I was explicitly told that all I needed to do was call the store after receiving my first credit card statement and they would apply the adjustment. When I called, I spent over an hour on the phone and was told I had to wait 15 days. I waited the 15 days, called back, spent another hour being transferred between representatives, and was then told I had waited too long and was no longer eligible. As a result, I never received the promised 10%. I feel completely misled into opening a credit card based on false information. This experience was exhausting, deceptive, and unacceptable. I have been warned about Best Buy by other unhappy consumers and now I know why.

Short review: Overpriced, bad communication, took too long…read more Long review: I just got my PC back today after 15 days at Compupro. My PC wasn't booting because it was stuck in the Windows 10 "automatic repair loop." I have a multi-HDD system, so I removed the problem drive from my case and brought it in. First they tell me that they need to run diagnostics on the hard drive. The minimum cost for any work (just to look at the computer) is $60. Fine. They said they'll call me when they have the results. After one week and no call, I call them to check in. Whoever answered the phone explained that the hard drive is fine and I need to bring in the rest of my PC (not just the drive) for testing. I do, and they say that they'll call when they know more. After maybe 5 more days and no call, I call again. They still can't figure out what the problem is, but they recommend resetting Windows, which means that I'll have to reinstall my software...maybe. Probably. The tech on the phone couldn't remember (this should be have been a red flag). I ask how much this will cost, and I'm told $75, and that the original $60 will be waived. I tell them to proceed with the reset. They call me after a couple more days and let me know that the reset didn't work, and that the only thing left to do is a full Windows reinstall, which means that I'll lose my software and files. They'll backup everything first. Fine. I'm a little pissed at this point because a Windows reinstall is easy, and something I could have done myself two weeks ago. Whatever. I tell them to proceed. The next day, they call and say that my computer is ready, and that the final cost is $150. What? Where did that number come from? The reset is $75 but the reinstall is $150? So, at the end of the day, I threw away two weeks and $150 on work that I could have done myself, and without all the hassle.

I just spent two and a half hours online with HP's "Help Desk."…read moreBelieve me when I tell you, there was no help to be found there. We bought a new HP Laserjet Pro printer. It will not install correctly on the computer on which it is to be used. I went to the website to get help with the drivers. Ideally, I wanted a disc with the drivers, to be able to install the drivers onto the computer. (because of the nature of what is on the computer, it is not connected to the Internet). Two and a half hours of frustration segueing to anger later, I am without a solution, without a disc, without an answer. It's an install disc for a brand new HP printer. One would think HP would have those. One would be wrong, evidently. Because there was no help to be found. Finally, my online "Help" person passed me off to a "supervisor" who telephoned me. I explained to him exactly what I need... bought a new $300 laserjet printer. Need the install disc. No install disc in the box. He said he would "Check into the situation" and call me right back. Nearly an hour later, I still haven't heard from him. The help desk person put me through a litany of "here, try this" exercises. None worked. I told her at least a dozen times: I just need the install disc. To no avail. Finally, after more than two hours, she wanted to pass me off (aka start all over) with a higher level of help desk. Again: need the install disc. That's all. I told her that repeatedly. It's a disc with the printer drivers on it. It's not the Holy Grail. Why is this so hard? The printer even came with a CD in it. Alas, all that was on it was the manual. I have never been so frustrated or disappointed in a company. Why does HP make something so simple as an install disc so hard? I had the model number. I had the serial number. It's brand new. Right now, it's a $300 paperweight. We buy a lot of printers and computers for our business. I can honestly say, after today's experience, it will be a long time before I ever buy another HP product. And change the name... a Help Desk? Not even close.
