I don't buy much for myself (23 year old female) but if you have a 2 year old like I do, how can you not love TJMAXX. They have run me broke and they will continue to do so. I go here about once to twice a week and never leave empty handed. It has to be the books, toys, and the fact that they have ACTUAL 100% natural sunscreen for my very sensitive child. I am happy that their shoes and clothing department is limited because I would have to start working here very soon. They carry books that my son will actually read compared to the dirty looking ones at Ross or overpriced ones at Wal-Mart and they also carry toys (trucks and hot wheels more specifically) that you can't find anywhere else except for Amazon.com. The best find that I have is a Samsonite carry-on luggage that was on clearance for $49 ($100-$200 anywhere else on sale). The only thing I purchased here for myself were pure Argan oil shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I came in for some work clothes and got new shoes at least. They had a shipment of women shoes this week. I like to sort through the former isle and pick up discounted items I wouldn't normally find else where - like whiskey maraschino cherries in a jar, smoked turmeric, Asiago popcorn. I picked up an herb mincer fro Italy on clearance for $4.00 and some disposable guest towels for $0.70. Also a new dog toy for our puppy. Yes it's pricey compared to Ross - but that's because it carries high ended pieces. There have been a few times I found the same item at Ross and the price difference either way was a few dollars. read more

I always come here to look at makeup and home stuff. Literally everything here is so cute and it gets kind of dangerous because you just wanna buy everything. Good selection of women's clothing but every other section is quite small. This store is on the large side compared to other TJ Maxx stores. The kids section is pretty small and so is the men's which is disappointing. The women's clothing basically takes up a third of the store. They had a good selection of pet products but not any more which is disappointing because I always got my pet products from here as they were quality and so much cheaper than Petco or Petsmart. Customer service is average. Always have the feeling as if they try and serve me at the register as fast as they can so they don't have to deal with me anymore. This store doesn't know how to treat customers. I have shopped at many tj maxx' for years and never had any problems. I bought a item that was defective and they wouldn't take it back because I didn't purchase it there. Never heard of that from any other store. It doesn't state on the receipt that you have to take it back to the original store for purchase. Very disappointed. read more

5/23/21 went to TJ Maxx at pearlridge to see what's new. Found tv cushions for your back and picked up one to see the price $14.99... ok it was reasonably priced and since I saw another one I picked it up also so I could have a pair and put that in my wagon as the shelf only had 2 of them.$30 for 2 was a reasonable price and I was looking for those tv cushions so was very happy. When I went to checkout #2 I had Cheryl who was pleasant enough and I gave her one of the cushions to ring up $14.99 and she wanted the other cushion to ring up as well. I thought it was a little inconvenient as it's the SAME item and was really bulky to lift it out from underneath the wagon but I figured maybe for inventory purposes so I complied. She told me to my surprise it was $19.99 for the second one!? Told her how come first one was $14.99? Cheryl said she will check with manager. Waited awhile till she returned and said manager was gonna charge both for $19.99 price but will give it to me for $14.99. I was happy they honored the price as they stated it was the wrong tag put on the cushion and should've been $19.99. But then Cherylsaid price was only good for ONE of the cushions and if I wanted the second one would be $19.99 as that's the right price. Asked to see manager and Told her it's not my fault and misleading to customers with the $14.99 price and then tell them wrong label but other one is correct so you gotta pay$19.99( her name was Joy) asked Joy to see her boss which was Robin and she told me the same thing which I thought was wrong and poor customer service as all 3 of these employees tone of voice was not so pleasant and lack of understanding and empathy on their part and they didn't even apologize for the confusion and making me wait for them to come back to the register . For a $5 discrepancy they are willing to lose a customer who I spend thousands of dollars each year there. Unbelievable! I love their merchandise but employees like these seriously need to have more common sense and proper customer service. A disappointed customer will not return as there is Ross store upstairs and I had a same problem with wrong tag on item but they honored all of it as I bought 3 of the same items although it was all tagged wrong they gave me the BEST price of all of them!! T J maxx you should learn from them.. that's why their store is always crowded and yours is not.. so sad as retail is so competitive and stores are closing. Employees make or break a business and employees need to know that and managers should make calculated decisions to keep their customers to come back again. For $5 difference they lost a customer and I will tell my friends and family about this incident as I don't want them to go through the stress like I did. I only gave 2 stars instead of 0 stars because although employees and managers weren't the greatest.. store has good but limited merchandise and a little more pricey than Ross. This is the first store who did not honor their mistake. $5 will not break me as I have a 5 figure line of credit but it was the principle of it that disturbed me and I did push it a little to test their customer service and skills as I'm a regular yelper.. sorry to say they had a dismal failure for me.. very sad and shocking in today's competitive retail business world.. read more

