The food is ok, nothing I would drive out of my way for, and nothing I couldnt get at any other deli in the area. I was visiting my cousin who lives close to it and the appearance of the place is not impressive. It is a dump actually. The windows are dirty, the bathroom smelled of urine and all the tables to sit at had crumbs and food on it. The employees look like they are in a chain gang. They seem miserable. No one acknowledges you when you walk in for a few minutes, and when they do say hello, it is a forced smile if they do smile, and the big guy behind the counter literally said to me "what do you want". I was going to leave right then but my cousin said this guy is always like this, how charming. He was a crazy man. He was screaming obscenities to one of his employees the day I was there for making a mistake. I felt bad for not saying anything to defend the person, but I was scared of him myself, he comes off as a lunatic. Im surprised he doesnt work down in the mines or something far away from people, he should not be working with the public with his lack of personality. Like I said the food was ok, the crazy man made a mistake in charging us, but I wasnt saying anything to him, because he seems to have a mental imbalance or something. The prices are high by the way, and the heros are the same heros every other deli has. Nothing spectacular here. I wont ever go back and the reason is not the food, I would never go back because of that man. He seriously needs professional help. read more

Amazing amazing amazing!!! Their sandwiches are the best in the world in my opinion!!!! I usually get the Philly cheesesteak but everything in this place is delicious! They have a great variety if hot and cold sandwiches! The most important thing to my when reviewing a restaurant is consistency. This place is the definition of that. The sandwiches served are perfect every time and portioned perfectly. Another favorite is the Louie lightning, a perfect blend of Cajun chicken, "stealth sauce" bacon and american cheese. I usually add the bacon and cheese to the sandwich. I have tried just about all 23 sandwiches and can complain about one. The "Manhattan" is also delicious! They have a great selection of beverages but their ice tea is something special! I can promise you that you will not be disappointed! if i could give less than one star, i would. the man that works here, i heard someone call him tim, is a bastard. how can a business last so long with such a mean person talking to customers. he was a real shit to me and my boyfriend. my bf doesnt speak english well and "tim" kept saying "what? what? i have no idea what you are saying?" in a nasty tone. i dont know what TJ stands for but it should stand for TOTAL JERK. i will never go again. and they got my order wrong, the bathroom was disgusting, and i saw a bug on the floor. go to my hero if you want a good sandwich and nice service. read more

I have always enjoyed coming to tj heroes for a Louisiana lighting. However, it's annoying as it's now a hot or miss when it comes to the chicken. Some days the chicken is great and tender, while others it's dried and chewy. Staff is usually nice, unless it's peak time, you can tell they get a bit agitated. read more

It's a quaint neighborhood deli with over 100 years of history, which is why I kept giving it chance after chance. I've ordered from this deli many times. They have frequently gotten my order wrong, but I never complained. I simply accepted it and moved on. On Father's Day, I ordered three egg sandwiches around 10:00 a.m. I arrived at 10:30 to pick them up and still waited another 15 minutes. After spending about $35, the order was wrong. Again, I let it go. Today was the final straw. I ordered two egg sandwiches and a small deli iced tea for delivery. The total was $33 before tip. The owner, John, delivered the order himself. He rang my Ring doorbell twice but never knocked. We completed the exchange without issue. When I opened the bag, the order was wrong--again. I called and politely asked to speak with the owner. I explained that my order had been made incorrectly. Instead of trying to resolve the issue, John hung up on me. I called back three more times, and each time either he or his staff hung up on me. I drove to the deli to speak with him face-to-face. His response was simply, "That's unfortunate," and he refused to remake the sandwiches or offer any refund or solution. Everyone makes mistakes. What separates a good business from a bad one is how those mistakes are handled. I wasn't angry about an incorrect sandwich--I was shocked by the complete lack of customer service, accountability, and basic respect. After years of overlooking mistakes and trying to support a local business, this experience has guaranteed I will never return. There are plenty of delis that appreciate their customers and stand behind their service. Unfortunately, Maple St. Deli isn't one of them.

I called around 1:30 PM to place an order for three sandwiches, a macaroni salad, and mayonnaise on the side. They close at 3:00 PM, so there was plenty of time to prepare the order. The person who answered the phone was not particularly friendly, which was disappointing from the start. I arrived before closing and, while sitting in my car, checked the order and realized the mayonnaise was missing. I went back inside to ask for it. When I got home--less than five minutes away--I realized the macaroni salad was also missing. I called the deli and asked about it. When I asked if I had been charged for it, I was told, "If it wasn't on the receipt, we didn't charge you." That completely missed the point. I had ordered the macaroni salad and needed it. At no point was I offered the option to come back and pick it up or given any effort to make the situation right. Then, while looking over the receipt, I noticed that one of the sandwiches also did not have the cheese I had specifically ordered. At that point, I had to go to my local grocery store and buy sliced cheese to fix the sandwich myself. So, in one order, I was missing the mayonnaise, missing the macaroni salad, and missing an ingredient I had specifically ordered on one of the sandwiches. More frustrating than the mistakes was the lack of customer service when I called to address them. I understand that mistakes happen, but how a business handles those mistakes matters. Unfortunately, this experience was frustrating from beginning to end. These are new owners, and based on this experience, I won't be going back.
