The owner is condescending and rude to say the least. My son has a defective tire but instead he blamed my son's weight, he said in front of a child with Autism that he was fat and needed a bigger bike!!! Disgusting human being!!! read more

I want to give this place a good review, but I can't. The work done was fine, the customer service experience was fine, but I should have gotten a written estimate before leaving my bike. It ended up being 3xs what I expected. I'm a single mom whose kid found an old bike in our basement. He had outgrown his so I was happy to fix this better sized older bike up for him. But now I am facing a period of financial hardship due to this unexpected cost. I would recommend getting a written estimate and request being called for approval to any adjustments to it. read more

As luck would have it, I stumbled upon this bike shop while googling for a place to get a spanning wrench to change my pedals. TLC for Bikes carries bicycles from manufacturers I was not familiar with, so I thought I'd check them out. Owners, Gary and Wendy, are wonderful people who share a love for the sport of cycling, and give back generously to the community. Both come from a competitive racing background. Gary is USAC Certified, and a Master Mechanic. Above all, TLC does not try to "push" the sale of what they have in stock. Rather, they listen to your needs, find out your abilities, and your riding style. After taking the time to fully understand what you're looking for (even when, initially, you may not know), they make a recommendation. Should you choose to purchase a bike, they will take the time to ensure it is fit for your comfort and performance. The customer service in unlike any other bike shop I've ever patronized. Gary and Wendy are always ready to provide expert advice. When you visit TLC for Bike, you are not merely a customer, you are part of the family. TLC for Bikes organizes weekly rides for people of all levels from their shop, and partner with USAC certified coaches for those who are serious about the sport. While they are somewhat centric to road cycling, TLC for Bikes offers service for any bicycle style and brand. If you are looking for a large store with a wide variety of bicycles, or staff offering generic, scripted advice, this is probably not the bike shop for you. TLC for Bikes is a small shop offering personalized attention, advice for proper bicycle selection, expert mechanics, and know how to properly fit a bicycle to your body. Whether you are looking to purchase a new bike, replacement parts, a tuneup, or adjustment, I highly recommend stopping by. I've purchased from very good bike shops in the past, but TLC for Bikes is, hands down, the best I've dealt with. read more

TLC for Bikes - Bikes Near Me - Raleigh, North Carolina

When I moved to Raleigh near the Greenway I decided maybe it's time to get a bike again and get some exercise. I walked into TLC when my wife was shopping at Lafayette Village and felt at ease the second I walked in. I started to speak to Gary who I come to find out is both the owner and a neighbor and we had a complete no pressure conversation. I told him my years of no riding and I don't want to spend a fortune as who knows if I will enjoy it again like I did as a kid. Gary just talked to me about the different kinds of bikes for the different styles of riding, as well as making sure the bike I would purchase would be comfortable and safe for me. I did not buy anything that day and made 1 or 2 more visits talking to different employees each time before making my purchase. They did not try to sell me a hundred add ons for my bike, yes they did sell me a water bottle holder. There was no push to buy this outfit or this accessory or these must have biking shoes, they understand that I am an around the area rider, and treated me as such. They organize rides from the shops and are always friendly and are happy to answer questions. It's a locally owned business, let's help them out. read more

Went in on 12/12/20 and the mechanic is hands down the best one ive ever encountered. Excellent service! The guy at the front desk was super helpful as well. read more

My bike needed repairs last week and I was nervous about bringing it in because I know nothing about bikes. I'm not a "serious" bike rider (you know what I mean), I just use mine to get around and I depend on it a lot because I don't have a car. I brought it in and Gary immediately identified all the problems and told me what they were and what it would cost to fix them (without making me feel stupid). He was very nice and up front about everything. I got my bike back the other day and I am so happy with it! He did a great job fixing it. It's good to know that this bike shop is here, and this will be the first place I go if I ever need repairs again. read more

This is the place to go in North Raleigh for great service! I am very pleased with the repair and maintenance work from Gary. I have been coming to him since his first location in Bedford and brought in my tri, road and classic MTB for service. Since then TLC was able to find me the perfect 29er for mountain biking the local trails and roots! I couldn't be more satisfied. It really makes a difference to have such a strong supporter of cycling in our community. Thanks Gary and Wendy for supporting so many group rides and fundraisers. read more

I have purchased 2 new bicycles and had 2 prior bicycles serviced with TLC. They stand behind their work and take the time with you. I can't imagine going anywhere else. read more

Haven't even picked my bike up from having tires & chain replaced and already know that they deserve an excellent review. I have ridden my bike hard for 8 years so it definitely deserved some TLC from somewhere other than our "home shop" and these guys know their stuff. Wendy & Jaime came out to AE Finley YMCA to talk to a group of us who are entering a mini-triathlon. Jamie gave each bike a quick look-over and gave recommendations on everything we questioned him about. Wendy finished up with advise on nutrition & hydration - both are super knowledgeable. I knew my bike needed more than just some air so I took it over to the shop immediately. Quick & easy answers dropping it off and later on Jamie called to confirm what I needed - asked me how I rode and made suggestions for tires. Excellent communication and service from everyone I encountered from TLC today. read more