On my shopping mission, I stopped in here to browse. (Who doesn't want to save on designer right?) and left with a handful of things. Starting with the beauty department: I've noticed the TJ Maxx's in Hawaii don't really have any cosmetics unlike the mainland stores. But they do have a great variety of lotions, facial items, soaps and liquidy goodness. Being a natural products lover, I was able to find a good amount of stuff, like Aromatherapy Co. eye serum and their body lotion, and DermaE facial lotion and Nature's Gate face serum. I was especially happy to see DermaE since it retails very expensive at Down To Earth and Whole Foods (They have A LOT more of this product at the Ward location). Lots of hair sprays/products and spa things. There's a big selection of essie nail polish at the checkout area. The kitchen and home section was pretty generous too. Those were the only areas I checked out when I went here. The associates were around but not really checking to see if you are finding everything or if you need help, like they do at the Ward location. This store is spacious so you won't be bumping into people like I usually do at the Ross stores. I enjoyed browsing the beauty section until some lady turning the corner farted out loud. For some reason I always smell or hear someone letting loose in these types of stores. And it's always when they're turning the corner of the aisles, as if it's their clever mechanism or something. But I didn't let that deter me, I ended up finding lots of beauty, spa and nail stuff for around $50. I just wish they would carry designer makeup like Physicians Formula (like Ross does) or the balm cosmetics since I heard they sell it a lot on their mainland stores. It's price and packaging are similar to Benefit cosmetics, but I've only seen it at Sephora. SO if any of you ladies find the balm in store, please message me and let me know which store you see it at!!! The girls at the check out counter were really nice and the transaction and wait time was super quick. I also like that its attached to the mall which makes it very convienent. I mainly go here for wooden puzzles and toys for my son. I like the Bruder toy trucks because it looks realistic and is functional. They have decent Melissa Douglas toys(floor puzzles, huge coloring pads, a wooden clock to learn time...). They have a bigger selection during Christmas. The Melissa 12 piece puzzle box with 4 puzzles for less than 9 bucks is a good deal. It is good to take on the go to the park or the library. read more

