TJMaxx re-opened during the coronavirus pandemic. I don't think the wait in line was that bad compared to Ross. I wasn't even planning on going to TJMaxx today but I saw the line was just around the corner into the parking lot so I thought that's nothing compared to the long never ending lines I saw for Ross' re-opening so let's just go! Yep, I made my husband wait in line with me and he brought the umbrella to provide shade in the hot sun. An employee came to the line to pass out bottled water. Not cool to the customers who just threw their empty bottle on the ground. I think the wait time was probably between 45-60 minutes outside. When we got closer to the entrance we saw the nice hand drawn signs the store posted on the walls welcoming customers back and telling us they missed us (I missed you, too! #MaxxinistaForLife). The greeters at the door apologized for not having carts but that we can check back to get a cart which my husband did when our hands were full of the stuff we wanted to buy. Everything was fully stocked. A lot of the red tag items was just a dollar less than the original price. The fitting rooms are closed so people will just need to return them later after purchase. The return policy signage was near the entrance. All the employees were friendly and welcoming and at least three of them asked how we were doing while shopping. We noticed the TJMaxx store in Kapolei, and gravitated over to it right away. I needed a hat for spf 100, even though I have a dozen hats at home, I forgot to pack one. Great slection in this spacious clean store. I immediately was attracted to a straw large brimmed hat with multi-colored thread woven through it, kind of tropical, but subtle. I liked it even better when it was on clearance for only $12.00. This inspired me to whirl around the store, checking out their other departments. There was a great sippy cup (travel coffee cup) selection, but we have a lot more at our California store (we spend more time in our cars?). They had a great active wear and bathing suit assortment and the cosmetics selection was really diverse. The clearance rack looked pretty sparse, but the housewares section in the back of the store was interesting. TJMaxx shoppng is always somewhat like a quest, if you have an open mind, you find exactly what you want. read more

I really never wanted to come in here because I thought it was a more expensive Ross but it's not too bad. The only thing I don't really care for in here are the clothes. I haven't bought a single clothing item in all my visits. The styles just don't seem current enough and they're a bit more expensive than Ross. Everything else though is great. I love the pet section, the houseware and dishwares, and especially the mug section lol. TJ Maxx is really all about cute, sassy, creative and funny mugs to me lol. I've bought like 5 different ones from them already. The styles and designs are much more aesthetically pleasing than any selection I've seen everywhere else including pier 1, Walmart, Target, Ross, etc. Another thing I appreciate is the blanket section, especially during the summer because they're the only place that really sells stylish "mats" or picnic type blankets that are stiff and meant for sitting on. For some reason I can't find these anywhere else. If you're deciding between Ross and TJ Maxx you should definitely hit up both because they each carry things the other really doesn't. read more

Annoying!!!!! Why have the machine, that tells you which register to go to? Then have an employee standing head of the line, saying you can go to register #. Seriously, why not jump on a register and help shorten the wait line. Completely pointless employee position. read more

This store s brand new so everything is well organized and clean. The setup is pretty familiar to other locations so you can find your way around easily. employees are friendly and seem happy to work there which is a plus! read more

Very excellent customer service! We were helped by a very helpful cashier named Brison, and he made the experience very pleasant. Upon entering, we were greeted by a saleswoman, and so far we have always had pleasant experiences at this TJMaxx. My favorite section is the homewares and notebooks, which range from $3.99-$7.99 (the beautiful designs and great prices makes me always want to buy new notebooks and journals). The store is clean and bright, and definitely not in the same category as Ross. read more

It has higher end brands of things compared to Ross, and some of them are cheaper than Ross. Give this place a try if you are in the mall area. read more

I love this location! Found all sorts of great clothes last minute for my trip to the mainland tomorrow. Super cute free people top and seven jeans very on trend for the season as well as great athletic wear. But what really stood out was the ANGEL DAVID who answered the phone after hours because I had(like an absolute fool) left my purse hanging on a rack. He had some associates look for it(also Angels) and they found it. Bless!! I would have been so so screwed for my flight if someone else had come across it and decided to keep it. I cannot stress enough how grateful I am that he actually answered the phone after store hours!!! read more

