    Celebrating their grand opening today!
    Larry E.

It's a great day in Grants Pass to have this store opening in our small town. As much as I love the local "Mom & Op" shops, I also think a balanced mix with other big chain stores is healthy to a growing community. The store just opened today and is packed with curious shoppers. The variety and quality of goods is great and similar to the offerings at their Medford location. The store is located in the place where JC Penny's used to be. They have remodeled the space to be clean and efficient with generous walkways between the shelving. Albeit a bit tight today due to grand opening crowds, it's still very manageable. The cashiers were all open to helping to keep the sales moving. I found there were a lot of friendly staff people to lend their hand to any questions. Inventory seemed full and neat. Truth...

A cookie was provided to us customers on Grand Opening morning. I thought that was a mighty sweet gesture.

How fun that I actually got to shop here on the first day they opened and even was early enough to get a special TJ Maxx sugar cookie! Nice! This store looks beautiful inside, everything is spotless and brand new, the dressing rooms look very cool! I think TJ Maxx did a fantastic job with the interior. Tons of great stuff. I've been there twice already since it opened a few days ago, and found fantastic stuff both times!! There were tons of sales people around, way, way more then I ever see at these types of stores. Everyone I talked to was really helpful and nice. The crowd on opening day was wall to wall people pretty much. I have loved shopping at TJ Maxx for years when I lived in the Bay Area, and I'm thrilled that they opened up a store here in Grants Pass! This was a much needed addition to the community, and I hope they do well.

This store isn't perfect, but what store is? Every store has something other stores don't have, but…read morenot every store has great employees. However, even when a store has great employees, people have bad days, so lighten up. Yeah, I have to do my rounds to get everything I want, but I get what I want and make a list for each store. As for Fred Meyer in GP, I've been very happy to shop here. Most of the employees are friendly most of the time. It's clean, well lit, has a decent variety and the prices are comparable to some of the other stores in GP. I also like that there's a gas station at this location and I get a little discount at the pump after shopping. If you want to save a little more, there are coupons available if you create an account on their Website. Generally speaking, this store can provide a good shopping experience if you have a good attitude and don't let the small stuff get under you skin. If something does bother you, inform the manager, so they can address the issue and hopefully fix it. Hope this helps. Cheers

With that being said, the good memories feel far away. I will give 5 stars for the employees busting it in the food service areas. Personable, marketing that is customized to my preference, and always make effort to engage. Self checkout gets irritated by you existing. God forbid you're holding your baby and need assistance with gallons of water. Ended up loading everything myself because I could not deal with middle age man passive aggression I was experiencing. What exactly do they even get paid to do? Incredibly rude.

Bummer! I used to love this store and shopped there frequently when I lived in the area…read more I came back for a visit, and was shocked at the change in vibe and merchandise. Crowded space filled with tawdry trinkets, that used to be elegant and open space from which to shop for well curated product. I don't think Bob is happy there, given his antisocial vibe and demeanor. Needless to say, I walked out, and bought some Birkenstocks at the shoe store nearby. I hope they can revive the store and bring back the good energy. I hope things improve.

She replied that she wasn't vaxxed and was protecting herself and other shoppers. She was not snarky or pushy, just answered the question. The register lady sort of snort-laughed derisively and said ooooh, ooo-kaay. The shopper left without making a purchase, as did my little group. 1: why did the register person feel the need to accost the shopper? 2: They lost at least 4 purchases in that moment, and I won't be back if I see that lady at the register again. And then I wonder if it was the owner at the register? 3: shops complain about losing business, but if this is what's going on, then yeah, they're losing business. There were many interesting things I would have purchased, had it not been for this interaction.
