I called several bike shops to get shorter Shimano cranks for my Trek EX8 MTB. All of them except Cycle Logic told me that I would have to wait until next year due to supply issues. I haven't ridden a bike since middle school and during covid decided I wanted a gravel bike. When I went into the shop I had no idea about bike sizes, components, accessories, or what makes one bike 1k vs 4K. They were extremely informative and helped me make a purchase that was right for me. I ended up getting a gravel bike and spending some extra money to get a set of road tires so the bike would be multifunctional and so I wouldn't need to buy a road bike in a few years. Went in to get some lube for my rusty chain and was helped by some really great guys. They were more knowledgeable than I about these things. I'd been using the wrong lube! They weren't super, overly friendly, but they were smart and helpful and kind. That's good enough for me! They even gave me a rag to clean my chain with. They also had VERY cool jerseys that I wanted so badly, but just couldn't do it this time. You won't be impressed immediately when you walk in the store, but stay a few and you'll start to see the glory of the place. If I lived here this would be a place I'd visit again. I have to agree with Brian's review below... luckily for Cycle Logic the "hipster bike craze" has gotten out of control around here, and that's what CL seems to specialize in these days. I got into fixed-gear biking (WITH A BRAKE AND A HELMET) waaay back, before anyone around here knew what a "Pista" or "Critical Mass" was - I know, I'm a pretentious bastard. I had to buy my Bianchi on a trip to Chicago in the early 2000's because there was no dealer nearby (and as far as I know, there still isn't). I bought a Diamondback mountain bike from CL in the mid-2000s, and was pleased with my purchase. They threw in a "free" helmet and water bottle - I say "free" because it was either that, or they'd take (I think) 20 bucks off. Thank god for the helmet though, as I proceeded to bust my ass several times on the local trails, cracking my head every now and then... which might explain a few of my shortcomings. My fiance took her bike to CL a few months ago to have some fenders installed. The price they quoted seemed reasonable, but, to my surprise, the workmanship was shoddy at best. Not long after having them installed, my lovely gal experienced loosening of the fenders, which led to them rubbing on her tires, and almost causing her to bust ass while riding at a steady clip down Hillsborough Street - that's right, SHARE THE ROAD. In the future, I'll probably steer clear of CL, and go to the local co-op instead for repairs. As far as purchasing equipment, as much as it pains me to say this, I'll probably go to REI, as most of the locally-owned bike shop personnel seem awfully jerky these days. Perhaps that's a product of the facepage generation and the "I'm better than you" attitude everyone seems to have around here. read more

Took my bike here to be assembled for $50 after ordering online. After assembly the bike with internal gear hub wouldn't shift down, had brakes rubbing, and cam shaft was over tight. My fiancé and I had a great experience purchasing bikes from Cycle Logic. We are beginning bikers, who didn't know very much about bikes before going into Cycle Logic. Minori was very helpful and non-pushy or sales-oriented. She gave us a little education on the types of bikes we were looking at, set us up with a few to take out for a test ride, and showed us some quick tips once we selected our specific bikes. She also threw in a few minor accessories with our purchase and took a nice discount off a few other things we bought. Looking forward to having Minori and Cycle Logic maintain our bikes in the future and will update my review if necessary. Side note: This was the second local bike shop we went to and my fiancé actually had purchased a bike at the first shop. I was trying to fix my bike myself and needed a tool I could only find at Cycle Logic. When I arrived, they were super helpful, answered all of my questions, and got me the part I needed. Soon I realized that I was NOT a bike mechanic and I called them back to see if I could just bring the bike to them. I took it back and they fixed it under 10 minutes and sent me on my way with a working bike!! The customer service was fantastic and everyone was super nice. I recently stopped by this shop with a bike that turns out needed a minor adjustment. I had received the bike as a gift which showed up in a box. I got it mostly together and then had a tune up done on it at another shop downtown Raleigh. When I took it out for its virgin ride I noticed that the front tire was catching on the frame so I immediately stopped riding - I noticed the rubber from the tire was shaving off. On my walk back home (about 2 miles) I came across this bike shop and took it in. The gentleman, seemingly knowing that the bike was not "one of his" and clearly out of a box snidely remarked "you better take that back to where you had it tuned. Those guys are not professional mechanics" (which is not true). I am not so stupid to know that all that was needed was the tire to be adjusted - which took me five minutes to do when I got home - which I was happy to do on my own. However, being in the service industry myself, I would have handled that entire situation differently. I probably would have, at the very least, handed the potential customer a wrench to fix the wheel instead of sending him on his way. Perhaps, had I had a "better bike" I would have been treated differently. This is the first time I have taken time to write a review on Yelp and sadly, as with many other first timers, it is because I had a less than experience - rather than a great one. I certainly will never return to Cycle Logic. Though they may have been around since before the "hipsters" as other reviewers have mentioned - I certainly didn't feel welcome with my bought in a box bike. read more

I'm all for supporting local businesses. However, the service here is god awful. I work in the service industry, so I am always careful to treat all staff, no matter where I go, with respect and kindness. I take extra care to be an easy customer, and I try to just be all around mindful. Anyhow, I bought a bike online, and I'm well aware it is not a 5-star Tour De France level bike. It's a starter bike, because I am just dipping my toes in the waters of the biking community and learning the ropes. I've brought my bike here one time to purchase a bike lock and lights, and the gentleman, I believe he is one of the owners, was a little short with me. Even though there was a lack of friendliness, I still didn't mind because I'm sure some people have off days, or maybe he was just more introverted. He still wasn't nearly as rude as the woman on my next visit. Fast forward a week, and I am in the shop again with some brake trouble. This time, I was being "helped" by the other co-owner, Minori Sanchez-Fung. She was downright RUDE, condescending, and left me feeling insulted by the end of my visit. It was outrageous- I felt like I was being scolded for having a broken brake. There was snobbish sarcasm, and she kept looking like she couldn't wait for me to leave the store so she could get back to whatever she was doing. I am new to the bike community, I had a few questions, and was bringing my business and my wallet to this store with a smile in hopes that I could have someone more experienced help me. Instead, I felt like I was being shoved out, that I was unwelcome, and that I was all around too inferior in my bike knowledge to be helped. I will NEVER be back here, and I will never recommend anyone to come here. I just don't understand how you could run a business this way. No matter how long your store has been there, or how "local" you claim to be, you absolutely never treat customers this way. You just don't! Especially a customer who was nothing but respectful and patient with your poor attitude. I work at a local business in downtown Raleigh, and no matter the situation, no matter how rude a customer is to me, I continue to be friendly and try and deliver the best service possible. How a store can have any customers with this type of service is beyond me. If you decide to try this place, good luck. Hopefully you have a better experience that I did. read more

I absolutely love this bike shop! I had a damaged frame that I brought in to be assessed for warranty repair, and they handled the entire process (outside of my initial dealings with the manufacturer/and original shop of purchase). I paid a reasonable fee for the necessary parts and reassembly on my new warranty frame, and I was reunited with my new bicycle in a very short amount of time. I recently purchased a bike from Ed and Mike at Cycle Logic. They were very helpful on the day of purchase and available to answer my questions and help me with the bike. A few days later I decided I really probably should have gotten the next size up (I'm pretty much between sizes). They worked with me and got me on the bigger bike without any hastle. They were very accomodating and never made me feel like an inconvenience. Raleigh bikes are great because you get the quality components you want for much less than a comparable bike elsewhere.