WEST SIDERS! Now you don't need to go into town/Pearl City for TJ MAXX! Conveniently located next to Target at Sports Authority in Kapolei Commons, TJ MAXX just opened a few weeks ago and is a great add on to this shopping complex. This location is a lot smaller than the town locations, but still has everything you need from home furnishings to clothes to toiletries. They had a great selection of everything and like all the other TJ MAXX stores, if you look good you are bound to find a gem. Lots of name brand items, non-name brand (but still super cute!) items, great deals and tons of selection. I went on opening day and the employees working there were all excited and happy to have a new store open. There were plenty of cashiers so the check out line didn't take too long, which is always a good thing. If you are ever on the west side and are in need of house items, clothes, shoes, purses, pet items, shampoos, fragrances, watches.... this is the place to go to.... and its all cheap! read more

TJ Maxx is generally one of my happy places. I have transcended to an age where shopping for home goods and just *stuffs* makes me happier than clothes shopping, so I'm always happy to come here. Usually. This shopping trip, I had a mission. My mother and I were looking for a recliner for my super picky, uber clean, has a terrible back father. The plan was that we would do the legwork and he would come back with his wallet :) We ended up finding a recliner! I know you're all Maxxinistas and know how random their selections are, so we were so stoked. We flagged down a worker, who happened to be some sort of manager (like, not a normal manager, her name tag said she was a specific type, and I should have tried to remember, but naturally I don't) and requested she put it on hold so we could drive all the way back to Pearl City to get a truck and my father. Not really sure why, but she gave us THE. HARDEST. TIME. She had a terrible attitude and kept repeating that they could only hold until closing and WERE WE SURE WE COULD PAY FOR IT. I swear my eyebrows hitched up at my hairline at that comment, but my diplomatic husband took over. Apparently he looked like he could afford it and she agreed to put it on hold for us. *This is unrelated but I usually dress like a bum when I go to buy a new car so that it weeds out salesmen who are looking for a *certain* clientele. I like thinking the salesperson has my best interests in mind. I'm not sure if it does actually work but I feel like it does, which is enough for me. Anyway, back to the story. So we go back for my dad. Did I mention he's uber clean? Germophobe level. The entire ride back to Kapolei he entertained us with his qualms about buying a chair that many butts have probably been on. We calmed him down and stated that it looked unsat on, that it was on hold where no one could sit on it, etc. We return to the store and lo and behold, Special Forces Manager isn't there and neither is our recliner, according to the normal manager. We explained that we were just there less than 2 hours ago and had it put on hold, but they insisted no one had done so. We go back to the furniture section and we see the dang chair. We're all pretty mad at this point and are simultaneously trying not to take it out on Normal Manager while telling my dad that surely no one had come and graced the chair with their butts in the time we had been gone. Naturally, while this is all happening, someone squeezes in front of us AND SITS ON THE CHAIR. We left empty handed. So, 3 stars because this was the fault of just one person. It was just really annoying because my father is super uncomfortable traveling and standing for long periods of time AND ended up leaving without the chair because she couldn't put it on hold for whatever reason. I'm still going to shop at TJ Maxx, but probably not this one. Moral of the story: Somehow, my father is always right. read more

I was shopping the store on a Sunday night when it wasn't at all busy. I've ran into at least 5/6 employees and not one has greeted me or even acknowledged my presence... I guess tasking and closing down the store is a whole lot more important than meeting EOD sales goals. No one was at the jewelry counter. Not only while I was shopping there, but the whole time. I went back to the jewelry counter to check while I was heading out the door. C'mon guys, it's nearing Mothers Day...you would think that wit....oh nvm. While checking out at the register, the cashier obviously had better things to do. Couldn't you at least pretend to like your job at least for a moment **face palm** when my transaction was over, I was still putting my change away and she had already called down the next customer. No thank you, no nothing. Two stars for the fact that I found a couple items I needed and for the massive MK watch collection that is still calling my name. read more

I was in search of affordable business-casual clothing since I normally wear a uniform but had a temporary switch in positions at work. To my pleasant surprise I found so many great very affordable pieces! I got 3 blouses, 3 cardigans and a pair of pants for less than $125. The store was clean and the employees were friendly and helpful. I was most impressed by the dressing room...very clean large rooms with great lighting and "skinny" mirrors so everything I tried on looked great. (Very smart!) This place is a money pit for me. Finally gave in and opened a TJX account. Between the housewares/ household stuff, and kids clothes, I am all sorts of in debt LOL! Sometimes the selection is low and things are very hit-or-miss, but I can't complain about the low prices and it being less crowded (and generally better) than Ross. However, I found that the Ward location has a much bigger and better selection of clothes, and not just because they have Runway. Their household stuff and food also seems to have a much bigger selection. Nevertheless, I'm so thankful (but my husband probably isnt!) that this location is so close to my house! read more

