History
Established in 1958.
The original Shisler's Cheese House was established in 1958 by John Shisler. The simple goal was to provide local cheeses and gourmet foods to locals and any travelers on the Lincoln Highway who wanted try some local fare. Excellent customer service was the focus. I
t is now owned and operated by a third generation of Shislers. We also have a second location in Copley, OH owned and operated by our extended family. We now ship to over 30 countries. We have a new website offering our cheeses and other local fare to the world, and we have plans to expand in the spring. But the one thing that hasn't changed is our focus on customer service.

Meet the Business Owner: Rita S.
Rita Shisler has built a cheese business with conversation.
Shisler, a 62-year-old native of Austria, was born in a displaced persons camp and grew up in Germany. At 13, she couldn't speak English when her family moved first to New York and then to Akron.
Akron-based business consultant Norma Rist said she can see why Shisler's business is thriving.
"She has developed the most outstanding customer service you can imagine," Rist said. "Her business is built on repeat customers."
Shisler knows people come to her cheese house as much for the store's ambiance and conversation as they do for the food.
"People tell me, If you ever change anything in here I'll kill you," Shisler said, laughing. "I love my life now. . . . This is my happy place. But it was a lot of hard work that brought me back."
