There is parking along the side and back of the building. As you enter, you pass the nut and chocolate counter. You can either order food at the counter to go or continue passed the nut & chocolate counter to wait to be seated at table or booth. There is quite a few ice cream and sundae options. My wife and I had lunch here. I had the BBQ Bacon Cheeseburger and my wife had the Mushroom Cheeseburger and we had a side of fries complete with a small slab of butter. The burgers were and fries were delicious, we sat at the soda counter and I love the old fashioned environment and the service was amazing. Went to Heggy's yesterday. We had great,attentive service. The grilled Swiss on rye & the regular grilled cheese were awesome. The Buttered french fries were as delicious as I remember. What a great little shop in the heart of Canton. I've been coming here for years at Christmas time to purchase roasted nuts and homemade candy - the very best in the area! - but this time, my husband and I were starving and decided to enjoy dinner there as well. The little diner is very small but service was excellent and the food was delicious. It's nothing fancy - just simple diner food - but the prices are incredibly fair and hard to find better food for the money anywhere in the area. We had a cup of potato soup, a hot chicken sandwich, a basket of fries with pays if butter, and a burger. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. We topped it off with peppermint ice cream with hot fudge. My husband said this will now be his go-to spot when he's on break from school at Aultman College. I'm so glad that in a time when so many things have changed, this little diner remains the same as it was when I was a child. read more

Pure nostalgia. Brought my Niece here on a visit to Canton, OH. We shared butter fries and she had a mushroom swiss burger while I put my money on my all time favorite coney dog. My coney was just as I remember it, no beans just finely minced meat with that secret spice mix. Add relish and mustard and I was in heaven. My Nieces burger was a bit dry but I told her the coney was the sure bet. We passed on ice cream but I picked up a pound of unsalted hard white peanuts to take home to my husband. My sister-in-law brought me to Heggy's and I am so glad I was able to experience this place while I was in town. I got the BBQ Bacon Steakburger and it was great. She recommended the fries with butter (I know sounds odd right?) and they reminded me of my grandma's fried potatoes growing up. Definitely ask for extra butter. :-) I also got a peanut butter shake and it was so good! This is a very small, mom-and-pop place with about 10 tables inside, but the best part is they have tons of different nuts and treats you can buy at the counter inside that smell wonderful! I really enjoy giving small businesses a try because most of them are hidden gems and this is true about Heggy's. I will definitely have to come back and try the chili cheese fries and the grilled cheese or coney next time! So, Heggy's...this has been the same since I was a child, since my mom was a child. Not much, if anything, has changed inside. The smell of fresh chocolates and nuts hits you as soon as you walk in. It's a pretty small space, but there's seating in the back. The butter fries are good, but not to go because they become soggy. The coneys are delicious. They also have so many ice cream, shake, and soda/phosphate flavors. I'm sure they all taste great. I took a star away because service really sucked. Tr lady behind the counter was extremely unfriendly and rude. She complained that she was the only one back there, when I saw maybe 5 others standing around talking. She didn't even greet us, and had to be flagged down for our order. She became extra annoyed by that for sure. We've gotten the chocolates for years. There's no doubt they're the best in the area. I was excited to go in on a weekday at opening when it wasn't busy yet. I decided to get a 2 pound box of chocolates. I asked for some cream filled ones. I specifically said raspberry, lemon, Jersey creams, etc... At no point did I say peppermint cream. So I've had this box open for a week now. 80% of the cream filled ones in this box are peppermint creams??!!!??? I don't dislike those, but the whole point of getting a bigger box was to get a variety of things. I didn't want 15/20 of the same thing. I wish I could just make up my own assortment.
