I have been going there for as long as I can remember. It is a great place to stop and get heros on the way to the beach, ball game or a night off from cooking. We were in the mood for meatball heroes so my husband drove to DelFiore in Patchogue not knowing they close at 6. So he went to TJ's hero shop instead. The meatballs on this hero were Kirkland frozen meatballs that you can buy at Costco...and they were cold. This is a hero shop and they use frozen Kirkland meatballs? I've had better meatball heroes at the drive-in movie. They have a great rating so somebody must be enjoying their heroes. Not me. read more

I have been coming here for years. My family and I love TJ's! Although the outside may be deceiving, this place is really great! The place is usually really busy, and you still get your food really quick (despite the crowd) which is a plus in my book! They offer half and full sized heroes. A half is more than enough for an average person, however if you are extremely hungry go for the full size! If you want to treat your family, go on Wednesday! You buy one, and get one half off. Our family always orders from here before we make our way down to the beach. They have a great selection of hero's to choose from, so definitely one of anyone. I would say my favorite has to be the LL (Louisianan Lightning) with extra sauce for sure! I gave this place two chances because of the great reviews but it sucks. Both times I ordered chicken cutlet, lettuce, bacon and Swiss cheese with LIGHT mayo. The sandwiches were 75% lettuce and 24% mayo lol well, that's what it felt like. The chicken needed another minute or two. It was cut into strips which I didn't like but not a big deal. There was not enough cheese!!! but the bacon was good. I'm SO tired of these weak sandwiches and they are not cheap, especially if its just lettuce. read more

I called to place my order for super bowl and was told that conveniently their prices on the internet were wrong and there would be a large increase. I asked to speak to a manager and the women proceeded to tell me she was the owner and can charge whatever she wants and she didn't care if I gave her my business or not. im sure everyone jumps to how good the hero's are and believe me they don't disappoint. However I will have to say my favorite thing about this place.. wait for it.. the Ice tea. LOVE this place!!! Great heroes, sandwiches & wrsps. I worked in a nearby school district for 12 years and we used too many times to have them cater luncheons for faculty I ordering Heroes, wrap platters that come with macaroni, potato and coleslaw. When I go in and order Heroes my two favorite are Louisiana lightning & The Manhattan (no gravy)... you can call ahead place an order and I'll have it ready or go in and order it. You can also make up your own hero, sandwich or wrap the very accommodating. Use Boar's Head cold cuts which is the only kind I will eat. I've been coming here for years. They give you a huge portion but that's a good thing. The bread is always crispy. The meats are always fresh. I do wish they add more bacon inside the club sandwiches because you can hardly taste the bacon with everything else inside the hero. The prices aren't bad at all. read more

The Patchogue location is the Flagship Sammich Shop to the Mastic Shop. The product is Just as bangin'! Speedy service, no attitude. The quality of the Heroes and side salads are way above average. my last visit I finally tried the Spicy Stealth sauce and I was impressed. They modified the chicken cutlet with bacon and garlic bread and threw on the stealth sauce, Nicey-Nice! That sauce goes on everything from here on out! read more

I love TJ's, but I hate that every single time we order my boyfriend has to emphasize and be questioned back 3X that he wants the works along with the cajun sauce on his Louisiana lightening. We order from here quite often and it's very frustrating that the same woman asks every time in this kind of "ew your putting vinegar with cajun sauce? that's disgusting even though i'm not even eating this sandwhich" attitude. Tj hero shop is great, the price is reasonable considering that the portions are massive, ample fillings on your sandwiches and good sides. The iced tea is good, but it rings of 4C. I still recommend this any time. read more

Even with a few flaws, I still give it five stars. Their sandwiches are the best thing going, especially the Louisiana Lightning, a cajun chicken sandwich with their spicy Stealth sauce. The only things I don't like: 1) It's small. If it gets busy, you'll feel like a sardine. And yes, it does get busy. 2) They don't offer breakfast like their Mastic or Middle Island locations. 3) Cash only. They have an ATM, but people don't use it since you'll get double dipped on fees. We showed up there and the woman behind the counter kept slamming the box ( which I now know had my heros in it) on the floor and was very rude. To get home and open the boxes to see this. Went for a Louisiana Lightning and ranch chicken sandwich. Both were excellent. Bread was nice and fresh and soft and chewy. The Louisiana lightning had a nice kick but wasn't too spicy, so if you're a heat wimp it's still enjoyable. My only draw back was they put on a little too much oregano for my liking as it seemed to over power the rest of the sandwich. The ranch chicken was delicious nice ranch flavor but not oozing too much dressing. Definitely will be back. read more

TJ's just lost a customer. Ordered potato salad for the 4th. Called the day before to see if it was a good time to come down and pick it up. I was told to come right down. I get there and tell the owner Tim I am here to pick up the potato salad I ordered and he flips out, starts yelling at me that I can't just come down there and expect for him to wait on me as he had other customers waiting. My order was already prepared and prepaid for. I was completely polite and asked everyone online if they were being helped before I approached the counter. Tim obviously doesn't handle stress well and does not possess an ounce of customer service skills. I left without saying a word but I have no intentions of giving them any additional business.
