I had the sunshine burger and it was so good. The bun was probably the best bun I've ever had. I'm a big fan of vegan meat so I don't usually go for veggie burgers but this was nice. I will be back for the pickle soup I'm intrigued

I'm not sure why this vegan location has star rating of 3.9 when it should be a perfect 5 I say this because from time to time I do make a visit to this location but recently in 2024, I visit Before my birthday and on my birthday and after my birthday. All three experiences were so laid back and relaxing. I've even livestream my experience for social media. The food was and always made fresh and taste very good. Now, I'm homeless too now and I was able to afford my meals. The tomato soup they offer at the time of my visit, was do Balance and not heavy but creamy, flavor hit the brain with a wow. The vegan meatball parm was incredibly so good, I wanted another one for sure. Brussels sprouts are to die for. Cooked well and seasoned with balance. Delicious and well prepared business and I would recommend it. Thank you for the Delicious meals and would be going back soon.

Toad Style opened when vegan junk food was still considered an oxymoron, at least for the omnivore normies who associated veganism with macro bowls filled with raw veggies. Perhaps some people still have this association, but finding vegan cheezburgers, vegan mac n cheese and vegan quesadillas, all of which you can find on the menu at Toad Style, is not hard in every borough, so while I thank them for being a pioneer of this cuisine in Brooklyn, I won't be returning. One thing I appreciate here is that you can get any one of their many sandwich in two waffles instead of bread. They even provide you with syrup and this blend of sweet and savory went well enough with the tofu scramble I ordered. Uniquely, instead of soy, they make tofu with chickpea flour, much like they do in Burmese cuisine. The texture of this chickpea based scramble did not hold up very well though and had little flavor. On the flip side, both bbq jackfruit and ceasar salad were overly salted, but lacking any depth of flavor. This is a takeout only joint, and I admire the movie paraphernalia and posters along the walls, but that's about all I like about this place.

Best ceasar salad ive had in a while. I ordered this to-go, so it was freshly dressed and crisp when I ate it. I loved how savory and spicy this salad was, and the pepitas added a nice amount of substance to an otherwise meatless dish. Inside, there are a few seats but it's pretty dark.

Good food! Only thing that left me disappointed was the missing avocado crema on the Jackfruit nachos that usually comes with it since it was really spicy and needed the cooling effect of it.

Lesson learned: be open to change. Some time ago, Toadstyle dropped their gluten free bread in favor of tacos, which made me sad. The tacos are ok, but the GF bread was better. Since then, they've started offering GF waffle sandwiches as an option. I dunno... aren't waffles their own breakfast thing? Ok after months of yelling at those waffles to get off my lawn, on some particularly sunny and endorphin filled day, I dared to be different. W O W ! Just look at this vegan burger with Avacado.

Ambiance wise: we didn't get a great vibe but soldiered on in, considering we're on a vegetarian diet currently. My wife and I tried their $11 Soup and Salad lunch specials, with tomato soup and Kale and Caesar varieties of salad. Being used to Dig (formerly Dig Inn), I thought it sounded like a square deal until I saw the trays. The salads are surprisingly spartan (small, boxed, refrigerated, mostly leafy greens), and the dressings for our salads came out entirely congealed, rendering them inedible gels. I asked for lemon wedges as an alternative. They didn't have any. I asked for anything else I could use as an oil-free dressing (due to dietary restrictions). No options offered other than reheating my cold-gelled olive oil plastic cup in the microwave. No thanks! I ended up using the last of my soup as an impromptu dressing atop my kale salad. That actually worked out okay. And the soup itself was fine. The service was cold, the ambiance austere, the music was weird. It's safe to say, we would never come back.

I'm not a fan of the wanna-be meat / impossible burger offerings, so I appreciate their patty choice. The burger itself had a nice crisp on the outside and a dense and soft center. Personally I love that, maybe not the texture for everyone though. The cashew dill cheese adds the perfect amount of creaminess. Nearly forgot there was no dairy in this. My only wish for this burger is that the bun was warmer, I would have loved that moist mouthful that a hot bun offers. I do appreciate the ratio of greens, the peppery arugula did a lot for me. All in all, the Sunshine Burger was quite delicious. Didn't feel like shit after eating it. Not greasy. And you can tell it's made with quality ingredients. I'll be keeping this in my back pocket for the nights I'm craving a burger.

