Was in the area looking for a breakfast spot. This place is hidden away in a strip mall and doesn't look like much from the exterior, but WOW! Once we opened the doors we were surprised to see a crowd of people seated and standing in line to order. Watching all the food getting prepped behind the counter while we waited looked good! We ordered a croissant club and a breakfast sandwich with sausage on sourdough. I should have ordered the bacon though. Sandwiches were huge! And piled high with greens, tomatoes, avocado, thinly sliced red onions. Both bread choices were perfect- a little crunchy, a little chewy. And even though line was out the door it moved very fast. We did not wait more than 8 minutes. And our white mocha lattes were also quick and delicious. Worth a stop if you're in the area! read more

A very interesting and quite alarming visit today. As we walked up to Toasted we were excited as there was no line as there usually is. A gentleman was standing outside to the right waiting for a ride with a cooler in his hand. We walked in and about 5-6 people in line. A young gentleman sat in the corner at the front bar near the window. 2 people at the first table, and 3 people at the next table. ( details are important here) We had been in line about 5-10 minutes and a young lady walked up to us and asked us to go outside as there was a line. See the details from earlier.... She wanted us to go outside and wait behind the large family that had recently showed up. Again no one outside as we walked up, except for the man with the cooler. I am the first person to be ok with a, hey I didn't see you and move to the back of the line. We conversed for a bit as I couldn't understand why the hell she wanted us to move back, ( seems super petty, but no one was there!) In our conversation I reached out and touched her arm, in a compassionate manner, she remarks "don't touch me" zero elevation in this conversation and I was shocked as if I had just assaulted her. Lesson learned for me, certainly not my intention, I am a kind and compassionate, person, and very protecting. My instincts tell me there was far more to this than a line issue. I have never cut in a line in my life and am very cognizant of those around me. The details above are important, as what I do for a living makes me extremely aware of details and my surroundings. Toasted no doubt has fantastic food and coffee, yet there is clearly an element there that isn't as inclusive as you would think. The only standards are double standards. I happened to be in Riverside with my friend and we decided to try something new for brunch. I always look up new placed to eat on Yelp and this place had great reviews and it was around the corner from our original destination. This place is very small but extremely clean. The staff were very nice and helpful and the food looked good. I was sold on the pastries and the bread and ordered the breakfast sandwich, a coffee drink, and the almond croissant. This was my third time back to toasted. The first two times were amazing, food was great! It's been a while since I've came back, I was expecting it to be busy as it usually is. I ordered the French toast, with scrambled eggs & bacon plus a side of potatoes & the "into the woods" fall drink. The food plus my drink came to $27. The maple syrup was not just on the French toast but all over my other food. I am not a fan of syrup on my eggs or bacon. I think they should be more careful with plating or consider putting it in a side container so it's not spilled onto the other food. They started to get busy after 9 though! I ordered their breakfast sandwich with turkey, and I asked for some jalapeño on the side. To be honest, I think the sandwich lack flavor. People, stop going to fast food chains and start shopping local. This little gem is located in the Stater Bros shopping center and can be easily overlooked. I'd been inside a year or so ago for coffee and can't say I was impressed but I'm glad I gave them a second chance. This place is pricey, but honestly I feel everything is nowadays. This place ruined our morning due to the cashier being rude to everyone in the long line on a Sunday morning, they're lack of knowledge on crowd control, they were out of sourdough by 10:50 am (reviews say that's what they're known for), and their dark tinted windows (I almost got a door to the face twice) hiding drugs or protecting vampires working inside? This is not a sit down restaurant or cafe, there's some seating inside, but it's two seaters and it's so crowded in there that it would be uncomfortable to eat without someone hovering over you. They clearly need to move to a bigger space. We were in town for puppy yoga in the morning and looked up coffee places and this had high reviews. Drove there and had to go slow to find it as they're in the same shopping center as a Stater Brothers (?) and the parking lot was packed at 10:50 am on a Sunday. Found Toasted, parked, went to open the door and it came swinging at me with a guy his big stroller and family of 5. The windows are tinted so dark that I had no idea he was exiting. Also, why are the windows tinted so dark, what are you hiding exactly? The line inside was disorganized. Porto's has this down to a science and it takes maybe 3 stanchions from Home Depot to get more people in there, in an organized fashion, and one janky sign that says, "We are at capacity, please wait outside until space clears up. Thanks for your patience, it's worth the wait." Instead, the cashier walked up to the end of the line by the door and told us she knows it's cold but wait outside, but her tone said, "Get out, I don't care if it's cold and raining, I'm not going to figure out a better way to draw the line in." People still weren't getting what she was saying and just stood there and by the time she physically motioned for them to go outside they were over it and left. We stood outside and waited and after a while, one of the patrons opened the door and told us to come in as more space was made. Again, the dark tinted windows on the door and lack of customer service from the employees, prevented us from knowing when space opened up inside. We waited inside and I heard a lady ask for sourdough and the cashier told her unfortunately they weren't selling any, even though the display case was full of sourdough. She left immediately with nothing and we left shortly thereafter because I was looking forward to their sourdough. Their croissants are very tasty and they have multiple options to choose from. There are thick and a good portion size. I ordered a hazelnut coffee, I did like it. It was tasty, I'm not big on the coffee taste and this one wasn't too bad. The restaurant itself is rather small, it gets crowded quickly. They have a few tables and seating against the window. I absolutely love this place. It's usually pretty busy in there and that's how you know it's good. Despite that, the cashiers are very attentive and it's never a long wait. They also accept phone orders if you're in a bit of a rush. I usually get the pesto eggs and recently got the earl grey latte and both were so good! With so many coffee shops opening up nowadays it's hard to find GOOD lattes, but you can tell they actually use quality beans and focus on the espresso rather than covering it up with low quality syrups. My first time here. Super crowded at 11am on a Friday. The place is cute but small so be prepared to wait. Not sure if they have AC but it was very hot inside with two ceiling fans going. It might be the ovens with an open kitchen in a such a small space. I got a large iced mango coconut latte ($8). Jalapeño cream cheese croissant ($6), loaf of sourdough ($10) and a lox bagel breakfast sandwich ($10). The latte was very good but I couldn't taste much of a mango or coconut flavor. Just a light sweet hint. The jalapeño croissant was huge. Saving for my husband so can't rate the taste. The loaf is beautiful, light and airy with a thin crisp crust. It's a mild sourdough but a beautiful loaf. Now the most disappointing thing I had was the bagel. They loaded it with lox which was great but there was barely any cream cheese spread. I scraped off what little there was to re-toast the bagel. Luckily I had cream cheese at home. For $10, I think it's fairly priced but the bagel was very average. The tomatoes and cucumber were a nice add but so thinly sliced you can barely taste it. I wouldn't get this again. I'll try a different entree next time. Overall a great little place. read more

I picked a weekday since I've heard from many that this location gets very busy on weekends. Visited on a Tuesday around 1 p.m. it's a great place for lunch after running errands. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The place is decorated really nice and the vibes are really great, it's very calm with some nice background music. You can sip your drink while reading a book. It's family friendly and takeout friendly. I got an iced salted caramel matcha oatmilk latte with a croissant club ( the staff mentioned the croissant can be exchanged with sourdough FYI). The sandwich can definitely be split between two people. The bread was buttery, crunchy, and perfectly flaky (you could see so many beautiful layers!) it had super fresh vegetables, including avocado, bacon, turkey, and mayo. It was absolutely delicious.
