others and very wet. The worker was very friendly. The storefront is adorable, and the owner changes the front window display monthly.The cupcakes are reasonably priced for a specialty cupcake bakery at $1.75 a piece, which is 75 cents cheaper than the competing bakery on the other side of the square.They also feature mini cupcakes at a buck a piece or a bakers dozen for $12, which my co-workers are now lucky enough to find in the break room at least once a week. There is a variety of at least a dozen flavors to choose from, usually more. The owner continues baking as the cupcakes run out throughout the day, so theyre always fresh. Also on the menu are vegan cupcakes ($2.50) every Friday and Saturday, and every Friday is Gluten Free Friday, where a few flavors of gluten free cupcakes are offered in four packs. For an occasional treat, there are Nanaimo bars, which are a little piece of heaven hailing from Canada- a layer bar with a graham cracker crust, a vanilla custard flavored light butter icing, and covered with chocolate ganache. The display has all the cupcakes just sitting there waiting to be devoured, and I was just the man for the job. We got a half dozen with flavors such as Cleveland Whiskey, snickerdoddle, caramel macchiato, and Skor. Just to name a few. The frosting was perfect on each. Not too sweet or buttery. And the cupcakes were (censored M word). I know some people hate that word! The flavors were rich and you could really taste the nuances. This little place is legit and a great Medina small business. It's difficult for me to find the perfect cupcake that is both fluffy and moist with the perfect amount of frosting that's both rich and light. A Cupcake a Day gets all of these qualities right on point! I live in Canton, and have been known to make the drive up to Medina just to get a box the best darn cupcakes around. I had red velvet and it was amazing! It was moist and the frosting was so goo! I am not one for frosting but this frosting was light and fluffy and not too sweet! This place has become my "go-to" for all small parties! Unlike other cupcake store, they are open great hours, so you do not have to force yourself out of bed to get cupcakes for a dinner party. Now saying that, please don't think they have all their flavors avaliable all the time, they do sell out. I really like that they post the flavors of the day on their facebook page, so I know when they are baking my favorite flavors! The shop also takes speciality orders by the dozen.