Thank you to Albert the store manager....and Alyssa who was able to provide the kind of customer service I was hoping for! I came 25-30 minutes in the rain to exchange the luggage I purchased at the 1170 Auahi street location. I was not happy with the cashier who rubbed her hands all over the inside of the luggage (which probably had a handful of germs because of all the money handling she did on her work shift). Unfortunately it was the last one there. Luckily for me....Albert the manager called by walkee-talkee and asked Alyssa to come to the front and assist me in my request. Alyssa informed me that a new shipment came in and took the time to go and retrieve for me what i wanted to purchase. The best part is that she didn't rub her hands looking for a sensor in my luggage where I'd put my clean clothes. Good start to my afternoon! Thank you Albert and Alyssa! Like any bargain store, it's hit or miss when it comes to finding stuff you love and are looking for. Keep in mind: the first handful of times that I checked out TJ Maxx I thought the hype was all for nothing. Being to all three locations, I found the Pearl Ridge one to be the most fitting for my shopping style. I like the Ward one when I am looking for designer clothings, accessories and bags. Lately (past 3 visits), I have been getting lucky. On my first of the three recent visits, I found these awesome Joe's jeans shorts for $40. My automatic response was, "Ohhemmgee, I need this." Second and a bit of a more realistic response was, "ohhemgee, I do NOT need any more shorts, but these are such a steal, I need this." Haha, that's the thing about "bargains" and sales they make you think you want them, when really you have 2 pairs at home that still have the tags on them. On that same visit, I found these cute Aquamarine studs with Gold and Silver detail for $80, original price was $200! Yes, I again had another "ohemgee, I need this" reaction. On my next visit, I had saw the Joe's jeans shorts marked down to $30, good thing I kept the tags on. I went home and on my 3rd visit I returned them and got them for the lower price. On that visit, I found some Essie polishes for a whopping $3.99!!!!!!! Now that's half off...! Score. I also found a Color Club boxed set of 8 polishes for $10! Aiiii, I am dying. The staff at Pearl Ridge are nice and friendly. The girl's behind the Jewelry counter are exceptionally nice and even a bit nicer than those at PC. Not saying the staff at PC isn't cordial, but the Pearl Ridge staff seem a tad more conversational and friendly. =) The downfall to TJ is that there are very limited kids and men's ware. My bf did find these awesome Calvin Klein slacks for $17.99 each, which is a redonk deal! Love it. read more

I'm a HUGE fan of the other TJ Maxx by the Walmart in Pearl City. I was hugely disappointed at this location. The way the store organized is a mess compared to the other store, not to mention all of the products seem to be thrown onto the shelves. In general, the entire store is in disarray. I'm not sure if it's just because of the greater amount of foot traffic than the other store, but it was a madhouse in here. I wouldn't go out of my way to come back here, I'd much rather go to the TJ Maxx in Kapolei or the one by Walmart. read more

I went there last night. The cash registers had 6 with lights on but there were only 3 cashiers. I went up to the next available one. Just as I arrived at the register the cashier left to help one of the other cashier. I stood there for quite a long time. While I waited the other cashiers serviced people behind me in line. I wonder why they had 6 registers lite up but only 3 cashiers. One of the cashiers should have called me over before taking people that were behind me in line. I ended up leaving without buying what I had. I went next door to Ross and found the same thing and it was cheaper. read more

I love the Home department in TJ Maxx! I find stuff that is much cheaper here then Bed, Batth, & Beyond! The local pieces are here (glass vases, etc) are also cheaper than other stores. I got a great carry-on luggage from here! I don't shop here for clothes but am addicted to the Home department! I like TJ Maxx much better than Homegoods!!! read more

Horrible selection. The clothes looked like they were all for overweight or elderly people. Ugh if you're youthful & funky stay in Honolulu.

I think any of my friends and family can attest that I love TJMaxx as I'm there (at any given location) at least once a week buying something. Out of all the TJMaxx stores on island, I think this location has the most well-stocked Active inventory. It's not to say the other locations didn't carry activewear or equipment. They do. It's just the selections at the other locations (namely Kapolei and Pearl City) seemed to be lacking in variety or didn't even carry what I was looking for at all. Additionally, this location and the Ward location stocks more high-end/luxury brands for skincare and makeup. My one gripe with this location is its store layout. This store receives a lot of foot traffic as it's located in Pearlridge so it's no surprise the interior seems darker and more cramped. It's not the store's fault the square footage is a tad smaller, but they could take care to arrange displays in a matter that doesn't overwhelm customers. read more

