I bought a sheet set that was $34.99. It was suppose to come with a flat sheet, fitted sheet and 2 pillow cases. When I get home the flat sheet was wrapped around another flat sheet in a different color. It clearly was not part of the set. It looked used and dirty like someone returned it and kept the pillows and fitted sheet because they were missing. I had to drive all the way back, completely out of my way to exchange it. Of course they did not have the same one so I grabbed the only other set in the color and size I needed only this one was $39.99. I asked the supervisor Michelle if she could do an even exchange for my inconvenience and for their mistake on not checking returns to make sure they are correct. She said "they do not do that" and instead of offering something else to sooth the situation she just walked away. Didn't even thank me for my patronage. I told her I was a loyal customer and even showed her that the purse I was using was one I had bought there a month ago. She CLEARLY did not care by the way she rolled her eyes at me and continued to walk away. I have worked in retail and customer service and know she could of handled the situation a lot better. Michelle and Michelle alone lost this store a loyal and avid money spending customer. All over $5. This store definitely needs to rethink who they put in charge. Michelle made me, a customer, feel like a foot tall. That is not right. What happened to the customer is always right? The cashiers were very nice and helpful. read more

I just want to say thank you to the manager here I wish I got her name. I always keep all my receipts and a couple days ago I was finally able to go into this location after everything being shut down due to Covid so I went a little overboard! I slipped my receipt in the packaging of the product I wanted to return. I go to the store today on my only day off of work and realize I don't have the receipt!! They took the time for me to look up the receipt with the info I had. Normally stores like this the customer service is sub par so I am very grateful they took the time to research it for me even when they were extremely busy! Thank you! read more

Really great customer service. Plenty of cashiers. When I went to pay, because they had asked, I mentioned I couldn't find something. My cashier was not sure so she asked another cashier who seemed happy to help and I fired where the product was and without hesitation a third employee ran and got the item for me. Wow! Sorry, Mario S. Maybe the Men's section sucked, but there was plenty of good in the ladies and home sections (2/3 of the store). For under $150, I left with: A pair of shorts a dress two tops (a shirt and a cardigan) two girls bathing suits sunglasses for my mom a Ralph Lauren polo shirt a 16 pc. set of drinking glasses and I even scored a 5 lb, weight that I can use when working out at home. If I would've bought this at the mall, it would've easily cost twice a much, if not more. This location has a decent selection of shoes and purses too, ladies. My wife's purse was left unattended for a moment in the Oceanside TJ Maxx store. Realizing this, she soon recovered the purse, with all property intact but in disarray. Next day unauthorized purchases were attempted but declined, and we realized a crook had gathered info from at least one card from the purse. We cancelled all cards. I then left two phone messages for TJ Maxx loss prevention without a response. I didn't want to make a police report without knowing there was some evidence available for the cops to use. In a third call I finally got to corporate. I was tersely informed they would not view the video unless a police report was filed. Stunned, I told them I didn't want to view their video; I just wanted them to view their OWN video and tell me if or if not the incident was captured. I even provided the exact date, time, and store location of the theft. Still, they insisted I must engage public police resources at taxpayers' expense before they would take the five minutes necessary to look at the video sitting on the computer right in front of them! Professional job TJ Maxx - great form! But just imagine your profitability if competent people ran the place! read more

I've always loved TJ Maxx's. This one isn't the best due to poor customer service and organization. I went shopping for last holiday items. Went to check out. Card error. They agreed to hold my stuff around 6PM. I rushed there after work arriving at 1:30PM. Stood in line to get told they can't find my stuff. Behind the registers are super messy. Nobody knows which stuff is mine. Honestly, go somewhere with better organization and customer service. They lost my money. read more

I used to be a loyal and longtime customer of TJ Maxx, but the service has gone downhill lately to the point that it's no longer a positive shopping experience. Today, I was treated very poorly by Manager Jamie L. who was condescending and accusatory. He had the audacity to accuse me of switching the tags on two items I was attempting to return. Because of his store's tagging error, I was not only unable to return my purchase, I was also accused of being dishonest. Unacceptable on any level. To make matters worse, he mocked my frustration, smirked and hinted that I would need to apologize and beg in order to return my items. I, instead, chose to leave the store with my items and will return them at another store. (Fortunately, I have since located my receipt, so this will not be an issue.) When I asked for his last name and his manager's name, he again smirked and refused to disclose either to me. I have never been so humiliated and disappointed at such poor customer service. I will never again shop at TJ Maxx... All over a $25 return and a manager who enjoys patronizing customers. Such a shame. read more

They have a lot of good stuff here. If you're lucky you can find some quality brands at low prices. They have a lot of holiday decor at the moment. I noticed TJ Max sells a lot of items the MCX sells for at least half the price. It's a clean store, however I do think they are understaffed. read more

I always spend too much money when I come here. They've got a good set up. The store is clean and bright and the staff is pretty helpful. It seems like they move stuff around a lot to keep the store updated. Definitely one of my favorite places to go. read more

Let me preface by saying as a military spouse I have lived in a number of areas and have enjoyed TJ Maxx from time to time. However, I have never received such deplorable customer service as I did today from the cashier at this location. She was all smiles and friendly when she took items from me, rang them up, and collected the money. At that point she pushed the two products across the counter with a sassy 'here' and did not even give me my receipt. Reread those last two lines. I will not be back to that location. I go into this store once a year, maybe once every two years. Always have helpful employees and I end up buying a few shirts or things that are inexpensive. Well, I just called them about a shirt I saw somebody wearing (with Muhammid Ali on the front). It's one of my favorite sports pictures (him knocking out Sonny Liston). I figured I'd call and ask them if they had it before driving all the way down there. I apologized first, because really....employees have better things to do then look thru all their racks of shirts for a guy that's calling in. Yet the woman on the phone was very friendly, said it wasn't a problem....asked my size, and off she went. A woman named "Bic" was so helpful, and found the shirts (not in my sizes, but still). She was willing to hold it for me, etc. This is great customer service. In fact, I may not have ever had better customer service with a store ever. And I'm in my 40s!!!! Clean store but 2 cashiers were busy toddling while we stood and waited for it to be a convenient time to be helped.