I like TJ Maxx better than Ross' most of the time. Sure a few things at Ross' can be cheaper, but the quality of stuff isn't that great. I usually like to look at their makeup, food items, and bakery pans etc. I've even found the USB iPhone 4s wire 6 ft woven wire here for cheap! I like that they also have had some lovely tea cups, depending on the season. Overall, I think their selection at times is very good. I just like to browse around here if I'm near one of their stores. read more

The sales associate named "Ashley" is very rude and lacks any type of customer service. When asked about an item, she had an attitude, walked away and returned with a short response. I later heard her in a different aisle gossiping about another customer and sounding very annoyed. She obviously hates her job and shouldn't be working in any type of customer service environment. Please get the girl some training or keep her in the back where she has no contact with customers. read more

Whenever I walk into a TJ Maxx, I always think that the prices are a little too expensive. But for some reason, I always luck out and find the best deals on quality items! I love when the different holidays roll around because they carry an abundance of unique items from home decor to everyday items. I love to browse their home foods aisles because I like that whenever something catches my eye, I never think twice about it to purchase. I'm always satisfied with my goodies! Although it can get busy, I never feel bewildered like someone is ready to snatch up what I want to buy! It's always a good bet that you'll always find something walking around long enough. read more

Out of the TJ Maxx locations I have been through, I think this one is my favorite. It's very well organized and easy to find the things you need. I do like the selection on the housing and kitchen supplies they have. Prices are decent and at times will snag good deals on the clearance items. You can find nice quality things for a great price and who wouldn't want that! Cashiers are nice and there is lots of parking. Ross is on the opposite end of TJ Maxx so you can always compare and see what you like or need. And Target is also nearby if you need to do some additional shopping. Great location and clean store. Definitely check out TJ Maxx and Ross if you are on a budget. I just wished they had a better method of placing the security tags on the clothes. Sometimes they leave holes in the clothes :( read more

If your a guy looking for clothes don't waste your time just stay in the car. Serioulsly, unless your a super small guy - In which case you could probably shop in the boys section anyways, they have almost no selection. The entire middle section of the store is dedicated to women's clothing. The toy section is literally the same size if not larger than the men's section. And they lump men's and young men together, giving the false appearance that they actually have a decent selection of clothing. Total waste of my time. And they don't carry shoes for men either. read more

This is in regards to something that has happened to me multiple times and I happen to shop at all 3 TJ Maxx's on Oahu. So, this review is not only for this location, but for the other locations on Oahu as well, so I will cut and paste this eventually on all of them. I am hoping to alert the managers as well as the security teams and especially the other customers shopping at all Oahu locations of a group of people that have been soliciting and recruiting people in their stores that do not work for TJ Maxx. It has happened to me multiple times now in different locations. It is very annoying! This is what they do: they come across as very friendly, and like they are another random customer in the store and they say something random to you: like oh, I really like your shirt, where'd you get it from? Or, wow there's a lot of stuff on clearance in this aisle! Or, have you finished all your Christmas shopping yet? (when it was around that time of course). Basically they will just say anything and will start talking and won't stop. You will try to walk away but they will keep asking you questions or telling you something and you basically feel like you either have to be a total jerk or just keep conversing until they get to their "sales pitch" or give up. It makes me feel like I'm in a time share sales pitch and all I want to do is escape but it's weird because I'm in a store and instead I just want to be left alone to shop. I have no idea why they all happen to be young Asian women who are dressed business casually but every time I was approached that's who I was approached by. Basically they say they want to tell you about a business opportunity that will make you so rich and you can retire early and that they don't normally tell other people about this but you're so nice and special that, lucky you, you get to hear about this amazing opportunity. Clearly they themselves are not rich and retired because they're stalking customers in all my local TJ Maxx's instead of chilling on a yacht somewhere. The first one that ever approached me caught me off guard a little and was really good with her pitch and although there was a point where I was like oh geez what is she selling, what does she want?! She still got me to give her my correct phone number because she wanted to text/call me right then and there with her phone so I couldn't fake it and give her a false number to blow her off. So, I just blew her off later by not responding to her text. But this was after I had just wasted AT LEAST 30 min standing around talking/listening to this random stranger and trying to "get out of the conversation" by saying things but she had a comeback for everything or another question to ask so I couldn't get away or end the convo unless I just wanted to be rude and pretend she wasn't talking to me all of a sudden and just walk away. Mind you, they are all very friendly and sweet and well trained in directing the convo the way they want it to go, so it's hard to be a jerk and just ignore them and it's also hard to make excuses to nicely get away from them. So, I'm hoping that by posting this it will not only alert other customers shopping there to be leery of "friendly" strangers supposedly also shopping there, and also to alert management and security that this is happening in all of your locations. This TJ Maxx is awesome! As a former townie I often times lament that the West side lacks the retail sparkle of Honolulu but walking into this discount store was like being resurrected. I went inside looking for a new water bottle for my two daughters and as the automatic doors swooshed open it felt like St. Peter's heavenly gates greeting me. I often shop at the TJ Maxx at Ward and I instantly fell in love with this location. I think it's better organized, cleaner and it doesn't feel overstuffed. My only regret was that I ran short on time to peruse more thoroughly but my family was waiting in the car so this was a five minute romp through shopping paradise. I like TJ Maxx for the home goods and every once in awhile I find fantastic deals on clothing priced under $20. I'll be returning for sure! read more

