TJ Maxx is definitely a guilty pleasure for me because I never know what I am going to walk out buying. My friend and I visited this past Sunday to do some Christmas shopping and I ended up buying at least 2 or 3 of the items I needed. This location is actually a lot cleaner and more organized than other locations which was nice! It is located off of Marconi Ave in the same shopping center as Trader Joe's and Five Below. They had a ton of wrapping paper and lots of great items for stocking stuffers and White Elephant gifts. I love finding random items that I never knew I needed! I bought around 8 items for under $60 so it was definitely a good deal! Staff were friendly and the check out line moved quickly! read more

TJ Maxx is one of my family's favorite stores. They often come here just to peruse the items that are available...and there is quite a wide selection of items in the store. Even if it is a bit of a drive from our house, we do visit every now and then. The store is quite expansive, and quite well lit. Me and my poor eyes don't have to squint to read the fine print or even make use of my glasses. There's the odd item on the floor left behind by uncaring or reckless customers...especially on busy days, so a bit of care should be exercised when walking the aisles. The place does get crowded, especially on the weekends. Parking feels a bit limited, but of course, a public lot is never under the store's control. The price is reasonable. And the staff, if on hand, are very helpful...trying to be cheerful on crowded, busy days. There's a lot to see, so be prepared to spend an hour or more during your visit. Not a bad place to spend your time...and money. read more

Larry is one of the most unprofessional associates I have ever encountered at this franchise. I was simply browsing the store when he approached me in a confrontational manner. I opened a cologne to smell it before making a purchase decision, and he immediately told me, in a rude tone, that if I was going to smell it, I needed to buy it. I politely explained that I wouldn't want to purchase a cologne without knowing whether I liked the scent, but he responded by saying, "You're just going to have to buy it to find out." Throughout the interaction, he came across as aggressive, hostile, and unwelcoming, which made for a very uncomfortable shopping experience. Because of the way I was treated, I left the store and went to Ulta next door, where I received much better customer service. I ended up purchasing the cologne there, along with another one as a graduation gift for my cousin. As a result of this experience, I will not be returning to this location. I would strongly encourage management to address customer service concerns, as shoppers should not feel harassed or intimidated while simply trying to make a purchase decision. read more

This was my first time ever going into a TJ Maxx. It seems to be exactly like a Marshalls. They have the same tags and even a lot of the same items. The store was well organized and I loved the color coordination in the bath and beauty aisles, the store was clean and they have decent prices. I could spend hours in these stores as I love home decor. I'm sure my husband would rather me stay away. My son was with me today and everything I picked up he said, "you don't need that." I ended up getting some great stuff at great prices. It also seems that TJs and Marshall's are the only place I can find the coconut Pattie's I like for a good price. If I could give this place 0 stars, I would love to. Never did I thought I'd get discriminated while shopping for athletic wear, especially here. This was my favorite TJ Maxx to shop at until today. My sister and I came in looking for running shoes and decided to try on some athletic wears. I had taken off my jacket because it got too humid in the store and I hung it on my cart away from the other clothes that we were looking at. I did notice the amount of workers around us when we were in the store, but I just brushed it off because it's the holiday season so I tried to be understanding. We went to the fitting room and heard one of the workers say "yes I see them on the ear piece (referencing us)". As someone who had previously worked at a TJ Maxx, i understood the protocol and didn't think much about it until the next incident occurred. The worker had asked how many items we had in the cart and I politely told her to give me a second so I could separate it between the two of us to make things easier for her and she sighed. I decided to put my jacket back on because I didn't feel comfortable leaving it in the cart and she said "are you going to try that on too" and I said "oh no it's mine" and she goes "no, it's not". I was taken back by her tone and my younger sister didn't know how to respond. This never happened the previous times we've been there. Feeling uncomfortable and unwelcomed, we just went into the fitting room to discuss what we should do. We didn't want to purchase anything anymore knowing we weren't welcomed. As we left to return the clothes to her she made face as if she knew we weren't going to buy anything, didn't acknowledge us even. I find it very distasteful for someone to be so comfortable with treating another human being like this especially at a store that prides themselves on building connections with their customers. read more

