But when I got to the store, it turns out the bike wasn't there. Fine, whatever, no sweat! They put in an order and said it would be there by the following weekend. Fast forward a few days, and it turns out the bike was damaged. So they had to order a new one, and they weren't sure when it'd get in. A few days later, I called and found out the bike had just been delivered so I asked when I could pick it up. They said they needed to build it first, but then called shortly after to say it was ready. But there wasn't really any apology for the late delivery, so I was a little thrown off by that. When I made it to the store a couple days later, I was thrilled the bike was finally there in one piece (by this time it'd been 2 weeks since I put the order in). I asked for some help to get it on my bike rack, and the employees refused saying they'd then be liable for the bike if it fell off. That felt a tad rude, considering I'd just spent nearly $600 on a bike that they'd delivered to me a week late, without apology. On top of that, the sales guy insisted I needed a $40 device to keep my bike on the car rack (which, by the way, they still wouldn't help me with). I later found out this frame adapter costs about half the price at another local bike shop down the road. Sigh. So overall? Nice shop with some great bikes, but failure to deliver, lack of the southern hospitality I've gotten used to in the Triangle, and general overpricedness will keep me from recommending this spot to fellow cyclists any time soon.

I was given an estimate of 2 1/2 weeks. I patiently awaited. The day before the due date I called. It was not ready. I was told it will be ready on the due date and the person is placing the work order on the desk. I come pick it up at the end of the due day. It is not ready. No one is aware it needs to be done. I am familiar with the industry, I understood the extended timeline and hoped its the safety net for the staff. I was willing to close my eyes for questionable small charges in the invoice. Hoping that the service and quality are going to be good and won't even remember any of it. With all my understanding of the business challenges, the economy and other things - I do not understand why some small businesses don't care about their customers.

I'm glad that I am one of those people who didn't hesitate to visit, as I was met immediately by a staff member asking if there was anything they could help me with and if there was anything in particular I was looking for. I had already found the bike I was wanting to test ride but my eye caught another one that I felt was more suited for me. I love that they tune the bike up prior to you test riding it and not just pulling the bike off of the rack and sending you on your way. They instruct you on where to ride that is safe and to take as much time as you would like to make sure the bike is going to be the right fit for you. I never felt pressured with upsells on accessories. I did buy them but they were also things I needed anyways. Previous reviews had mentioned a limit on occupancy and I did not see where they were limiting occupancy to 2 people at a time, however masks are required to enter. I really enjoyed working with the staff that helped me (I'm sorry I didn't get their names) and really appreciated the staff member that assisted me with getting my bike into my car and showing me how to take the front wheel off. I highly recommend All Star Bikes and will definitely be back in the future for an upgrade or new bike for my husband.
