I came back in a panic and without hesitation, they let me take one of their e-bikes out to go back and retrace my 25 mile ride. When I got back, without finding my fab key, they told me to leave my car as long as needed and helped me figure out a locksmith. They were kind and genuinely caring. As fate would have it, upon loading my bike into my friend's car, I saw my key fab had somehow fallen from my pack and gotten lodged into my bike frame where it remained for over 18 miles! My husband's new bike came in with a stripped bolt inside the stem of the handlebars. I dropped the bike off and picked it up a few days later when he was able to saw it out for us. The pricing was completely reasonable and they even left pieces off to help installing the new stem from the original bike company when it ships to us. I had a good tune up on a bike I brought in. However, if you walk in the shop and they are talking to someone about a recumbent, go ahead and leave and go down the road to trek or the other way to giant if you need tubes or something. I've been in the shop 5 times and if someone is talking g to them about a recumbent I am not even acknowledged. I am happy to wait. But I e been walked away from and abandoned as well. Just because someone is standing there not obviously needing a $500 repair doesn't mean you won't make money off of them. I needed a local bike shop. Three weeks ago Rob introduced me to the world of trikes. I looked at new models and ultimately purchased a used terra trike from one of his customers and today brought it in for service. Rob and Mark took excellent care of me and made me feel like a long term valued customer. They adjusted my trike adding links to my chain, setting the seat, neck rest, adjusting the gears and so forth. I bought some accessories and got excellent advice on the new helmet I wanted. Rob and his employees have been maintaining our bikes for years. I recently decided to look at recumbent trikes.. Rob took a lot of time educating me on the differences of various recumbent models. I wanted to see which would load into my Subaru w/o folding, and Rob accomodated this by spending over an hour loading and unloading various models to trikes. Ima novice bike rider with a good mountain bike. I am handy but know little about how to maintain my bike. I broke my chain and could have fixed it myself except I lost the damn thing coming home. I went to the Bike Guy to get a new chain and had the best experience I could imagine. Rob the owner of The Bike Guy talked to me for 30 minutes, telling me about my bike, local trails, what adjustments my bike needed, recommended the proper lubricants, tires, and answered all my stupid questions. He then took my bike, in 10 minutes put on a new chain, adjusted my gears and brakes, sold me a used seat pack for $10 and charged me a very fair price for his work. I love this place. They do expert repairs and adjustments and are cordial good folk. They rent bikes, repair bikes and sell bikes, parts and equipment at fair prices and they know what they are doing. While visiting Wake Forest I borrowed a used bike from a relative. It was horrible. I took it to The Bike Guy and he immediately worked his magic. Got the 21 gear shift working fully and fixed the front brakes so they didn't rub, oiled everything and I was on my way. The difference was profound and the cost extremely reasonable. As I walked up the steps of the small shop tucked behind the Neuse river, I noticed the peeling paint and thought to myself, "may be time for a fresh coat". Upon entering, however, I saw that this was all just part of The Bike Guy's particular charm. Families shuffled their kids in and around, bikes and bike accoutrement hung from every inch of wall space, and two industrious gentleman were busy at work. I ordered a Marin SCII from the eponymous Bike Guy, Rob, almost a week ago after a bit so great experience at one of the local raleigh shops. Rob and his staff were courteous, responsive, and helpful over the phone, and I was treated with the same service upon arriving. Every question I had was answered and expounded on, and every favor met. All the while, Rob and his other mechanic were engaging with other customers and meeting needs. This place is great. It's in the old Falls Dam Country Store and has been totally renovated on the inside, but it kept the old country store vibe. In fact, it smells like an old leather-smith joint. For the time being, it's a bike rental, repair, and maintenance shop and, from what I can tell, it's doing very well. There is a possibility that they could get into boat rental (very much needed), but for now they are doing what they love: bikes. I don't have the prices yet, but if you're interested in taking a nice bike ride next to the dam or on the Greenway, swing by this place. It's a very welcome addition to the area. read more

What a great and well-maintained cycling shop near the head of the Neuse River Greenway. I was visiting Raleigh during a recent business trip and wanted to rent a bike for a recreational Saturday morning & afternoon. There were plenty of well-maintained bikes from which to choose. The owner placed the bike on the stand for a quick performance/safety check, and I was on the trail soon thereafter. The staff seemed to even be all-family, but I can't verify that connection. My husband and I recently received two ebike Catrike 559s that we had ordered there earlier in the summer. Rob spent all the time needed in setting our bikes up for us and did not rush us at all. My husband had to take his bike back in to have some things adjusted after riding it the first time and again Rob spent a long time making sure everything was right before we left. Brought in a new bike that I'd purchased online and Rob (the owner) was incredibly friendly and helpful. He got the bike assembled in a reasonable time and had me come in before regular store hours for a private fitting to make sure I was happy. I'd requested a "pro fitting" which is more expensive but he said that with a new triathlon bike, my fit will change as I get used to the new style of bike. As a result, he talked me DOWN to a regular fit (less money for him) because he felt that I'd be much happier in the long run. Very new to the cycling world and just got a new bike for me to do Triathlons in. Being a complete novice I took it to here and the owner couldn't be nicer. We did a fighting for the bike I had to make sure it rode well. He also did a tune up for me. He was very helpful in explaining what he was doing and why he was doing it so I could start understanding what all goes into this. Of course I have a lot to learn but he was willing to teach. The cost was the norm from what I priced around the area and he also worked on a mountain bike for me. The only issue I had was the length of time it took to get my bike back ( 1 1/2 weeks), but it's also a sign of how busy he is. Good experience and will go back again. read more

Rob is great! My chain was jumping and shifting my vintage Moto was intermittent. I brought it to Rob, and he found my rear hanger was off on ALL THREE Axis's! We were new to the Wake Forest area and saw the many green ways when we were looking at houses to purchase. I researched bike shops and prices and found that most of the prices for good bikes were about the same. The criteria came down to customer service ratings. From the moment we walked through the door we were treated very nicely and at no time were we made to feel like we did not know what we were doing. We told them that this was the first time purchasing a nice bike like this and they took their time to explain everything and provide options. There was no hard sell at all and even provided more economical options on some items. After ordering three Marin bikes, we received a call a few days later that the 2019 models were out, but Rob was creative and two of our bikes got upgraded to get us into the bikes even sooner. My husband and I and 2 other family members flew into Raleigh last week from Oregon for a coast wedding. We wanted more out of the short trip so we rented bikes from The Bike Guy and had a very unexpectedly great adventure on Raleighs Greenway system. With the shop located next to the Neuse River Trail it was really slick to just hit this beautiful paved trail system right there. We took the trail 18 miles and then hung a right onto Crabtree Creek Trail for 7 more miles, ending up at a Best Western with a pool. The next morning we did it in reverse. I can't say enough about the nice guys at the shop, great bikes, and the mostly flat, shady, through-the-forest-along-the-river trail. Thanks Bike Guy owner! You rock! read more
