TJ maxx in San Carlos engages in false advertisement. They had multiple identical items with two different TJ maxx price tags on it and refused to honor the lower price. The store manager on duty proceeded to cut the lower prices off in front of me and refused to honor it. There were however many other of the same items on the shelf with both price tags and I was able to get pictures. read more

I live down the street from this Home Goods/Tj Max and the selections of items are very nice but the check out lines are terrible.I purchased a wall hanging and waited in line 45 minutes to check out with only 4 checkers to serve customers.I also went to the Almaden/SJ store and purchased items to see 12 active check out counters available. I love TJ Maxx and this is one of the bigger stores as its attached to a Homegoods store. I always find good things here. If I can stay away long enough, and I do because I live in Las Vegas, but I always stop in here when I'm in the area. Today's haul was quite big and it wasn't even 'crowded' in the sense that the line was not very long at all, being that its 2 days before Christmas. I had quite the pleasant shopping experience today. Some of their winter coats are on clearance and I was able to snag one on clearance for $49.99. Saving $20 off TJ Maxx's price but even more off retail if I bought it elsewhere. And honestly did I need another winter coat, with winters not being as cold these past few years? Why yes, because I'm a Maxxinista. Who remembers that term? I also got.my daughter a moto jacket she's been looking for, and a few sweaters that caught my eye. I always leave this store happy and as I said, I'll be back whenever I visit the bay area. read more

Went to T.J. Maxx over the weekend. The line to pay for merchandise was over 30 mins +. Every time we're here, the wait is always long. Why can't they have self check out lines? Why do they let so many non service animals come to the store as well? We have a toddler with severe allergies to animals. I saw this dog licking all the merchandise on the check out aisle to pay. The owners don't care and just laugh it off. Who knows what other merchandise has been licked? This store is a hot mess! read more

Bad experience here today. I bought a stamp kit for my granddaughter and it doesn't work well. The images don't print out well, just blobs. I was at Cupertino and the girl there said no problem bring it back. I brought it back to the store here in San Carlos and felt like I was arguing with the young store supervisor or manager. First she said I had to take it back to Cupertino! She stamped it herself on a sheet of paper, but not the book and insisted that it worked well. I suggested she stamp the book but said she "had" to do it on her own paper. Trying to compare an adults pressure on the stamp versus a child is not reasonable. The paper in the book was more porous and did not create a defined impression. Several adults tried it last night and it did not work either. It was a $3.99 item. The only reason I brought it back was because the associate st Cupertino said it wasn't a problem. Why would you give a customer a hard time about a defective item when they spend so much at your store otherwise. She needs better she needs better training. Her comment was "I'll do it as a courtesy but in the future...". I'd think there's a store policy that applies to all stores. read more

Located next to 101 freeway, is TJ Maxx. Parking lot is always thriving. You'll never find it empty, unless it's a holiday. My favorite thing to do, is look at the jewelry counter, and around the kitchen items. I haven't had the best luck with clothes, I love looking at dresses and their selection is low in my opinion. They do have public restrooms, always a plus. Lines are long these days, you need to be patient if you intend on purchasing anything. This is the end of summer 2021 and the dressing rooms are open. Went there this morning had a very rude cashier. My husband and I had several items. I decided I didn't want an item. She immediately had an outward attitude. I don't appreciate rude and prejudice people. She called a price check about a pillow we purchased as if we changed the price. Which was the correct price. Shame on the rude register person. This TJ Maxx is combined with a Home Goods store so you can get a lot of your shopping needs done at one time. I was looking specifically for a pair of sunglasses to repair the ones I had just lost. Their selection wasn't that big, but I got what I needed, was able to check out at the accessory counter and was on my way out within a few minutes. I think the experience here is as good as you can expect it for an outlet store. The staff is more engaged with each other and their phones than with the customers, but I wouldn't have expected otherwise. More importantly, they seemed to have a wide selection of items to choose from which is good for any bargain shopper looking to stock up on their next item. read more