Came here once on a whim and loved it, but now I live nearby so I can always get my fix! The Disco Fries are awesome! Just enough gravy and the fries are fresh, so you gotta love that. It feels good to know you're eating cruelty free, but can still get the fix to your cravings. The burrito is also bomb. There is something about getting a scramble that isn't just tofu and turmeric it's so flavorful. Definitely recommend coming here or getting delivery- totally bomb read more

Been coming here for over a year and it's still my favorite spot. Always an awesome vibe and good music selection. my favorite is the sunshine burger(the pretzel bun will blow your mind) and the pizza fries. Can't miss. Toad Style dishes up some delicious vegan comfort foods such as hefty burgers, large banh mi's, delicious cheese fries and more. In Bed-Stuy, located in a small mostly take-away location you'll find some of the best, greasiest food in Brooklyn that is "probably-bad-for-you-but-wait-its-all-vegan-so-it-must-be-healthy-like-it's-pretty-much-a-salad... right?" -- or whatever justification you tell yourself. My only real complaint here is the service is atrocious. There is one woman who has been at the front counter my last couple times being here who just has a terribly unfriendly personality. Constantly scowling, short and abrupt with customers, etc. Whatever, the food is good. And given the service, maybe being a take-out spot is it's saving grace. read more

Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Just have to say how impressed I am with this place and their food. Vegan is never really my thing, in that I personally think it is unnecessary, though nothing against people who insist on eating it. This place is pretty small, low key with a kitchen right by the counter. There are a few tables inside and a little area right in front if you choose to eat your food there. The food is definitely amazing, albeit a little on the pricey side. -Philly Cheese steak: Filled with mushrooms and onions and cheese and all that good stuff - I was absolutely in love with this sandwich. Mind your mouth though - it comes out piping out and you will burn your mouth like I did wanting to inhale this sandwich. Worth it though. -Beet Reuben: An interesting twist on the Reuben. Tasty, but I have to say I think the Philly Cheese steak sandwich won out. -Fried Cauliflower: Why are you reading this? Just order it, be happy with their version of honey mustard dip and have a wonderful rest of your day. I was so pleasantly surprised at how good this place was and would definitely be willing to come back here to eat. read more

First check in here,but not my first visit. Good vegan take out for a fair price. Dim lighting and clean restroom. They also deliver. Nice menu with a ton of different thing to choose from. My favorite being the fried cauliflower. read more

This side of fries, free of condiments, comes in a convenient grab bag. It's simple enough to snack along from whilst you're walking or parked outside, if you didn't have the rest of the meal and drink with you. Maybe you're with a kind friend who is carrying it for you! Regardless, what's important is what's inside the bag. And what's inside is terrible over-cooked. These fries are much too fried. They're crisper than crisp, they're dead and the bitter taste of burnt potato skin lingers too close to comfort. Over salted seasoning doesn't help to disguise this poor timing and attention. read more

Other than the extremely expired kombucha I received when I ordered online the food was decent - the cheesy broccoli was too oily. I'm really disappointed that I didn't receive more of an apology from them since the kombucha expired in OCTOBER of 2015 (!!!) If a restaurant overlooks things as simple as the expiration date on beverages i wonder what else they overlook. read more

Visited my friend and this place was a ten minute walk. Truly a hidden gem. It was all vegan which was perfect for me! I love that places like these are making more of an appearance all over the country. I got the sunshine burger and it was good. Came out at a reasonable time and I didn't feel gross afterwards. I wish there were more places to sit, though. read more

