They have some high end brands bags, clothes, and shoes because of the nice area. I always find something good for me here. Variety: Good. Not so many men's. Customer service: Just ok. They look too busy to say hi. Parking: Street or valet. I parked on a street on Sun, which means free. Location: A great shopping area:)

Found some cute summer colors at half the price they'd be at a normal beauty supply-$4 Essie

I've spent the last 4 months of my life filling and decorating my new home and I don't know how I could have done it without the help of all of the TJ Maxx stores within a 25 mile radius. I blew through my budget with quality furniture so when it comes to the smaller accent pieces--candles, toss pillows, high-thread count sheets, kitchenware, baskets, etc, I scale back and supplement my Pottery Barn/Crate & Barrel binges with discounted items. This location is pretty prime because it's in fancy Friendship Heights so they usually have nicer home brands. To dispel a common myth: things aren't discounted because they're damaged, it's usually just department store leftovers and I could care less if my housewares are last season. And real talk you must have patience, you're not going to "clean up" every time you go but they get deliveries regularly so check back as often as you can. I work down the road so there have been times when I'm there 2 or 3x a week, ahh the thrill of a bargain chase :-)

Thanks for harassing us out of your store!

My husband was carrying the backpack I bring to work every day (city life=backpack life, am I right?). I'm not sure if it was backpack, or because my husband is brown, but I have never felt so unwelcome in my life. We were followed by two guards who would not stop staring while talking to each other. We went to other parts of the store--they were never more than a rack away, and they checked the racks that we left. When I wanted to try on clothes, the woman working at the fitting room counted my clothes herself (wouldn't allow me to), and then stopped me to count them again, and then AGAIN, while snidely telling me that she couldn't remember if she had counted 9 or 10 items (the limit is 10, so it doesn't matter--unless they physically count every customer's items three times?). I was pumped to find cool threads, but after being followed, confronted, and harassed, I left them behind. Just have a no backpack policy (or no non-white people with a backpack policy?).

Saks in Chevy Chase is a throwback to a more genteel era. Stores like this used to have snooty…read morereputations but nowadays I always find the staff very friendly and welcoming. While the standalone men's store across the District line is now sadly gone, the third floor is now the men's department and has just a good of a selection as the old store. What I like about Saks compared to Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales is that Saks still has a top notch, high quality private label collection of menswear basics. In addition, their sales can be great, especially on the private label clothes. The new parking lot arrangement is very odd. When you park you have to scan a QR code, pay for parking, and then Saks can give you a discount code inside that makes it free. It's a lot of steps for what used to be just handing over a validation ticket. Given that the clientele here skews quite old, I can't imagine this change has gone over well. If you are a regular customer, your sales associate can register your plate and then you don't need to go through this whole rigamarole each time.

I called their customer service about it. The wait was not too long. The customer service representative could not find anything about it. He seemed annoyed by my request. He gave me the phone number of a third party company that handles their credit card transaction to confirm whether the transaction went through or was a hold. He was ready to hang up to get rid of me. Why should I call a different company? Anyways, I did it, after being on hold for 20 minutes, the other representative was just as clueless, did not ask for any information. Once I told him it was an amex card, he told me they only handle visa and mastercard transactions. Now I need to call Saks again to find the subsidiary that handles their amex transaction?! What a horrible waste of time, and inefficient workflow. They should have audit logs in place for their representatives to access and understand what went wrong. They just had zero explanation and wasted my time for nothing.

Plenty of Michael Stars, 525 America Sweaters, and some other more unusual very unique boutique lines. A small store with extremely well-selected inventory. But the highlight of Wear it Well, which I feel is best for women 30 and up, is the longtime owners and employees. I walked in today, told them I wanted to toss my wardrobe out the window, and they proceeded (not overselling, not oversolicitously) to help me come up with some great ideas, good combinations, and a host of things I wouldn't have picked out b/c I'm stuck in my own dull clothing groove. They really worked with me to ensure that I found some special things, and I don't think I'll toss the clothes I bought out the window with the others b/c they do push my proverbial envelope. That's what I needed. When the economy hits hard...and even when it doesn't...I make an extra effort to shop locally. Wear it Well is the kind of carefully merchandised, very well-run boutique that will earn your loyalty. Before you drive to the mall, walk down the street and visit these great gals. Watch out...they talked me into buying an absurdly expensive belt even though I don't wear belts. You know, I think it will become one of my favorite purchases ever! Plus, it's so pricey, I'm going to wear it to sleep every night no matter what.

You really can't go wrong with this brand. The shoes are in style without being over-the-top, quite comfortable, and well-constructed. I've been so impressed with one particular loafer - the Keating Venetian - that it's become my go-to everyday shoe, having bought a couple extra pairs to have in reserve. Even after almost daily wear, each pair has lasted several years, making them not only good-looking shoes but a great value as well. If you're foot is wide, like mine, you'll be pleased to know that a regular-width shoe will more than likely fit you quite comfortably, meaning that you'll have more to choose from, as wider widths often aren't available in other brands. Keep an eye out for their sales, where you can score significant discounts (often in the 30-40% range if you time it right), and while you can order online, you should visit Lana and her colleagues in Friendship Heights instead. See you at the next sale!