This store doubles as a Home Goods, so uh, yep. I'm a total fan. I typically start out on the Home Goods side, and then venture on over to the TJ Maxx side. You can definitely come here every week and find new things; each "store" is well stocked with goodies for your home and clothing. I like to stock up on eccentric wrapping paper and gift bags from Home Goods. Be sure to browse the end displays in each department. You can find great clearance items. TJ Maxx offers great deals on name brand clothing, shoes, and accessories. All departments are well stocked when I visit. Yes. Things can get messy, but I think the employees do a great job of checking the aisles and clearing things up. The line can. Get. L.O.N.G. LONG. However, the employees work quickly. This TJMaxx is connected to the equally large HomeGoods so it's just a megastore. Their women's clothing here is not that great. I sifted through many racks and didn't find much of interest, even disregarding price. The women's handbags and wallets are more interesting. Saw some Milly, Michael Kors, Ralph Lauren, etc. I even saw a Frye bag (but it was a bit ugly). The shoes had some hidden gems (Ralph Lauren shoes) but organization was not that great. read more

When entering the store it is made very apparent that you are not welcome, by customers and associates. POC be aware when shopping here. ***We were followed the entire time we shopped. My friend and I shared a shopping cart and when checking out the cashier was visibly on edge, stared at my items that were sitting in the cart & asked if we were paying separately. My friend replied yes and when it was my turned I pushed the cart to the side so that I can stand on the social distance marker, the cashier unobtrusively jumps and began to look around as I moved the cart with my unpaid items still inside. Once I put the items on the counter she began staring at my credit card until I had to ask her can she process the transaction so that the pinpad could respond to my chip. She pressed the button, handed me the receipt and pushed my item towards me. I asked her for a bag and she "kindly" opened one for me lolllllllsosadlolll A lot of you won't understand the discomfort and worry in this shopping experience but many will. This place is a tad better than a Ross. I was very excited when I pulled up, seeing as how there were two huge signs (and entrances) saying TJ Maxx and Home Goods. Walking in it felt like any other ordinary TJ's, however I must say the selection here SUCKED! I thoroughly enjoy clearance items, and where as other stores have sections clearly marked WITH clearance items, this place had SOME sections marked with BARELY ANY clearance items. Also the staff are a little slow here. Thanks to a little girl named Camille it took me an extra 5 minutes to get out of the store, because someone can't remember 4 numbers (AmEx card security stuff) The only reason this place gets a one star is because I found bibs as part of a friends baby shower present for only .70 cents. =) read more

Always love coming to this store. I love how TJ Maxx and Home Goods are connected. That's always a plus. I always find everything and anything I want and more. This review is more for customer service rather than the store itself. I went to exchange a pair of pants my sister in law bought me as a gift. I didn't have a gift receipt and I didn't have her receipt. I wanted to change the size - even exchange. I was told that because I had no receipt, they couldn't do it. Without a receipt, most stores return the item for a gift card or store credit, and then you as the customer, can use the gift card for your new purchase. The manager gave me excuse after excuse that they needed the receipt. The tag on the pant didn't match the product. That's not my problem if you tagged your own item incorrectly. You were just lazy. I went to another TJ Maxx and did the transaction explained above, no problem. Great place for shopping. Not for returning if you have no receipt. There's always a way. read more

This TJMaxx is well stocked. I was surprised by the assortment of purses and clothes at this location. I recently visited a TJMaxx in the east bay and it barely had any purses and the clothes racks offered very few options. Since HomeGoods is connected to the store, the checkout line can get super long. Thankfully the front line supervisor appeared to be cognizant of the line and would page over the store's intercom for more cashiers. I went in not looking for anything in particular and left with some holiday pjs for the family. read more

