I called their customer service about it. The wait was not too long. The customer service representative could not find anything about it. He seemed annoyed by my request. He gave me the phone number of a third party company that handles their credit card transaction to confirm whether the transaction went through or was a hold. He was ready to hang up to get rid of me. Why should I call a different company? Anyways, I did it, after being on hold for 20 minutes, the other representative was just as clueless, did not ask for any information. Once I told him it was an amex card, he told me they only handle visa and mastercard transactions. Now I need to call Saks again to find the subsidiary that handles their amex transaction?! What a horrible waste of time, and inefficient workflow. They should have audit logs in place for their representatives to access and understand what went wrong. They just had zero explanation and wasted my time for nothing.

I get that sales associates will receive bonuses based on the number of customers that sign up for a card. After a customer says no for the second time, then the sale associate should stop. For instance, my sales associate asked if I wanted to sign up for a card, and I said no. He followed up with the typical "if you sign up for a CC, you'll save X% on today's purchase" statement. After I said no for the second, he let it go. In my opinion, that's what the other sales associate should have done. You can find metered parking & sometimes neighborhood parking. The store isn't the same. The inventory is smaller. If you take the time to look, you can find a discounted handbag or gift item. There is a security presence that keeps out any trouble. This is the "scene of the crime" where I once knocked over a giant rack of shoes & the employee was nice about it. That would not happen now. They barely have any shoes. The register line can get long downstairs. There is another register area upstairs. I'm rooting for the store and hoping that things continue to improve. At least there were several employees on the floor. I didn't feel like an inconvenience on this visit.