I will never go to this location ever!!!!! So me and my mom went to the kapolei one which was so much better then Pearlridge based on customer service. So the kapolei location we were instantly greeted by a worker , asked if we needed help with anything we said no we're okay , every person we ran into as far as workers was great ! So we purchased a couple of things but they only had one pillow that my mom wanted one more of so we asked the cashier if she could call other locations to see if they had the same pillow she was so nice , and fairly new she then called Pearlridge exchanged information on the pillow and they told the cashier we have one she asked if we wanted to put it on hold we said yes and then as we finish up purchasing our items we head to Pearlridge instantly we walk to the home aisle their was a very nice lady smiling at us probably the only one I wish I knew her name but if you were working at 830-9pm and was fixing the home section and you seen me with a baby then it was you!(: Anyways we look for the pillow just in case they have more and then looked for things I wanted and as we grab whatever we wanted to buy we head to the cashier and you can instantly tell she already had an attitude , as my mom was asking her about the pillow she placed on hold , she proceed to grab it and said this is the pillow as we tell her it's not the pillow she insisted like we didn't know what pillow we purchased she was being so rude when we were trying to talk to her no eye contact no sorry it's possible that we made a mistake on the sku number anything she didn't say anything nor did anything to help. As we ask her to speak to a manager , the manager did not want to come talk to us which was more rude. It's very disappointing at how one location can ruin it for all locations. Not only to shop but also to work. My mom was very angry because she was so rude with a bad attitude. Because my mom was so agitated we went back to the kapolei store and asked for a manager he came out greeted us nicely asked if anything was wrong as we proceed to tell him our experience he apologized on behave of the other store and then said that we shouldn't have gotten treated that way and that he's very sorry like it wasn't even his fault but yet still apologized and gave us a 10% coupon for our troubles. I love TJs. Before moving to Hawaii from NY, one of the first things I did was make sure there was a TJ on the island! You get awesome deals here. In the few times I've been here, I was able to find something every time. They have a decent selection of bags and workout clothes/gear. The juniors section is huge. The shoes section is disappointing. The home goods offered here is pretty decent. They offer brand names like Calphalon and Cuisinart. This particular branch is clean and not messy. Similar to other discount stores, you have to dig through the racks and aisles to find something good. If you're not a shopper, you will probably get annoyed. The workers are always pleasant here, especially the ladies working the fitting rooms. Several reviewers have compared TJ to Ross'. I agree, Ross is cheaper. However, the brands carried at Ross' tend to be cheaper overall, while TJ carries more of the name brands, such as DKNY, Calvin Klein, Coach, MK, etc. From what I see, of the items that are carried by both, prices are the same. read more

I really like shopping at TJ Maxx especially since they have good deals and my experience was very nice thanks to Princess Diana and Alex who were helping me. However the manager on duty Robin wasn't that welcoming whenever they were trying to help me. When she came over my whole experience changed it went from very pleasing I want to leave ASAP. Overall it's a great store and great workers but Robin makes me want to shop somewhere else. read more

I've shopped at Ross for years and no longer look at it the same after shopping here. The selection and quality are premium compared to Ross. This place carries a lot of high end brands and generally looks and feels better than any Ross store. Even the furniture selection is way better. Highly recommended. This location is in Pearlridge Mall. I like the location because besides shopping there, I can also check out various stores the mall offers. This location for the most part is neat and clean. The associates are nice and friendly. Their stock seems good - they pretty much have everything from baby clothes to furnishings. The reason why I am giving it 3 stars is because they opened their doors late and the lady (I think she was a manager) seemed cranky and didn't smile. She wasn't apologetic nor did she even say hello as she opened the doors. There was quite a few of us waiting outside and it was very hot. She opened 5 mins late. It's not much but when your sign say 930, and you and your associates are just inside talking - you should probably try harder to open on time! Also, if you are a manager.. I finally succumbed and signed up for a TJX credit card during the holidays. I couldn't pass up the 10% off that day and then found that for every $200 you spend on your credit card, you receive a $10 off certificate! That is a 5% rebate which is more than most credit cards give so very pleased. I usually shop at TJ Maxx for exercise clothes as the brands they carry are much better than what is carried at Ross. Once in a while I have found Merrell slides for myself and a pair of Born slippers for my daughter. The toys are also a bargain! I found WOW trucks for my grandsons and they were cheaper at TJ Maxx than the lightning deal price on Amazon so that was a very good deal. I don't understand the comments about this store being messy or store personnel not being friendly and helpful. They do rearrange shelves frequently and while it can look cluttered, it's because they put out a lot of inventory every week. And whenever I have gone to this store, store personnel passing by will inquire whether I need help. So, one of my favorite places to shop. And I started shopping as their online store recently. Had wanted to buy NYDJ jeans but they were so pricey on Amazon that I had given up until I saw them on clearance at the T.J. Maxx online store. I bought 4 pairs for less than $100! read more

