This is my hubby's favorite store. He loves to get his anime things from Hot Topic. They were having a sale today. You buy one item and get the second item 30% off. I walked in and there was a sales associate standing by the door to greet me. They had a rack full of Hello Kitty items on both sides. She was explaining the sale to me and I thanked her. I walked around some more and saw a lot of cute merchandise. I love their Loungefly backpacks. They had one that was like a Barbie dollhouse. They also had a rack full of Barbie items, if you're a Barbie fan. There was a Mickey backpack that I really liked and a Winnie the Pooh one. Hot Topic always has the cutest merchandise. The staff is super helpful and will always try to help find similar items if they're sold out of something. I definitely love this store. They sell Hello Kitty and My Melody items here. Right as you enter, they had Hello Kitty shirts and sweatshirts with hoodies. I was so excited but I purchased a shirt instead. My daughter got a shirt that was on sale and another item. I believe it was a bowl. It was on sale as well. The employees were super nice. All of them offered assistance. I definitely liked that. I am such a Hello Kitty fan that I collect stuff now. I used to collect as a kid as well but I am totally happy that they had Hello Kitty stuff here. The only other store left was Sanrio at Kahala mall. I couldn't help but buy it. I have a phone number here and since I spent a lot, I received a $15 coupon if you spend more than $40. There's dates where you can shop from so hopefully I can use it because I do forget about the coupon sometimes lol I would come back to see what other items they sell. Shopping here is a fun and funky experience. You can browse to your heart's content. So many things to look at for a gift for someone or yourself. I've found cute Stitch items here and on their on line shopping. They have some fantastic deals going on and it's hard to resist with their hot cash coupons. The employees are friendly and helpful. One helped me get a hat and a backpack which were displayed super high up with a smile. If you order on line and don't want to pay the high shipping costs you can have it shipped to the store. However, they have to open up your package to count the items inside. The only downside is if they are out of stock on an item you could be waiting for your order to come in and you won't know they cancelled your order unless you research. They were so friendly when I went in to spend hot cash a couple weeks ago. I used to practically live in a hot topic so it's not like Im unfamiliar with the energy- but it was really exceptional last time due to a few things. 1. HELP ME AHHH!!! I get super anxious and feel really bad asking to get in and out of fitting rooms and asking employees to hold my items. That said, Craig (apologies if I get the names wrong) Jojo, and another manager (whose name is alluding me) were enthusiastic about it. I feel like there is always a point where people get frustrated especially with fitting protocols- but they were nice throughout. I also got super panicked and ended up standing around in store waiting for text feedback about my outfit. This is super anxiety inducing for me, but they never once made me feel like a problem for being in there like an hour- nor just standing there like a weird tree. Jojo also helped me search for a Sailor Mars pin that wasn't there. We had to have been looking for like ten minutes after I mentioned I was looking for a gift. Thats dedication. And when others are enthusiastic to help- it makes me feel way less weird and uncomfortable about asking for help. 2. Are you going to KKon? Chatting about anime and music are my favorite parts about being in a hot topic. I visited shortly before our big Anime Convention, and they opened up discussions by asking about Con. This made my whole standing like a tree thing feel more fun than pathetic. This is good. Plus I brought this one friend for moral support. I had to really REALLY convince her to join me there. This friend was actually going to Con- and she was super excited to talk about it. This made me really happy that she was able to have a positive experience back in Hot Topic. 