An interesting concept - the place looks and feels upscale, but the prices aren't jacked up unnecessarily. You pay for the quality you get and the ingredients you order, period. I have to respect that. There's a nice beer selection on tap, especially some of the seasonal and micro brews. I didn't order all that much, but what I had was perfectly done and seasoned. As for desserts, there's an automatic 1-star deduction - everything on the menu is brought in frozen, and the portions are small. Is it that hard to find fresh desserts nearby if you don't have the skill set to make them yourself? I do respect them for being honest about it, though. So I had the waffles, which are in fact made on premises, and I was very glad with that choice. tl;dr: Whatever you get for dinner, enjoy the beer selection and finish with the waffles. read more

I have to say I was really impressed with this place. The food was outstanding. I stuck with a classic - bacon cheeseburger - and my friend had some tortellini. Both dishes were great and really hit the spot. The fries with my burger were small in size and a tad bland, but still okay. What really impressed me was the atmosphere and the bar. TJ Smiths had a classy yet hip environment with soft lighting and a spacey seating area. To the right of the entrance is the bar, where there is an impressive selection of beer and beverages. I chose to go fruity and light and had a Sparkling Razz and Dragonberry Cosmo. I was happy with my decision, and the bartender was awesome (her name was Sarah). I guess you get what you pay for but if you go to a restaurant I think you expect to be served food that was prepared for you and not dumped out of a box. I ordered the fish and chips. It was obvious the fish was frozen and from a box. It was dripping with grease and barely edible. The "chips" were French fries and they were cold. The slaw was flavorless. My wife ordered a salad with grilled steak, the meat was cold, chewy, dry and overly spiced. My daughter ordered the penne with vodka sauce. She finished her plate so she must have liked it. After a long day of traveling, I came in to TJ Smith's with a couple of business associates for dinner. We were greeted and sat immediately. The restsurant was fairly quiet, but it was a little later on a Sunday night. We ordered a bottle of wine (I was fairly impressed with their wine list. I expected an establishment like this to have more standard choices, but there was a nicely balanced and international selection), and started with the crab-stuffed mushrooms. The appetizer came out quickly and was very tasty! For entrees, we ordered the crab ravioli (house made ravioli with wild caught blue crab), the seafood mac and cheese, and the Caesar salad with blackened chicken (with homemade Caesar dressing). We all added either a side Caesar Salas or French onion soup. The salads and soup were delish! The homemade dressing is spot on here! The entrees: worthy of the four stars here. SO good, and honestly, unexpectedly so. The decor is more "sports bar". The food (at least the entrees) were upscale. We were feeling saucy and decided to order dessert. One lava cake a la mode and a flourless chocolate torte later, we were ready to roll back to our hotel across the street. I was at TJ's last night and I have to say that the management should be commended for the way they handled an unruly large party( approximately 30 people) They had an altercation with a table in the same room after their children started blowing noisemakers. They were asked to have the children calm down so everyone could enjoy their evening. When management got involved the "adults" responded with profanity and started throwing drinks and plate wear on the floor. They were yelling that they weren't going to pay the bill and that they weren't kid friendly. Needless to say the police were called which was very necessary. Kids are going to be kids and are most certainly welcome but we all know there is a line that needs to be drawn especially in a public place. read more

I've gone here three times and I just don't like this place. The first time we went I think was right after they opened and they gave us a menu and the only thing my mom and I wanted on the menu was the thing that was sold out and they didn't tell us until after we ordered and it was just a whole long experience. The second was last September. time I got chicken Marsala with potatoes and some vegetable. It was good, nothing spectacular. Our waiter was not very nice and kind of an idiot/ mildly insulting. So that was a good experience. We went on Thursday to play trivia, solely for trivia and then after seating us down right when our waitress came over to get our orders, the hostess told us we're not doing trivia because of the Eagles game. That just put us in an awkward spot because we had all eaten, but one from our party, and so I just wanted to leave because I was only there for trivia to get a drink maybe some apps. It was not posted online or even made aware to the hostess. That's just poor management. The drink menu wasn't even updated it still had summer drinks on it even though it's October. There were no other specials. Our waitress was not friendly in the slightest and seemed very impatient. I'm always sympathetic to wait staff because I know their job is hard but she was just rude. The drinks prices were unlisted and and rather expensive considering the one drink our party ordered was mostly juices/soda. The table was also disgusting their were onions stuck to the sides of the table that got on us. You can tell it's not cleaned well. Not to mention the fact that the place is always really dark, which just hides how gross it is. I won't be back. I've heard of other people with bad experiences as well and people who went for a particular event for it to be cancelled. So this isn't a one time thing. Getting a table on a Friday night was slow even though we had called ahead for seating, so we stopped by the bar for a drink while we waited. The bar was packed, but the bar tenders were quite friendly and quick to service us. Once seated the service was quick, but did feel like we were being rushed through our meals. I ordered the guacamole bacon burger. The burger was pretty lackluster, and the guacamole was flavorless and a little too viscous, all running off the burger as I grabbed the bun to get my first bite. The dominating flavor of the meal was the onion that it was topped with. The wife had seafood Mac and cheese which she said was very good. Beer selection was good and they had a decent amount of seasonal beers to choose from. This visit was exactly what I recall from the last time I visited about 6 years ago, which unfortunately is not enough to lure me back anytime soon. read more

