However, I was about to go…read moreon a trip and I was already here so I decided to go inside and see if they had anything to my liking. Being inside Ellsworth Place I really can't complain. As it is the only remaining shoe store in here now. You can tell it is a DSW before you even get near it with that totally white interior with the lights blazing out of the store. Inside, it's like every other store in the chain. White walls, white ceiling, white floors, aisle upon aisle of shoes. No rhyme or reason as to how they put their stock out. I went through the men's section and was about to leave when I found what I wanted to look at on a display in the main aisle. No organization to this but to just hope that a box that had your size on it might be something they have on display. After rummaging through this pile of boxes I did find something I wanted. I will give it too them, even though this is a massive store, they were still able to pop up out of nowhere to see if I needed any help finding anything. Like you as an employee has any idea what you have in stock any more than I as a customer knows. I declined and went about my business and made my way to the register. Did I mention I hate shopping for shoes. It might be because I used to work for a shoe store and knew what was about to hit me at the register. The attempt to sale me more items to go with my shoes. No, I don't want your socks, sealants, or any other magical potions. Then they ask if you want to sign up for their rewards program. Ma'am, does it look like I care about shoes that much? But the price was what got me or I wouldn't have been in line to checkout.

It's up stairs on the top floor, to your right when you take the escalator. It is huge! I still haven't got the lay of the land in this new incarnation. I headed back to the clearance racks. I didn't need new shoes. I was looking for something smaller, like socks or a scarf. Something to spend my five dollar birthday credit that DSW gives you every year. Well, hello 80s! Scrunchies are back. I bought a four pack with a green tag which means 50% off. Which also meant... FREE! I'm a happy birthday girl!

These are honestly some of the most comfortable heels I've ever worn. The cushioning and support are on another level stylish enough for work or events, but comfortable enough to wear all day without feeling like your feet are on fire. The store itself was clean, organized, and easy to shop, and the staff was very helpful in finding the right size and style. They explained the different comfort features and made sure I found a pair that fit perfectly. If you're looking for heels that combine style with real comfort, Cole Haan is the place to go. Worth every penny!

Lana, the quite personable salesperson who was assisting me,…read morehelped me find the item that I had found online and was interested in, despite the fact that I couldn't remember the name of the shoe - all I had to do was describe it and she knew exactly which shoe it was! You really can't go wrong with this brand. The shoes are in style without being over-the-top, quite comfortable, and well-constructed. I've been so impressed with one particular loafer - the Keating Venetian - that it's become my go-to everyday shoe, having bought a couple extra pairs to have in reserve. Even after almost daily wear, each pair has lasted several years, making them not only good-looking shoes but a great value as well. If you're foot is wide, like mine, you'll be pleased to know that a regular-width shoe will more than likely fit you quite comfortably, meaning that you'll have more to choose from, as wider widths often aren't available in other brands. Keep an eye out for their sales, where you can score significant discounts (often in the 30-40% range if you time it right), and while you can order online, you should visit Lana and her colleagues in Friendship Heights instead. See you at the next sale!

Saks in Chevy Chase is a throwback to a more genteel era. Stores like this used to have snooty…read morereputations but nowadays I always find the staff very friendly and welcoming. While the standalone men's store across the District line is now sadly gone, the third floor is now the men's department and has just a good of a selection as the old store. What I like about Saks compared to Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales is that Saks still has a top notch, high quality private label collection of menswear basics. In addition, their sales can be great, especially on the private label clothes. The new parking lot arrangement is very odd. When you park you have to scan a QR code, pay for parking, and then Saks can give you a discount code inside that makes it free. It's a lot of steps for what used to be just handing over a validation ticket. Given that the clientele here skews quite old, I can't imagine this change has gone over well. If you are a regular customer, your sales associate can register your plate and then you don't need to go through this whole rigamarole each time.

I called their customer service about it. The wait was not too long. The customer service representative could not find anything about it. He seemed annoyed by my request. He gave me the phone number of a third party company that handles their credit card transaction to confirm whether the transaction went through or was a hold. He was ready to hang up to get rid of me. Why should I call a different company? Anyways, I did it, after being on hold for 20 minutes, the other representative was just as clueless, did not ask for any information. Once I told him it was an amex card, he told me they only handle visa and mastercard transactions. Now I need to call Saks again to find the subsidiary that handles their amex transaction?! What a horrible waste of time, and inefficient workflow. They should have audit logs in place for their representatives to access and understand what went wrong. They just had zero explanation and wasted my time for nothing.

The prices are to die for, especially in DC where most vintage or thrift stores are anything but thrifty. The shop owner, Sylvia, is such a sweet lady. She gave me a great deal on some amazing pieces I would have easily paid double for and still would have walked out thinking I got a good price. Needless to say I will be going back again and again and will do my best to spread the word about this lovely little gem. I am almost a bit hesitant to share this with too many of my friends, as I want to make sure I get all the goodies, but there seemed to be plenty to go around and the shop owner is just too nice and lovely to not help support. Go there - you will find something you love. Great place to buy gifts!!!

Essentially its hours now are Thursday-Sunday 3-6 pm. Even if the door is locked, just knock and the shopkeeper will let you in. - The owner (Sylvia) is going to start transitioning the clothes to the spring season... coming in a couple of weeks or so! - On that note, the shop's strong suit are the accessories -- lots of nice cocktail hats/handbags/jewelry. Examine closely, because pretty much everything in there's for sale. - Starting next week she's going to start making prices static. Yeah, no more haggling, but at least it will be a lot less pressure for those who are uncomfortable with negotiating. In conjunction, some of the prices of the clothing will be adjusted... so maybe that amazing paillette jacket will be cheaper now? Also, I've learned something recently, having become acquainted with the owner. Y'know how it might be kind of intimidating/irritating when the shopkeeper tries to talk to you/make comments about what you're browsing? Well, I always found it that way. All in all, it's just the keeper trying to be friendly, not necessarily trying to pressure you into buying something. Ain't nothin' wrong with trying to be nice.