It lacks men's professional ware... maybe 12 dress shirts and no suits, sports coats, etc. Otherwise, pretty clean and organized.

I can't give this place a true rating because I only came here to return Christmas presents. I didn't shop or explore the store. Line wasn't too bad and the lady helping me with my return was very helpful. This seems like a nice TJ Maxx read more

OMG I did not realize how many good deals they have here... Go to their clearance section in the back and you can find Christmas presents for a great price. We got a large jar candle for $4.99 and much more for under $5. read more

Nice place to shop for clothes & stuff, and well maintained compared to other Maxx stores in other neighborhoods.

I like going here to kill time while waiting for my brother to be done with his tutoring sessions. Always end up getting something though, may it be hair products or PJs, things I don't like paying an arm and leg for at the department store. you can always find items here at for much less than you would at department stores. I don't know how many times I've gone to bed bath and beyond and have purchased home good items and found them at tj maxx for a fraction of the price. same goes for pet supplies, I've made the mistake in purchasing pet supplies and toys from PetSmart or petco, and again finding the same exact items for much less at tj maxx. Its convenient how this place has everything you need. I can buy cute office supplies, work clothes, and pet toys all at the same place! read more

This is a five star TJ Max compared to several other TJ's I have shopped. This one is very clean, organized and has many fitting rooms. There is always a good selection to choose from EXCEPT men's department. Men's department always less to choose from or they do not have what you need. Staff here is always willing to help! Plenty of parking available too. read more

I like TJ Maxx. I can find great items there and come to find that special item when in need. My experience here was less than stellar though today. A purchase of two pairs of shoes made on the 15th - 2 days ago included a pair that wassnt worn and one that I was excited to wear to work yesterday. Unfortunately the shoe cut the back of my heals and I decided to return due to a defect in the shoe causing me to be cut and bleed during work. Usually not a big deal for most places as it's a defect, but it seems today it was a big deal to the coordinators on duty. I understand used merchandise is not generally returned but as a manager in another competing off price retailer for over 6 years I know the meaning of customer service and supporting those who were injured by your product. I made no fuss in the store as some might think from the start of this review. I plainly asked for a return due to the cuts and showed my heals to the coordinators at 449pm tonight. She went ahead and accepted the return but made a point to let me know that's not something she will do again in an unpleasant manner. I thanked her and she walked away from the counter entirely. I was left to ask the nice cashier on register 5 if she was coming back since she just approved the return. The sweet cashier apologized and took care of me. Obviously this was not the best service today. Thank you to the cashier , but to the coordinator on duty, please learn from your associates on what it means to give great customer service. I will say Thank you though for the return of the defective shoes. read more

Buyer beware! This store has terrible customer service. I purchased a leather purse from this location a little over 30 days ago. The purse had snaps which held the strap on. Every time I used the purse, the snaps came undone and the purse fell to the ground. Obviously, this purse is unusable. I attempted to return the purse, since I would consider it defective. I was outside the 30 day return window however I don't think it should matter in this case. I spoke first to the cashier who called over the Customer Service Supervisor named Karen. She told me they could not take it back because I was outside the 30 days and it had been used. I explained that the only way I would know the straps didn't work was to use it. I was told that TJ Maxx does not take back defective merchandise because it would be a loss to them and they can't resell it. If this is the company policy, I would be surprised. Would she respond the same way if it was a crockpot that didn't heat up? Probably not. I will not be returning to shop at this store again! read more

If I could rate this location 0 stars, I would. I have been a customer at this location for many, many years, and today marked my last day to ever shop at this location. The manger herself is extremely unprofessional, rude, does not care whatsoever about the customer experience, and does not know how to properly manage a store. I went in for a simple item return, because the candle I purchased was defective and wouldn't burn, and she simply told me that "this is the last time we're going to help you with a return" all because I forgot my receipt at home. I hope my horrible experience can save you a trip to this place and you can take your shopping to a different location. T.J. Maxx is the store that I go to and then realize I spend about 45 minutes wandering around trying to find something and more often than not I find nothing that meets my fancy. I recently went there and saw three dresses that I thought could possibly work for an event that I had to go to, I didn't want to try them on so I just decided to buy them, try them on later, and return the one thst didn't work. Bad choice! I forgot that TJ Max has a 30 day return policy even if you have the receipt and original tags still attached to everything you only have 30 days to return your item. After 30 days they only give you store credit. I bought The dresses two weeks prior to when I needed them and then ended up not using them and by the time I returned them it had already been six weeks since I purchased them. Now I have $100 store credit so I'll be forced to come back here and try to find something that I like which will probably take me four or five visits since you really gotta search for something good here. read more

Thank you to Tori who was kind enough to call me back after I thought I had lost my credit card case in the Encinitas store. Though she works in Oceanside store and had never met me, she was caring, compassionate and helpful. Tori assisted me in having her loss prevention team backtrack to see if i had left my credit card case (with driver's lic) in the Encinitas store. She called me back within 24 hours of investigating and let me know i didn't leave it in the store. As of now, I still haven't found it, but with Tori's assistance and going the extra mile to help me retrace my steps, I have peace of mind that I didn't leave it in the Encinitas store. It is rare that you find someone who is so busy take the time out of her schedule to truly help someone in a frantic state.
