I have to admit, walking into the location gives me sensory confusion. On one hand, you smell meat. On the other hand, you smell sweets. It is what they say it is. It is just funny to experience it. The folks are always kind and efficient there and I've only ever gotten their donuts, so that is all I can speak for. I must say, they are pretty epic in the best way. Stopped here on the recommendation of others and so glad I did! Bought some paczki, fresh homemade lunch meat, and freshly made rolls. Yummy!!!!! For the lunch meat, I bought the homemade roast beef. So good! Very tender! Delicious and tasted great on their rolls. It was sliced to order so I was able to get it thin for the sandwiches. Really enjoyed the paczki too. Perfect balance of filling to the donut. Excellent customer service too! Very helpful and friendly staff. They lost a customer today. I was at the bakery today wednesday July 23. A lady in front of me was ordering a birthday cake for her son as she was chasing him around the store. I was waiting my turn. This review is only for the bakery. I have not had any of their meats or donuts but I had to write this review right away. In addition, I did not physically enter this store because my work team ordered a cake and picked it up. CAKE -- My team surprised me today (26 March 2019) with a round marble cake for me as part of my going away present of my final days working in Akron. The MARBLE CAKE was delicious!!!! It is a vanilla cake with some streaks of chocolate cake inside too. The cake was very rich and moist. It tasted so good. The icing was very sweet as most icings are but it was beautifully decorated in a spring flower pattern. After everyone had some cake, there was a final piece left which I was going to take home. I ended up eating the cake as I was leaving work...haha. I should have put the cake in the fridge after lunch because by the end of the day, it became a bit stale - this goes to show how fresh the cake was. We went here a few weeks ago and got the most amazing subs for $5.99. These subs had tons of meat and decent amount of veggies on it. A great sub at a great price. So we went back today to buy more subs and the price went up to $7.50. No biggie for a sub that awesome, but now they have half the meat and veggies. It was such a disappointment. This place is so unique. A great bakery, super prepared foods and the meat department is good, not great but good and the convenience of picking up a variety of goods in one spot makes up for it. People are friendly but fair warning, don't let the cashier color your opinion of the place. She is super unfriendly but that's how she rolls. Just ignore-the rest of it is worth it. read more

I thought it would be odd for a place to sell meat and donuts and, yeah, it kinda is. Especially since I went into the wrong door to go inside the place, which wasn't a good sign. I walked inside and saw a bunch of meat right in the front and to the side was all the donuts. I walked over and looked at the donuts, and was given a cold reception by, what I thought was their cashier. I ordered a blueberry donut, a maple glazed cream filled long john, and a sprinkled vanilla glaze. I went to the actual cashier who was at the front of the store after being given the donuts and was given another cold reception. After paying for the donuts, I left feeling like they need to improve their customer service, because I wasn't excited about these donuts a lick. I'm not gonna go on about the donuts because they're just ok, nothing great, but nothing bad. It's just the customer service was extremely lacking and needed work. read more

i was so excited to pick up my birthday cake i ordered from here and i was very upset when i saw it. it appeared as if it was done by a beginner baker. the icing was splotchy and uneven, the piping was poorly done, the colors were nothing like the reference picture, they put an entirely different species of palm tree on it, and left a gigantic piece of empty space on it. i feel very sad because i cannot get another cake and it is so ugly that im embarrassed to even use the cake at the party. Is it a meat shop? Is it a bakery? Why, it's BOTH! Yah, freaky. But I have to say, I'm a fan. I believe the meats are primarily Hungarian in nature. Bought some Kielbasa and Cheddarwurst. I really liked the Cheddarwurst. The Kilebasa was OK. Not quite mind-blowing, but good. I ended up buying a pound of both. The man behind the counter was quick to give us a (heated) sample. Free samples are always awesome! From the bakery area, we got some Kolachki's. This Polish girl gives her seal of approval. I've had many a Kolachki in my life and these were pretty good! read more

