They repaired the issue I took it in for but while it was there a few more things went wrong with it. Not 100% sure it was their fault but the car became unbearably loud after I picked it up and they also left a tool in my hood and it wouldn't close properly. So probably not the worst spot in the world but definitely won't be going back to fix whatever problem they created to make my car so loud. read more

I have taken several cars to him over the last 9 years and always turn to him first. He has even come to my home to help me with a car repair when I could not get the vehicle to his shop. That kind of service is rare, but greatly appreciated. Scott's hard work has earned him a customer for life in me. I would highly recommend you use TLC Car Care for your repair needs. I know some of the reviews are really good, and I want to just say that I did not actually have my car serviced at TLC Car Care, so this review is for the customer service prior. I came in on Saturday right at 3pm. I had called 15min before and found out that they were closing and I really wanted my car to get checked out soon. I came in right at 3pm and they guys behind the counter indicated that they wouldn't look at the car that day, it would have to be Monday morning. I said that was fine. No mention of a diagnostic fee or anything - my bad, I should have asked. I was told I would be called Monday morning before any kind of repair would occur. Monday morning rolls around, don't hear anything early so I give them a call late into the morning and they tell me they're just looking at the car and will call back, get a call back saying the repair is going to cost me $1000 dollars to replace ALL my ignition coils and ALL my spark plugs. I blanched to put it lightly, and I naturally decided I needed to get another quote. I called another shop and they told me that was absurd - there was no way that ALL of those needed to be replaced, usually a couple. I gave them the make and model of my car and they looked up a price per part and long story short - much less than $1000. So I ubered down to TLC to pick up my car. When I got there, I was told instead that it would be a "good idea" to replace all of the ignition coils and spark plugs because if the mechanic is already replacing a couple, it would be smarter to just replace all of them because of labor cost (apparently some are harder to reach than others). Now mind you - I told these folks that 1. I'm a student with limited resources and 2. my car has close to 190000 miles on it and is 14 years old - cost benefit analysis didn't make it seem like "a good idea." I was then told there was a diagnostic fee of $90, okay - no word of this prior, albeit, I'll take the blame for that, I suppose I shouldn't assume someone is going to tell me that upfront when I drop my car off. Overall bad experience for a few reasons - 1. disingenuous - on the phone I was told the $1000 was necessary to fix my car, when it is was really just "a good idea". 2. I would've appreciated a heads up about a diagnostic fee - that just seems like good practice. Maybe the service they provide is fantastic, I don't know, but I left with a bad taste in my mouth. FYI: I ended up paying hundreds of dollars less after it was fixed somewhere else and my car runs great. read more

It is really hard to find a good, reliable mechanic who you can trust. Recently my car started overheating and I needed to find a local mechanic quickly in order to get my car to safe working condition. Mark and the TLC mechanics were able to identify the problem and source parts within a few hours of drop off, and I was back on the road the next day. Mark did a great job of keeping me informed on the progress of my repair, offered contacts on where to find a discounted rental if I needed, and answered all questions regarding possible alternatives to radiator replacement. When it comes to price - I did my due diligence and called around to see what a similar repair would cost elsewhere. TLC came in 35% lower than the dealership. I'm very happy with the service and will be returning to TLC for future car repairs. read more

I'm a convenience shopper. Don't think I've ever been to the same mechanic twice, but I'll never go anywhere else after working with Jason at TLC. He is as straight as it gets, and the work is superior to dealership quality. After a previous mechanic incorrectly bolted my caliper bracket, and I ended up with a hole in my wheel. He literally worked 3x's harder to cut my bill in half, than I have seen people work to double my bill. I'm a TLC customer for as long as they'll have me! read more

Sage wisdom on the phone, and a very reasonably priced brake drum mill, and I was off to the races. Other places might have taken me for a brake repair, but these guys seem like the genuine article. Actually TLC auto repair. 1998 Grand AM Just fixed a problem with a sensor where our car would not stay running. Works GREAT and fixed the next morning. Also has previously worked on leaking intake gasket on V6 engine, (if you have Grand Am this old then you know or will know this repair) and fixed it quickly and properly. 5 stars. read more

When Scott owned this place it was awesome. Now that Mark owns it, it's terrible. Mark is a good mechanic and does get things done in a timely manner, however he does not know how to run a business and does not treat his customers with respect at all, which in my opinion is more important than anything. My roomate has taken her car there a few times over the past year couple years. A couple weeks ago she took it in because it was stalling. He replaced a sensor and that did correct the problem. He said she would need to get her ABS sensor replaced as well before it started snowing otherwise she would be sliding all over the place because she would have no traction (quoted her at $200.) When I dropped it off for her a couple weeks later so he could replace the ABS sensor, the last record he had for her taking her car there was a year ago. He replaced the ABS sensor within 1 business day and when she went to go pick it up she brought her receipt from a couple weeks prior when it was there because it was stalling. He had no explanation as to why that record was not in his computer. He blamed it on me (who had dropped it off) saying I was a moron and that it must have been in someone elses name (he wouldn't say whose name it was in). Mind you the receipt cleary stated her name, phone number, etc with everything spelled/typed correctly. In other words he was quick to blame everything on anyone but himself and was completely unprofessional. He went on to brag about how he has a PHD in mechanics and that his mom was rich and he inheritied all her money when she died. He also charged her $50 more because of his claim that she was never there a couple weeks prior or that "it must have been in someone elses name" and that he never would have told her $200. The guy is a joke and has an ego the size of earth. I would not reccommend taking your car here, but if you must make sure you get and keep your receipt. read more

My muffler was repaired (poorly) at another establishment, (The muffler was bracketed directly to the car which made the muffler noise resonate throughout the entire vehicle.) I have always driven past TLC, not giving it much thought but I decided to drop in to TLC to see if they had a solution for my noisy beetle. Scott looked at my car right then and immediately had a solution to suggest for me. He contacted VW parts department for a spec drawing of the muffler configuration. After a quick look at the schematic,, he told me the specific part I needed and how he would repair it. I picked up the part from the VW dealership the next day, dropped off the part and the car to TLC and a few hours later the car was fixed AND SO QUIET! Scott and his mechanic was friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Best of all, it was an inexpensive fix. I would definitely take my cars there again. read more