So I REALLY want to like this place and I'm thinking that I may have caught them on an off day? The person behind the counter was so sweet, so I have no complaints about the service. My food, however, was kind of gross unfortunately. I ordered the Buffalo fried cauliflower and a side salad. The sauce on the fried cauliflower was sooooo salty and was almost inedible for me. The side sauce they give kind of helps balance it out but just wowww so salty. The side salad was just arugula with a balsamic (?) dressing but there was sooo much dressing on the salad, it literally was like arugula soup and I couldn't eat most of it (and i usually like a lot of sauce and dressing). My friend liked the caesar salad she got so maybe I just didn't order the right things. I'd maybee go back and try something else but I'm not rushing over there anytime soon. read more

Ah what to say. I was really excited to come here, I follow Toadstyle on instagram and their food always looks so amazing. Sadly it did not meet up to the hype. I got the jackfruit sandwich, which was my favorite and my gf got the thankful burger. We ended up trading cause she liked mine better. The first few bites were good but in the end I was not thankful for the trade. Tasted like I was eating bread with sauces, couldn't taste the patty at all. We had fries and Mac balls too. The fries were super greasy, my gf loved them, I did not. The homemade ketchup tasted way too sweet. The cheese balls were really good flavor wise, texture wise eh not so much. Over all was not impressed. Aside from the food the atmosphere was ok, what really killed it thou was the way they blasted the music. It's not like the music was any good either, it was just noise. I don't feel like they have a playlist. Maybe the staff picks what's playing. If so they should change that, I read another review that mentioned an audiobook being played. Honestly I would have been happy with that. read more

A nice restaurant just around the corner to my best friend's apartment I make sure I come here everytime I go visiting. The staff are super friendly and somehow they keep me coming back even though the food itself isn't the greatest. Don't get me wrong it's wonderful but one would think that's the major reason to come back to a restaurant but I just go for the warmth and the good vibes all through. read more

I tried this place for the first time, and I simply loved it! I ordered the Philly cheesesteak and it was simply divine. The place is small and cozy and it plays great music! I am vegan boyfriend is not but we both LOVE this place! This is a small restaurant serving big flavor! Loved the Philly cheesesteak (special one night) along with the ratatouille soup (soup of the day) pizza fries to crispy broccoli with cheddar sauce. My friends and I had just gotten lost on public transit for three hours so we decided to get some grub near our Airbnb to feed our misguided, hungry souls. One of my friends is vegetarian so I'm always conscious of finding places that offer vegetarian friendly options. Thankfully Toad Style offered cheap AND vegetarian options. We got there and noticed it was a bit cramped, like many places in New York, but still it offered a cozy, intimate feel to it. The employee who took our order was indifferent and didn't look like she wanted to be there, but nonetheless we placed our orders and got them in under 10 minutes.I ordered the grilled cheese for $7 plus tax, and it tasted really good. The cheese was delicious and there was a yellow tomato in it which I found fascinating. I samples my friend's fries and it was also tasty. I could tell that all the items on their menu were crafted by hand. Despite the small vicinity, they had everything: indoor and outdoor (it's a bench) seating, a restroom, and a water container for customers to freely access. Their food options are all super healthy so I don't feel as guilty when I eat here. I enjoyed my visit and would definitely come back for more. read more

If you're vegan and looking for a fast food option that's great for pickup then here's your spot. The burgers are pretty flavorful for being vegan but I do recommend asking them to add some buffalo sauce for a little extra kick. The California burrito is the perfect large snack to fill up on, I highly recommend it. Everything I've had from here is great from the cauliflower wings to the fries, will definitely be ordering from here whenever I want my vegan comfort food! They're quick too and the service is solid. read more

Wow... literally some of the worst vegan food I've ever had. The burger patty had the consistency of mashed potatoes and the "cheese" was more of a granulated spread that tasted nothing like cheese or even a cheese substitute. The grilled cheese consisted primarily of an almond parm, nothing "gooey" or cheese-like, and instead of tomato sliced it seemed for of a chunky tomato-onion relish that overwhelmed any semblance of cheese there was supposed to be. Won't be ordering again, especially as there are quite the number of other delicious vegan options nearby. If you want a good vegan sandwich, do your self a favor and go to HartBreakers. read more