If I could give the management 0 stars trust me I would. Short guy that always stands with security does absolutely nothing and has the worst customer service for being a "manager". Super rude and has a bug attitude. All I asked was if they had a specific aisle for skirts and he said no they are out of season look at the clearance section when their was clearly a rack of seasonal fall skirts. Prior to this , I had found an item that had no tags , no specific brand just a plain crop top, that are usually marked at $9.99 max, even the cashiers said its usually $9.99 since they had no design and no brand. He tried marking it up for $19.99 when there was another exact shirt marked down for $9.99. read more

I can find way fewer things I like to purchase. A lot of them do not even have decorations. But this TJ Maxx in Town & Country Village is one of the best-looking TJ Maxx. The store looks beautiful compared to the other TJ Maxx in the area. The merchandise inside the store is also better organized. This is a comfortable place to shop. It's not the worst one I've been to but it's also not the best. There is always a homeless person or a strange person outside since in my opinion it's not on the best part of town. They seem to over storm the store for the holidays so it's hard to get through the store with kids and a car seat...which doesn't fit in the carts! That's the most frustrating part. Some of the worst customer service around. They make it so hard to return anything. I had multiple returns with receipts. I could not find one receipt for a $16.99 blouse and the cashier literally called me a thief. She said she didn't know if I walked in and grabbed a random shirt or not. I found my receipt immediately after and she did not apologize. Rather she double downed and attempted to scold me for not having the receipt immediately upon entering. Additionally, I purchased a beauty item that I discovered was already used. I tried to return it and the cashier said it's my job to make sure I'm not purchasing used items. Such bs. I'm always excited to check out "discount" department stores like a TJ Maxx. This store actually impressed me with it's huge inventory available in men and women's apparel, along with jewelry, handbags, shoes and other accessories. The selections of clothing are stylish, expansive and almost over whelming. But that's the fun of serious shopping. There is also a house wares department that includes bed and bath, home décor, kitchen gadgets, cookware and other dining must haves. I wouldn't say that they are as discounted as much as I was hoping for, even with those comparative "before and after" prices displayed on the tags, but do expect to find unique, quality merchandise, and factor it in before making that all important purchase decision. I have found that if you see something you really like but the price is a deterrent, it might be best to take a chance and splurge. Otherwise you may never come across an item like that again! read more

I don't touch plastic bags. You never know what people do with them." All the while she was looking to her left at one of the other checkers. Very rude behavior. My review is mixed as the cashier was very nice and helpful, but I found the manager on duty to have very poor customer service, I think he was more interested in his conversation with the sercurity guard. I brought in a 6 pack of Halloween plates that I purchased on line in which part of them came in broken. I asked if I could return them and purchase the unbroken plates indiviudually (they sell them like that in the store) he abrubtly said no that is not are policy and just walked away. Before he walked away I let him now that there sister store, Marshall's, was fine doing that for me (I had another order this happened to also). His replied was that is not there policy. I found him after I finished with the cashier and let him know I thought his customer service skills were not very good and he replied that they were great. I then asked what they were going to do with my order, he told men it was none of my business. I said to him that I'm certain they will throw out the broken plates and put the good ones out for sale with a red tag. He stated that was not going to happen. I asked why wouldn't he just sale them to me. He told me I should leave and walked away. I'm sorry, he was rude and they are only plates. He could have been nice like Marshall's and made it so easy. Not sure when I'll shop there again, mean little bald, short man. I also won't ever order breakables on line again, they do not pack them well enough. Not a lot of selection here. It is much smaller than many TJ Maxxs I've been to. Most of the aisles were empty. Inside the store the associates were great! Outside, there was an associate named Barb who was way too distracted. She was in charge of making sure the store was not overcrowded due to the pandemic by only letting some people in at a time once others left the store. The problem was that she would go on her phone or talk to her friends and not notice when people came out of the store, which meant we were out waiting longer than needed. We pointed out to her that about 9 people walked out, can we go in? And she became upset saying she knows how to do her job. Sure, you know how to do it but you weren't actually doing it. Since we were polite about it, it was annoying for her to be upset with us when we just wanted to go in. She did let us in but made comments about how "some people" didn't know how to wait in line. Dang, this is the nicest looking TJ Maxx I've been to lol (I mean I've been to only a handful, but still). The first thing I noticed when entering is that this place is pretty spacious and has really good lighting; I didn't feel like I was shopping in a dungeon. There were no areas that seem to be ransacked and things were fairly organized. It's only a few days into November and they're already going ham on selling Christmas decorations lol they're not playing. With it being a large, nicely organized store, it's the perfect trap for shoppers who like to wander; I could easily spend hours here just looking at the knick knacks haha (had enough self-discipline not to though). read more