The store is clean, the staff very friendly and always facilitating that checkout line so there's never a long wait like SOME stores...The store above Pearl Highlands definitely had the best staff. However, the inventory is not as great as the stores in Orange and Irvine (of course) but they do still have Steve Madden bags in cool colors and some good clearance racks. I hope they keep the fitting rooms clean and the houseware and shoe sections organized. Altogether a good shopping experience! read more

This review is not only for this location, but for the other locations on Oahu as well, so I will cut and paste this eventually on all of them. I am hoping to alert the managers as well as the security teams and especially the other customers shopping at all Oahu locations of a group of people that have been soliciting and recruiting people in their stores that do not work for TJ Maxx. It has happened to me multiple times now in different locations. It is very annoying! This is what they do: they come across as very friendly, and like they are another random customer in the store and they say something random to you: like oh, I really like your shirt, where'd you get it from? Or, wow there's a lot of stuff on clearance in this aisle! Or, have you finished all your Christmas shopping yet? (when it was around that time of course). Basically they will just say anything and will start talking and won't stop. You will try to walk away but they will keep asking you questions or telling you something and you basically feel like you either have to be a total jerk or just keep conversing until they get to their "sales pitch" or give up. It makes me feel like I'm in a time share sales pitch and all I want to do is escape but it's weird because I'm in a store and instead I just want to be left alone to shop. I have no idea why they all happen to be young Asian women who are dressed business casually but every time I was approached that's who I was approached by. Basically they say they want to tell you about a business opportunity that will make you so rich and you can retire early and that they don't normally tell other people about this but you're so nice and special that, lucky you, you get to hear about this amazing opportunity. Clearly they themselves are not rich and retired because they're stalking customers in all my local TJ Maxx's instead of chilling on a yacht somewhere. The first one that ever approached me caught me off guard a little and was really good with her pitch and although there was a point where I was like oh geez what is she selling, what does she want?! She still got me to give her my correct phone number because she wanted to text/call me right then and there with her phone so I couldn't fake it and give her a false number to blow her off. So, I just blew her off later by not responding to her text. But this was after I had just wasted AT LEAST 30 min standing around talking/listening to this random stranger and trying to "get out of the conversation" by saying things but she had a comeback for everything or another question to ask so I couldn't get away or end the convo unless I just wanted to be rude and pretend she wasn't talking to me all of a sudden and just walk away. Mind you, they are all very friendly and sweet and well trained in directing the convo the way they want it to go, so it's hard to be a jerk and just ignore them and it's also hard to make excuses to nicely get away from them. So, I'm hoping that by posting this it will not only alert other customers shopping there to be leery of "friendly" strangers supposedly also shopping there, and also to alert management and security that this is happening in all of your locations. Tiny tjmaxx with small selection of items, like men's apparel (about 4 or 5 racks). However, they do have some brand names like CK and Polo by RL. You just gotta look hard to find them. One would figure they would be more competitive since Ross is just above them on the next floor. read more

If Ross' sells clothes from Macy's then TJ Maxx sells clothes from Nordstrom. I was super excited to get into one but once I saw the prices I wondered if I walked into the wrong store.
