After my yoga class I was hungry. I needed to eat. I checked my bookmarks and again I found one I've had for awhile. "Carman Street Deli" is a hidden gem and definitely worth the visit. I almost thought my GPS was wrong, it was taking me down a residential street. But right after a parking lot, I saw the deli. It almost looks like a house converted into a deli, but I found out from Kelly, it use to be a pharmacy. Like I said inside was Kelly, a wonderful fun spirited person. She asked what I needed and after a little back and forward joking, she made my wheat wrap. We talked a little more while she made it and was never without a smile. She made my meal herself to order so it was nice and hot. Kelly pointed out she put a note on it so I knew where the top was (how many places do that for there customers?). When I sat down on the tall boy seating to eat my breakfast I was pleasantly surprised. The sandwich was perfect! It tasted like something you make at home, no commercial flaws. Kelly fried my egg, the bacon was abundant and crispy, she used plenty of cheese and put it all on a wheat wrap! Bravo! Kelly understands that a person impacts customer experience, not the glitz and glamor of a new building. Help support a local business and head there. Try the wrap and see if I'm wrong.

My diet is very restricted due to GERD and lactose intolerance. It's frustrating to find foods that…read moreare safe for me to eat. Sometimes I also need to find low or no sodium, and low or no sugar products for my family, even more frustrating, so I make my own homemade bread, pancakes, cookies and etc. However, sometimes I don't have the time to spend preparing and baking my own foods. And, I also crave foods that I can't make at home such as cereal and milk. I just made calls to various supermarkets which are located close to my home to inquire if they had a certain brand of vegan bread. I predicted from past experience that the answer would be no, and I was right. My last call was made to ShopRite, as usual they carry the product that I was looking for. I appreciate ShopRite's buyer, because of them, my belly is full and I have more time to enjoy the summer! Thank you!!!!! P.S. I'm not from California?

We're a small family so I called to report the error after sending an e-mail complaint. I did not get a reply so I called again. When I got someone on the line they argued with me and said no refund until "I" get the item back to them! I explained that they made the error, they have to come and pick it up. They refused to help in any way! I'm done with this particular location and going back to the Selden location who are friendly and helpful.

Random fact: this used to be a Waldbaums…read more Overall this is a very nice King Kullen, one with a pharmacy too! (Or Chemist, if you're from Europe or are an Aussie.) Nice to still see this in 2026. This location is kept clean, most of the staff are nice, and I'm happy to report that I've been noticing a lot more Organic/Non-GMO stuff available to buy, ditto for Gluten free mixed in with the oldie-but-goodie items, which tend to cater to their majority Gen X and Baby Boomer aged customers. There's a bus stop for SCT routes 6, 51, and 53 at the Waverly Ave entrance, which is convenient. Plus it says open until 22:00 (10 pm). Only complaints are: Items/foodschtuffs are costly (aka typical King Kullen prices), Restrooms tend to be dirty (had to duck into the ladies room once, was a bit cleaner than the mens), The location is in an odd area. Waverly Ave south of Sunrise is a rough-ish part of town, but north of Sunrise tends to be nicer. Keep this in mind if you walk, bike, or take the bus. With all this being said, I'm happy for the Cullen Family and to see King Kullen continue to be a landmark business unique to Long Island, still making LIers proud!

The line is usually long and she is very slow. When there is an issue, and there always is an issue that early in the morning, no manager can be found. I've seen so many people just drop their stuff and leave because the line doesn't move. Add to the employee issue, their refrigeration systems have been having problems for 6 months or more. Often I go in there and the refrigerated and freezer sections have mops and towels along the sections. I've returned yogurt, chicken and beef to this location 3 times in the past 3 months. Be careful what you are buying. If you think the Sayville location is a better bet, think again, that location is worse and the store is filthy!!!

There was quite a bit of wait in the deli section. But ALL the staff were in good spirits & friendly. And they also have a large organic & vegetarian section if that's your thing. It ain't my thing but I have vegetarian friends so I'm always looking for unique choices for them. Stop through, it's a nice store. 1-22-2016