Definitely NOT one of my favorite TJ Maxx locations. The clothing selection was, well...lacking major selection. The juniors section seems very tiny; the dresses/rompers has such a tiny size small section ... they have more selection for size L/XL. All the clearance racks don't have much size small stuff.. If you're a frugal shopper like me, you hit up the "clearance sections" first then do a quick walk thru the regular priced items. I couldn't believe how small the sections were that housed "clearance" items. Talk 'bout slim pickings. *tears. Also, I didn't appreciate the vibe I received from the lady working the fitting rooms today (9/18, Wednesday around @2p). She didn't greet me when I walked up nor did she even acknowledge I was standing there. I had to greet her, say hello and basically help myself to a number. She double counted my items and was rude...she gave off a vibe like I would shoplift because she rechecked and dubchecked my items all carefully when I walked out. She didn't do that with the customer I was behind! Weird. Anyway, that's pretty much all I have to say about this 1st and last experience at this location. You never know what you're going to find here and I think that's the beauty of it. This Tj Maxx is in a great location! love that this one is right by Trader Joe's, Ulta, Sprout's, and Bed Bath and Beyond. I never have issues with parking here. This is one of my favorite places to get fuzzy socks, candles, and baskets. They always have things out for the holidays early. I love getting gift bags, ribbon, and wrapping paper here. It can be hit or miss but for the most part it's impossible to leave without finding one thing you like. Tj Maxx has great prices and there can be lots of hidden gems here. It's defiantly worth a visit as Christmas approaches. Fair warning, the lines can get long with the holiday season. read more

After shopping at TJ Maxx stores for many years, I recently had a very negative experience here. I attempted to return a pair of shoes which did not fit, with receipt. The cashier said that the soles were scuffed and that they could not be returned. I explained that the shoes looked brand new and that I had not noticed the scuffing on the soles when making the purchase. I asked to speak to the supervisor, he said that he was the manager, so I had no recourse. I left the shoes behind. While I may continue to shop at TJ Maxx, if in the vicinity, I will likely not return to this store. I did not appreciate being treated like some sort of fraudster. My advice to those who try on their purchases at home, like I do, is to carefully inspect each item before leaving the store. read more

For those people who love shopping at a "TJ Maxx" and happen to reside in Arden-Arcade/Carmichael area, look no further because they finally opened one at the Town & Country Village on Marconi Ave. This was definitely a warm welcome to this shopping center that already offers stores such as Trader Joe's, Save Mart, & Starbucks. And besides "TJ Maxx", this shopping center will also be welcoming a Bed, Bath, & Beyond as well as a Ross Dress For Less store in the near future. For those of you that don't know, the new site where "TJ Maxx" is as well as the 2 other stores I've mentioned are in place of where Goore's Baby Furniture & William Glen Collectibles once stood. It is sad that those stores couldn't withstand the economic downturn that we faced about 5 years ago so this is definitely a new phase in a relatively old shopping center. I arrive to the new "TJ Maxx" store on a Sunday November afternoon. At first glance, I was greeted by bright lights, laminate flooring throughout, high ceilings, and a well-stocked store. I always see their merchandise to be a slight step up from Ross and Marshall's which is primarily their main competition. Prices are also a little higher simply because the quality is all designer name brand but far less than what you would expect at say, a Macy's or Nordstrom. You will find everything you need here; men's, women's, and children's clothing, shoes, a generous bath & body department, kitchen/bathroom decor, housewares, furniture, jewelry, watches, candles, handbags, miscellaneous food items, and much more. Since this store is not known much to the general public (and this review is the first one I'm writing on the Arden location), it wasn't very busy when I went here. Overall, its a well laid out store as they are fully staffed with salespeople and stocked with a ton of merchandise. You will also find several dressing rooms throughout the store and restrooms in the rear. I am guessing that once Bed, Bath & Beyond and Ross open up, traffic will definitely see a big increase. But for now in the ever-changing Town & Country Village, "TJ Maxx" is a great new addition to this area. read more