3. OMG I LOVE THIS!! My favorite part about hot topic is the fact that there is something for everyone and there is always an amazing item of merchandise hidden in plain sight. Usually the response to "What do you recommend" pretty stale in other buisnesses businesses. I was talking with Jojo about their tastes- and they gave me a lot of cool, personal recommendations for items that I had honestly overlooked. I love that!!!! First off- I come to Hot Topic to get excited and geek out about everyones unique styles and taste's- so of course I want to know what everyone else loves! When someone is personally invested in a topic- it shows. And that's a huge factor for me. Second- A lot of it was mushrooms/cottage core like stuff, which is often a big "maybe"for me- so I honestly wouldn't have given a second look at half these items. Walked in looking for a particular item that is exclusive to Hot Topic. Upon showing the associate my picture of what I was looking for, he told me it was a hot item and they were sold out. So, I walk to the back to tell the hubs they didn't have it, and the clerk had told me it's a hot commodity. Hubs ask me, "what picture are you showing him?" So I show him, and he points on the shelf...there they are. At this exact time here comes the associate he told me no and was like, "Oh, there are three we must of JUST got in." Man, you weren't even trying to help and when you overheard my husband it was more like an, "oh crap" moment. Now we go to checkout. The back to registers are full with merchandise and such. Maybe holds, maybe returns, but we proceed to the front two registers where one female associate was ringing another couple up. Waiting, waiting, waiting then out comes another female associate to the other front register to ring someone else up. She turns to the other cashier, "oh was she waiting." She looks at me and asks, are you waiting? Really?! I've only been standing here for like 7 minutes waiting. She then tells me to stand behind the back registers in line. There is NO ONE there or in line,empty just as when I originally got in "line." There is some blue tape on the floor when I get there and zero signage. The store is inefficient and a little snarky if you ask me. If I do buy from Hot Topic, it will be online, that's IF I do business with them again. Skip this location if anything. read more

I came in here after shopping at another store in the mall. I felt like I should have came in here first, to find what I wanted which was oversized t-shirts. There was a very nice sales associate who welcomed me in the store and told me about the promotion which was buy 1, get one 30% off the whole store (I'm not sure what it excludes). She also asked me if there was anything I was looking for, which was nice because the store is pretty big and it could be confusing if you're looking for something in particular. I told her I wanted to browse around. I found a really cute Sailor Moon shirt and a Harry Potter cardigan. Frank helped me in finding my size for the cardigan because it was hanging on the top. I also appreciated that he held my selections at the register while I shopped some more. I also found 2 shirts that I think my bf would like. While ringing me up, there was so much things to look at by the register. There was patches and other small items. On the counter there was shopping bags that were bundled up like "blind boxes" for a certain price and category like anime, etc. It's kind of like the Fukubukuro/New Year's tradition that Ala Moana would have in certain stores. It was nice small talking to Frank (assistant manager) when he was ringing me up. He's very knowledgeable and such a people person. A great asset to the store! He gave me some Hot Topic coupons (hot cash) to use when I came in again (9/16/21 - 9/28/21) because of the amount I spent. Overall, I would highly recommend shopping here! Went shopping on 9/22/21, and my shopping experience was good! I usually shop at this location when I'm in the area because it doesn't fail to have the items that I needed! Since I'm gradually losing weight, I was in need of high waisted bikini bottoms. And thank goodness there was a sale for clearance, buy 1 get 1 for $1. I was able to buy 2 high waisted bikini bottoms that's $5 each, and my total came up to $6 (before tax). Amazing! So if you're into buying new bathing suits or need separate 2 piece bathing suit, I highly recommend getting it when they have that clearance sale because you can save alot of money. read more

Sinister gothic looking store can deceive and deter some away, but give it a chance! I can actually find Disney items and accessories, Pokémon, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, Harry Potter, and many more anime characters. I used to come here and get the bunny pin memes way back when. That's how we got our "memes" lol. It's also a good spot for some DIY costumes or "bounding outfits." Excellent customer service at this location. If I can recall, it is every visit that I am constantly greeted with the promos upon entering and asked how I am doing while browsing around. Even at the register, if I missed a promo they will let me know how I can save more or buy one more item and get something free. Hot cash is an awesome but deadly program. Hot topic has always been one of my favorite stores to shop at since I was a teen. I wouldn't say I'm an EMO or goth child, I just love things that are different or not the "norm". From the outside, this store can definitely give off Marilyn Manson vibes. But on the inside it's a place that always makes me smile. There are different anime character items (from