I cannot begin to express my gratitude to my favorite hometown bakery, A Cupcake A Day. From bridal shower cupcakes, to holiday cookies, onto my most recent purchase, I have consistently been pleased. Shawna is great to work with, I always recommend.

I live out of town & ordered cupcakes for a friend's birthday...the customer service was excellent and the box was delivered within hours of the purchase (even on a short-staffed afternoon). They look delicious - I highly recommend supporting a local business

Gender reveal cupcakes. Exactly what we were looking for and delicious!

Such a gem to the Medina Square. I love cupcakes, but it can be hard to find a place that has a soft flavorful cake with an icing that isn't overbearing in sweetness. A Cupcake a Day hits the mark for me across the board. The menu changes pretty consistently, but you'll want to try the different flavor combinations available to discover something you never even knew you enjoyed. We discovered our favorite of blackberry frosting on chocolate. The chocolate cake is soft and flavorful (almost a darker chocolate taste) and the blackberry icing has an excellent blackberry flavor that isn't overpowered by butter or sugar. Just an excellent match. Also something to note is they have the basics if you're looking for chocolate or vanilla with the same great taste and quality. If you're looking to try a few but don't want to load up on calories, the minis are a great way to sample around the menu. The staff is also incredibly friendly and accommodating. They were very helpful in our gender reveal in January and made the desserts exactly what we were looking for. If you love cupcakes and are in the Medina area, take the time to make a stop and sample some of these excellent cupcakes. The only regret you'll have is that you didn't get more.

So a nice cupcake place! We came on Mother's Day and the women working gave me flowers! We bought cupcakes for the whole family and they were perfect! We loved all the variety of flavors. Wish I lived closer!

A Cupcake A Day was an easy choice since we have been enjoying their cupcakes for many years. We have always loved that they are a small business owned by a couple who has a big heart for their community. Their mini cupcakes were a huge hit at our wedding, especially the chocolate peanut butter! In addition to the many cupcake flavors they crafted, they also baked us a simplistic 8 inch couples cake for cutting and sharing. The cake and cupcakes were a perfect sweet treat for our non-traditional laid-back wedding.

After enough bacon-and-cheese laden dogs next door at Dan's, you're sure to need medical attention sooner or later. That is, of course, unless you proactively follow the old adage and stop next door at the new "A Cupcake a Day." If you're accustomed to cupcakes by Duncan or Betty, it's time to head down to the square and see just how delish these treats can be. The west coast has long been swept by $4 cupcakes from the likes of Sprinkles, Sibbey's, and Kara's, and if ACAD is any indication, the craze is about to hit the Midwest. Have no fear, the prices are regionally appropriate: $1.75 for full size, $1 for mini. Here's the 'cake by 'cake: Banana: By far the standout. Sure to be their best seller. The batter is full of fresh bananas (peak behind the counter and into the kitchen and you'll see metro shelving full of them.) Delicious banana infused cream cheese frosting. Red velvet: The key to any RV is the cream cheese frosting, and this does not disappoint. The cake is respectable but nothing to write home about. Chocolate: Nice and moist, not too sweet. Very pleasant! Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip: Too sweet for some in our party. This is basically the cupcake equivalent of those cookies you make with peanut butter and sugar dough and a Hershey's kiss on top. The soft opening was yesterday (12/26/2011), the grand opening is 01/07/2012. Considering we visited on their second day baking, the future looks bright for A Cupcake a Day. Now that you finally have one, support your local cupcakery!

    Strawberry orange cupcake.

I've been to A Cupcake A Day twice now and I'm not really sure how to review it! The shop itself is adorable. The woman who "helped" me on the first trip was pretty impatient and made me feel like I was an inconvenience. When faced with an entire display of cupcakes, sometimes it takes a while to choose only a few! I ordered six cupcakes for everyone at home to share and my family was a little underwhelmed, claiming the frosting was too sweet and the cakes themselves were dry. I like to try places more than once, so I stopped in again today to pick up a single cupcake for myself. The young woman who helped me this time (not the same person as the first time) was very pleasant and chatty. I think she may be the owner/baker, and she was personable. Again, there were dozens of flavors to choose from, but after a pretty hefty dose of doughnuts earlier this week, I knew I could only treat myself to one! The flavors ranged from cookies and cream to Cadbury creme egg to peanut butter and beyond. The selection was really impressive and I loved the variety. I chose the strawberry orange (strawberry orange cupcake with orange frosting and a slice of strawberry on the top). I have mixed feelings. On one hand, who doesn't love a cupcake? On the other hand, the cake was denser than I would have liked, almost like a cranberry orange muffin or bread as opposed to a cupcake. The frosting had a great orange flavor, but yes, was a bit too sweet. I know, I know...it's frosting. It's supposed to be sweet. I just like mine a little less sweet! I really liked the flavor of everything, just not necessarily the sweetness level and cake texture. I'm not sure if all of the cupcakes are made fresh daily...if so, hats off to the baker, because that's a huge undertaking. The cakes are in a refrigerated case, so it's hard to tell how fresh they are, and that may also impact the texture. I don't want this review to deter anyone from stopping by A Cupcake A Day. I definitely think it's worth checking out because we all have different tastes and I think it's important to support small, local businesses. I wouldn't hesitate to try it again and sample a few flavors I haven't tried. Check it out, this may just be your new favorite cupcake shop!

    Christmas Ale!

Cute lil place my daughter LOVES. Girl working (whom I believe was the owner) was super nice and chatty. Really cool and different flavors. They even have a Christmas Ale one! Glad to see they support other local businesses. Blackout Stout flavored one possibly?! Store looks modern but not too hip and stuffy. Prices are good. I also like that they have teeny, tiny ones. Better to try more flavors than the big honkin ones and kids dont need the big honkin ones. These little ones are the perfect size. This is on my go-to list of places to hit when we make the drive down to Medina. Love it! Here is a cupcake poem I "borrowed" from Corrine: artichoke cupcake maybe i'm an acquired taste maybe i'm like an artichoke cupcake maybe you learn to like me maybe you don't maybe i try too hard maybe i don't maybe it's not me this time maybe you only like cupcake maybe you only like artichoke maybe one day there will be someone who likes both Only thing I feel is stopping it from being a 5 star cupcake explosion is that they dont always seem super fresh like they were made days in advance and refigerated. Freshness is key when it comes to being a cupcake ninja...

Fantastic cupcakes, reasonable prices, fast turnaround, and Shawna is fantastic, she worked with me when I had a scheduling problem. Someone whose business you actually want to patron! Highly recommend.

    Not pretty

Since my preferred cupcake store closed, I have gone back to this shop twice. Cake was dense and a little dry. Cake was also flavorless. If I buy a lemon cupcake, I think the cake should taste lemony? Very disappointed in the appearance of the cupcakes I bought on the second trip. Frosting was sloppy and didn't cover the top of the cake. On one, it appeared to have slid off of the top as it was mostly on one side of the cupcake. Variety has improved. Maybe the owner was having a bad day.... Frosting was the best part flavor wise.

Wow the muffins were moist and explosive with flavor. My favorite was the coffee cake, nice crunchy top, middle was baked to perfection and the muffins held together while eating them. To understand how good the coffee cake was you have to grasp the carrot cake, which was filled with a cream cheese center surrounded by fresh warm carrot cake. Full of flavor, moist on the inside and structurally sound on the outside. The carrot cake was almost as good as the coffee cake, but there has to be a winner and a loser, unfortunately today the carrot cake came in a close second. Any other time Mr. carrot you would have won; but today the clear winner is the coffee cake. Try them both and decide for yourself!