First, a little bit about the store. Typical TJ Maxx, with your normal selection of clothes and home goods. This one seems a bit smaller than some, but it is clean, located next to other stores with similar inventory such as Ross, and prices seem to be fair. Yesterday was my first visit to this location, and I thought yesterday I would come back here in the future if I needed something. With that said, I came in today to return an item that I bought earlier in the week that just wasn't meeting my needs. As I walk through the door I was greeted by an employee but over the greeting I overheard a manager disciplining the employee for leaning on a podium at the front door while working. The first thing that came to mind was, "Is this lady really having this conversation with her employee in front of the whole store?" And it's not like it was constructive criticism, but condescending and talking down to the employee. Anyhow, I get into the line and there is only one cashier. The same manager picks up a phone and pages for cashiers, which I do appreciate, but at the same time there was only two other people in line outside from me, so I'm a little confused as to why she couldn't just open up a register to help clear the line versus asking for somebody else. It's not like it was a large buildup of people checking out and multiple registers needed to be opened. Needless to say, I feel like management at this store is lacking and ineffective. Instead of delegating and disciplining, they should be looking to lead and set a better example. I understand that as a manager you have to be the one to correct things, but I also feel like there's a time and place, which is not at the front of the store. I feel bad for the employees who have to work here, and wouldn't want to be a subordinate of this individual. read more

I don't know what the deal is with this specific TJ Maxx, but it's pretty nice... They don't have the best things but what they do have going for them is that it feels like 70 to 80% of the stores on clearance. So come and take your time because there's tons of weird deals to be had but you need to look through everything and look at the tags yourself. This is the biggest and nicest TJ Maxx I've ever been to. It's a very open building with bright lighting that pleases the eye. Aisles are well organized and stocked. I don't think I saw a single empty space on a rack or shelf. We were in the area and decided to stop in to browse for our new place. I quickly walked over to the home goods section, focusing more on the kitchen and found lots of Rae Dunn pieces. I see them at every TJ Maxx, but never have I seen so many pieces and duplicates at one store. They also had tons of Tupperware, utensil organizers, mugs, etc. The store felt a little cluttered from all the items they had available. We found a trash can we were interested in but it was broken, bummer. When we found the same one further in the aisle, it was also broken. Double bummer. Other than that, I wasn't able to find a single thing I wanted, surprisingly. Lol I'll probably make my way over, a few times a month, when I can't find what I want/need at Ross though. read more

Does anyone admit to bargain shopping? Y'all should. Especially if its a TJ Maxx. I love the variety of things that can be found at all of their stores. Its like a treasure trove of goodness. Looking for some travel bags, suitcases, or anything that you think you might need for travel? LOOK HERE! Looking for some uber cool candles, bath products, or upscale hair products? LOOK HERE! Looking to add to or change some of your homegoods? Pots, pans, cooking dishes? LOOK HERE! Looking for a gift or three? LOOK HERE! Looking for kids, womens, mens clothes? Look here!! The jewelry case often has some unique and pretty cool items. I found a lovely necklace that was originally $165.00 for half that amount...and they were having a sale. So, less off, and major *score* I also found some cool travels items for an upcoming trip. I picked up a weight handle for weighing my bag before i get to the airport. I even bought one of those neck pillows. Less than $10.00! It even has a pocket on the side for holding a phone. The clothes in each department tend to be messy, because shoppers pick and drop. Often there are newer styles, but more often than not, some of the items look like 90's rejects. That doesnt mean you wont find cool items! You will. Its all in looking. This is the type of store that you want to just browse through, so that you will find that one special item. You're getting such a good deal on what youre buying, that its worth the time. I prefer shopping when they first open, or when they are an hour from closing. That way there are less people, and more stuff to browse through. Some locations are smaller, some have what i perceive to be better items, but overall, its a good place for some great finds! read more