Girl at the jewelry counter clearly hates her job. She didn't greet me, just said "do you need help?" i replied yes. She said "so are you ready?" Yea I do need help and I'm ready bc I've been waiting at the counter for 15 mins at this point. Not to mention the line was wrapped around the back of the store and they can't ring up jewels and clothing at the same time. After waiting for someone in jewelry to get the purse for me, I was then told that I couldn't purchase it in the jewelry department, even though the purse department and jewelers department are in the same location and the lady from jewelry helped me. I was then directed to stand in the regular line which was super long. It took me one hour to purchase 1 purse. Dysfunctional store. read more

Love love this place, especially because it's a rare place that's also attached to a 'Home Goods,' ands these kind of "off price" outlet type warehouse deals I can always snag something great, for an incredible price. This is what I consider to be the "higher end" of a Ross, though that's my bias and not necessarily the case. This store is larger than most and full always of things you find you more want than need--clothing, home things (independent of the store next door), shoes and accessories plus bathroom and kitchen things. The try-on rooms usually have long lines, as do the cash registers in front but otherwise the customer service is on the ball. The prices are excellent, e.g. we got incredibly themed gift wrapping paper here for only $4 each, which everyone raved about, thinking they were super expensive, and btw, a third of the price of comparable paper at a drugstore. I was initially put pff when I stepped inside this location deeming it cavernous, but you quickly get over it. The parking is free in a shared front lot. read more

They were selling old nasty smell and probably expired Sonoma Coconut Oil (see pic)... been using coconut oil for my skin and everything was fine til i bought this one since all my brands were out of stock.. I had red bumps on my skin, itch and allergies that led me to go to a 911 doctor's check up and confirmed the allergies.. I tossed the coconut oil and bought the ones I'm really using since it had lots of stocks at trader joes.. My skin starts to improve soonest i start my usual oil... read more

This is the best TJ Maxx I've been to. It's huge, with lots of inventory and new stuff comes in every week. Most TJ Maxx's have a lot of random crap clothes from no-name brands. But here, I've seen a lot of higher end items. I got a BB Dakota jacket for $40 and some Paige jeans for $70. Those things usually sell for like $200+, putting them firmly outside my price range. The women's shoe selection is similarly wonderful, though smaller than for clothes. The only downside is the store does get a bit crowded on weekends. The line gets frighteningly long, but they have a lot of registers and I've never waited more than 10 minutes. The parking lot is also chaotic, but again, I've never been unable to find a spot. read more

Love the store. This review is in regards to the restrooms. We shop here quite a bit, typically after visiting the Starbucks or Chipotle across the parking lot & spend a considerable amount of time shopping. The facilities are truly disgusting & have been that way every single time my mother or myself have used them. I avoid them like the plague, but inevitably my caramel macchiato does me in & I have to go. Today when I walked in I was 1st assaulted by the smell, primarily due to the lack of ventilation in addition to the fact that it appeared not to have been cleaned. The trash piled up in the corner is simply uncalled for. Additionally, it is unsanitary & tacky to leave a paper towel role on the counter, instead of placing it in the paper towel dispenser. I attached some pictures. Even if the Store Manager doesn't care to address the issue, maybe someone from Corporate will care to investigate. read more

After standing in line for awhile - I got to the front with my returns. I had a shirt and some earrings which I had purchased the weekend before at the front registers... Judith told me I could not return the earrings at the front I had to go wait for someone in jewelry. I didn't understand why I could purchase these items up front and not return them. She condescendingly said "I don't know honey, the manager..." and then proceeded to ignore my presence at the check out. Finally, after I asked several more times she asked her co-worker if she could return the items and her co-worker said it was NO PROBLEM. She then argued with her co-worker about it. Finally, she did the returns with an extra special dash of rude. Besides the terrible customer service, the selection is okay. You can always count on finding something different ... the back corner of the homegoods section of the store is reserved for all the broken things they are trying to sell. It is usually a chaotic mess across the store, and the employees seem more intent on checking their personal cell phones rather than being personable. read more