the innocent Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball all the way to the creepy Attack on Titan types), Harry potter, punk/rock bands, American Horror Story, The Walking Dead, etc... most of the store consists of clothing, but there are other things like make-up, toys, accessories, body jewelry, even candy. When I walk in I'm always drawn to the clearance racks. Finding amazing deals after Halloween is especially the best. As much as I love the clearance items, most of the time I can still find good deals throughout the store and online. Between BOGO, buy 2 get 1 free tees, hotcash, or extra xx% off entire store... You're bound to find some savings worth while. Majority of my wardrobe is from Hot Topic, both casual and work wear. Every denim jeans I've purchased from Hot Topic are definitely the most comfortable and flattering ones I own. If there's anything that I'm missing from the store, it's gotta be kids sizes. So many of the t-shirts I want to purchase, I'm always wishing there were a youth size. Although I feel this store could be for everyone, I also feel like this definitely isn't everyone's style either. The couple time I visited, definitely did not have the best experience. The first time, I walked in and a guy greeted and asked if I was looking for something in particular. Which I said "oh I'm looking for a Disney bag" trying to describe it and before letting me finish he sarcastically responses was "well we have a lot of Disney bags" with a small laugh. Well the selection was horrible. With probably only like 3 different styles to choose from. I guess that's a lot of Disney bags to choose from. The second visit, I decided maybe to give it another chance and probably have a better experience. Nope. Walked in and both employees were behind the counter doing who knows what and talking stories. I did browse the store and seen one employee behind the counter browsing on her phone. When it was check out, I paid with the credit card and wanted to pay the bill. She asked for ID, I said "why is that? I never needed to show ID for payment?" Here comes the lady who was on her phone with her response of "well if your doing credit you need ID!" That's when I realized she was trying to sign me up for a credit card! I told her "why is it a credit card application! I'm paying for the credit not applying for the credit card. I already have one!" All I got was "oh". Not "oh sorry I made a mistake". Just "oh". But it was nice to feel like I was wrong? Even through the lady thought maybe she could be sassy to me? Are you ready to shop like it's 1999? Okay, so the clothes are a bit different than when I was in high school, but I've started to return to Hot Topic since they are carrying Hell Bunny dresses! Once upon a time, Hot Topic used to carry beautiful goth dresses that were of excellent quality. I still have a few lovely gowns that look practically new even after a couple decades of wear. But then the styles and marketing began to change, so out went the wonderful clothes and in came the graphic tees and nerdy knick-knacks. Luckily, I discovered Hell Bunny dresses from the now-closed Millennium Hawaii. These were the beautiful, high-quality dresses that I had been missing. I get non-stop compliments when I wear them out and everyone wants to know where they can get their hands on them. For a while, these dresses were hard to find, until one day I discovered that Hot Topic was now carrying the dresses. The best part is that you can find an extensive selection online, order using digital coupons, and have your order shipped to the store for free. With a recent sale, I was able to get three dresses for only $80--a steal for such a good product! While the rest of the store might be filled with bemusing items and the trends of the day, I'm so glad that the store returned to its roots and started carrying gorgeous dresses a read more

I'm digging the over 2-month long buy one, get one 50% off promo they have going on. I used to only know Hot Topic for their "dark and twisted" products but now they are selling products that are a little more positive-perhaps? Well, they still sell grunge/gothic-type products but they also have some cute Disney and Hello Kitty products as well. If you're looking for accessories, this is the place to go. I'm not just talking about earrings and bracelets--they have knee-high socks, suspenders, headbands, hats, beanies, belts, etc. Things can get pricey in here but if they have their "Buy one, get one 50% off" promo, take advantage of that! If you are into popular TV shows, video games or movies, chances are, they carry some of those products. I've seen a lot of Hunger Games and The Walking Dead t-shirts, bags, accessories, etc. I also like how they put a new spin on the Disney Princesses. It's hard to explain, but they have clothing and accessories (wallets, cell phone cases, stickers) and they're not your typical Disney