Got food poisoning from their food. Tonight I ordered their special tonight, the rib eye steak that cost me $27. It was cooked at different temperatures all over the steak, and now I'm on the toilet for the rest of the night. My date had the vodka penne and got an add on of the chicken. The chicken was so dry and tasted like cardboard. Not to mention the pasta was extremely salty. While we were eating, they were taking the tables and chair down and away and setting up for a buffet for the next day. There were still people eating in the restaurant and it was completely rude and distracting to have them making noise and set up for the next day before 9pm. 2 beers and 2 entrées equaled $75. My wife and I had read the Yelp reviews, and some of them were ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. Childish people blowing all sorts of minutia into huge mountains. Both of us rate this place a solid FOUR STARS--maybe more. We keep "light Kosher," so we cannot rate everything---but what we had was delicious. This was my first time here, and it was my birthday. We decided to try this restaurant, that we had seen for many years. I ordered the fish tacos and my wife ordered the salmon. The waitress, Arianna, was excellent. Always available, and checking in----refilling our drinks and waters, as desired. The meal started out with a Caesar salad. A bit small, but delicious I make my own Caesar salads, and frankly, mine is excellent. TJ Smith's was darn close. Only the croutons could have been slightly improved---but they were house-made. Excellent dressing, good grated cheese. Fish was excellent. Three nice tacos with a side of rice and black beans. Garnishes of salsa and guacamole, on the side. My wife's salmon was excellent----exactly as ordered. House was flexible as to sides and vegetables....and delicious. Coffee and Ice tea were excellent. Dessert of small apple pie tart with ice cream, was perfectly made. Excellent service. We'll be back. p.s. We went on a Saturday night. Lots of help. TJ Smith's is a delightful rarity as far as dining experiences go. Upon entering I was extremely impressed with the lovely host and staffs friendly greeting and the classy yet casual interior of the restaurant. You have a choice of sitting at their large super inviting bar or comfortable tables for a meal. Our waiter was awesome. Super attentive and informative/suggestive with the menu since it was our first time. If I hadn't been won over at this point the moment the appetizers arrived would have done it. From the starters to when our entrees arrived everything was gorgeously displayed/garnished and amazingly delicious. Each dish was out of this world. Definitely a new favorite of mine! read more

We ordered from the app on the website. The pickup options included "curbside", which I chose because it involves less contact. Most places that do curbside have designated parking and a way to notify the restaurant when you arrive. Then they put the order in your backseat. But this was not the case with TJ Smith's. I had to put on my mask and enter the restaurant to pick up my order. It's not a big deal because I had my mask with me and there was ample parking. But the offer of curbside pickup on the app is misleading. But the food was great once I got it home! read more