I went to TJ Maxx after work with a specific mission in mind, and I was pretty excited to make my first trip to the store. There were plenty of parking spaces near the entrance, and I was thinking this was a a positive sign for a leisurely shopping experience. I entered the store and none of the employees made any effort to acknowledge me or ask if I needed assistance. Not good-especially since there were no other shoppers in sight. I was looking for luggage and spotted one I thought would be perfect. There was a sales associate tidying up the area (and complaining, loudly about how customers made a mess of her assigned spot and ruined her displays). The specific piece of luggage I selected was not marked with a price, and there weren't any others similar to it, so I asked the complaining sales associate how much it cost. Without turning towards me she told me she was too busy straightening her area and I should ask someone else for help. Without saying a word, I returned the luggage to its place on the shelf, and exited the store. I won't be back. Really. I walked 2 stores down to Ross and had a great shopping experience. We threw all of our cares and good sense to the wind and decided to go shopping for candles, yes candles, three days prior to Christmas. I am now off of work and sometimes crave that rush of excitement that ambling among stressed out, frantic shoppers can provide. We decided to head to TJ Maxx in Arden which is fairly close to our house, as TJ often carries a variety of brands at affordable prices. As our car pulled into the parking lot, I noticed that there were many new stores around TJ Maxx including Bed, Bath & Beyond and Ross. There was plenty of parking with a few spaces open, even for this busy time of year. As we entered, the store appeared very open, fairly new, and clean. As is the norm with many TJ Maxx stores, the shelves were completely full of items and the there was a sense of many objects being squeezed into limited space. However, the objects were fairly well organized and easy to see. There were signs above which helped designate each area. During the entire shopping trip, I kept twirling around in wonderment at the lack of items obstructing my path given the countdown to Christmas. There appeared to be a good amount of female, male, and children's clothing for the size of the store. They also had a decent toy section. They even had a pet section for animal parents like us who cater to our fur babies. I noticed an associate cleaning and organizing the store, but she did not interact with shoppers or ask if they needed help. After exploring every possible candle scent that TJ Maxx offered, we chose our three affordable candles and headed toward the check-out. Each time I shop at TJ, I appreciate the amount of random things that are stacked and hung in this section of the store. Just in case you forgot to buy that coffee mug that says "You are My Everything," small bag of candy, pet holiday stocking, or cheap charger for your phone you will be reminded when waiting to check out. It makes for great entertainment. We appreciated the short wait to see a cashier given the five associates working that day. We also enjoyed chatting away with our cashier who was very friendly. Unfortunately, though TJ continues to offer single use plastic bags - a major NO NO! I hope this changes once the Plastic Bag Ban takes effect come 2017. Overall, I would give this TJ Maxx good marks for a positive experience and money saved. read more

This used to be my go to TJ Maxx store but now I really enjoy going to the Davis location. While it has everything you would expect to find in a TJ Maxx such as purses, shoes, clothes and home decor, they always seem to have a little less then the average TJ Maxx. I think the home decor is lacking the most here, but if clothes is what you desire they have a decent selection. This is a good addition to the shopping center and I like stopping by here after shopping at Trader Joe's or Sprouts. read more

I recently stopped into T.J. Maxx to do some last-minute Christmas shopping. Although, it's hard to look through clothing with racks so tightly packed and shelves at times over packed...creating some interesting treasure hunts...I really do appreciate, especially now through Covid, the attitude of the staff. We here in CA have been given some pretty crazy mandates through this pandemic (does Rona really know what time it is?) and I'm sure there are some cranky shoppers out there! The staff I encountered at TJ Maxx were not only helpful but, friendly and kind too! I like that they have hand sanitizing stations around for their patrons. I also like that checkout lines are wide so you don't feel you're on top of each other, even with stickers on the floor attempting to keep you 6' apart. The checkout staff also wipe down the counters after each guest. Happy shopping and remember...in a world where you can be anything - be kind. read more

I recently purchased a couple clothing items here and since the fitting rooms aren't open I couldn't try them on until I got home. They ended up not fitting so I took them back in today hoping to return them. The cashier told me that they "smelled like laundry detergent" so she couldn't take them back. The tag was still attached so I obviously didn't wash them - if they smelled like anything it couldn't have been my fault. Went shopping at TJ Maxx Friday having a nice time for myself, trying on different things in the dressing room...then all of a sudden I was witnessing a woman who I am assuming was a manager chewing out the dressing room employee, whom I'd been talking too, in front of customers !! She really should go back to "managers school". That is such a no, no. Besides being rude she never let the employee say her side. To me, the employee was not only doing her job, but doing it quite well, with lots of smiles and being so helpful.