This is oou go to shop. The bakery is better than any bakery ive ever been to. The selection of deli items is huge. The meats are cut perfectly and you get only what you want and the problem for me is that i want it all. I plan my meals around my purchases at Leachs. The folks behind the counters seem to have endless smiles but the cashiers are opposìte ..i would but 4.5 option because of that but no half option available so i try to buy my items without eye contact or conversation. I wont stop shopping there because of cashiers. It might just be a personal thing. I recomend Leachs for general grocery shopping but the meat market portion and bakery are my all time fav go to depts. read more

This is a small shop in a small town and, as such, has its groupies for whom it's a status symbol and a point of pride to say "it's from Leach's." The prices are as high, which adds to the cache. The quality is good, but pork is pork and beef is beef, and all I got for the extra $ was bragging rights. Yesterday my husband and I found this awesome butcher shop? Meat market? I'm not sure what it's technical name would be! Friendly staff! They have baked goods, such as pies and cookies, etc. some behind the case and some packaged, priced and ready to go! The pies were HEAVY! Some items like condiments and such! Candy, nuts, a refrigerated section with dips, cheeses, fresh veggies... and the meat counter! Take a number! They had pork, beef and chicken, in many forms! Chicken breast stuffed, pork chops stuffed, sirloin steaks marinated... and lord did those get my attention! One was a sweet marinade and one garlic butter herb! They range in sized so they can hand pick the exact one you're looking for! I'm not eating sugars and starches so my hubs tried the sweet marinaded sirloin and I tried the butter garlic herb! Both steaks were gorgeous! Well priced, PS... no extra charge for the aged marinated sirloins :))))). We tried a ghost pepper cheese... they do have hot cheese and awesome description of just how hot!!! Yikes! Will be back for all my meats, yes... it's that good! read more

Normally I'm a fan of this place, not today. I bought a bunch of the boneless skinless chicken breasts they had on sale and was sorely disappointed. It wasn't the fact that the breasts hadn't been split...I have a knife. Nor was it their enormous size, truly the largest I've ever seen...obviously the product of steroids, antibiotics and old old chickens and the like, I figured it would just save me trying to score some 'roids at the gym. It was the fact that they had enormous amounts of fat attached to them. At LEAST 20% of what I bought was scrap fat that required two knives and kitchen shears and about an hour to remove. Stick to red meat here, that they do well. Chicken, buy anywhere else, there's no way this was butchered here and it showed. read more

Recently I phone ordered a ham for Easter. I called in the order on a Monday morning to be picked up that Saturday. When I went to pick it up they had no slip that I had called. No big deal until a rather rude employee said to another employee maybe they're just saying they called in the order. I don't appreciate the insinuation that I'm a liar. I frequent Leach's for a reason! After my wedding cake came out both beautiful and superbly delicious, I became quite the fan. Their cakes are fabulous - try the raspberry filling and you won't be sorry. I often pick up donuts or brownies for church functions and they never disappoint. Likewise, their meats are excellently cut, fresh and never fatty. You can certainly tell the difference in flavor and freshness versus chain grocery meats. If you are in a good mood and wish to stay that way, avoid Leach's Meats and Sweets. When my Golden Buckeye card was refused after being told the store accepted this card, I had no choice but to walk out. It was the last straw. The first straw started when I entered the store and picked out the bakery. I refused to let the moods of the staff ruin my great day, so I got my bakery and went to the meat dept after taking my number. The woman helping me was great so I was back on track. I came for dinner supplies but picked out impulse items causing me to put items on counter. I think my issue with the check out person was that she was already in a horrible mood but I was happy with what I picked out. I was promptly told the store no longer takes the BELLY card so I pulled up golden buckeye on my phone. Denied. This isn't the first time the employees displayed unhappiness but it was the first time that I couldn't take it. I left without my purchase. The bakery is good but you can buy any of their items within a short drive. The meat is meat, another item puchasable locally. The store ain't dirty but it could be cleaner. Parking is good but if turning northbound, it could be a challenge to pull out onto the road. I won't be returning since the only redeeming feature I've found was location. read more