characters. I've been a fan of Hot Topic for a while now and I still love it to this day. One of the reasons why I love Hot Topic is their prices when it comes to sales. They are very reasonable during the sales and this allows me to get my anime and KPOP fix at a reasonable price. They have a huge clearance section and this is perfect because I have bought shirts from the clearance section that are way cheaper there than let's say like EBay or Amazon. I also have a lot of shirts from Hot Topic and some of the shirts that I bought in the past are extremely good quality! On a side note, however, the employees are extremely and I mean extremely friendly! They're not only willing to help you with anything, but also willing to have a chat with you if you're into any fandom! It can be crowded however due to its size, so come at a time where it's not crowded. (This is also a problem in their Windward and Ala Moana locations) Note: The best location to get merchandise, however is in Kapolei, but that's because that Hot Topic is slightly bigger than all the others and is slightly less crowded. read more

Because they were so customer-service friendly enough to go into the back room to see if they have the Harry Potter t-shirt size I was requesting! Normally, all you'll hear is "whatever is out on the shelf is all we have..sorry" with a quick get-away from you as you stare daggers at their back. Now, I know...I'm a mother of four grown kiddos but hey...I'm a Harry Potter fan and when you walk into these type of stores---you see all these items that have you oohing and aahing as your daughter is looking around for her list of items, which was the reason why you (me) is standing in Hot Topics. I guess this is the store for today's generation as those other stores that I cannot recall were our "hot topics" back in the 80's-90's. Ok, so even though I'm not a big spender at this store, I love the variety of stuff they offer! From ridiculous Hello Kitty clothing and accessories and "stuff" to women's lingere to body piercing...etc. I stopped in to get my 10 points on my H+ membership and was immediately greeted at the door and told about the buy one get one half off t-shirt sale. Ok, cool. But I know I never find one t-shirt that I want, let alone 2. Now if they said buy one get 50% off bras well, then that's a different story. I scanned my card at the kiosk and then just took a quick browse around the store. Clean, well stocked, sales guys were friendly and nice, people looking around even seemed to be in a good mood! I don't know what happened to Hot Topic but suddenly they got all gangster and caught the Bieber Fever. I don't mind the gangster part but when they're playing screamo in the store, it doesn't really mix. Every time I come in here, I feel suddenly judged by the employees. Not a friendly atmosphere. Most of them just kind of huddle around the cash register. I remember standing at the register for like 5-8 minutes wanting to see something in the glass case and they were just talking to each other. There's only one employee that was ever nice and helpful to me. I was going to buy some jewelry for my piercings and she actually recommended Spencer's which was SO helpful because Hot Topic is ridiculously expensive. All the hot topics are pretty much the same. All set up the same too. I just come here for the Dragon Ball Collectables and blind boxes. You'll never know what you'll get! Also they have a gashapon capsule station like the same ones you see in Japan. I love those! Put a token in, turn the handle and grab your gift! You'll need to buy the tokens from the cashier. Same as how they do in Gamestop.. buy a token for a couple dollars. I wish they had more of these. Get on the guess list and start receiving rewards! So far the rewards I received were like birthday discounts and member discounts.. mostly like $5 off your purchase. It ain't much but at least its something :) read more

I've done this a couple of times and it's totally awesome! I found a pair of black fingerless gloves today, but they looked very 1980s Madonna. I didn't end up buying them. I wasn't sure about the soundtrack that was playing in the store. I have seen a major improvement since they changed faces in management. I am glad that the horrid older Caucasian red head is nowhere to be seen. She was plain awful! I love this location/store! Im an early bird, so I was ready to go shopping at 7am. I called the store because I didn't know what time it was, so thinking I'd get a recording of hours, the manager answered. told me exactly how to find the store. So already I was pleased even before I got there. Once I started shopping, I found SO many awesome things there. The guy was very helpful (I'm guessing he was who I spoke with) I got home with my purchases, and noticed a little stain on the back of a shirt, well I called and he said he would put up the same shirt/size away for me to come back tomorrow.