Super rude sales associate! Condescending and unwilling to provide more information on the options available within each pricing tier. He continued to press me on what I had intended to spend and was adamant that I already had a figure in mind. I explained that I was not sure what I was willing to spend based on not having the information on the functionality and quality available within each price range. Instead of providing more information on the bikes, he says "You still didn't answer my question" in a rude and nasty way. Such an unpleasant experience after having a great brunch just around the corner. read more

My husband and I are casual bikers and took our bikes in for a tune-up and some minor work. Gary had the bikes done in two days and was pleasant to work with. A few days later, my bike was having some unrelated gear and brake issues and Gary immediately put the bike on his rack and fixed the problems at no additional cost. Great service, good prices, and fast. read more

I met Gary (owner of TLC for Bikes) cycling in Butner ~2 years ago when I first started riding. He looked at the bike and told me that the frame was too big for me. He then said, do you mind if I adjust it a bit for you and I said yes. He did it right there on the spot. I finally took the bike back to the store from which I purchased it and switched it to a smaller frame. I could feel a big difference after switching to a smaller frame. I then took my bike to TLC for bikes to get it tuned up. Wow, Gary did an excellent job including washing of the bike. I could not beleive it. The bike look good and rode good. You can really tell that Gary have a love for bikes. I have also bought nutrition, recommended by Gary from this store and they were great. Gary also likes to give training ideas. I definitely recommend TLC for Bikes!!!!!! read more

Great experience. Went in to take a look around after the gym and Gary was a pleasures to deal with. They have several boutique bike brands that are very high value to price. They are interested in selling you what you need and not how much money they can get you for because the bread and butter of the business is the mechanics. Great turnaround time on service and my machine has never run smoother. Parts and service are decently priced for small shop. They host a ride group that is very friendly for beginners but will be a challenge for the advanced rider. read more

It had been a number of years since I had purchased a new road bike. I was in the market for something special. Gary built up a Colnago for me with a variety of top end components. The bike is awesome. Gary did a great job at a competitive price. You can't get the the service Gary provided from an internet site. read more

I came in to buy an inner tube and I guess the old guy tending the store was having a bad day. He seemed kind of agitated with the customer ahead of me, then proceeded to talk me out of buying the inner tube, with patently false statements about it. Plus he was wearing his spandex bike suit LOL. What a weirdo. read more

Great experience. Great service. Genuine interest in sharing knowledge and ensuring you're getting the most out of your purchase.

I bought a bike from the owner Gary over a year ago. Spent more money that I had planned to do but feel is was well worth it. He is a very easy-going person with a wealth of knowledge on bikes and is a repair pro. His store has very convenient hours too, open every day. If you want a nice bike and have any questions about them, this is the place you should go. read more

Being completely impressed with the level of expertise is just the beginning of outstanding experience I had at TLC. They were very friendly, welcoming and helped me to have my bike fitted to me so I could ride better. They helped me learn to use clipless pedals and helped me to understand techniques that would improve my cycling. They were nothing ahort of amazing. I will not go anywhere else. Cheers to the gentlemen at TLC. read more

This bike store has renewed my faith in good quality customer service. I went on a ride today and I am so impressed with everything from the samples to the knowledgable leader and mechanics. I have been nervous to try a new bike store since I am new to the area and these guys made me feel so at home. If I could give them 10 stars I would. Top notch group. Great service, advice and store. They aren't pushy trying to sell you a 1200 set of wheels when you say you are looking to upgrade. They watch you ride and help you ride more efficiently and the list goes on and on. I will recommend this place to everyone I see on two wheels! Thanks guys! read more

Brought in 2 bikes that had spent 4 plus months at the OBX. Had a lot of "orange" on them. They don't look like new, but the run like new so far. Great guys with some helpful tips on keeping the bikes "less orange" as we carry them on the back of our RV to our next destination. Would return without reservation. read more

Good prices, great customer service, and very knowledgeable. I will definitely recommend this place to all of my family and friends. I went in to get an old bike tuned up and they talked to me about what needed to be done and how much it would cost (which wasn't much). I asked them if a new bike would be a better option, they said in the long run yes, but my old bike could still get me around. After talking with them, they asked me how much I ride and showed a few bikes to me. I asked which they recommended and awesomely they said the least expensive one! It rides great. I recently got a flat tire, so I brought my bike in for a new tube. They put it in, in 5 minutes (no appointment necessary) and taught me how to properly do it. This place is great, I wouldn't take my bike anywhere else. read more