Been here multiple times now - dinner, lunch, sunday brunch, sunday football, nice time all around. Great alternative to all the chain restaurants in the area with decent food. Most recently stopped in and noticed their sunday football specials - $5 select appetizers (full portion size) and drink specials! We bellied up to a nearly empty bar and ordered a great deal of appetizers. We didn't realize it was full size, so when it all started coming out from the kitchen we were shocked - deff had take home! I really enjoyed the calamari - too much for one person to finish. Fried nicely, crunchy how I like it, not super fishy tasting. The personal pizza left a bit to be desired, too much flour left on the dough, way too much flour so I don't know if I'd order that again. Pretzels, half moon motz, a few beers, and a burg for the fiance and we enjoyed catching the 4qtr of the game. Bar service was super friendly and kept our drinks filled. Dinner service is on the slower side, and the joint gets packed. We're a fan of the clam appetizer - the garlic broth is great. So make a reservation or come early. Their menu is big, varied, Sunday brunch buffet is very basic - but for the price you honestly cannot beat it. Service made for an anxiety-inducing experience. Our first server just walked away after my friend placed his order; had to call her back to take both of our orders. Once she finished placing the order she stormed away and threw the menus down angrily. She then disappeared and vanished into oblivion. Ordered the chips and guacamole for an appetizer; the guac had a strange fizzing sensation, not impressed, not worth the cost. However, entrees were great; turkey burger and beef burger both very juicy and well portioned. When you enter TJ Smith's you feel like you are entering a bar environment. Quite loud with TV's and a bar. Surrounding the bar and in an adjoining space are tables for dining. The noise is mostly due to a very open environment with almost no walls, no carpet, and high warehouse style ceilings. Once we figured out who to see to get a table (we went in the bar entrance) we were promptly seated. Service throughout the meal was good, except for one small issue with the bill (they charged add-ons as separate items). Food was good. It is what you expect to find at most American restaurants/bars, but a slight step up in quality and quantity. One neat feature was a box of conversation starters on the table with questions you can ask your dinner party. A nice touch. read more

However, with the dimmed lights inside, it led to a pleasant dining experience. TJ Smith's offers something for everyone, both in price and choices of food. One could spend a reasonable amount of money on a wrap, or do what I did and got a tasty entree for a little bit more. I ordered an Asian barbecue salmon, which was topped with fried wontons and fried green beans. I certainly recommend this, as it was tasty. They also have an extensive drink menu, including what our server called the Beer Bible. I had one of their rotating seasonal brews, a Weyerbacher Winter Ale, and I was not disappointed. Then came dessert. I enjoyed a generous helping of Belgian waffles and ice cream, which was their dessert special that night. The food was hit or miss. sister had shrimp on a roll - which was TOO "bready", Buffalo Wings were not Hot (spicy) and were undercooked (pink chicken is NOT GOOD) . Onion soup was "ok". Fortunately - i OUT ORDERED everyone...... I started with their Clams Casino special App & it was VERY TASTY -- I could have eaten a dozen for dinner - who needs an entree? Seriously - if you go there & the clams are on special GET THEM. I had the turkey reuben for dinner & it was oh so VERY GOOD. The side of veggies (my choice) were lame but the sandwich was awesome. The place is always a good mix casual to nicer. Can be noisy at times. The food is always good. Especially love the entrees seems more attention is put on them as it should be for the cost . I had a lunch meeting here today. My first impression was that it was pretty loud even though there were not that many people there. We were seated in a nice roomy booth along the front wall and were taken care of by the lovely Emily who was friendly, attentive and very easy on the eyes! I'm afraid that my colleagues and I lacked imagination when it came to ordering. We each had the Turkey Wrap, I went out on a limb and ordered swiss cheese on mine once I discovered they had the technology to put cheese on my sandwich:) So I can't be too harsh on the place what we got was good pub fare, the service was very good and the pricing fair. Once I'm in a more imaginative mood I'll go back and order something that requires me to exercise my use of vocabulary more extensively as well as my tastebuds and report back....but I will definitely head back next chance I get. It was quieter than inside and pretty peaceful, and the weather was great!! The service was pretty quick and the good was pretty good. Restaurant has a fun, relaxed atmosphere. There is outdoor seating, which I have't tried yet, and an indoor bar, which was pretty full on a Saturday early evening. The booths are very large and comfortable. The service is good and attentive. The food is good, nothing wrong, but nothing special. My dinner arrived at the table stone cold, but the server happily heated it up and returned it and it was properly prepared the second time. I would definitely try this place again. read more

My sister and I were in town visiting family and went to TJ's 3 nights in a row, because once we got to enjoy the atmosphere, food and drinks we did not feel the need to go anywhere else at the end of the evening to unwind. The great: Fish tacos, burgers (ask for sweet potato fries!), broad variety of beers, and generous *cocktails! The '*Could Have Been Better': Fancy signature drinks will not appease more sophisticated palettes (I've worked with great beverage crafters, so I am spoiled) and I would have liked to see a better liquor selection for the classics. Still, I had a decent Bombay martini and satisfying Maker's Manhattan. The bartender quipped "So all the girls in Georgia drink bourbon, huh?"