Had a really great veg burger without almond cheese. Everything was delicious even the ketchup tasted homemade. Whoever answered the phone could use a review in customer service, although I suspect her lack of manners was due to being busy/overwhelmed. Otherwise can't wait to return, nom nom. read more

Really nice variety of sandwiches that has a good mix of tasty staples like Philly Cheesestake and more interesting items like beet Reubens and BBQ jackfruit. I had the Reuben and jackfruit (both were great!), along with the fried cauliflower, which was also pretty good. Heads up: if you're going to order delivery, allow for at least an hour. Ordered delivery just now and am still waiting for my food because the person on the phone had a god-awful attitude and decided not to put my order in after telling me that it had been "out" after I had called because I hadn't yet received a receipt. Also sounded super annoyed when I asked basic questions like how much their reuben sandwich was since it wasn't listed on their site. After waiting an hour for my food, I called again and spoke to a different employee who noticed my order had never been entered. Other than that, I'm a pretty big fan of the food. Just give yourself a ridiculous amount of time for delivery and beware of the person who sounds like they don't give two shits. read more

Food is good. I've been to the location a few times and decided to order food online. The service is lacking and my food was cold. I don't understand how it was so cold. I don't live super far from the restaurant. Worst of all they'd forgotten to add one of my orders. I called them to have the item sent to me because I paid for it and at a $9 price point, I wasn't going to let it go. The man that answered said they couldn't replace the forgotten item without a new order being placed because the driver was with grubhub or something. I relunctantly said "ok" and agreed to a refund. No sooner had I said "ok", he hung up. No apology, no confirmation, just a dial tone. Whether they're busy or not, that's crappy service and an even crappier customer experience. I've refered people to this restaurant. I want to support smaller restaurants in the community. As such, they shouldn't make it harder for customers to enjoy a service they provide by being rude and non-challant. The least Toadstyle could have done was accept responsibility, apologize and not be curt. It was, after all, their mistake. Such a bummer. I hope my refund actually processes. I'll know to be less keen with my patronage and enthusiasm in future. read more

Fried Cauliflower was what drew us here. We saw the reviews and had to try it. The breading was wonderful but the Cauliflower heads were pretty big and not cooked through. They all seemed almost raw in the inside. The fries were pretty good and the smoked cashew cheese for my sister's cheese fries was good also. We wanted buffalo so one of the chefs gave us their house hot sauce and it was HOT! The tiny place has a cool atmosphere. read more

Most impressively, not a single person with dietary restriction felt like they were missing out in any way. Everything that made it onto the table was fresh, delicious, and perfectly presented. Amazing place! I'm so glad to write my first review exactly that way! And who said vegan food can't be tasty? I always get surprised with this delicious burgers, sandwiches, fries and so forth.. There are so many unqie options, I love them all. Yes, it is small and yes the vibe is fantastic and I felt so so comfortable roaming for something and finally coming across such a lovely place. Ordered California burito and nuggets with sweet chili mustard. As was mentioned above, I love them all! Such places will make you reconsider meat eater habits and turn them into eaters with consciousness. It's getting more obvious there is no necessity of mass murdering animals, as vegan food can be so delicious and nutritious. Just give it a try! It's all about the desire to get rid of the influence on public consciousness through the media and change the habits we are used to. I have the Benh Mi sandwitch with coconut, mushroom and other thinks I can't remember, and it blew my mind!! I've never taste something so interesting, and will definitely come back to have some more. The three stars is because the place does not look good, the kitchen is greasy and sweaty, it gives me the impression of dirty, not saying that it is, bot gives that impression. As for service, it's not the most friendly place in new york, but it's neither the worst, if you are not a demanding person hahah. Hope you guys work some of this things out!! I ordered a cheeseburger and the chili here. The cheeseburger was terrible. I genuinely couldn't eat it. Whatever vegan cheese they put on it looks and taste like gritty Mayo. I couldn't stomach it. The burger itself was sloppily made & had a rotten tomato! Chili was edible, but not a single drop of salt was to be tasted. I don't think I will try them again. read more