GREAT PRODUCTS! *1 TERRIBLE CASHIER* I love this place! They have great quality items that are reasonably priced. They also have the cutest home decor and the aisles are always kept neat. I usually go during the week when it's empty and always find exactly what I need. The reason I only gave them 3 stars is because they have a cashier there who is absolutely terrible!!! Her name is TONIE and was the only one open at checkout. While she was ringing up my items, she was constantly talking into her headset and didn't even acknowledge me. She also picked up the phone and made a phone call. I HAD 4 ITEMS which should not have taken that long to ring up. One of my items was an oil diffuser and she had the nerve to ask me to go and get one for her so that she could put it aside. I was beside myself as I told her that I'm in a rush and that she is there all day and can get it herself. After ringing me up and being distracted with who-knows-what I waited for her just to hand me my receipt! She's TERRIBLE and doesn't belong there with the rest of their awesome employees. read more

Ok, so this TJ MAXX location is LEGIT the BEST one on the island. During the holiday season, most stores have workers who are just as grouchy as some of their shoppers.... BUT not this store! I didnt see any carts when I entered the store, so i decided to shop without one. While i was grabbing what I wanted to purchase a store worker approached me and offered to find me a cart and take my thigs to hold in the front. I was NEVER asked that before in a store with every piling on my arms. LOL! So I was like sure. Ok, I'll come with you to find a cart. She insisted I continue to shop and she will find me. I thought she was going to forget about me.... BUT she DIDNT! She found me and said "Ok, here is your cart. Let me know if you need any help finding anything." (I wish I got her name!) Bruhhhhhhh! Ok, I see that TOP NOTCH CUSTOMER SERVICE. So I go to purchase my things and I get Tonie the cashier. Now she is super helpful, helping in every way possible! From looking to see if the toy I wanted was in stock, to offering me their credit card offer, to getting a price on something, to offering to call around to see if another Tj Maxx had what I was looking for, to hearing everything I was saying and MORE! There was even another cashier (I wish I got her name) who pitched in to help look up a price for a toy! WTH! OK so this store legit takes the CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARD FOR LIKE EVERRRRRR! Not worth the drive if you're not already on this side of the island. This particular location reminded me of the TJ Maxx over in the Ward center, but somehow smaller. I just wasn't impressed and if you want a bigger selection of things go to the TJ Maxx over in Pearlridge. read more

This TJMAXX is very neat and organized. They have a good selection of women's workout clothes, makeup, hair products, and home goods.

I have never gone into a TJ Max until I was on the island. I always thought the cost was too much compared to Ross when I would see it online. Well my mind cha ged when my husband gifted me a gift card for Valentine's day. I decided since he did such a amazing way to greet us in the morning with flowers, box of chocolates from Sees, balloons , toy blind bags for my little girl and for me the gift card. Decided to use it to buy something for my gracious hubby. So to my surprise I found bras there for under 10 bucks that actually fit, found K cups for affordable so manage to find his favorite Mocha, the treats are good pricing and the shoes as well. Love their layout which makes it easy to find things. There are still some pricey items but there are also some deals. I am a believer and will be in TJ Max again. for more awesome deals! read more

One of the bigger stores I've been to but basically have the same variety and stock when compared to the smaller sized stores.

One of the floor staff was very polite but the fitting room nazi really brought things down. If you REALLY need to count my two pairs of shorts, perhaps you should stay at your station rather than yelling from another department as though the customer is doing something illegal by entering the change room without your scrutiny. The store is clean but selection hit and miss, like all of them. read more
